The Best Bars In Berlin - Berlin - The Infatuation

"There’s nowhere better to soak up Berlin’s long warm summer days than in a Biergarten. This temporary self-service kiosk sits on a small lake in Tiergarten, the city’s biggest green space, and dishes out steins of helles or weißbier and simple German food to large groups bathing in vitamin D and remembering that nature exists. There’s a sizable area around the water that’s packed with long wooden tables, which families, day-trippers, and tourists sardine onto. Turn up in the late afternoon after doing something cultural (because Berlin life isn’t all about drinking beers), rent a rowboat, and stay until the overhead string lights flick on." - olivia ladanyi

17 Best Bars in Berlin

"Cafe am Neuen See is one of the city's most romantic biergartens, thanks to its lakeside location and dreamy surroundings in the middle of Tiergarten Park—Berlin's answer to New York's Central Park. While it shines brightest in summer, an indoor restaurant also makes for a cozy spot in the winter, with panoramic windows, roaring fireplaces, and plenty of candles. Come here to pass a lazy afternoon with friends." - Krystin Arneson

Absolutely worth a visit while in Berlin! A serene environment, in the middle of the park. The lake was beautiful and the atmosphere was very calming and relaxing. The food options were basic but very tasty and clean. It's great for all the family!

Google
Highly recommended: what a great beer garden in Tiergarten! Such a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and good quality food & drinks 🍽️🥂🍻🍹 We are a family of 6 on summer holidays in Berlin. Thoroughly enjoyed this place with its beautiful setting in the Neuen See. Spend a whole summer evening here: drinks, bites, dinner, playing cards, reading books and enjoyed the vibe!

We visited this venue for our best friend’s wedding. The location itself is truly impressive — set beside a large lake, spacious and airy, with a beautiful view. However, the food was absolutely dreadful. Shockingly overpriced and worse than what you'd get at IKEA. The tomato soup was watery, bland, and served cold. The salad was just a plate of plain greens with a lonely slice of carrot — no dressing, no flavor whatsoever. My husband ordered the steak, which came stone-cold, sitting sadly on the plate with a few beans and four tiny potato wedges. I had the pan-fried salmon, which was also cold and terribly tasteless. Honestly, it was the worst meal I’ve had since moving to Germany. For the price they charge, the quality was unacceptable. We will definitely not be returning.

Google
I went here after a walk for a few drinks and an evening meal and then went back again for breakfast. The view is great, the staff are friendly and attentive and both the main meals and breakfast pancakes were exceptional. If I lived in Berlin id definitely be a regular.

Google
They offer both a restaurant and a beer garden. We opted for the latter - twice: Really nice Bavarian-style beer garden in the middle of Berlin. Good choice of draft beer and food. Grilled chicken and pizza were ok to good. Prices normal for Berlin. Self service but they push for tips anyway.

Google
Great atmosphere, a big biergarten in the middle of the huge forest park. You come here to hang out with friends and have some beer. Wine is not the best, might not feel well after it. Few veggie options.

Google
Roaqted coliflower was overcooked and didn't taste fresh, I took extra fries and the last fries were very mushy. The pizza my partner took was of better quality. It took a very long time for the food to arrive. Staff wasn't very friendly. Lovely view on the lake!

Google
Great place to kick back and relax in the middle of Tiergarten with a beer. The food is all right (we had a pizza), but the true highlights here are the beautiful grounds and the vibes especially on a sunny day in summer.

Yelp
What a cute venue, great vibe and the indoor temperature was spot on. Food was delicious and the home made bread was very tasty. The Apple cake was the best I have ever tasted in my life! I loved the lake and row boats on the lake! I was looking forward to a nice largish hot cappuccino, it was on the small side and luke warm. I had to order a second so it felt like I had gotten my morning fill. I would recommend having different sized cups available. We booked our table whilst still in Australia, about 4 or 5 weeks prior. When we arrived at 9am we were put toward the back of the restaurant, it wasnt busy at this time, and almost felt like we were in the naughty corner. Staff seemed distracted and not very attentive to our needs.

Yelp
Good food, ambiance. Cocktails were too sweet, but beer and wine were good. Nice charcuterie board, fresh bread. Delicious burger. Good croissants. Next time I'll try the pizza.

