NYC New Restaurant Openings, October 2025 | Eater NY

"The Manhattan debut of the fiery Sichuan favorite brings its modern, tongue-tingling cooking to Flatiron, with an opening cocktail list that plays with aquafaba and jasmine‑infused gins." - Tierney Plumb

By Antidote - Review - Flatiron - New York - The Infatuation

"From the people who brought you Williamsburg’sAntidote, By Antidote is also a Sichuan restaurant, this time in Flatiron. They’re putting some creative spins on dishes, like century egg with burrata cheese, but they’ve also got the classics, like mapo tofu and braised pork belly." - Willa Moore

Every dish we ordered was delicious - Century egg with burrata cheese, okra salad, tea smoked duck fried rice, sliced fish in chili oil, braised pork belly with mustard green. Thanks to Rex and the rest of the staff for their warm and friendly service and for making our dining experience so enjoyable. We look forward to dining here again.

The food was exceptional. Hands down gotta be my top 1 nyc chinese restaurant. Definitely visiting again and Louis was such a friendly server!!

Visited during their soft opening. The general vibe of the restaurant was great and I really liked the ambiance. I thought the cucumber salad was a little under salted and the crab fried rice could have fared better with the crab being cooked just a touch longer. Overall, it was a pretty good experience and I am looking forward to their official opening. I’m a big fan of Antidote in Brooklyn so wish them the best.

I visited during their soft opening, the food, service and ambiance were all top notch. Came here with my family for Sunday brunch and we had a great time! The staffs were so kind and attentive. Food came out fast and we enjoyed everything we ordered. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting and the interior was beautifully designed especially the selection of lights on the ceiling and walls. My favorite dishes has to be the century egg and burrata, lychee gulu pork, pork belly with mustard greens, duck fried rice, eggplant and the cauliflowers. I would definitely come back to try everything else including the drinks next time!

Google
Definitely recommend the burrata + century eggs appetizer - don’t mix all the chilli oil in though because that flavor is overpowering and you won’t be able to taste the burrata as much. It is such an interesting dish. Chilli fried chicken was more like popcorn chicken but it was good - the eggplant stir fry was good as well. Fried rice with smoked duck was good. Would skip the spicy boiled beef next time. Overall it was a good dining experience

Wow!! Delicious. I have been to the sister restaurant in Brooklyn and had high expectations for By Antidote and it exceeded them. Food was fabulous and portions are generous. Michelle was our server and she was great and super helpful. Will definitely be adding it to my rotation.

Mike makes amazing cocktail! My favorite is spotlight, it’s sweet, floral, and beautifully balanced. Really elegant flavors that felt thoughtfully crafted and not overpowering at all. Food was AMAZING! Century Egg w/ Burrata, Braised pork ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yelp
So glad that @antidote__nyc , one of my favorite Sichuan / Chinese restaurants in NYC, now has a location conveniently located in Manhattan! The century egg + burrata is a must order! Goes surprisingly well together instead of tofu

Yelp
Wow the food here is awesome. Really excellent flavors and spice levels (not spicy just for the sake of spiciness). Loved the Century Egg with Burrata (must get, though wish it came with more Youtiao!), Mala Soup Dumplings, Dandan Noodles, Soft Shell Crab and the Eggplant...seriously everything we ordered I would be happy to eat again. We ordered all of this for two and it probably would have fed three. Docking a star because service felt a bit haphazard. After we ordered our server never appeared again and we constantly needed to ask for new plates. Additionally, pacing all felt a bit rushed.

Yelp
Came during soft opening and loved it! So glad there's an offshoot of Antidote in Manhattan now! Started with the Spotlight cocktail, which was light and delicious, presented beautifully. Had to get the Flatiron-exclusive century egg + burrata dish -- super creative and a good app! The chili oil underneath is very spicy, beware. I wish this came with more youtiao. I had leftovers and took this home and ate it with sourdough though, and it was still delicious. Pork soup dumplings are good, nothing crazy. A little steep at $8 for 3. Dan dan noodles were delicious. I love salted egg yolk crab tofu, and the dish at By Antidote did not disappoint. The Slice Beef Chili Oil was a little too spicy for me, but my friend who grew up eating mala in the Xi'an area of China said it was very authentic. I liked the addition of cabbage and glass noodles. Overall, great ambience for elevated chinese food. Nice bar, good lighting for a date night. The only thing is they have a 1.5 hour seating limit, which felt a bit rushed, especially since we got so many dishes. I guess that's what it's like when a hot new restaurant opens in Manhattan.

