I am SO so glad I was given $100 credit during my stay at the Alma because I would've been VERY disappointed and upset if I paid for this "food" with my own money.
The Cafe offers seating once you walk past the lobby bar. Only problem is that they don't have service there, so you order through the bartender and they bring it to you. If you need anything, you need to get up and go to the bar.
Let me say this: I am a non-confrontational person, but the food here is so offensively awful that even I would've said something.
The fact that someone would make this "pizza," put it in a box and send it off is so crazy. We all know what pizza should look/taste like. This was literally a thick, round piece of dense bread with pizza sauce and cheese slapped on top of it. You're telling me you thought this was absolutely appropriate to give? On top of that, it was cold.
The steak frites was cooked perfectly medium rare, but again, it was cold. And it had been sitting for awhile because the texture of the meat on the bottom turned to mush from sitting in its own juices. The grilled squash was probably the best thing about this dish.
The brisket burger was decent, but COLD. The bottom bun was mushy because it had been sitting.
The rigatoni was the "best" thing we ordered. A pinch of salt and it would've been actually pretty good. Wish I ordered $100 worth of rigatoni.
I ordered through the bar for take-out and I immediately went downstairs to get my food once they called me, so it's not like I was sitting around after the phone call. My guess is that since the kitchen is upstairs, the bartender forgot about it for a bit and so it sat in the window waiting to get picked up.
Anyway, wife and I didn't bother complaining since it was literally free. But wow, please do something about that god awful excuse for "pizza." I'm not Italian, but you know how passionate Italians can get about their cuisine. I am absolutely fuming on their behalf.