Yelp
I didn't like this place at all. I was there on a rainy day and it seems like the self-service part was completely shut down, but I figured I'd stick around and maybe grab a drink and a bite while I was there. After clearing the queue, I asked if I could sit at the bar and was waved over dismissively. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes before being acknowledged at all, and asked for a menu. Another 10-15 minutes passed before someone came over and said something like "hey, did you want to order anything?" Like yes I do, I'm not just sitting here for the vibes. I ordered a glass of riesling (which, to be fair, was cheap - I think around €5). Then, more waiting. I think it was probably another 15 mins before I got my glass of wine. I really don't know what the appeal of this place is. Sure, the ambiance is nice and it was very buzzy when I was in there, but the service was just egregious. The food seemed overpriced compared to other spots in Berlin too although I didn't try it myself. They default to speaking English which was admittedly nice for me but should tell you something about the type of place it is.

Yelp
(3.5 stars) I'm pretty surprised by this place's super low rating given how popular it is. Maybe it varies from dish to dish but I really enjoyed the burrata, plus there's so much of it that you really get the taste of it in each bite. The side salad was a quite sparse and simple, wish it was a little more refreshing. But overall a sandwich that's reasonably priced that I'd surely get again.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Berlin. Great seating right next to the lake, the food could be better but it's the ambiance because of which you come here
google avatar

Gregory B.

Yelp
Wow, not sure why so many bad reviews. This place is a total vibe, at least outside in the Biergarten. My only reason for not giving five stars is that seating is limited, despite having almost a couple hundred benches there was very little seating. There were SO many people, on a Thursday afternoon. The salami pizza was great, and very big for the price. The beer tasted good as well!

Yelp
I had one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had in a gastronomic establishment in this restaurant and I do not recommend this place if you plan an event. For my birthday I had personally looked at brunch places days in advance and I really liked the Cafè am See. I made a reservation on the spot for 8-10 people with a professional-looking employee, Silvio or Sandro his name. Agreed was a large table directly at the house, which should protect us from the sun. On Saturday I called again to confirm the appointment. On Sunday, June 06, my birthday, we arrived and were greeted directly by an unfriendly man in a straw hat, obviously an employee, who initially claimed that we had not made a reservation. Since I insisted, Straw Hat began pushing tables together at the right end of the terrace, groaning in annoyance. The reservation list lay open in front of us as we waited, Strohhut making no effort to be discreet - and sure enough, my name was crossed out, replaced with the name Thomas XXX and next to it the note "VIP"! Straw Hat hat fetched us to the table, this stood in the middle of the blazing sun. I asked for sunshades against the heat - there Straw Hat answered that none were there and we could go also gladly again. We took the table. For an hour and a half my guests sat in the midday sun until it disappeared behind the trees. They ordered one water after another, of course. Meanwhile, Straw Hat, who placed us, sat with his own (!) birthday party at the table I had originally reserved! The next hammer came with the bill: 7 bottles of still water for almost 8 euros each were on it. I was under pressure because I wanted to spare my guests the conflict and didn't even think that the restaurant could have provided the water. So I paid the bill of almost 300 euros without complaint. While paying the waiter, I had taken off my mask - Straw Hat passed us at that exact moment and actually said, "If I had known how pretty you are, everything would have gone better here!" and laughed. This happened in June, but only now can I put the experience into words, as it still resonates with me. I have not experienced such absurd, unprofessional and impudent treatment before or since.

Yelp
One of Berlin's most iconic places, on water, at the edge of Tiergarten. Great gathering place for friends or alone for a beer or snack or dinner. Unless it is too crowded on a sunny summer day!

Tucké R.

Yelp
...complete desaster of having to wait for more than 1hr with a toddler. It took half an hr to get water/drinks. Another 30 min to get a menu we didn't order. The service was the most unaware and dizzy people ever met. After more than 1hr with wrong meals we've left with zero discount. Won't go there again. Next time good old Schleusenkrug at the Zoo.

Yelp
This was such a great find! Was recommended on a travel blog I read and I am so glad we went. Great atmosphere and even better food! Overall the perfect way to spend a Friday in Berlin.

Yelp
Wow this place is absolutely fantastic hidden gem; fabulous beer garden nestled right up on the lake behind the zoo. Enjoy shade and cool breezes on a hot day. We enjoyed a beers and plates of weisswurst with sides slaw and kartofel salad. Very tasty. As tourists we would have never found this place on our own, we usually use Yelp to find most places but in this case my wife's old classmate had us meet her here. This place was only listed as Mediterainian food, but there Beer Garden is definitely German; but we have notified Yelp and requested a change for the listing. No parking on site. Look for street parking prior to the Hotel and Spanish Embassy.

