Yelp
Byrd's is really nice with good customer service.
It's in a neighborhood, which is really cool and adds to the ambiance.
The humidor is decent with something for every cigar aficionado and novice alike.
I selected a cigar that was a first for me and delicious. Other shops/lounges in the area don't carry it, so I'll definitely go back to buy more. I had a mixed cocktail with Bulliet bourbon and pineapple. Really good concoction. The bartender very much seemed to be knowledgeable and skilled.
I had a lovely conversation with one of the owners, Will.
We chatted about their space, other lounges/bars in the metro area, and folk in the retail cigar industry, music, and life.
The space is rather eclectic. It's not like any other lounge in metro D, but it's comfy. I really enjoyed smoking my cigar out front. It served front porch vibes.
There's a member area upstairs, which I didn't ask to see.
I strolled through the public areas, snapped a few captures, asked folk lots of questions, and made some cigar recommendations.
The public smoking lounge is actually inside of a few hodge podge storage containers adjacent to the building. There's a pool table along with a huge television. The seating included a vintage church pew, which I found interesting, and various lounging chairs.
The backyard or patio area continued with the same vibe of various seating options such as picnic tables and old-school egg chairs.
I'm told that Jazz is played on Tuesdays and Thursdays and that regulars phone up their friends for impromptu gatherings most days.
The place opened as a private club, but the 1st floor spaces are now open to the public.
Membership was quoted at 1,500 with a locker. I think 12, without.
Non-members have to meet a $25 minimum (cigar/drink purchases) per visit.
They serve the lamb chop/chicken wing fare.
It's on John R, east of Woodward between HP & New Center.
