"This gluten-free and dairy-free bakery offers an entire array of kosher sweets, from small pastries to cakes, as well as a challah that is available in the shop on Fridays, or by custom order. While one’s mileage may vary on the gluten-free rugelach which sports a softer texture, By the Way’s menu has a number of standouts, including the mini apple bundt cake (a favorite on Rosh Hashanah), a surprisingly airy chocolate whoopie pie, and crusty, chewy almond cookies." - John Tsung, Eater Staff

Google
Amazing bakery!!had a custom cake made for my daughter’s sweet 16th bday. All I sent them was a picture (not even a good one we found online) and not only did they make it exactly what my daughter wanted, but it was delicious! We were hesitant at first since we didn’t have good experiences with gluten free cake. This was the best moist and delicious gluten cake ever.

Google
Absolutely unbelievable and delicious - this has become "the go-to" kosher bakery for our family. The pastries - especially brownies - are delicious. There's no better kosher cake in the world. The service is off the charts too. We ordered two birthday cakes and one of them split down the middle on the way home and BTW humbly accepted responsibility and offered us a substitute in time for the birthday party. Simply unreal!

Google
Got a graduation cake for my girlfriend and it was one of the best that we and our friends ever had. It tasted so good and no one had a clue it was gluten free or dairy free. I did custom decorations and they came out perfectly. Well done!

Sofia Bizioli

Google
this bakery is like paradise for coeliac people. here you can find many gluten-free pastries, cakes, and sweets. the quality is really high and the choice vast.

Google
Small modern bakery on Broadway & 90th. I find it a little too pricey. There are other bakeries I would go to first.

Dedicated gluten and dairy free! What a breath of fresh air to walk into a place where I could eat anything. This is a rare occasion as someone who is both gluten and dairy free. As so many of us know, gluten free is hard enough to find, but when you find it, it often contains dairy (in particular baked goods), so I felt like a kid in a candy store looking at all of the options. The only drawback was that when we visited only one of the cakes could be sold by the slice so that cut down options a bit. We arrived later in the afternoon when some options had already sold out but opted for the lemon cupcake and the donut cream puffs. When I tell you that I will be dreaming about both of these items for a very long time, I am being totally serious! My non gluten free partner tried both and he loved them - you’d never know that they were gluten AND dairy free. We would have loved to go back but didn’t have time in the end and the items are fairly pricey, however the luxury of being able to eat anything they offer was worth the money. I wish this was a national chain! I guess I’ll just have to wait until my next trip to New York. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Amy McKinstry

Google
I had no idea this place was GF and Dairy Free... Now it makes sense why the cream puff didn't have any cream lol. Instead of cream, it has a cookie dough like consistency in the middle, and it just works. As an avid sweet enthusiast, these were great! I will definitely stop by again.

Google
Great gluten free and dairy free treats. But the service on Sat 9 Sep was so unfriendly. They really didn’t look like they wanted to be there.

Jimmy K.

Yelp
This bakery was a great find. I'm gluten intolerant and my friend is allergic to soy and dairy. Yet we were able to find something that suits us both. Tasted great too!

Allen A.

Yelp
Great people - cute shop. The muffin was good but I would not get the coffee again. I do love that this shop is in the area. I came for breakfast but it looked like a place that sells a lot of cakes too.

Emm C.

Yelp
The cakes are $40 but hubs is DF and I'm GF. I totally love the little cookies. Cake was too sugary for me and gave me a carb crash. Nice service. I've had coffee here as well to go w bag of cookies. Sooo good! Not a place to sit down tho.

susie K.

Yelp
Was I concerned about visiting this place so late in the day? Yes. Was I disappointed? .....being gluten-free and dairy-free, i am used to disappointment... But No! ...although, I did overhear the person in front of us say that they were out of their first choice....I was super happy with sharing a delicious whoopie pie and cinnamon chocolate chip muffin. PS - I had intended to snap a pic of the place and the yummy treats but the line moved quickly and there's really no indoor seating so we happily gobbled up our delicious treats on the move.

