The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week: November 3 | Eater LA

"When I want both Mexican and breakfast, this is a go-to with locations in Monrovia and Burbank and an expansive menu of chilaquiles, breakfast burritos, enchiladas, and menudo on Saturdays and Sundays. I typically come for the Mexican breakfast — specifically huevos divorciados smothered in both tangy salsa verde and tingly salsa roja — but the concha French toast surprised me: the concha is sliced and soaked in a milky custard before being griddled so it eats like a buttery, warm tres leches, topped with sliced strawberries and bananas and finished with a condensed milk drizzle. Although it’s served with maple syrup, I don’t think it needs it; the concha arrives at the right level of sweetness." - Eater Staff

We came back to this place for a second time. The food is great. This time I decided to try the plate with two fried tamales and chilaquiles. For the tamales you can pick de puerco “pork” or de elote “corn.” Both were good. I asked for a cafe de la olla late. Iced is $8 and hot is $6 which I personally think is overpriced. If you ask for regular cafe de la olla it’s free refill. Maybe I’ll stick to that next time. Overall it was a great experience. Will come again even though the prices are almost to the edge of being overpriced but nowadays not sure it’s the economy or this place has been like this.

My first visit experience was not a good one, so I decided to come back and revisit in the hope that my experience was a better one. Unfortunately, my second visit was worse than the first time. I took my mom and her dear friend of many years. After being seated, we asked for coffee and waited for more than 10 minutes. I told the hostess that we were still waiting on coffee and nothing. The coffee eventually came. Our server was not the best nor bright. I had to catch the server's attention several times. I don't expect vip service, but do expect the basics in service, 10-5 arrival, greet your table in less than 2 minutes, check your table every 10-15 min. None of these things were executed. I noticed a lack of management, service, and food. My experience was not positive. Hopefully, yours will be a better and not bitter experience.

Google
First time here and I would definitely come back! Kirby and Jacob our server was very helpful in making positive recommendations. Loved the Cafe Olla coffee. Very yummy, only added half and half. Service was excellent, great atmosphere. It got more crowded as we were there. The only thing a bit off was our meals did not come out at the same time and mine was not very hot. I attribute that to them being busy. The flavor was delicious! Come early if you don’t like to wait. Popular place.

Met up with a friend here for breakfast to catch up, and I can see why Cafe Ole is such a local favorite! The place has a warm, friendly vibe, and the staff greet you with genuine smiles — a great way to start the day. The menu leans toward American-Mexican breakfast dishes, and everything looked so good it was hard to choose. I went with the All-in-One Burrito, while my wife ordered the Omelette Beef Fajitas. Both were packed with flavor — hearty, authentic, and freshly made. You can really taste the care that goes into each dish. Parking is street-side since it’s in Old Town Monrovia, but it’s worth the stroll. Definitely a great spot for breakfast or brunch and catching up with friends. We’ll be back!

Google
You can def taste the difference and quality, very authentic Mexican food in the heart of Monrovia. Service was a hit or miss, usually slow but worth the wait! I personally loved their pozole and fried pork belly the most, so good

Google
I've been 4 times and the food, service, and environment have been consistently above board. The chilaquiles poblanos are my favorite. The Cafe de olla is authentic and super sweet. The assorted pastries are dry, but they're meant for pairing with a hot beverage. The wait is long; use Google Maps reservation feature.

I went to the Monrovia location on a Monday night around 530pm. It was almost empty and service was fast. The waiter was nice and checked on us several times. You can order any meal from any menu at any time of the day...Wooohoo!!! For parking, there's public parking in front of the Monrovia police station. It's about a block from Cafe De Olla. The café de olla hot coffee and the iced coffee are AMAZING!!! (No refills). Definetely coming back for more. The menu prices on the actual paper menu were different from the website so just double check. There's hand sanitizer at every time. That's good! The place looks clean. Music was nice. Oldies but goodies. My menu pages were sticky so maybe just clean the menues once in a while. Other than that, the place is excellent and the food is very good!!!

Google
Oh my gosh! This place left a great impression on me! I did not know what to expect but I left so HAPPY!!!! The food was DELICIOUS 😋!!! I would give them 10 stars if I could! We went for Breakfast and it was so good! The people were so pleasant and very attentive to us. You can tell the food is good because the tables were always filled with customers. The pastries were also DELICIOUS! I highly recommend this place to Everyone!!!!! There is inside and outside seating. It was cozy and welcoming. The prices are reasonable as well. I would recommend to take the family or take your date for breakfast or Lunch!!! I'm definitely going back!

