Bye and Bye

Great bar in Alberta with a vegan menu! I’m used to only having a few vegan food options on a menu, so I was overwhelmed a bit by how many great choices Bye and Bye had. Ordered a few different things for our table and the favorite was definitely the buffalo soy curl wrap. Great selection of NA drinks as well. We visited on a trivia night and had a really awesome time. Can’t wait to be back!

We loved everything about this place! The food is amazing. We especially loved the Weeping Tiger tofu sandwich, the meatball sub, and the Italian deli sandwich. The pretzel knots were also great. The soy curl buffalo wrap was good, but I think I've found that I'm just not that into the "buffalo" flavor in general - no fault of theirs, though. I'm looking forward to trying their bowls and brunch. The drinks were excellent, and I was impressed with how fancy the zero proof cocktails were for a very good price. The outdoor seating is plentiful (two patios!) and dog-friendly. Love that they are open late and are an option after many other places have closed for the night.

Giving this place a 5 star rating based on the ambiance, drinks and service. Very cool vibe and good choice of drinks. Didn't have any food, so can't comment on that. But my friend who ordered food really liked it. Street parking can be a little tough depending on the time of the day. They have a very cool outdoor seating area that should be fun during summers.

If driving through Portland and you need a relaxed, V and GF options, and glorious beer then look no further. Dog friendly outdoor area equipped with several options to help your pet be comfortable including a cool wall area that doesn’t have a lot of street foot traffic. Get the Benedict and potatoes, a crisp Pale Ale, and sit outside in the sun on a spring day.

Food is bad bad bad. We took a few bites and ended up leaving it was so bad. Ordered the Alberta Waffle. Waffle tasted like a basic continental breakfast waffle you get from a Days Inn. The gravy not only looked unappetizing, it was severely under seasoned. Also ordered the biscuits and gravy which was just a really dry biscuit with the same tasteless gravy. Service was friendly and prompt. Atmosphere was nice, open and appeared clean. I’m assuming people come here for drinks and NOT to eat.

This is SUCH good food! Literally everything is delicious from the drinks to desserts. Casual service, with ordering at the counter of the bar. Large outdoor area too which I imagine is lovely in the summer. I got the pretzel knots, buffalo soy curl wrap, mac n cheese, and my partner got chili pie. We also got a vegan cheese and cheesecake for dessert and ate the leftovers for days after. The house chips are deliciously seasoned. I think about the buffalo soy curl wrap at least a few times a week that is how much I like it and compare it to other vegan buffalo options. The chili pie was a surprise favorite. Honestly you could order anything on this menu and it would be worth it. Can't wait to come back to try more and enjoy the outdoor seating. Oh and did I mention they are open until 12 or 2:30 am? finally some late night vegan food at something that is more of a restaurant than just a bar with appetizers.

I recently watched the hit Netflix show ‘You Are What You Eat.’ Everyone should watch it! Not only is a Vegan diet healthier but it’s also a crucial step in attempting to save this planet. I just ate a wonderful vegan sandwich with a side of spicy black beans. Bye and Bye is close to my home, so I’m planning on now being a regular. CJ, the bartender and server, was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The food was amazing, great service, timely service, and it’s a relaxing space. “Research shows that vegan diets resulted in 75% less climate-heating emissions, water pollution and land use than diets in which more than 100g of meat a day was eaten. Vegan diets also cut the destruction of wildlife by 66% and water use by 54%, the study found.”

Bye and Bye offers both healthy and comfort vegan fare. The craft cocktails are delicious. they ha e a nice selection of craft beers. Outside, they have a spacious patio partially enclosed where they allow dogs. Inside, there is a nicely designed dining room that allows minors. So bring all your friends. Service is swift and friendly.

Bye Bye Vegan Restaurant blew me away with its vast array of food options! From starters to desserts, there's something for every palate. The drinks were equally impressive, adding an extra layer of delight to the dining experience. While the staff could have been a bit more upbeat, the cleanliness of the establishment didn't go unnoticed. Despite that, I would still highly recommend giving this place a try. There's so much happening here, making every visit an adventure in culinary exploration!

Each month, Untapped Trivia hosts trivia on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday, making it a delightful experience to enjoy trivia alongside drinks and food. The soy curl wrap is fantastic! Very savory and ideal for sharing. The mac and cheese was a bit watery, but breadcrumbs provided a nice crunch.

