Café Crème - Review - Downtown Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Café Crème is a welcome addition to Downtown Austin’s breakfast and lunch scene. The most charming thing about it is that it’s attached to the big, beautiful main branch of the Austin Public Library, so you can eat a lox bagel or a crêpe madame downstairs and then head up to the land of books. The French-leaning menu, with a sprinkling of salads and breakfast tacos, is satisfying but nothing special. You’re mostly here for a sunny, affordable walk-in meal in a central location. And maybe a good cup of coffee—go for the crème brûlée latte or Mexican mocha if you don’t mind something a little sweet." - Matthew Jacobs

Café Crème - Review - Downtown Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Café Crème has been operating in Austin since 2014, first in East Riverside, and now at the Austin Public Library. The menu features a handful of light French-Vietnamese bites, including crêpes, croissants, and some very cute lattes. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Nicolai McCrary

We stopped by Cafe Crème’s new location attached to the Downtown Main Public Library after a walk around Town Lake on a cool Sunday morning. It was the perfect follow-up. We ordered a cappuccino, a matcha tea, a Nutella strawberry crepe, and a crepe madame. Everything tasted great and was just as good as their Oltorf location. The crepes were fresh and satisfying, and both drinks were really well made. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the location makes it such an easy, relaxing stop downtown. It’s a great place to refuel after a walk or to settle in for a bit. Really happy to have Cafe Crème in this spot when working from the library or simply chilling out on a weekend morning.

Excellent bagel and lox! The bagel was one of the best bagels I have had in a long time and the lox / onions/ capers and tomato were all perfectly proportioned. Service was fantastic as well- everyone was very happy, pleasant and friendly. Sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. I am glad this is here- didn't know about it- great addition.

Visiting Austin, this place puts my home city to shame! Cosy vibes, great WiFi for working and good coffee. Crepes were tasty but I was sad the crepe wasn’t fresh given the price - it’s just reheated with toppings. Coffee was great though. Comfortable seating, child friendly and quiet enough to get work done too.

It was my first time having a savory crepe and it was good. I also enjoyed their crème iced coffee. The cafe has plants and comfortable lighting which makes it feel lively and aesthetically pleasing. The music they played was soft and didn't disturb my work, granted that I wore a headphone. The outside sits are comfortable and it's right next to the Austin Library. overall, I had a wonderful experience. Thank you! ✨

We were looking for a new coffee place as we were visiting Austin for the week and like to try different restaurants. The clean, comfy look of Cafe Crème drew us in. Unfortunately the lack of staff, lukewarm coffee and seriously stale almond croissant will keep us from going back. I ordered my usual, drip coffee with oat milk. I also ordered an almond croissant because it looked great. We were handed a number flag for a to go order and told someone would bring the croissant out to us. 5 mins later we get a call and my BF grabs the two coffees, still no croissant. We wait another 5 mins then I go to the front where the counter clerk, who is working solo apologies and asks the young kid who is just wandering around if there is an order for a croissant. He nonchalantly says yes. Bags it up without and hurry or apology and hands it to me. While the place is lovely, except for the young lady working alone trying to cover the entire front, I would say the lax attitude gives question to managements lack of concern for staff and QM. Not on my list of places to revisit which is unfortunate as the location is great with it being downtown amongst the art and beautiful buildings.

Super sweet owners and kind staff. Lovely interior and huge gathering space outside on the patio! The crepes were so YUMMY and my iced latte was delicious served in a cute mason jar. I loved all the options they had to offer and will definitely be back!! Perfect location to step right onto the trail to run or walk and parking was easy you can even get an hour free in the garage.

I love the vibe at Café Crème. I tried the Fall salad and the Café Crème Brûlée, and both were great. The happy hour cocktail was strong. The wifi is fast, there are plenty of outlets, and the music is pleasant. It has the perfect balance, lively enough to feel social but quiet enough to focus. Great spot for both hanging out and getting work done.