Yelp
Perfect place to come in for a cozy breakfast. Their hot chocolate is delicious and kid friendly temperature. I ordered chilaquiles divorciados with a side of carne asada. Delicious but I do think I'll be ordering just green chilaquiles with a side of carne asada. Green chilaquiles are . Love how they have staff coming around the tables to offer you their sweet pastries to enjoy with your coffee or hot chocolate while you wait for your food. Definitely come try!

Yelp
Sunday brunch with the family! It was really convenient that they offered the option to join the waitlist through Yelp -- we didn't have to rush to the restaurant and were able to stroll around downtown while waiting for our table. Inside, it was moderately loud, and the bench cushions were worn out, which made sitting a bit uncomfortable (especially since I was wearing a skirt). The service was okay overall; they took quite a while to take our order, though it did improve after we experienced an issue. I tried the pie de guayaba, tres leches, chilaquiles, refried beans, tortillas, and torta de pierna. The desserts were delicious! The pie was perfectly balanced -- just the right amount of tartness, sweetness, and a great crust. My favorite dish was probably the chilaquiles; they were perfectly crispy, and all three salsas were delicious! I just wish they had a bit more garnish (like cheese and onions). The torta de pierna was okay -- the meat itself was flavorful, but the rest of the toppings were pretty average. Unfortunately, my sister also ordered a torta de pierna and found a small piece of glass in her sandwich. The staff handled it professionally, they comped the torta and offered a free dessert, but it was still a serious safety concern and made us a bit uneasy about the kitchen's quality control.

Yelp
This was my first visit here and I came with high expectations but I left disappointed. Took my entire fam for breakfast, the two host at the front of the restaurant greeted us as soon as we walked in. They were both lovely, polite, and friendly and we were seated right away. Our waitress was not so friendly. Her table manners were cold and quite frankly she made our first experience at this popular, highly yelped restaurant not so great. After taking our drink orders, I asked for flavored creamer on the side for my cafe de olla..she responded with, "You know, this is a very sweet coffee, it already has sugar in it. Do you still want flavored creamer!?" Her tone was not pleasant. I responded with a, " Yes, please a couple flavored creamers on the side. Thank you". We were a party of five, I had the less complicated order: the Berry Waffle. Unfortunately, M y order was "overlooked". I felt bad for my family who all had their plates in-front of them and they insisted on waiting to eat until I received my order, unfortunately- they ate cold food while I had a hot waffle served 10+ minutes after them. My waffle was just okay. It had a light crunch to it. The blueberries and strawberries were fresh and that is what made the flavor on this plate. For the price, I expected more, It's a small waffle with a cup of mixed berries. The cafe de olla was good. However, it probably would have been amazing had I been able to taste it with a bit of flavored creamer, the way I, the customer, enjoys it. The quality of table service from this particular waitress was an epic fail all around. She had a bad attitude. She never even apologized for not placing my order and she didn't check in on our table periodically. Not at all what I expected. Esthetically, it's a nice restaurant in a nice location. Would I go back? Most likely not.

Yelp
One of the popular spots in Monrovia to grab a bite to eat. There is usually a wait if you show up on any day. My experience the wait hasn't been that bad. I've come for breakfast and I've had no complaints. I would suggest to order a cafe de olla. Man I had like 3 cups last time I visited, and I'm not a coffee person. Lol. If you want some pan dulce there is a cart rolling around where you can pick from. The chilaquiles seem to be one of the popular plates here. Dining area inside will accommodate large parties or small. There is some patio dining as well. Great service and food when in the Old Town Monrovia area.