I've discovered vegan eggs benedicts..used to be my favorite brunch before going vegan. I don't know what magic was used to create this delicious eggs benedict that is vegan. It looks like eggs bennie, and when you cut into the poached egg, a river of yellow ran out. It tastes just like the eggs benedict that I loved in my former life. I also had a Spiced Hot Cider mocktail, and that was delicious. I met friends for brunch. I grabbed a booth with padded benches. Perfect since I've had an issue with my sciatica. Order and pay at the bar, bring number to your table. Loved it since no issues with check, and I had to hurry back to walk a dog, and I could leave as soon as I needed to. The bartender was friendly. Definitely will be coming back! Only negative is parking. Street parking in a popular spot. I parked around the block in a neighborhood. It was a pleasant walk on a nice day. Great start to a busy day!

Came to this restaurant to pass some time before an evening flight out of town. It was my first visiting. The staff is friendly and did a great job explaining the restaurant concept and making recommendations. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Had the avocado toast and tasted the mac and cheese. Both were delicious. Was able to connect to the wifi and get a little work out of the way. Will definitely return when I am in town again.

u/specialist_donut_206 on Reddit said this place was absolutely terrible so I decided to check it out. Unfortunately she was correct and it definitely isn't the same as the last place. She also seems like she has some severe mental illnesses as well. The Tecate was excellent, though!

The best savory vegan waffles I've had !!! Get the Alberta - you won't be disappointed. The tempeh cutlets were so tasty, I cannot believe I've been eating bland tempeh my whole life lol. The gravy was thick flavorful and rich without being greasy. The chili flakes were superb and added the right spice kick. Love love. Go here for brunch, especially if you're vegan!

This review actually pains me to write. The Bye and Bye was always my go to spot. Trusty deliciousness. The bowls were beyond delicious. And the Obie Bowl IS my favorite meal here in Portland. It was always good. Hearty, protein packed and so flavorful with loads of texture. So of course I'd ordered one. And I was told "it's not available anymore." I legit panicked. I was NOT happy. I ended up with the avocado toast because it seemed the most plant based option (no fake meats, etc.) My kids love the meatball sub and my husband loves fake meats. Now I WILL say, the avocado toast is really really good. It's not something I'd go out of my way to have, as I make a pretty good avocado toast myself, but it was delicious. The ambiance/vibe at the Bye and Bye continues to stay the same. Chill. I know it sounds crazy to drop two stars JUST because your favorite menu item is gone but y'all I would drive here, which isn't particularly close to me, whenever I needed a perfect meal. That is Obie's bowl to me. And I'm desperately sad it's gone. I hope you all bring that back because my birthday and mother's day won't be the same without it!!!

My friend and I were at a performance nearby and she suggested this for our unwind. She is a vegan and I love friend suggestions. I am a carnivore but genuinely just love good food and have a lot of close friends who are vegan. We managed a leisurely dinner and I feel like we went during a pretty perfect time - Sunday, late afternoon. I got a beyond burger and it was delicious but, I will say I wanted some fries which they do not have so that did disappoint. Their chips are good but ...sniffle... I appreciated the pickle until I took a bite and my pickle was floppy and not crunchy so it just seemed old and disappointing. My friend gave me a bite of her chili which is served over Fritos and that IS where it is at! Freaking delicious. I get having to go to the bar and order but, as an ADA person, I also am not a huge fan of having to stand in a line to order. It is awkward, especially trying to balance my cane with one hand and my drink, the standing number for my order, my wallet etc etc.... get back to my table... I tend to shy away from bars for food for this reason and prefer to just go to a restaurant. I have been hanging out with a friend who likes to go to bars for food and I love trying new places. I wished I had opted for the Mexican Coke versus their gun because the Coke from the tap was not great and tasted watered down. I genuinely do not drink a huge amount and am highly allergic to hops so I appreciate it when bars have their soda game on point and definitely notice when they don't. When we sat down after we had ordered our food, a person came in and said that they had been waiting for an hour for their food. We started panicking a bit because we wanted to make sure that we got to our movie on time. Thankfully, our food came out much faster than that. I will say that is one convenience of ordering upfront is that when you are done eating, you are done. The space itself I really liked and they have a lot of different spaces for small or larger parties of people.

The Bye and Bye is an all vegan bar in NE Portland. I am a teetotaler so don't drink yet am a longtime vegan so came here for the vegan food. Friendly service and comfortable ambience here. There is a wide range of vegan options to choose from. There was a couple of bowls that looked interesting. My server recommended the BBQ Brussels Bowl so this is what I went for. It came with BBQ tofu, Brussel sprouts, and brown rice. It was super tasty and nourishing. Recommended! Good size portion and price was affordable. I would definitely come back here to explore more of the menu.

