"Anytime we walk into a restaurant and make eye contact with a pizza oven, we immediately order whatever’s coming out fresh from the forno. Byblos Mediterranean Kitchen in La Crescenta-Montrose happens to have its own oven and cranks out excellent Armenian lahmajoun with crispy crusts, minced meat, and tons of fresh herbs. We also can’t recommend this restaurant’s cold appetizers enough, with their delicious muhammara, basturma (cured beef), and shanklish (dried cheese with olive oil and vegetables) being some top contenders. The shakshuka is also one of our favorites around and comes with plenty of bell peppers, onion, and chunky tomato sauce. The breakfast dish is nicely balanced with plenty of cumin and smokey paprika, and should definitely be part of your spread the next time you stop by." - sylvio martins

Byblos Mediterranean Kitchen in La Crescenta-Montrose happens to have its own oven and cranks out excellent Armenian lahmajoun with crispy crusts, minced meat, and tons of fresh herbs. We also can’t recommend this restaurant’s cold appetizers enough, with their delicious muhammara, basturma (cured beef), and shanklish (dried cheese with olive oil and vegetables) being the top contenders. The shakshuka is also one of our favorites around and comes with plenty of bell peppers, onion, and chunky tomato sauce. The breakfast dish is nicely balanced with plenty of cumin and smokey paprika, and should definitely be part of your spread the next time you stop by. Food Rundown Muhammara You get everything you want in a dip in this muhammara and then some. It’s creamy and nutty from the walnuts, the pomegranate molasses provides a zing of acid, and the aleppo pepper brings just enough burn to keep us intrigued and vigorously dipping our pita bread in. Lahmajoun If you’re only going to get one thing at Byblos, make it these chewy and deliciously blistered flatbreads coming out hot from the pizza oven. The minced beef topping is full of aromatic spices, fresh parsley, garlic, and onion, and the chopped tomatoes and spritz of lemon on top make all of the different flavors really pop. Shanklish This salty and mild dried cheese has the texture of crumbled cheese curds and is a must-try when ordering mezze at Byblos. It’s seasoned with chopped tomato, red onion, oregano, and a generous amount of olive oil that blends all of the fresh ingredients together. Shakshuka This shakshuka isn’t the smooth tomato sauce we’re used to seeing, but rather a chunky mix of roasted bell peppers, sweet onions, and bright tomatoes. We actually don’t mind the extra texture from the vegetables, and it has a nice savoriness from plenty of cumin and paprika. Zaatar Flatbread Just some tasty flatbread topped with copious amounts of olive oil and a thick caking of za’atar, what more could you want? It’s nutty, tangy, and should 100% make its way to your table. Manti These oven-baked dumplings are filled with spiced beef that’s tender and deliciously browned in the oven. Everything gets cooled down with a garlicky yogurt sauce and a tangy roasted tomato sauce that sneaks its way into all of the dumplings’ crevices." - Sylvio Martins

The shawarma pizza is delicious. The crust is different than regular pizzas and has a Mediterranean twist. It’s tastefully different.

Absolutely amazing. Very expansive menu, including breakfast items and brick oven pizzas but known for their Mediterranean food. The lule kabob was a bit dry, I think mine just got over cooked but I’ll definitely try it again another day. I also want to try their other items. The chicken shawarma was amazing. Staff was amazing and super nice. Customer bathrooms available and a small parking lot on the corner.

Byblos, hands down, makes everything the best! All their food items are incredible! You can taste the quality of their ingredients! Hands down the best Lebanese Armenian bakery and cafe in this entire Socal region! The owner and staff know what they are doing! Best food!

I have been coming here for years - one night we were shorted on our chicken plate which I found after bringing a take out order home and they were closed at that point. It was literally only a few bites of chicken. I was not sure if it was a mistake, since the other food was fine and portions are good here otherwise. I emailed them through their website and no response. I called them and no response. I ordered food from them again and brought up the previous experience, and they remembered my name, which underscores the fact that they got my email message and they promised to respond, but they never did. For this reason I can only give 2 stars since this was a major issue and they cant be troubled to even respond to me, after spending $70 plus for takeout dinner for 2 people. If they were short on chicken, they could have been more upfront with me and tried giving something else to make up for the shortage of chicken, which was barely a quarter of what we received in the past when ordering the chicken plate. Since a manager was not even able to respond to us, we probably wont be coming here again.

They’re back and even better than before! Bigger dining space, great ambiance, and the food tasted so fresh and delicious. It’s our Mediterranean go-to place!

Very good food. Breads baked in the 700 degree oven were awesome!!!

Second time eating here and I felt compelled to leave a review. The kebab portions were generous and flavorful without tasting overly salty. The hummus tasted authentic with lots of tahini flavor and creamy texture. Pickles and pita rounded out the pleasant experience. Staff were polite and efficient. There is limited parking in an adjacent lot and some street parking, but the lunch rush — a nearby school, no doubt — means you should get there early to beat the crowd.

This place is amazing. The amount of food per serving is really great. We had the falafel, the vegetarian plate, the schwarma, and the kebob. We also had the dessert pizza. The dessert pizza was great and the falafel was good as well. The place seems super popular. I love the yogurt drink.