Yelp
AMAZINGGGGG CHILAQUILES!!! Their namesake, the (hot) cafe de olla, is also amazing so definitely come for these !!!! I ordered the Del Norte combination ($21.25) which comes with beef fajitas, beans, eggs, and chilaquiles. 10/10 amazing would order again. The steak is tender, the beans are smooth and savory, you get your choice of egg (I did over easy) and the chilaquiles with that green salsa is phenomenal and I cleared my whole plate. The cafe de olla (hot) is AMAZINGGGG and comes with REFILLS!!! It's spiced and sugared, so don't be scared if you see that it's "black coffee" because it is so perfectly sweet and drinkable!!! I wouldn't add milk, there's no need to. The iced version actually has milk in it (and not allowed refills) but it's too watery and milky. The spices don't shine. The hot is a much, much better version. We also got the beef tostadas (19.50) which came with shredded beef, lettuce, beans and all the fixings. It was a good tostada, nice and with good crunch, but I wouldn't say it's anything too special. I wouldn't order it again. We also got the concha French toast ($19.25) but this was so incredibly sweet that it was so hard to finish. We didn't use any of the extra syrup at all. The concha was kind of dense and needed the cafe de olla to help wash it down, but at that point it was sugar on sugar. If you have a sweet tooth it would be perfect for you though! It's also nice how the French toast comes with a decent number of sides (2 eggs, choice of meat, choice of potatoes) so there's some savory for balance. There was a 1 hour wait (even with the Yelp waitlist) as it was a busy Saturday. Service was kind of slow as we were seated for about 15 minutes before we could flag someone down to please help take our order. They do refill coffee and water upon request though! Once you order the food comes out pretty quickly. Parking is easy given the many lots and street parking in the residential area is also available.

Yelp
Great table service. It's seems like one guy does it all. I had to get his attention a couple of times but he looked pretty busy. Food was sooo good. Definitely worth coming back for. I had a vegetarian breakfast burrito for dinner. Yum! Saved 1/2 of it for the next day. My hubby also had breakfast burrito, my dad had enchiladas with molé sauce. They said they enjoyed their food also. Street parking only. Good luck with that.

Yelp
Donuts and coffee... oh no, prepare to have your life changed. You haven't lived until you have had pan Dulce and cafe de olla. Now that fall is here, it's the perfect reason to come here and see for yourself why this place is so popular. The staff is friendly and I will say that this place gets packed quickly. Add yourself to the waitlist on Yelp, trust me as the wait can sometimes get up to two hours. Definitely not a problem as there's plenty of shops nearby to pass the time. If you don't feel like waiting they have a to go counter with coffees, pastries, and I believe menu items as well. Now what to order. Definitely start with a cafe de olla and a pan dulce. There is also a cart that comes by with all the options. I personally prefer the concha's as they are a timeless classic option. While I have heard rave reviews about the chilaquiles, I personally am a breakfast burrito kinda gal. Many reviews will say the breakfast burrito can taste bland. If you order it the way it comes then yes, but the trick is to add beans (yes it's an additional charge). Trust me on this. It will take the breakfast burrito to a whole other level of flavor. For reference I have tried the all in one breakfast burrito. Definitely prefer it with beans than without. By this point you should find yourself stuffed, but if you manage to have some room might I suggest some delicious desserts. As you are reading this you may find yourself having the will power to say no to dessert. Until the dessert cart comes by and everything looks delicious and irresistible. You may give in to temptation at this point or go about your life regretting not getting dessert and wondering what you are missing out. Luckily, there's always next time and an excuse to come back again! Definitely will be back soon. Until next time!

Yelp
Another visit for the books, delicious birria, enchilada was amazing! We really loved how the cheese inside was grilled, it has a nice salty cheese crunch inside. The fideo was topped with grilled chicken with a side of toast-it very delicious and was taste approved by my toddler. We always love to come here for the bottomless hot cafe de Olla.
google avatar

Stacy L.

Yelp
The pozole was absolutely delicious, packed with flavor and spices, and the portion size was fantastic with good portion of the meat. We also ordered the chilaquiles, and the rice on the side was incredibly tasty. The chips had the perfect crunch, not soggy at all, which made the dish even better. The service was great, even though it was extremely busy, so I definitely recommend checking in on Yelp first. The front of the place is a bakery, and inside you'll find more tables and seating. I'll definitely be coming back again, highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
I tried the one in Burbank and I liked it a lot. This location is even better because the neighborhood is nicer and the ambiance is nicer. Also this location is bigger and it seemed like the menu had more choices. A short wait while we looked through the menu. I wanted breakfast food so I ordered the chilaquiles omelette which included a choice of bread. The chilaquiles didn't get soggy which I was happy about. LOVE the free refills on the hot coffee which doesn't need any sugar or cream! I wish I drank more!! Pastry was excellent. Reminded me of my childhood when my dad used to buy these pastries at the Mexican bakery in LA. Free parking in several different lots.