Yelp
Actually- pretty good! Super cozy inside feels like you are in a log cabin. We tried the spatzle- really yummy, tastes like Mac n cheese. And the wiener was quite juicy and flavorful. Was hard to get someone to seat us when we first came in- otherwise a nice place in the park to refuel.
google avatar

Brandon H.

Yelp
Awesome spot to grab some beers. Beautifully located in a park, on a nice lake. Ton of space. They have food too but it looks like pretty standard german fare and pretty bad. Beers only here.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Get a reservation if you want to be guaranteed a meal at Cafe am Neuen See. The beer garden is great, but they had already run out of food when we were there for an early dinner on a weekday. We didn't have a reservation, so the beer garden was about all we could try. The See next to the cafe is really nice. They rent row boats if you want to take a trip out. I believe the price was 8 Euros for 30 minutes.
google avatar

Lorie L.

Yelp
The food and service was really good. Nice view of the water from our table. Seems like a very popular place. The pizza's are huge!
google avatar

Tyler L.

Yelp
Café am Neuen See is another great, possibly the greatest beer garden in Berlin. In the middle of the Tiergarten, it really embraces the locale, sitting under the trees right on the water. There aren't many beer gardens where you could theoretically hop on a rowboat, or at least watch other people do so. The space is absolutely massive and there's not only German beer including some local brews, but also great food available too. There's no better place in the city to cool down in the shade with a cool beer on a sunny day.
google avatar

Dennis A.

Yelp
Honestly, this is a great place to hang out, not to have a decent meal. The food is alright (when it's there after 2 hours), but the service is the worst. It's not seldom that you get treated like shit by service employees for no reason in Germany, but here they take it to a whole other level. That muscle fairy waiter seriously gave us an attitude like he's on a catwalk competition contest and we were the rivals. And not in that funny showgirl way, but a very rude I wanna eat your babies way. And I tell you what, my father didn't like it, we didn't book that show. And that just because after 1,5 hours in a not at all crowded restaurant we dared to kindly and pragmatically ask whether the kitchen was too busy and we must wait longer, and it was not a problem for us at all if that was the truth. We at least would have had the option to leave. But the queen said we had to stay in a commanding tone of a concentration camp supervisor (a very disturbing combination, I'm still looking for the right support group for my Russian dad), so we stayed. Since the order had been communicated to the kitchen they would charge us anyway, he explained. We waited for another half an hour and kept calm in order to avoid hearing another heated blame-on-you-evil-customer-monologue. And as a down to earth guy who treats waitresses and waiters respectfully and always with a smile no matter what, I don't have to ever feel that way. This was some odd parallel universe where the waiter played the role of a pissed off for no reason customer and I was the service employee who tried to calm down the situation. We left with no tip and a nice note to the manager in German ;)

Yelp
What a lovely beer garden! In a corner of the Tiergarten, loads of picnic tables on the side of a lake. There are a couple different spots, one that seems to be more casual and one more fancy. We went to the casual one a couple of times. There is a drinks section and a food section. Drinks include several beers and wines as well as soft drinks. Wines by the glass are around 4 euros a glass, which feels very reasonable. We also had pretzels, which were very tasty, and one person had a white sausage as well, which he seemed to enjoy. Didn't get super busy either day we were there despite lovely weather. I love that the crowd is really mixed-- families with young kids running around as well as the hipster crowds some neighbourhoods of Berlin are known for. Clean restrooms as well, which I wasn't expecting for a park cafe!

Yelp
When you're sitting at Café am Neuen See looking out across the see (Lake) it's easy to forget that you're in the centre of Berlin. There's also a different vibe to the place than to your average biergarten in Prenzleur Berg , the clientele is generally a bit older and a lot wealthier. So if you're looking for hip and happening, you're probably in the wrong kietz (district). Prices are a little higher than some places EUR3.70 for a half litre of bier and just under EUR9 for a pizza, but the idyllic setting with the high quality fare makes it worthwhile. There are a couple of large sandpits to keep the kids entertained and if you're feeling more energetic then you can hire a rowing boat to take out on the lake for EUR10 per hour.