I love you, Bye and Bye. Even my crippling social anxiety can't deter me from making the journey to get my meatball sub/weeping tiger fix. I'm not even vegan, but these sammiches got a hold on me. Service is great, food is top-tier, and I love the option of front or back patio. If you haven't been to Bye and Bye, I don't know what kind of stupid rock you've been living under. Jk, the rock you live under's probably not even that stupid. In conclusion, B&B 10/10.

Not even a vegetarian and this food was delicious. I had the Bye and Bye burger and it was amazing. The only issue I had was that I had to wait in the super long bar line to cash out after having my tab open.

The new Buffalo curl hoagie is insulting. Half the soy curls, twice the bread, $2 more. That math doesn't math. You can't appreciate the awesome flavors that are going on here because all you can taste is bread. I guess people at sweet hereafter enjoyed this thing but I'm going to assume they never had the wrap version. BRING BACK THE WRAP.

Second time here and it's always a delight to try vegan options. The frito pie is wonderful and the large cocktail 28 oz is the best and refreshing

I went on a first date here. He really enjoys this bar and has gone thousands of times. Both being vegans I also liked this place before. We got several drinks, had a great conversation and I was enjoying myself. When we end up kissing (keep in mind we were in an area with no one else there) and we were not being loud the security person came up to us and said if we were heading out (it was one hour to close) she then stated "you know what you were doing!". Which made me feel like an absolute shameful person kissing a man I'm attracted to in a bar consensually. It really made me wonder what was so bad? He even tipped very well. I really wish I knew this answer and I understand she's doing her job. But we weren't being naughty, dishonest and weren't disrespecting public space. I guess we aren't supposed to make out at this bar in a corner away from people

Do I have to say Bye and Bye? Can I say, HELLO and "can I stay for just a bit longer?" Because I absolutely love this all-vegan bar. We came here with the intention of a late dinner, but after seeing all the beers and ciders on tap, we decided to make it a night. Our server was super nice to let me try their ciders before committing, and my pint was only about $6 which is a great deal compared to other major cities. There were lots of ample seating both indoors and out. We were worried about crowds so we were able to find a corner to ourselves indoors while still having a wide open space to breathe in the fresh air from outside. You order everything at the bar and they bring out the food to your table. We started with their Pretzel Knots ($6) with mustard and a homemade cashew cheese sauce for dipping. When these were fresh and hot, they were amazing. A bit on the saltier side but you could shake it off. For our mains, we ordered their Peanut Broccoli Bowl ($12) and Weeping Tiger Sandwich ($11). OMG the bowl was bomb - nutritional yeast baked tofu with a generous helping of veggies and rice. The sauce was fire too. As for our sandwich, the sriracha and miso mayo blended all the veggies and tofu together really well. Only thing we wish was for the bread to have been toasted, but it was still delicious. Seriously, the food here was fantastic and elevated my expectations of what vegan bar food would be moving forward. Thanks Bye and Bye for the good time - sad to have left so soon!

So great! I don't make it this end of Alberta that often but we were meeting a visiting couple staying nearby. They're vegan and had no car. Great open Pub space with inventive vegan dishes. We were just drinking and snacking so a big combo bowl of BBQ tofu, battered tempeh and roasted brussel sprouts were perfect. Definitely adding this place to my list of meat-free spots!

Delicious drinks. They also offer mocktails $4, one of the cheaper spots in town for mocktails as it's becoming more trendy. Spacious bar with a lot of outside seating. Highly recommend dropping by on a nice day out

It pains me to do this, but the food quality has gone way down. The bread is almost always stale -- hard and almost moldy. If you order takeout, the tofu cutlets have a 50/50 chance of being seasoned. The tomatoes also almost not good. Not sure if they're buying too much and it's going to waste or what's going on. Maybe the chef changed. Idk. But I'm usually a weekly patron who is considering giving up. It sucks because they made so many other improvements that are great, but food quality control is suffering.

First time coming it was terrible. Bartender was so rude it's not even funny. Ever since then I've had multiple great experiences. Must've fired the bad one I guess. Anyways, yesterday on Valentine's Day we came here to get some food and they had a new Valentine's Day special sandwich. For gods sakes PLEASE put that sandwich on the permanent menu. Had hot honey and apple slices, wouldn't think that works well, but they made it work!