Yelp
Now here's a place where I can partake of excellent Mexican food and a blend of American-Mexican for the younger generation. I like this place that I had to go back again. The servers are pleasant and courteous. The place is comfortable for going with family or on a date.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my go to spots for brunch. There will always be a wait on a weekend. It's probably because their food is great! My favorite dish is the del norte. It comes with half a chilliques and a skirt steak. The drinks are also nice. Their desserts always look delicious but I never tried it. They have cute dessert display cases and they sometimes pass by with a cart with their desserts so you don't even have to go to the front to order it. Extra Info: - this is located in old town Monrovia - Parking is free in their lot. Might be tough to find parking during peak hours. - Once you write your name down for the long wait, you can walk around old town which is super nice! - Their menu is HUGE Price point $ - Under $15 $$ - $15-30 Final Score: 4.5 out of 5 stars. I'll always return.

Yelp
The food, the service and the ambiance were on point! Highly recommend to everyone that enjoys great tasting Mexican cuisine!

Yelp
The wait is long on most days but totally worth it. Cafe de olla is a must!!! Service is great... love the birthday celebrations they do. Food is delicious and portions are amazing

Yelp
The service was really good very welcoming right when we walked in, we sat down and we got served right away it was y husbands birthday we both enjoyed a cafe de olla and it's free refills it was very good, I had enchiladas de mole I liked them they were okay not how I expected, my husbands plate on the other hand was awesome chilaquiles divorciados good flavor, I feel like for the price everything was a little expensive for mediocre food, it was more for the ambiance, the pan cart did come around and we got one strawberry pan it was soft very good, overall i guess I would come back for that cafe de olla!
google avatar

Deanna R.

Yelp
LOVED!!! I got an Iced Mazapan Latte and Chilaquiles Divorciados. The latte was solid, but the chilaquiles were incredible! The poblanos (green sauce) were my favorite, and I'd probably order those only next time because they were just that good. The machaca was also delicious! It's somewhat of a small space with limited seating, so I highly recommend joining the Yelp waitlist before you get there! Right after we were seated, they asked if they could move us to a larger table instead to accommodate a larger party and offered free drinks for the inconvenience. They definitely didn't have to and we didn't mind moving at all, but we really appreciated the gesture! Overall, great first experience, and I will definitely return! Highly recommend :)

Yelp
YUMMY! I have been wanting to try this chilaquiles spot for a while now. Finally got the chance to! We got there early around 8AM on a Friday and the power happened to be out so no one was there. We waited five minutes and the power came back, thank goodness! We were seated and took our time looking at the menu. I ordered the Chilaquiles Divorciados with suizos and poblano sauce. I couldn't decide one one so I'm happy there was an option to try both. They were so delicious! After trying both, still can't decide on one that I like more than the other. They chilaquiles was very creamy with crisp chips. And the rice and beans added a nice side to it all. I got my eggs overeasy so it was a nice creaminess on top of the chips as well. I will say the suizo sauce had a little quick. Cleared out the sinuses. Of course I also ordered the Cafe De Olla. It was nice and warm for an unexpected rainy California day. It had the perfect amount of cinnamon taste with the bitter coffee. And the best part - free refills! The service was great! Quickly taking our order and refilling our waters and coffee. My favorite part was that they didn't try to rush us along our meal. We were able to just eat slowly and drink our coffee for a bit after we finished our meal. We even got coffee to go! Such a fabulous experience! I would definitely come back when I'm in town again!

Yelp
Hidden gem alert in Monrovia! We stopped by Café de Olla for breakfast and I'm so glad we did. This place gives you that warm, homemade feel, both in the food and the atmosphere. We ordered the Del Campo and Del Norte plates. Both came with chilaquiles, eggs, beans, and their own twist. Del Campo had chorizo and papas, and Del Norte came with flavorful beef fajitas. Portions were generous, everything was super tasty, and the chilaquiles hit that perfect balance of saucy and crispy. You can tell the food is made with love, like a good home cooked breakfast but elevated. The inside is cozy, clean, and cute decorated in a way that makes you feel like you're at someone's house (but in the best way). The service was great. The staff checked in on us often without hovering. One detail I thought was really sweet: when someone's celebrating a birthday, they play Las Mañanitas over the speakers and bring out a cute frame for the guest. It was such a wholesome touch that made the vibe even more special. Definitely planning to come back, this spot feels like a local favorite, and now I totally see why!

Yelp
What a great find for a brunch spot! We came here close to noon on Monday and the place was packed! We added our name ahead of time to the waitlist and were seated shortly upon arrival. The food was so good! Service was a bit slow, at times inattentive, but not bad. The place was lively and loud for a Monday morning!