Qype User (raud…)

Yelp
Nice view, ok pizzas and flamkuchen (something like a pizza without tomato but lots of onions), very friendly service, nice and cosy fireplace but don't sit too close to it, because it's getting hot in here, way too hot. All in all a nice place to go with friends after a walk in the park, especially now that it is getting cold outside.
google avatar

Robin C.

Yelp
Ambiance gorgeous, food super. Service like any other European service...paced slow but there when we needed him. Perfect evening.
google avatar

Ilkin I.

Yelp
Great place at a great location! Especially during summer, it is really great to sit outside and drink your bier just next to the lake. And maybe after, rent a boat and have a silent lake tour with friends. Restaurant is a little bit price but for special occasions, it's my #1 restaurant to go. You have to try pizzas they make.
google avatar

Jacob A.

Yelp
Walked a hearty walk to get here only to be disappointed. After trying for several minutes to get someone's attention for a table for two, host barked at us to "come back later". A few minutes later a group of 4 walked up, slipped the man a 5€, and was seated immediately. Not a fan.
google avatar

Mohammed G.

Yelp
I am giving this place 4 stars just for the location and the ambiance. Make no mistake, this is one of my favorite places to go out, but it's exactly because the surroundings are nice and that it opens till midnight. However, when it comes to food, drinks, service, there are definitely better places and for better prices too, but hey, you're not here for the food are you?
google avatar

Meadow J.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Terrific food. It was a bit challenging to figure out where to sit to be served. It was also a bit more expensive than many other comparable places we have been. Perhaps it's the neighborhood or location on the river.

Selda Y.

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance , wonderful foods. You should definitely visit here once you have the opportunity.

A B.

Yelp
So this review is not about the food. Cafe am Neuen See is a beergarden which will serve you calories too, but do go elsewhere to eat. It is about enjoying a place at the water, watching the rowers, and having a couple of beers. Spacious atmosphere under the trees. Not only those typical beergarden tables, but also a few relaxed places to hang out close to the boats. The best spot to break up a walk through Tiergarten - I keep coming back.
google avatar

Jakob P.

Yelp
Great view and great location by the see. This is a nice beer Garten that serves a variety of dishes. It's true that it's pricey (4,4€ for the beer) and the service isn't good when it's full. But still, it's a nice place to go on a warm summer day after a bike ride. Cheers!
google avatar

Jackson F.

Yelp
The food was fine but the prices were outrageous. You pay for the atmosphere here. It'd probably be best to eat before and just get a pretzel and beer when you're here, but it's absolutely worth going to. Having a beer by the pond was a great time.
google avatar

Pablo K.

Yelp
OK, so the food is good, but not fantastic which is why it lost a star...with that said, the ambiance could not be better. You are sitting at the edge a gorgeous little lake in the MIDDLE of Berlin's Tiergarten, you have wonderful lighting with candles, if you go for dinner, (which I often did). Its a great way to cap off a long stroll through the Tiergarten (Berlin's central park) You can either sit outside, or indoors with a view to the lake (if you can get a table) ..it can be a bit crowded, so shoot for a weeknight.
google avatar

Suzanne L.

Yelp
I would give this two stars, but the ambience is so lovely it brings it up to three. We ordered two pizzas and some wine. The wine was OK - it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. The pizza was not good - the ingredients on top of the pizza were fresh and good, but the crust was like a giant, flaky cracker. Like thin crust gone wrong. It had no tender chew; it actually felt like you were trying to eat a pizza composed of 4 giant crackers that disintegrated any time you picked them up or bit them. I also did not like the tomato sauce they used - it had a weird, metallic flavor that I found off-putting. If I went again, I would opt to go to the self-service food stands across the way. I'm not sure if it's affiliated with Cafe am Neuen See. The food looked comparable (not sure how the prices compare) and you still get the stunning ambience of the water, the lights strung across tables, and greenery all around.
google avatar

Alistair H.