Sami N.

Yelp
My colleague brought these cupcakes to work and WOW! I have been gluten free for over ten years and these are some of the best I have ever eaten! I was shocked they were gluten free!

Emma M.

Yelp
By the Way Bakery made the cake for my grandpa's 90th birthday, and it was really good. The cake was delicious and had the perfect look too. It had a sandy beach look with a picture of my Grandpa in his younger years. The cake was delicious, and I always expect and get the best from By the Way Bakery, and they exceeded those expectations! I am beyond happy with this experience, and I'm so happy that we utilized this bakery.

candice B.

Yelp
Very good baked goods and gluten free!! Definitely recommend. Muffins, cookies and cakes are very tasty.

Celena C.

Yelp
Got some mini cakes for a gluten-free, and she liked it! I tried a bit too, and they weren't bad. I got the Lemon Poppy and Apple mini cakes. The Lemon Poppy was moist and had just the right amount of sweetness. The Apple mini cake tasted a bit more basic / muted. It wasn't too sweet. It wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't get it again because they have a lot of other baked goods to try.

Liz L.

Yelp
Giving it one star for a few reasons. For starters i was dressed in streetwear attire, i walked past the bakery and was really excited to see non dairy and gluten free! Upon entering there are two young ladies it's a fairly small bakery. One of them made a comment and though maybe i didn't hear it she said "oh she's not going to buy anything" ..... it's a bakery mama are you making commission off cupcakes lol? Girl bye. Then she tells the girl , I'll be right back & leaves. Lol MMm Okay??.... Anyways i ended up getting a raspberry lemonade cupcake. $5.00 for a bare minimum cupcake just like innocent yesterday no bueno This cupcake was dryyyyyyy , the frosting didn't even taste like raspberry lemonade. The vegan cupcakes at a supermarket were better quality. Very disappointed + that experience wasn't cute, never visiting here again.

Chrissy R.

Yelp
Omg so good - can't tell it's gluten and dairy free. So moist and delicious! Thanks for accommodating dietary restrictions!

Adrienne N.

Yelp
Beautiful, decadent, delicious cake for an extra-special occasion. My dad is gluten-free and he was so happy to be able to indulge with all of us. Thank you for providing such amazing treats to the community!

Sissy H.

Yelp
I bought an almond orange cake and a layered cake with vanilla spongecake and chocolate frosting for a family holiday dinner earlier this week. Both gluten free. They were way too sweet. Both cakes could have been delicious with just half the sugar.

Merav L.

Yelp
I had to look for kosher pastries for an event. I found them online and I went to take a look and "sample". I am opposing gluten free and dairy free regimen unless you ahve. a real medical reason for that. But they are GF and dairy free and Kosher. The girls at the counter were very kind and patient, answered all my questions. I tried the peacan chocolate cookies, the raspberry bar and the Linzer and I have to say, I was surprised. THe raspberry was nice though the crust was ruther dry and hard (understandably so) the pecan chocolate cookies was delicious, crumbly and moist and the linzer was also tastey and the crust was les fakey than a regular one but not hard like the raspberry one. Overall, service is their strong suit.

Dave R.

Yelp
Wow. One of the best cakes I've ever had. We got the 6 inch vanilla with a chocolate topping. Everyone at the party agreed this was an excellent cake. Even the kids there said it was the best cake of their lives and these kids eat a lot of cake. Also, Diana at the bakery was awesome in helping us secure a cake the morning of the party. Will be purchasing from here again

Cheryl P.

Yelp
Ever since buying my first cake from By the Way, I was already thinking about what flavor I'd try next. I couldn't resist ordering another layer cake to bring to a holiday gathering and I made sure to place my order early enough for pick up. I ended up settling on the latte layer cake and it was so delicious!! I enjoyed it more than the double chocolate one. It's a vanilla cake with latte frosting and my only gripe is that there weren't more chocolate covered espresso beans on the top. I also ordered a gingerbread from their Christmas menu this season - it was a little pricey at $7 per cookie. Gingerbread is one of my favorites and I was a tiny bit disappointed with how crumbly my cookie was, but it may have just been from an off batch because everything else that I've tried from this bakery is amazing and I'm so grateful that they offer such delicious gluten-free desserts :)

Agapito G.