Yelp
Looking for breakfast in Monrovia? Cafe de Olla does not disappoint. My husband and I tried out the spot last week for a quick midweek breakfast. There really aren't many good spots in SGV for a sit down breakfast, mostly to go coffee shops with pastries so we are always down to discover something new. Cafe de Olla is right on the main street in old Monrovia on Myrtle near the library. The restaurant is excellent from the ambiance, the service, and the food! We tried out the nopales con huevos plate along with the berry crispy French toast with eggs and turkey sausage. Everything was well portioned and upper mid range price at about $18 per plate. They also come around with a cart of their fresh pan dulce (for purchase) which look delicious and have decent flavor. The French toast was amazing and everything tasted fresh, even the turkey sausage was surprisingly flavorful and our food came out within minutes. I especially loved the verses on the back wall with motivational quotes included. Looking forward to our next visit, even the lunch and dinner menus look fire!

Yelp
It's that time fellow yelpers, I was a bit peckish yesterday and had some time to kill . First time eating here . I did a phone order but I just wanted something simple . I ordered a bean and cheese with egg. Let me tell you ..... I don't know what they put on that tortilla but it was buttery good . Everything folded in perfectly ... salsa was spicy enough and had good flavor . I paired it up with a cafe de olla that was also traditional in flavor . The guy that took my order was super nice and didn't even bat an eye to my order ... he's like " yeah we can do that " . Everything hit the spot . I'll be circling back for some of their other menu items . Sorry no photo ---- but trust me , it was good .

Yelp
This place get busy quick. Be sure to check in. The service is fairly good. The staff are quick. There's a good amount of seating, especially for family-sized groups. I've been here a few times before. At first I got the generic American breakfast and it was fine. But that was my mistake. Definitely getting the Mexican food items is worth it. Today I got the mole enchiladas. At first I was apprehensive over the quantity of rice and beans. Usually you get tons of it at Mexican places. But it was actually the perfect portion. I was full and no need for leftovers. The food was delicious. The mole had a small amount of kick to it which made it flavorful. I'd keep returning, especially for their in-place made tortillas and Mexican sweet bread!

Yelp
This place is literally what made me start loving chilaquiles on a different level lolol We discovered this place through Yelp. I'm a major Yelper and immediately headed to the reviews to see if this place gets crowded and yep, it surely does. I've found it to be very helpful to join the waitlist 15-20 mins prior to my arrival so if you are an occasional impatient gal like me, I suggest joining the waitlist. Their chilaquiles are really tasty. I usually get chipotle and azteca salsas but will change it up here and there. Their rice is TOP NOTCH! I love garlic and their rice has a good garlicky kick to it. Beans are also very tasty. Their iced cafe de olla is the only cafe de olla I like so I definitely recommend also giving that a try. Overall a really delicious restaurant. Employees are nice. Atmosphere is great. Only thing I wish is that they had bigger tables. Their booth tables are insanely small, especially if you are only a party of 2. Nothing crazy though. That will definitely not stop me from coming here haha.

Yelp
Cafe de Olla had me incredibly impressed with its cafe style setup, stellar food, and good service! To start- we visited on a weekday and had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table for 3. The restaurant was pretty full and had a lobby full of guests by the time we were seated. There is also outdoor seating which is available upon request. Let's start with the highlights! - Coffee / Pastry Bar: there are multiple displays of pastries, pan Dulce, and cakes in the front lobby area. There's also a coffee bar where you can get coffee if you are in a rush. I was able to snag a coffee while we waited for our food. BTW, the iced cafe de olla is a smash! I only wish I could've had more. - Food & Value: I opted for the breakfast burrito which is LOADED with meats, and is definitely not on the pricy side (less than $15.) For the amount of meat and food, it was an incredible value and SUPER tasty. Definite highlight. I'm not sure if it was the timing of our visit, but we were offered table side pastries, which we opted for a concha- super delicious! Overall, I loved our experience here and would definitely make a return visit when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Had breakfast at Cafe de Olle in Monrovia and loved it! I got the All-in-One burrito with Mexican sausage and eggs -- super tasty and filling. My wife had the fajita omelette, which was also really good. Service was friendly, quick, and efficient. Really awesome decor with rustic feel. Nice spot to catch up with a friend over breakfast. Street parking's easy too.