Yelp
I can understand the Berliner's complaints about the prices, because, for Berlin this place is damned expensive. Coming from Hamburg, it's just averagely priced though, so I'm not going to mark them down for that. It's all very nicely put together... beautiful decking, loads of deck-chairs and picnic tables. When we were there on a Sunday afternoon the place was full of young families with little kids running around everywhere - thankfully there was little screaming. It was quite amusing watching everyone try their hand at rowing. I'd say that more than 50% were terrible and at least 1 in 5 rowed the boat backwards :)
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
The location is great and it's your typical Biergarten by a lake. There are two areas, one with waiter service, and the other cafeteria style. We chose the more casual self serve, but most of the help behind the counters were unbelievably nasty and grumpy. Perhaps they too wanted to relax on this hot summer day. In any case they only get 4 stars for that. Food is good. I'd say a bit above standard. By all means check it out if you're in the area and the weather is good. Just don't expect a quiet moment. It gets thronged with crowds.
google avatar

Ethan L.

Yelp
Often at times when you don't have a lot of choices, you are paying for the view. Luckily though it does have some good qualities. Went in for a lunch and had plated food, as opposed to just some simple pizza or sandwich. The pork cutlet is actually very solid, but a little overdone. It's covered in a great mushroom gravy, some nice grilled vegetables and a sort of bread pudding. As I walked through the restaurant I saw a rotisserie chicken oven, and I rarely order chicken but asked if that was on the menu. It was and I ordered it. As for the roasted chicken, pollo la brassa this is not. Bland, even with a squirt of lemon, but luckily with some flavor as the cavity was stuffed with herbs, garlic and lemon. What was killer though was the really good slaw that was served on the side, it had a fantastic pickled flavor with mixed caraway seeds in it that gave it a very unique taste. It was the highlight. Luckily though the chicken wasn't dried out like a brick. Service is standard European moderately slow, as to be expected. The waiter though was cordial, spoke English and could easily answer any questions. The food though is a bit pricey, but you are paying to also sit by the water in a real nice spot. Disappointingly though the beer selection here is very small, only with one Andesch Vollbier (the highlight), 3 Konig items, and 1 Kindl. I would hardly call this a biergarten, but there is one place outside that serves with benches closer to the water if that's what you want instead. Not amazing, but not terrible either, order strategically and with simpler items and you will probably do fine. But one visit is enough for me, with nothing to ache me to come back. But I wouldn't tell anyone not to ever go there.

Yelp
Berlin has many beer gardens, but this one tops the list. A refreshing walk past the back of the zoo, over a bridge and through some trees opens out to a big area covered in fairy lights with rows of tables overlooking the Neuer See. Dinner will set you back around 10EUR. Grab a pint and fresh leberkäse (a baked loaf of finely ground corned beef, pork and onions) with potato salad, snuggle onto one of the tables don't be shy, and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere with some friends.

Yelp
This is a wonderful beer garden in a corner of the Tiergarten very near the Zoo & Kurfuerstendamm shopping district. I visited a total of 5 times during my recent trip to Berlin, it was that good. I should qualify that my hotel was only a five minute walk. Still this is a really great place to relax, have a beer (or other drinks) and some food if you are in this area of the city. It is actually worthy of being a primary destination and meeting point while in Berlin I first learned about Cafe am Neuen See during my first visit to the city a few years back. The concierge at my hotel made the recommendation when I asked about beer gardens and said this is where Berliners go. Not only do they have a very nice beer garden area around a portion of the lake (Neuer See) that is serve yourself, but also they have a full restaurant with outdoor terrace service. I eat on the terrace on my earlier trip and the service and experience was excellent. In addition to the beer, their food is very good. Beyond the traditional "German" options they make very nice pizzas and salads with many options. I had both this past visit and would recommend anything based on all I sampled. Their pizza seemed very popular based on what I witnessed during each of my visits. I really loved their pretzels, wonderfully soft inside which isn't lost on this Philadelphian. They are freshly cooked and can go fast if the place is crowded. More then once the basked was empty when I returned for a refilled. They serve beer from the Lowenbrau brewery in Munich as well as some wine and soft drink options. This is in the self serve pavilion as I am sure the restaurant has a few more options for both food and drink. The setting near the park is wonderful and this garden would be popular in any city in Germany, even Munich! I didn't try it but there were row boats on the one side if you wished to experience the lake first hand. They also had a large TV set up (special events) at the one end of the beer garden for World Cup viewing. There was a very good crowd for the 2014 kick-off from Brazil one of the nights I visited. I can only imagine the large crowds if Germany were playing? If it is a nice day and you are looking to relax, I really can't think of a better location. I will definitely make it a point to visit again the next time I am in Berlin. Prost!