Yelp
Amazingly delicious gluten free bakery. BTW made the most beautiful and decadent Birthday cake for my daughter. My daughter was happily surprised. Everyone loved it. I sampled a few individual cakes and other items before I ordered the cake and loved it all.

Jim G.

Yelp
You do not get many choices when you must avoid Gluten, but this bakery is like a breathe of fresh air. The cup Cakes are Great! I tried Lemon and Vanilla. The Blondes are also very good, but for me, the Raspberry Bars stole the show. Will be there again in the near future.

Marie S.

Yelp
By the Way Bakery is one of those old-fashioned kind of places that's become a rarity in NYC. After a lot of searching, I discovered a few things: 1) The website states "all of our baked goods are gluten-free & dairy- free ...& certified kosher" 2) everything is made by hand 3) freshness is key 4) they deliver ! I placed an order for a bunch of cupcakes & the lemon poppy mini cake. Well I wish I had more photos but the cupcakes literally disappeared before I could turn around and get one for myself. No problem because the lemon poppy mini cake was totally delicious! It had a perfect balance of sweetness offset by intense lemon - but it was the way the flavors were balanced that really impressed me. Not too sweet, not too tart, just perfect! And gluten free too - you'd never guess.

Paige H.

Yelp
Yum!!!! I have had so many treats from here -- my friend introduced me in 2020 -- but this most recent time was bar none. I got a birthday cake for a girlfriend who is neither GF or DF, but 2/3 of us on a girls trip are DF and the GF is a bonus for anyone with digestion issues :) the cake was delicious, moist, flavorful, and beautiful. I got the black and white with rainbow sprinkles and purple inscription atop the mound of YUM! The customer service is marvelous... this is a must-go-get-everything kind of place!!!

Marianne W.

Yelp
By the Way Bakery Cute little bakery for take out only. Great customer service and friendly staff. Very patient with me looking up ingredients due to my allergies. Unfortunately most gluten free pastry shops predominantly use soy in everything. I have a problem with soybean. There are two pastry options without soy. I took photos so you can see how beautiful the products are displayed. For those of you without food sensitivities I highly recommend. Just be prepared to fix your coffee, buy pastry, and leave. It's a small place. One time of year I make an exception. Food sensitivities or not, the holiday cookies are the bomb!

Kate R.

Yelp
Ordered their GF pumpkin pie for thanksgiving and it was amazing! Gluten free people want pie on holidays too. The bakery was clean and cute. Definitely returning to try their other stuff soon!

Joan M.

Yelp
Apple heaven! Burry me in lemmon poppy seed! Staff is so nice. Virgin first timer, when I asked cusromers what do they recommend they all started raving about what they loved. In the receipt is says discount for being awesome! What the hell, who does that? By The Way, that's who!

Tiffany J.

Yelp
My friend got me a few pastries from here to cheer up my day and wow absolutely amazing. As someone who has gluten and dairy allergy, this place is a gem!! The desserts are delicious, can't even tell they're GF. Thank you for creating a bakery that caters to people with allergies and making it so incredibly yummy. Please support this local business!!

Giacomo C.

Yelp
I got here on a Monday after lunch and there wasn't much left. The remaining cookies looked a little dated. This is essentially a take out place, with very little space inside and no seats. I tried one of their pecan turtles and it was ok. Would like to go back and taste some of their missing cookies when they're freshly baked. Friendly and welcoming service.

Mona O.

