"Byeokje Galbi is a local institution that has been serving legendary barbecued beef short ribs since 1986. The restaurant’s attention to quality begins from the breeding of the cows at a local farm in Pocheon. Only the top 1% (BMS No9) are purchased, whole, at a daily auction, after which they are handled by an artisan butcher. The signature dishes are the beautifully marbled short ribs and ribeye grilled over charcoal. From a simple meal of cold buckwheat noodles and soup to an elaborate barbecue feast, Byeokje Galbi caters to all occasions." - Michelin Inspector

The Best Things to Eat in Seoul, According to Chef Eric Ripert

"Byeokje Galbi is a place in Seoul for Korean barbecue where Grandma is doing the cooking. It can seat maybe 20 people. The experience includes drinking a warm broth, makgeolli, and grilling a lot of offal with banchan on the table."

The Best Barbecue in Seoul: 14 Must-Try Restaurants | Eater

"Best known for marinated galbi, Byeokje Galbi has been a quintessential, high-end Korean barbecue house since 1986. For years, they have sourced the highest-quality hanwoo beef from daily auctions, with the price tag to match. For the top-grade meat, which they label seol-hwa (“snow flower,” a reference to the marbling), the signature diamond-cut galbi starts at 60,000 won ($47) per 100 grams, ranging up to 100,000 won ($80) per 100 grams for their “ultimate” striploin steak. In addition to meat, the restaurant employs masters of naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and gomtang (beef bone soup, milky white from a long simmer) with decades of experience." - Matty Kim

Byeokje Galbi in Bangi truly lives up to its reputation. The galbi was incredibly tender and rich in flavor — every bite felt luxurious. The Pyeongyang-style cold noodles were perfectly clean and refreshing, and every side dish tasted thoughtfully prepared. To top it off, the soft-serve ice cream for dessert was the perfect sweet ending. Elegant yet comfortable atmosphere — an unforgettable dining experience. If you want to experience the finest Korean BBQ in Seoul, this is the place to go.

I asked for the best restaurant for Korean BBQ in Seoul, and several of my colleagues recommended Byeokje Galbi Bangi. To be upfront – I was not disappointed; it was an amazing experience. Yes, it is expensive, but in my view, worth every penny. Upon arrival, I was taken to a small private room on the first floor and immediately greeted by an incredibly kind, competent, and friendly lady who would be my grill master for the evening. I followed her recommendations and had two exclusive "Diamond Cut Ribs," one natural and one marinated. Especially the natural rib was extremely marbled and had an incredibly good beef flavor. The restaurant employs a dedicated buyer who only purchases the top 1% of available beef, and you can taste it. The grilling is done professionally on a super-hot charcoal grill. The side dishes provided, from premium kimchi to various salads and pickles, are all of the highest quality. I briefly considered ordering more but ultimately had to stop. I will definitely return when I'm in Seoul.

The beef was really good. Thinking about the price, they must be good. However, I am not sure whether the service is upto that point. I can understand why they got into Michelin guide, without any star rating.

I went to this restaurant with my dad and my grandmother. I saw the menu and at first I thought the beef was too expensive because the meat was average 80000 won per 100 gram. I ate short ribs, skirt steaks, neck chains, and hanging tender. When I tried the beef I knew that the beef quality was worth the price. This was the best bbq restaurant in my life.

FOOD ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ATMOSPHERE ⭐⭐⭐⭐ STAFF ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ VALUE ⭐⭐⭐⭐ In this restaurant, you are captivated by the waiters’ extreme attention to you and their keenness to please you. As for the appetizers and galby steaks, they are distinctive and one of the best restaurants in which I have eaten this type of food. Grateful for the special touch from the restaurant to serve ice cream after the end of the meal.

If you like beef, this is the right place to be! Super juicy hanu. There are tonnes of barbecue restaurants in Seoul but this one only serves BMS9 Grade Korean Beef. Price is high but you get what you paid for ! Both the Hanwoo tartar and grill rib I ordered are of supreme quality ! 😋😋😋😋😋 definitely will revisit!

Google
Korean BBQ specialty restaurant. Michelin Seoul 2023. High quality beef but I think the price is too expensive considering beef’s quality and side dishes. Especially one of signature menu 160,000 KRW beef rib was too oily and greasy.

It was pretty delicious and they explained the menu to us in English and joked at the fact that we couldn't speak Korean. It was cute