Yelp
The atmosphere during the summer is all pretty :) Close to a lake, on ale-benches, chain of lights, wonderful. I went there on a few dates as well as business meetings. Wintertime does not leave its guests in the dark either: a chimney fire, wooden, rustic furniture and candle light. The food quality is ok only. The REAL disaster is the service though. I am not particularly pointing fingers, but as a customer you surely get the sentiment that management does not treat its employees right. Everyone is stressed and unfriendly. Cafe am Neuen See is one of these places you see, stare, walk in and slowly but surely realize its location is not worth your time and the food does not live up to its promise. Sad truth.

Yelp
This is one of those places that I love and hate. Right by a lake, surrounded by trees and very close to the Siegessäule, the location really is fabulous. And that's why I gave it one star, because as far as I am concerned, this is the only positive point to be made. The missing stars come from a combination of factors: rip-off prices over-crowded, it's hard to find seats and there are queues for drinks and food poor service, these guys are simply not trained and there is a staff shortage there really isn't that much choice here, mostly just Weisswürstchen, Leberkäse, Pizza and some cake and drinks. My recommendation to the owner(s): Train or replace your management, this place has the potential to be amazing.

Yelp
Incredible terrace with a lovely pond and hanging lights. Perfect for a romantic dinner or birthday celebration. The pizza was delicious and not terribly expensive.

Yelp
Cafeteria style catastrophe Do no go here. Don't risk your health or your German food experience. I have not ever been so dissatisfied with a meal. I have a very upset stomach after eating here. I got a "German bratwurst" that in my home country would not pass for school cafeteria food. I in addition, watched a change of shifts on the dishwashing station. The new worker did not sanitize himself before cleaning hundreds of plates. This bad experience however did not end here. Thinking that serving myself in this cafeteria would make it easier for the servers instead made my wife and I unable to sit inside the mostly empty interior of the café. We sat down but quickly were forced outside. We moved back into the rain next to one of the umbrellas they had. When we tried to set one up we were informed that it was for only the sun. To say the least we are soaked. Never left a bad review but these people really deserve it.

Yelp
Highly recommend!! Great lake-side ambience, Napolitano style pizza and German beer. Great way the experience the tiergarden.

Yelp
Beautiful setting in Tiergarten overlooking a small lake. Offers both serviced (with tablecloths) and non-serviced tables. The beer list was brief, but decent. The food specialty appeared to be Neapolitan-style pizza, which was mediocre. I'd recommend the place primarily for enjoying a few beers in the beautiful location.

Yelp
Location. Location. Location. Went to Cafe am Neuen See on a misty/rainy afternoon. Would have loved to have eaten outside, but it was simply too wet. I imagine this is the heart of this place's appeal. The view and ambiance would have been spectacular on a nicer day. The food was pretty good. My friend and I each ordered a pizza. While it's hard to screw up pizza, some places are able to do it. We really enjoyed our food and liked the ambiance inside as well. I would say that this is a necessary stop for anyone staying in Berlin for a few days.

Yelp
I went 2 times and both times the service was terrible. The servers have no idea what they are doing. So disorganized, it's a shame since the location is ideal. The owner needs to hire a professional staff, not his children with no service experience. I really wanted to love this place since it's in a perfect setting, but the long wait to get a menu, even order food and drinks was just outrageous. Time for new management. This review is for the restaurant, not the self serve bier garden. This place is a joke.

Yelp
The location of the Biergarten is very nice. The food you get in the Biergarten is a catastrophy! Its overpriced bad quality is a no go. The Pizza was dry and hardly edible. The beer glasses were really dirty. You could tell no one could be bothered to clean them properly. The staff is more concerned with their smart phones rather than paying attention to customers need. Actually they can't be bothered at all to give you the feeling of a welcomed customer.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere, laughably expensive drinks. Came here and left because we didn't want to spend 5€ on a beer.

Yelp
One of my favorite biergartens to take visitors to. Because of the garten part, a lot of people who have never been to one expect it to be in a picturesque, outdoor setting. As Mark points out, most, in reality, aren't. At least the popular ones in the city itself. But am Neuen See really is very pleasant, nestled in a corner of the Tiergarten. We ate indoors in the greenhouse like restaurant and enjoyed it. Also one of the few (only?) places actually in the Tiergarten where you can replenishI believe?