Yelp
This has become our family favorite. The desserts are all so fresh and there is always something for everyone. My kids LOVE the brownies and chocolate chip cookies , my husband is a fan of the muffins , but my favorite is the red velvet cupcakes. You truly can't go wrong with anything you eat there. We ordered a special order cake for my daughter's birthday party and it was so beautiful and tasty! The staff is so friendly and patient ( even with the kids that sometimes take longer than they should with deciding , or change their minds). It is true what they say , a smile and a friendly face is contagious and you can always count on a smile from their faces. The bakery itself is adorable and always so neat and clean!

Yelp
I have been a customer of By the Way Bakery since they opened years ago. I highly, highly recommend them. Often gluten free baked goods are crushingly sweet to help compensate for the lack of gluten. Not at By the Way - everything is flavorful and delicious. I just had one of their seasonal baked jelly doughnuts (sufganiyot-for hanukkah) what a treat! One day during the pandemic I stopped in for an order - I was juggling several bags and was stressed out anyway and bam, the tin I had ordered popped out of my hand, opened up and everything fell on the floor. The staff very kindly assisted me and replaced some of the order. Hats off to a wonderful establishment. The baked goods are dairy free as well.

Giovanna P.

Yelp
Was walking around the area and stumbled across the shop. I had heard great things about it so figured I could give it a try. I had an amazing iced coffee with almond milk - perfect for a hot Summer day. The pastries are all so beautiful and I was impressed to learn ALL of them are gluten/dairy free AND kosher! I wanted to try everything but figured I'd go with the Fall themed mini pumpkin bundt. It was SO good! Gluten free baked goods are challenging to create since some blends cause them to come out either dry or super heavy/greasy (coming from a serious amateur baker lol) and they did an amazing job! The mini cake was moist and delicious! Can't wait to come back soon and try more treats. Also the girls working that day were super nice!

Chrissy F.

Yelp
Everything here is so amazing even the staff. Every time I come here I enjoy all the bake goods. The mini cakes are to die for and the cupcakes are so good better than any neighborhood bakeries.

LT O.

Yelp
Fantastically delicious cakes!!! Who said you can't have a fabulous gluten free cake, you can!!!! I love the always smiling faces when I walk in to this wonderful wonderland of deliciousness!!!! By far the best bakery anywhere!!!

Jenny K. L.

Yelp
Everything is gluten free and dairy free. It is a freeing paradise to pick whatever you want from the menu without having to ask. The traditional chocolate frosting and vanilla inside cake was exactly what was expected. Their chocolate brownie was decadent and delicious! I would never have been able to tell that it was gluten and dairy free. Their chocolate chip cookies crumbled faster but nonetheless was also good. But those brownies....yum.

Alli K.

Yelp
Allow me a moment or two to hardcore gush... Hiya, Covid-impacted, gluten-free bride here! My large-ish wedding was transformed into a small, backyard wedding due to Covid. I wasn't planning on a cake, because I didn't think it would be possible to find a tasty gluten-free cake. Enter Helene and By the Way Bakery! *cue a fairy godmother, magical theme song* Helene swung into action to talk me (and my now husband!) through all the cake options. She answered all of our questions, had a tremendous amount of patience as we went back and forth on details, and was quick to get us all the information we needed. As if a global pandemic wasn't enough to deal with... Enter the big August 2020 storm. Dun, dun, dunnnnn! By the Way Bakery was among the many establishments that lost power and were without for longer than they should have been. Helene called me to explain the situation, apologize for it, and tell me that she was in the process of buying a generator to try to get her locations back on the grid. While we were really looking forward to having a tasty gluten-free cake, it seemed like the cards were not stacked in our favor. But, somehow, HELENE CAME THROUGH! And, let me tell you... it was more amazing than I could have ever expected! I'm still drooling at the thought of the magical slice of heaven that By the Way Bakery created. Lemon poppy cake with raspberry jam and lemon curd filling with a vanilla chiffon frosting. This is was not only the best wedding cake we (and our guests) have ever tasted, but it was also just an ah-mazing cake. Best. Cake. Ever. Hard stop. No caveats. Period. I cannot thank Helene or her staff at By the Way Bakery enough for their commitment to baking incredible products AND ensuring that this Covid-couple got the wedding cake of their dreams!