Mac and cheese is gross and is the texture of Elmer's glue. Came in to get some food to go but friend came without ID so they made us wait outside in the rain. Overall expensive and disappointing.

Great vegan fare that's fairly priced! A really great experience, friendly service, and cool vibes. What more can you ask for?

Loved this place! We stopped here while in town to grab dinner with friends. There's so much space so getting a table was easy. The cocktails were good. I got the Buffalo soy curl wrap and my husband got the meatball sub. Would definitely come back next time we're in town!

My review style is to marinate on my experience for a while, then write. Today I am ‍ to review this place. Calm environment. Chill AF staff. Great spirits/beer options. Order at bar. Seating inside and out. Garlic edamame was super flavorful. Could have eaten a Vat of that. Two entrees...bbq tofu with Brussels and rice. Man that bbq sauce was amazing. Brussels were good but not great, they needed more seasoning. The tofu and broccoli with peanut sauce and rice was a solid meal. Sriracha helped that dish along. I'd easily order both again. We got a side of tempeh and that was the star. Adding Sriracha elevated it! We also ordered the Oreo dream cake. Ohhh so good. Cake was not dry and the buttercream was amazing. Will be going here more often! Great first time.

I wanted so bad to like this place, but it just didn't deliver. I came in and had to wait to order, which is totally fine, but the bartender didn't even acknowledge my presence. Idk, I guess just felt a little off if that's where I'm supposed to order food during lunch hours. I ended up going for the peanut broccoli bowl, which tbh I couldn't even finish because there was so much peanut sauce drowning everything else it was hardly edible. The flavors were good otherwise, but would have been much better with the addition of maybe some carrots or something as well. Also, I love nutritional yeast, but there was more than enjoyable crusting the tofu. The only thing keeping the review at three stars was the addition of a side of tempeh. It was so good, breaded with cornmeal. Would consider coming back to try something with that in it! I bet this is a really cool spot at night when it's more of a bar setting.

I absolutely love the food, location, and ambiance of this place. It's amazing to be able to get food at a bar that tastes good, and isn't really really unhealthy. But the last 2 times I've been here I've been complete chaos from a service standpoint. The bar wasn't overly-full, but both times I've had to wait 45-60 minutes for food. Which is bad enough as-is, except that they told me the wait would be 30 when I ordered. And tonight when I went back to the bar to order another drink (I'd obviously finished the 1st while waiting) someone came and took the number off my table. I went back and asked about my food since it hadn't come nearly an hour later, and although they were apologetic and took the cost off my tab, I still had wait for them to make my food again. Last time I got my order, but it was three times longer a wait than I was told. And then someone's dog on the patio attacked my dog and left bloody marks on her face. I want to keep coming back here. Please be better.

Stop what you're doing- go here and eat this food and drink this beer. Seriously, I can't believe I'm saying this but the Frito pie is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Everything was so good. The edamame was yummy and gingery and fresh. The barbecue tofu was excellent, savory, had a nice texture, and was filling in a good way. Service was great prompt, and efficient, especially given that there was only one person working in front when we arrived. Varied seating options with outdoor options in the front and back little garden area. The indoors has high walls and great airflow. The beer was also really good. I had a sour that was very well balanced. But seriously the food!! I'm gonna be thinking about that for a while if we lived in Portland would be there weekly. Whether you are vegan or not, you really should make this place a must visit on your next trip to Portland.

Bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Nice heaters outdoor! Vegetarian food only. Beyond meat is used in several dishes. Large portions and reasonable price. Cake is available for dessert.

Had dinner here, you order at the bar and there's menus already at each table. Great selection of vegan food along with a full bar. I ordered obies bowl. The food came out super quick and loved the texture of the tempeh was so good. There's a lot of outdoor seating with shade. It's a great mix of dive bar and Portland vegan eatery.

This bar has my favorite drink- aptly named after the bar, the bye and bye. It's affordable ($10) and in a giant mason jar. They have other high quality drinks for reasonable prices and good service.

My sister recommended this place, and I can say I am happy she did. This casual restaurant has a great evening vibe to it; it feels very informal but special at the same time. Although you order at the bar, there are lots of lights outside that enhance the ambiance. While the menu is somewhat limited, there are several choices that intrigued me. I opted for a bowl in the end with nutritional yeast tofu (much better than it sounds). In fact, it was the best tofu I have tasted! The sauce was not too spicy or sweet, also. My only suggestions are to have an option to substitute brown rice out for quinoa, farro, or salad (or just add more veggies). But otherwise, I would definitely come back. Prices are reasonable, service was good, and everything is plant-based!