Yelp
I don't come here much ! LOL ;D No para nada !! My favorite restaurant in town! Been coming here to Danny's amazing restaurant since they started out in a tiny hole in the wall in Burbank! We used to wait 2 hours for a table that's how serious it was ! We love it so much we used to drive from Glendora to Burbank, just to have breakfast! Sometimes 2xs a month !! YESSSSS ! It's that good ! Yes we roll like that for things we love. Why do we love it ?! It's not just the coffee! EVERYTHING I've ever tried is just mouthwatering, flavor explosion ! Delicious just perfect ! We've always had the best service and waiters as well. I can't remember all of them because some are gone but let me see, Ruben, Jacky, Patty, and Afrodita. Just yesterday was great I always get the same, cafe de olla of course. Can't come here and not have! Poblano soup yummmm ! And Mole on top of Huevos a la Mexicana, La Lupita, THE BEST !! or shredded pollo with mole. If you've never been and you like Mexican food, what you waiting for ?

Yelp
First timer. Solo date. Walk in/Dine in. I decided to try this place out since I was in the area. At first I was going to get it to go however, I had some extra time on my hands so as I ordered I decide to enjoy my meal in their front/outdoor area. The workers here are great! It's my first time and I had a few questions and wasn't sure where to go or what to do and they helped me figure it all out so kindly without judgement. I ordered their 20oz. iced coffee & all in one burrito =$21.72 + tip =$25.66 After I sat down, I received my coffee in less than 5 minutes & my burrito in about 15 minutes after that. Not too bad of a wait. The coffee ... WOW! I felt like those commercial girls at the first sip when the air blows her hair away from her face; it's delicious ! 10/10 for sure ! The burrito ... is delicious ! I'm not a big fan of red salsa but it complimented the burritos very nicely! I even got to talk to some of the workers bussing & serving the tables and they're super nice ! I felt a sense of family in this place with each interaction I had, it was really nice! I'd definitely come back again when I'm in the area, just to try out more of their stuff! It's a def must try in my books!

Yelp
First time going to Los Angeles! My brother recommended this place due to good Mexican dishes and coffee. I came right around opening time and the servers were welcoming, which I'm impressed. I'm not usually a morning person. It was a small cafe with limited space inside, but very cozy and open. I ordered a green chilaquiles with eggs and a Cafe de Olla coffee ( highly recommended by my brother). God, do I wish we could have this kind of coffee at my area! I love cinnamon, chai, and other spices in my coffee. Most coffee shops that use these kinds of spices always put too much sugar or milk in their drinks. But this Spanish coffee was perfect! I ended up getting a refill and finished off my Mexican breakfast. If I could come again, this is my first breakfast place to go!

Yelp
We wanted to try something different while we were in this area. Definitely must spit to visit the ambiance and the decor was awesome. Expect long wait but they text you when your table is ready plus nice little city to walk around. Now first the staff super nice from the person who seats you to the waitress. There were number of birthdays which was cool they sing with a cardboard cutout so cool. The food well first we ordered pan Dulce with the best Cafe de Olla omg was amazing with sweet bread. We ordered Chilaquiles with machaca with refried beans was so good with floor tortillas plus service was great. Definitely we are coming again.

Yelp
I find this place interesting, in a sense where you need to just try it to find out. I've been here three times and on the third try, found exactly what I would order from here going forward. They have a mix of traditional American and Latin American breakfast. I found the combo plate with chilliquiles and machaca to be my favorite. A side note, their peanut butter and jelly French toast was unbelievable, I might dream about it to be honest. And now my one gripe. They sell multiple sizes of their drinks in the cafe section of their restaurant but only one size at the table. That kinda sucked and I hated that. Come here but expect to wait on weekends. They get a little busy but could be worth it just for that pb&j French toast.

Yelp
The BEST café de olla among all cafes in town. Been here many times and this time I brought my family here. Very cozy and comfortable café, staffs are welcoming and patient. There are indoor and outdoor seats. Many pastries to choose from on top of all the delicious savory dishes. Highly recommended for all coffee and brunch lovers.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in town. The wait can be somewhat overwhelming, but it's totally worth it.

Yelp
Good food and the sweets looked amazing. Came on a Friday morning and it was pretty busy. Regardless got seated right away and had a hard time not stopping at the front pastry cases when I walked in. I went with a combinacion Sinaloa which was deep fried tamales with chilaquiles, eggs and beans. Everything on the plate was kick ass. So much flavor in every bite. Definitely was mixing it all so I could get all the flavors in one bite. Only thing I didn't like was the price. A little expensive for breakfast mainly the Coke that was $5. But otherwise good spot to eat. There were plenty of other options that looked delicious as well.