Macie L.

Yelp
Such yummy GF treats with a large selection to choose from. So thankful By the Way is in NYC :)

Jane D.

Yelp
We've stopped in a few times for small snacks (cookie-type things) over the years, since this place is right around the corner from where our kids used to take swim lessons. They were, IIRC, enjoyable and tasted as good as their gluten / dairy-inclusive counterparts, but were not otherwise memorable except for maybe their slightly spendier than usual price tag. This past weekend, however, a friend brought over a lemon poppyseed bundt cake that absolutely floored me. It was wonderful by any standard: redolent with natural lemon flavor, moist with a perfect, slightly dense (but not too dense) crumb, just the right degree of sweet. I wouldn't've guessed that it was gluten free (and dairy free, I believe). It had the same consistency, mouthfeel, and nuanced fragrance as a sour cream filled version I sometimes make for loved ones on special occasions. I can't personally vouch for other products at this store, and I'm a little frightened to look up the price tag for this cake. But it was made with the level of quality I'm accustomed to encountering only at bigger name places like a Dominique Ansel, Bouchon, or Maison Kaiser. This was good cake, kids. I see no option but to stop back in to try some other items.

Marci A.

Yelp
Oh my goodness I am impressed. I wanted something sweet and came in for a cookie (but left with three) and god they are amazing. Best cookies I've had in a long time, I can't wait to come back and try the rest (I got the almond one and the fudge ones) soooooooo good!

JP P.

Yelp
This location has the cutest storefront! I love coming here and always leave with something that is delicious and makes me want to comeback for more. I ordered three dozen cupcakes from here for a party in Brooklyn and they were the hit of the party. I am glad no one realized they were gluten free! I also enjoy the fact that I can go to Whole Foods and get a slice of their amazing lemon coconut cake or the chocolate cake. This bakery has figured out how to make gluten free items edible and enjoyable. I'm looking forward to stopping in and seeing what's new! Keep up the great work; you are making gluten free dreams come true!!!!!

Ashley B.

Yelp
We came here after walking through the park on a weekend stroll. We sauntered in on a whim and ordered the pumpkin mini bundt and the lemon poppy seed. We raced home and devoured both of them almost immediately. The lemon poppy seed could have used more of the poppy seed but the lemon notes were strong and complemented the poppy very well. It was absolutely scrumptious. We shared the pumpkin mini bundt which was a seasonal delectable dessert. The pumpkin was not super strong, but there were definitely notes of cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and other spices. Both of these were incredible with tea. They had a wide variety of pastries including pumpkin cheesecake, a chocolate torte cake, dark chocolate brownies that melt in your mouth (I unabashedly tried about 4 of these), and many others. Definitely come over whenever you have the chance and are in the neighborhood! It's a great neighborhood bakery with friendly staff and delicious pastries.

Madison S.

Yelp
Everything I have gotten here for SO delicious. I've often times chosen this over regular bakeries. If you don't have any allergies to dairy, gluten, etc. you genuinely will not even realize that these goods are dairy/gluten free. Cannot recommend enough.

Alessandra C.

