The 20 Best Restaurants In San Juan, Puerto Rico - San Juan - The Infatuation

"Cafe Caleta is a cafe and wine bar that excels in the all-day meal and casual-sip-and-snack department. Think of it like the restaurant equivalent of three-in-one body wash—just as great for brunch as it is for a glass of orange wine and a kale salad with heaps of parmesan. The menu of predominantly sharing plates changes often, but you can expect citrically gifted crudo, mallorca sandwiches, or an egg-on-toast situation, and a concise selection of natural wines. Aside from a few counter stools across from the kitchen, most seats are outside on the gravity-defying picnic tables along the sloped street. It’s perfect for watching the sunburnt tourists and stray cats of Old San Juan stroll by. Tables outside fill up during every meal, so come at an odd hour (say 4pm)—they don’t take reservations." - adriana silva, tiffany yannetta, mariana trabanino

Food Rundown The menu changes often, but here’s what to expect. Jerk Chicken An all-around exemplary sandwich. Every nook and cranny of the baguette loaf is loaded with juicy chicken chunks. You get a hint of sweetness from the bits of fried plantain scattered beneath the papaya slaw like Easter eggs. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Mallorca This sandwich never leaves the menu. The mallorca has a flaky, croissant-like consistency and comes with boiled eggs, ham, and cheese. It’s perfectly fine, but we’ve had better, like the one at Cafetería Mallorca. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Triple Kale Salad Every kale salad should aspire to be topped with this much grated parmesan. Candied almonds and cashews add a wonderfully sweet crunch. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Challah French Toast Thanks to the mound of dulce de leche plopped on top, it’s best to treat this as dessert after a long, lazy breakfast of avocado toasts and sandwiches. The passion fruit compote cuts through the sweetness of the dulce de leche. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino" - Mariana Trabanino

The 26 Best Restaurants in San Juan, Puerto Rico | Eater

"This charming spot in Old San Juan is a cafe by day and bar by night. Spearheaded by chef Martin Louzao, the menu changes constantly, driven by what’s in season. While the food is memorable on its own, every detail has been thought out, from the beautiful amber glassware to the unique tiles made from coffee beans. Located on a charming, tree-lined street adjacent to the Catedral de San Juan Bautista and Hotel el Convento, Caleta Cafe’s dreamy location is the perfect backdrop for sipping on a glass of wine as the evening comes on." - Paulina Salach Antonetti

Nice sidewalk cafe near El Morro in San Juan. They have a great wine list and interesting Vermouth choices. I tried the Spanish Verdu (second in list on attached photo). Served with a slice of orange and one olive balanced in an icecube. It was a wonderful starter and went great with the setting. I feel like I'm in a Spanish town with American tourists. Next I tried the Rose sold by the glass. Tres Navios, Blanco del Corneta 2021. I paired it with the daily Credo (cheviche) and it worked perfectly. The wine enhanced the local fish and slightly spicey flavors of the dish. The only thing missing was a crust of bread to soak up the last bit. I recommend stopping here before or after the fort for some great refreshment.

We enjoyed our experience here, despite this part of the town experiencing some issues with the water ( low/poor water pressure). The staff was very nice, attentive and made sure to we were okay. The menu is simple but with excellent options and something for everyone. Overall I recommend coming here eating a nice breakfast and enjoying a drink and enjoying the scenery.

This place is nice! It has a good location. The most interesting thing was the food. We thought we were going to find Spanish food, but it turned out to be Argentinian. The food is good if you want to stop and grab a bite to eat and then continue with your plans.

This place is always busy especially on nice days. The food was fantastic, which the reviews were hit or miss. Their presentation was beautiful and the overall flavor of everything we tried was spot on. Their presentation only knock was how crowded this place was but it’s completely understandable as it’s really good and popular.

It was listed as one of the best restaurants in Puerto Rico, so I walked a country mile to get there. Small and quaint. I sat outside. Marco was my waiter and he was very nice. I got the beef empanadas and Kale salad. Both were good. I also got a grapefruit spritzer with mezcal to drink. The atmosphere is serene as there are the trees and beautiful buildings. I wouldn't say it's the best, but I'm sure It's a local favorite.

One of our best meals in San Juan! This restaurant comes highly rated and reviewed, and lives up to the hype. It is an excellent spot for lunch while exploring old San Juan. The kale salad was fantastic. We also really enjoyed the church chicken sandwich. The service was friendly and fast. Good options for drinks as well. You will not be disappointed!

This was a perfect little spot to have breakfast. I got the yogurt bowl and Latte and my husband got the Japanese Omelet. Everything was amazing including the service.

The best French toast I’ve ever had! Super cozy and historic pieces used as decor. Highly recommend!
