"By George debuted in October 2019 at the Candler Hotel on Peachtree Street. Located on the first floor of the circa 1906 building, the restaurant serves what’s described as an “American contemporary” menu with dishes like heirloom tomato salad, steamed mussels, wild mushroom ragout pappardelle, and a grilled Berkshire pork chop. Make sure to order wine and cocktails here. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Reservations highly encouraged." - Henna Bakshi, Eater Staff
"Located on the first floor of this circa 1906 building, now home to the luxurious Candler Hotel, By George serves “American contemporary” dishes paired with cocktails and wine. This is old-school restaurant elegance where imported gray marble columns stand like monoliths in the dining room and brass and crystal chandeliers hang above tables in a space filled with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The original bank vaults from the historic Candler building still reside beneath the restaurant." - Beth McKibben, Eater Staff
"Book a table at By George, located inside the historic Candler Hotel. Not only is the 1906 building storied and elegant, the classic yet contemporary menu features everything from Za’atar Roasted Chicken to a center-cut filet. Paired with dreamy and imaginative cocktails such as “Southern Heart” or “Crushed Velvet,” any Pisces will be on cloud nine." - Denise K. James

"Downtown is that awkward kid on the playground you only bothered with when they had a toy you really wanted to play with. By George in the Candler Hotel is that shiny toy that makes up for any grievances you have about being downtown. Come for lunch, get a booth right in the center of the restaurant, and look out through big glass windows that show panoramic street views—the Marta streetcar makes cool cameo appearances. For lunch, order a simple sandwich and tomato soup or a classic burger and fries. Since the restaurant is housed in an old historic building (circa 1906) with French brasserie vibes, even these solid, get-the-job-done basics just feel like a departure from your normal burger lunch. Finish off lunch with the fluffy Coconut Tres Leches, which is reason enough to think more fondly of downtown." - nina reeder, demarco williams