Yelp
Wow! I mean. I can't say enough about this little gem. I was in the upper west side to meet my boyfriend for dinner, but he had another 20 minutes of work, so I walked around a bit and came across this little bakery. My sweet tooth was craving so I walked in. From the outside it's a window shop, and they have a small table right in the front side of the store (so you can eat and people watch at the same time ;) there is a small bench right out front of the store which is perfect for nicer days! The interior is small, quiet and quaint. There is a lovely wooden display of about 8 different types of sweets on the left side, and a few mason jars filled with cookies on the right. Everything looked so delicious, I was having a difficult time deciding. I had heard that their sour cherry cake was what they were known for, they had a mini version in their display, so I picked up one of those, a cinnamon apple mini cake and after seeing that there was a carrot cake hiding in the back, I also asked for a slice. The cakes aren't very visible so if I were to critique anything about by the way bakery it would be to have those front and center so customers could see them! Other than that everything about this place was perfect. There was a section for coffee and tea and had all different milks as well as agave liquid sweetener for you to add yourself. They had 8 of the cutest Halloween cards displayed on their wall, available for purchase! The young girl working was very kind as well as informative. I didn't catch her name as she didn't have a name tag however I wish I had because she was an example of how everything employee/cashier should be. She knew about each item in the shop and was helpful to me. I asked if any of the items were gluten free (I'm not but a few of my cousins are intolerant so I'm always curious in case I want to pick something up for a party) she explained that everything in their bake shop is gluten free, and some even dairy free! They use a mix of almond flour, tapioca flour, coconut, chickpea and rice flour! The baker experiments and finds flours that mix well together. Being that I've tasted many dishes gluten free I know that the taste isn't always pleasant, it's usually dry, grainy or flaky! HOWEVER, to my great surprise I was SHOCKED to find out these baked goods were gluten free, not only were they delicious but the texture was fluffy, some were more fudge like in texture. My treats were delicious. Being known for their sour cherry, it was definitely a hit! I can see why it's so popular, and the carrot cake (which the young lady actually let me try) I am a HUGE carrot cake fan, but I get super disappointed when it's dry, flaky, hard or overly sweet. For this cake to be as good as it was AND gluten free I was mind blown. For realz, I might turn gluten free now, like all the other weirdos making it a new "diet fad" Just kidding, I'm not doing that. But I'll be ordering that cake for many parties to come! So good, if you see this shop, don't waste one minute, run in there...sprint in there, and order everything. No matter how full you are. Just do it.

Anne C.

Yelp
The prices are a little steep for what they were presenting. I got a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. You could definitely tell that the cream cheese frosting was dairy free but the cake itself was perfect! I wanted to add a small fondant bear head but they wanted to charge an extra $60. I passed just because the simplicity of the bear did not warrant the price tag. I also ordered a cake and the person I spoke to didn't put the order in so I had a minor panic moment where I thought I might have a cake in time. Luckily, they had what I wanted already made. I would come here again because it's hard to find a gluten free and dairy free bakery in the area and I'm glad that they're servicing those that can't have either! I don't think I would order their cakes again but their GF and DF small bundt cakes were adorable. I want to stress that they have good DF and GF options that are great! The small carrot cake was amazing and very moist.

Victoria B.

Yelp
AMAZING bakery!!! There's a large variety of treats, and every single one of them looked delightful. The bakery is also dairy and gluten free making it the perfect spot for those with allergies. The bakery is well kept and has a great selection of desserts. If you're in the area, give them a try. You will not be disappointed!! They also have three other locations (Upper East Side, Brooklyn and Hastings-on-Hudson). Highly recommend By The Way Bakery!

Jack M.

Yelp
I came here because Tim Ferriss raved about the gluten-free Almond Cookies. These were very underwhelming. At $2 they are overpriced. The cookie is nothing special that you couldn't get at a grocer. The bite begins with dry and crumbly shortbread crumb. Nothing special there. The filling of the cookie is a almond-flavored sugar paste. The filling is not complex in flavor at all. It tastes like sugar melted with imitation vanilla. Nothing about the mouthfeel or the flavor is interesting. Definitely don't bother spending $2 for the Almond Cookies.

Nicole M.

Yelp
Do not get sprinkled white frosted cake--it's gross! My dairy free friend recommended this place so I was excited to try. Had to purchase a last minute birthday cake and went for the most festive one. The staff were really friendly and even wrote on it for me. The huge disappointment was the frosting which tasted like coconut lotion! Frosting had no flavor and a weird coconut oil like consistency. I was really disappointed and apologetic to the birthday girl. Understand that maybe the bakery does other desserts better. Please tweak your sprinkles cake!

Laila G.