Yelp
I had to eat here twice to do a proper review. It was so good my first time and consistent for my second time. I recommend to visit during the week, because it's an hour to two hour wait over the weekend. I finally have eaten here inside and on the patio. I like the vibes and smells like you're inside a concha. I always love a spot that has nopales on their menu. An underrated dish that is delicious! Do try anything cafe de olla! The service was quick, I believe I waited 10-15 minutes at most. I appreciated them checking in but also not rushing with the bill. This is a great place for small and medium groups up to 6. I can't wait to come back for lunch.

Yelp
I was craving an iced cafe de olla so after a google search I found this place and decided to check it out (we also found their instagram). It is located in old town Monrovia super charming area. When we went in we were immediately acknowledged and warmly greeted with big smiles and small talk (I think it was the owner) which was so pleasant. We were quickly seated by a friendly hostess and greeted by our waitress Maria. The vibe and energy was so good, holiday music playing and awesome decor. I ordered an ice cafe de olla and the chilaquiles and my partner ordered a waffle and eggs with hot cafe de olla. The food was good and the staff were great, we will definitely come back. I was happy to find a new place to try especially because it's a smaller family owned business. Thank you for the hospitality!

Yelp
Good, food is good. Clean and somewhat polite. Mexican Dennys is the best I can put it, but definitely better in their own way.

Yelp
Vibe: This little downtown street/area is always so lovely. I adore going down this way to eat or hang. It was a cold day and we still sat outside to watch people pass by with cute dogs and/or kids. The atmosphere and vibe inside is cozy but can be noisy since they're often busy or always have customers! Seating is just normal but I love looking at what sweets or goods they have on display just there at the front. Service: From all the times we've been, they've all been great! There was an embarrassing and emotional moment I had with my mother the last time we were here but they were very kind, understanding, and patient with us. The service is slow when you sit outside BUT that's generally my expectation when I sit outside anywhere. Most people are inside so that's where the usual focus is. Food: Solid! Usually delicious and I never really had any complaints. Today, the star was the dip!! Esquite/Street Corn Dip - Soooo yummy. It's creamy with just that small hint of smoky spice from the chili on top and a tang that helps curb the richness! The sweetness of the corn peeks through and I'd say Esquites and Elotes are always one of my top street foods! I would 100% get it again. Soy Chorizo wrap - It's good and incredibly filling! While I didn't mind it, the flavor felt one dimensional. Nothing stood out and it wasn't a burst of flavor either. I think it all kind of melded together. The wrap felt like it was missing another flavor profile/layer to give it more OOMPH. Scooping some of the esquite dip on top helped a lot or eating with ketchup. The sauce/salsa they gave just didn't have enough going on to add anything to the wrap! Don't let my soy chorizo wrap review deter you from coming here to try! Their chilaquiles are awesome and the sweet breakfast items are heavenly as well. I had to resist ordering a waffle or pancakes. I didn't take a photo of my mother's food because she was super hungry but she said she enjoyed the Sopa de Tortilla and her Asada and Chicken tacos!

Yelp
We had a really bad experience . I just hoped everyone really had the enthusiasm or energy to really greet and smile . Especially when it's our first time visiting this restaurant everyone is always talking about . Emiliano gave us a really bad experience.

Yelp
Searching for a place to eat, this location popped up on my Yelp search. We took a chance after seeing the amount of positive reviews and it did not disappoint! I would recommend joining the waitlist ahead of time if possible because there were a number of people there waiting to be seated. There is a bakery when you first enter and the restaurant seating towards the back. The food was very flavorful. Be prepared if you are not able to handle spicy food because I was caught off guard with the spice level of my meal. I ordered an Abuelita latte expecting it to be on the sweeter side but it was more of strong coffee flavor. There wasn't a description on the menu so that is a possible suggestion. I did drink it though The service here was top notch! I really enjoyed that they have a cart with fresh bread and offer you some when you are waiting for your food.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot with a Latin cuisine flair. Their menu is so big, it's hard to decide what to try since everything sound good. I tried the Nopales and Eggs and my wife had the Berry Crunchy French Toast. Both were solid and very good portions. The restaurant is very clean and well decorated with their brand colors with no over the top cheesy latin decor. Loved the selection of fresh Pan Dulces and the table side Service where they bring a cart to your table to choose a bread with your drink. Our server was nice and attentive. Will def come back a try more dishes or their lunch/dinner menu.