Yelp
Liked the vibe. Clientele was dressed so nice and seemed like trend setters. Food: Best dish - century egg with burrata. Every restaurant has that one dish and I think this is it. 5/5 Mala soup dumplings - it was different and I liked it. 4/5 Crab fried rice. It was good. Probably would have tasted the same without the crab. 4/5 Braised pork with mustard greens. 4.5/5 Boiled fish 4.5/5

Yelp
This is the chicken Kung Pao. This was a Reddit recommendation. $24 and an extra $3 for a fairly small container of rice. I can't stand when they don't tell you about not coming with rice. For this price, I was expecting something amazing. And sadly no. First this is the worst chicken I've had. I think they use breasts instead of thighs and these were woody and chewy. Doesn't make sense to make the chunks that large. The sauce was too sweet and had far too many Sichuan peppercorns but not enough heat. Was it the worst Kung pao I've ever had? But at this price, this ain't it. I think if they just switch their chicken up, at least they'll be moving in the right direction

Yelp
I've been meaning to try Antidote in Brooklyn so I'm glad they opened By Antidote closer to me! I stopped by during their soft opening and had a great time! Started off with the century egg with burrata which I hear is a popular app. It was quite interesting to me to mix all the umami flavors of the century egg with the creaminess of the cheese and spicy/savoriness of the chili oil. I like the key was the chili oil because it really drove the show with its seasoning. The fried dough (油条) was chewy but wish it was warmer. The crab and pork XBL (蟹肉小笼包) packed good flavors but wish the dumpling skin was more thin. For mains, the fei-hong softshell crab (飞鸿软壳蟹) was delicious! Not only were the crab pieces nicely fried and well-seasoned, the chili peppers were also fried thoroughly that they felt like chips to me! Loved the generous addition of sesame and peanuts. The sliced fish in chili oil (水煮鱼) was solid. I liked how the fish pieces were pretty fresh. It came with a good amount of glass noodles, cabbages, and green onions. While I loved the spicy flavors, I missed the numbing from the peppercorns. So glad they offer peashoots because I was craving them all week. I loved how the straightforward garlic flavors helped balance the meal's spiciness. For drinks, the Spotlight was very tasty with its guava-forward flavors! I would have preferred my drink to be served in a smaller glass given the giant ice cube. Staff were nice and polite, but did miss one of our orders. Decor is cute with the fun graphics and dim lighting! Lots of potential of becoming a 5 for me! I look forward to coming back when they are fully opened!

That Buratta dish fire. Everything else is Chinese staples but that dish was truly unique

Yelp
Had such a great experience here! The service was genuinely wonderful, everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel taken care of without ever being overbearing. Our food came out quickly and everything was delicious. The drinks were also amazing: well-made, flavorful, and some of the best I've had in a while. I live in Gramercy, and this is my new go-to spot. Perfect vibes, great menu, and consistently good service.

Yelp
If I were ever considering moving out of the neighborhood, it can never happen now. This block of 20th street may have the best variety and quality of food in the area and by Antidote is the newest arrival to this pack of dynamite food experiences. So far have been here twice in the roughly two weeks since opening and I don't see that frequency changing. This is some of the best Sichuan in the city. The crispy fried chicken is spicy crunchy, tender and addictive, the eggplant, sweet, crispy, smooth and the perfect foil to the mostly spicy counterparts throughout the remainder of the menu. Dan dan noodles perfectly chewy and just fabulous. Tomato and plum app was beautiful little jeweled sugar bombs. My main problem is that I keep adding dishes to my must order list every time I'm here which means in a few weeks I will probably be ordering the entire menu everytime I come. Really fabulous.