Yelp
I come in to this bakery at least once a month and now will not be coming back. While the young lady was making my tea I see out of the corner of my eyes A MOUSE coming from under the door they enter their kitchen with! I can't imagine how sanitary their goods may be being out in the open all day especially if they have mice. Beware of neighboring restaurants, if one has them they all do

Eunice K.

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars, I would. By the Way Bakery has their sh!$ together. This place is amazing. My company ordered 4 huge cakes from them to celebrate Pride month. They were phenomenal throughout the whole ordering to delivery process. If you need a cake, I would definitely recommend BTW bakery. No one could believe these cakes are gluten free, dairy free. We had vanilla frosting on vanilla bread, chocolate frosting on vanilla bread, strawberry filling on funfetti bread, and vanilla frosting on funfetti bread. My favorite was the vanilla bread w chocolate frosting but they were all 10/10. No fondant, all edible delicious frosting. This place is the best.

Lauren L.

Yelp
We ordered a custom cake here & the process was so easy and everything turned out exactly as expected. Absolutely beautiful cake and it tasted even better than it looked! The cake was for someone with a dairy allergy and even though no one else had an allergy we all raved about the cake. Cannot recommend it enough!

Tina W.

Yelp
Location: UWS does have some interesting spots to visit. BTW bakery seems to be one of them. I have been longing to come here for a while since it has always been on my bookmark. But I seldom have the time to strolling around the neighborhood until now i finally made it here. The store is incredibly different from what I thought originally. It is small. Basically, do not even attempt to be here more than 10 mins. They do not have seats to sit and only a small bench to eat your bakery and leave. Nevertheless, the decoration is well intended - nice, sweet and very cute. Food: I had their lingers tart, and black chocolate cake... I am not impressed by neither of them. I do not know why.. It 's not too sweet but it is not well balanced either. I had a mini bunt cake back in Chapel hill, which is so much better than this and cheaper. So I just believed that I wont come back again. Price: I am especially not satisfied with the price. a cake is 5.5 and the tart is 4. And both are not what I love the best.. so I felt like my price did not pay what I indeed had. ... a bummer for sure. Service: the people is nice in a very offended way.. I told her that I wanted ... a chocolate bunt cake.. and she asked me twice ... And I was ordering the tart.. she was like... do you want it also and gave me the look.. that I felt like maybe I do not have the money to afford it?! Ugh Overall: 3 star is pretty bad. Do not come. Let this place die.

Yelp
BtwB over delivered!!!!! Needed a milestone birthday cake for a friend that tasted good, was elegant and matched her birthday theme colors. Helene was super helpful and worked with me. Sent her photos and she gave me suggestions on the cake design. She assured me it would look amazing and she was RIGHT!!!! The cake looked great and tasted amazing. Thanks Helene and Jeanna. **Blurred out the name on the cake

Yelp
Four stars for experience, five stars for being accessible to people with dietary restrictions! I hadn't realized I live so close to By the Way Bakery, so once I found out about this place, I immediately made a trip. Even though I never really reach for gluten free options, because given the choice, why would I, I wanted to give the bakery a chance anyways. I walked in 10 minutes from closing, and there were a handful of people still in the bakery. I asked what their specialty was, and one of the girls said the almond cookie is "award winning" so I got that! As soon as I bit into the Almond cookie, I could see why they say it's award winning. I expect most gluten free items to be dry and crumbly but the cookie was moist, dense, and soft! A little on the expensive side (the cookie was $2) but that's understandable. I'm very happy I visited BTW, and I can't say I'll be coming back, but I'm grateful they're doing a great service by providing delicious treats to people who don't have as many options as the rest of us.

Yelp
By the Way Bakery was fantastic to work with on my wedding cake and custom dessert order. They helped my fiancé and I select the perfect set of treats for our guests. I received so many compliments the day of the wedding... most saying it was the BEST wedding cake they'd ever tasted. Not to mention, many of them were blown away that it was Gluten, Dairy, and Soy free. I am so grateful that I found BTW and that they could help me have the cake of my dreams (without sacrificing anything due to my food allergies). You are really just so amazing.