Yelp
I was a bit hesitant on coming back after my first average experience, but glad I did, and more than a few times. Service has gotten better as our servers were friendlier. The different food I tried is also better. Maybe it's the bad recommendation from the server on my first visit but I now have a couple of items I enjoy. One is the Machaca burrito. It's big but not very heavy. The shredded meat is nicely seasoned and goes well with their hot sauce. I also love the namesake drink, Cafe de Olla, a Mexican coffee with cinnamon and sugar. Mildly sweet and easy to drink, plus they give refills. It's as good as the one I had in Mexico. It's always fairly lively in there. Sometimes you'll hear them sing happy birthday, but it's almost always a full house, even on weekdays. Although I'm not always in the mood for. Mexican breakfast, I'm glad I didn't write this place off. Will continue to come back again.

Yelp
I want share my experience for anyone considering applying here. The interview process is extremely unprofessional and honestly a waste of time. Interviews aren't conducted as scheduled, communication is poor, and applicants are often dismissed without a real conversation. I've also known several people who applied, and the turnover is very high. It's clear most people are family members or friends,so outside applicants rarely have a chance. Instead of of being honest about that, they continue posting jobs and having people show up with no intention of actually hiring or keeping them part of the team longer than probation period. Until they fix their interview process and be upfront who they're actually considering, I wouldn't recommend anyone waste their time applying. Good luck to those who do interview and hope you last longer than a few day to weeks or past probation period.

Yelp
Food was good but service was slowwww. We came during the peak hours on a weekend so we expected to wait. The front staff said 30-45 min, which ultimately turned out to be 60 min. By the time we sat down, we told the server we were ready to order because we had been waiting for a while. He didn't come back for our order, and another server had to tell him, "hey, that table is ready to order." Food was served to our table at different times, which was fine but our last entree didn't come for 20-25 min. My poor friend was hungry and patiently waiting. The server did kindly offer us a free pan dulce after the fact. All in all, good restaurant but disorganized in terms of service and maintaining efficiency. For example, if you know you're slammed and it's going to be slow, tell the guests that it might be a longer wait than possible and ask if they'd like their meals to be served staggered or all at once?

Yelp
Stopped in here for breakfast and I loved it! My uncle told me about the cafe de Olla coffee so I already knew a bit what to expect but it was absolutely delicious! I usually take my coffee black so having the addition of the cinnamon spice was really nice! I had a few cups of it during our breakfast since service was really attentive and kept our cups filled! I got the huevos divorcados since I wanted to try both the poblano sauce and the ranchero sauce. They were both tasty but I liked the poblano sauce more and next time I'll probably just get a dish with this! The corn tortillas came out piping hot and complemented the sauce and eggs perfectly. The portion was generous and I left happy with a full belly.

Yelp
I've been searching for authentic tostadas for so long and I finally found some! I ordered the tostadas with shredded beef and they were phenomenal, their spicy salsa had the right amount of heat too! Their menu is extensive and I want to try it all. Their service was excellent and the server helped us with all our menu questions. We enjoyed the outdoor seating which is pet friendly and they even brought my dog a bowl of water. I found their menu to be on the pricey side, but the food is oh so tasty so worth the splurge when craving good Mexican food.

Yelp
If you come for a Sunday brunch, you will have to wait. Just expect it. In fact, as soon as it opens, get on Yelp and get on their waitlist. We got on the waitlist around 10:30a and we were seated a little over an hour later. By the time we ordered, the waitlist was closed off completely. The restaurant keeps things moving by putting a time limit on your table, but our party of four didn't feel rushed and service was attentive without being pushy. So, is the wait worth it? Yes! Everything we tried, including their cafe de olla was delicious. The pricing was fair considering the portion size. Would definitely come back! As a random note, when we sat down the cushion of our booth was torn and looked a little rundown, but obviously they have a lot of people coming through, so maybe not surprising? Just took away from feeling five star.

Yelp
Parking is hit or miss depending on the day or time, since this area can get busy. I got the cafe de olla latte and it was really yummy! I also ordered the chilaquiles divorciados and double rice since I'm not a fan of beans. Everything was so tasty, except for I wasn't a huge fan of the green sauce for the chilaquiles. The decor was nice and there's a cafe in front. The service was awesome and my server helped me decide what to get, since I can be a bit indecisive. I'll have to go back to try more, since it was my first time, and there are so many good choices on the menu!