Google
We had such a refreshing experience at Café Crème! The drinks were spot on—the Matcha Green Tea Latte was smooth and earthy, and the kids loved the taro boba tea—creamy with just the right touch of sweetness. We enjoyed the breakfast tacos and the Tuscany crepe was a standout—crispy on the outside, warm and flavorful inside, paired perfectly with a fresh side salad. The atmosphere felt cozy and bright, making it the perfect spot to slow down and savor a meal. Definitely a place worth coming back to!

Yelp
I saw this place last time I was at the Austin Public Library. I luckily had an opportunity to grab breakfast here while on my way to an event hosted by a clothing brand across the river at Butler Pitch & Putt. I originally wanted Desnudo but the line was too long when I walked by, and this was an easy route change from where I first started walking from. There was no line and I ordered very soon after arriving. They have plenty signage and enough menus to go around for everyone! I got an oatmilk PSL and lox sandwich on bagel (you can get it on croissant too since this is a French inspired cafe). The PSL was lovely, and the lox sandwich lasted for my whole walk from Cesar Chavez across the Pflugerville pedestrian bridge with limited cream cheese melt. The lox bagel sandwich has beat the other bagel shops I've tried here, although I technically haven't ordered the exact same thing at the others. But I can tell that it's on a different, more "NY" level. Kudos to the owners & what a great location by the library!

Yelp
Absolutely fell in love with this cafe. I was meeting some colleagues for a library visit when I noticed the library didn't open until 9am. Then I noticed the attached cafe was open! I walked in from the street and was transported to the cutest, cozy, chill cafe. The menu was extensive with delicious breakfast and lunch items! The drink menu had everything! And the ambiance was so inviting! There is plenty of seating and the staff was very nice and accommodating. I ended up ordering the Mexican latte and it did not disappoint! I don't have a picture because my colleagues showed up. Highly recommend!

Yelp
MUST GO! Had a premade breakfast taco not expecting much, it was amazing! The homemade salsa is on point, green is . Had the Tuscany (savory) crepe w/ grilled chicken, tomato, spinach, onion, pesto and mozzarella- Amazing! The side salad is so yummy! Could eat just that! Hubby had the Nottingham (sweet) crepe with was strawberry, sweet cream w/ slivered almonds. It was great - not too sweet which I liked. The ambiance and decor was very inviting and the presence of the owners was felt! Service was exactly what it should be! I'd post pics (because presentation was beautiful) but we ate it too fast!

Yelp
Oh no... I felt this place might have promise. Lox crepe was waaaay overpowered by honey mustard drench!! Service was fast, friendly. Crepe itself was perfect, so I picked off the "ick" and enjoyed the delicious delicate crepe. The lox literally died in that horrible honey mustard!! 'Might try the crepe madame next time, tho' after today, probably not!!

Yelp
Café Crème has finally arrived at the downtown library!! This place is sweet. Interior feels brand new, cool decor, plenty of indoor / outdoor seating and a bunch of board games. Great breakfast or lunch spot with items like Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Crepes, breakfast tacos & bagel sandwiches. Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
Cute new spot at the library in downtown. The prices are on par with what other crepe and coffee shops around Austin are offering. The space is welcoming and well lit with plenty of seating. It's not the best coffee, but not the worst. Their lattes definitely have an artificial taste to it and their crepes are fine, nothing noteworthy.

Yelp
Spacious Cafe in the Austin Public Library offering beautiful views of the city, comfortable ambience, and delicious drink/food options including inventive crepes. Perfect spot for doing work, meeting with friends, or reading a good book from the library.

Yelp
The staff is was very nice, wasn't busy, we got the matcha iced and mocha iced. Nothing fancy and it was GREAT! The ambiance was calm and comfortable! Right around the corner from some shopping and good break to cool off or get some work done!

Yelp
Cafe Creme coffee shop had delicious boba tea. On weekend, this is the ONLY place in downtown Austin with boba. Large outdoor patio overlooking shoal creek and the wonderful bridge on 2d st. Cafe is on 2d St. In Austin Library building. Yummy coffee drinks and croissants. Cute decor and laid back.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe! The crepes and coffee were delicious. It's huge with plenty of seating options. The vibe is cozy and charming while also bright and airy, with thoughtful decor. Great service. Love that it's attached to the library! It was the perfect stop before a story time with our toddler. We'll be back!