I've loved this place for years. Incredible cocktails, mocktails, vegan food, and massive outdoor seating options. One of my favorite bars in the entire city. The food is incredible.

Wow I dig this place! Great vibe, cool art, indoor out door seating, nice staff. Got the Tofu with Nutritional yeast/broccoli bowl with rice and a side of BBQ Tofu and Brussel Sprouts. Everything was really amazing tasting and actually all worked really well together. Perfect for sharing! The bowl was large and delicious, and the sides portions were big too! Probably could have made a couple meals from it but when it's this good you just keep going don't you. Well I do.

This is probably my favorite spots here in Portland area! Lgbt friendly, great music great vibes great drinks.. IF YOU NEVER TRIED THE BROCCOLI TOFU DISH YOU ARE MISSIN OUT Not so much service to the table, however the staff is nice over all.

A group of us came and celebrated a sweet Hanukkah eve here outside with our menorahs, gelt and blessings. The establishment permitted us to do so with advance permission. Everyone had a hot drink. Mine was hot cider. This place is large and intimate because many areas to hang.

I'm surprised I've never reviewed this place. Always good. I love their food, and they have a solid tap list. Their patio is spacious both in the front and in the back. I got the Miso Chile Bowl today which was delightful. I feel like their bowls always have a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Their staff are super friendly and helpful. Definitely one of my go-tos in the neighborhood.

I've been coming to the Bye and Bye for 15 years, and it's still one of my favorite places. Chill atmosphere and totally non-pretentious staff. I used to come here to party in my early 20s, and now I come here with my 5-year-old for dinner or brunch. They are dog- and kid-friendly. The regular food and cocktail menu is tasty with plenty of options, and the weekend brunch menu is great too. They have excellent covered and heated outdoor seating when it's cold, and it's just as lovely as a sunny patio in the summer. Highly recommend paying them a visit.

Ambiance 10/10, food 10/10, mocktails 10/10. Super cute vegan bar with mocktails and indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend if you're in Portland!

Amazing vegan food! I've tried almost everything on their menu and have loved every dish. My personal favorite is the peanut butter broccoli bowl and the pretzel knots as an appetizer. I would also really recommend trying a combination of their watermelon rum with lemonade and mint as a refreshing alcoholic drink! Not to mention It's also nice that they are open much later than most vegan restaurants.

Food is so good! Go tos are meatball sub, garlic knots, and edamame. Anything is delicious though. Service is good. Fun place to hang out

Went to Bye and Bye after seeing an amazing production of A Christmas Carol at near by Portland Playhouse for a drink. Service really sweet, and the 11 Hot toddy with bourbon just hit the spot. We sat at a table on the heated back patio. Didn't eat this time but the past the food has been really interesting and good. I say give it a try!!

This was the best dinner I've had in a LONG TIME. I'm poor and spent all my money on dinner here and was nervous it was gonna be a flop since I've never been here but it was so worth it. Get the BBQ tofu bowl. You will not regret it.

This is the second time at Bye and Bye. Both times they've been so good with me about my food allergies. The food is great! And if you're looking for covered, heated, not enclosed outdoor seating bc you're wary of disease, they got you.

Stopped in for a drink & I am bummed I didn't stay to eat. I saw wonderful dishes coming out. The bartender was very accommodating to my request for a pickle and an olive, it was refreshing to not get hassled.The bloody beer mix was house made & it was prettier amazing!This place is unique and located in a neighborhood.It was clean and they had both outdoor seating in the front and back.

Okay, I'll be honest. When I first walked next to the Bye and Bye I was expecting another generic millennial/college trap of cheap beer and terrible food. Kudos to them the creative mind behind these vegan dishes, and even the staff that have worked tirelessly to give us the covid setup. The owners seem to take pride in what they have to offer the community. My only gripe was a dirty bathroom at the time, I might have just walk into the wrong time but I can't turn a blind eye to that. Maybe I'll catch the place in a good day, and I'll be able to give that upgraded star. Sorry guys.

This place has comfort vegan food that is hard to find! The meatball sandwich was delicious! I needed that! We also had a bowl, which was also delicious. I love having a place that offers vegan food that actually taste good!
