"We’ve yet to see Patrice Bergeron splitting the poutine with a table full of Mounties at Cafe du Pays in Kendall Square, but we have little doubt that it happens. This is a French Canadian restaurant and, though it doesn’t feature maple syrup in every dish, the menu is filled with pancakes, maple-glazed pork, and gamey stuff like smoked trout and venison meat pies that you’d assume you’d eat in a rural Quebecois cabin. And with dark, low-ceilinged rooms, floral wallpaper, and a cozy area with armchairs, a rural Quebecois cabin is kind of what it feels like, too." - Dan Secatore

Cozy atmosphere and hospitable servers who know the menu and wine selection well. The mushroom chips, sourdough bread and pickled radishes are so memorable, my favorites among all orders. Fresh fish (catch of the day: flounder) is tender with flavorful crispy skin. The restaurant serves unique Canadian French fusion cuisine. Bravos to chefs for their adventuris menu design. Best wishes for steady increase of fan following like me!

Look at how happy of a birthday boy I am from eating at Cafe du Pays. I loved eating here. Take a look at the first photo. That's their duck dish. Are you seeing what I'm seeing. An absolutely gorgeous piece of seared duck where the meat is oh so tender, the fat cuts like butter and the skin gives it a nice crispy touch. The second picture is the Chou-Farci which is their staple stuffed cabbage vegetable dish. Their was so much complexity in this dish with the tahini and the layers of mushrooms. Step outside your comfort zone and have a glass of cognac for dessert.

I flew in from NYC and found this gem of a restaurant thanks to a friend. The food is prepared perfectly, especially the duck. Simple yet flavorful tastes. Unique and memorable wines and ciders. Plus, friendly and attentive staff that make you feel at home in the cozy decor. Also, try the charcuterie. Yum.

Great restaurant. Had the best Duck I have ever had. Really nice ambiance. Highly recommend it as a date night. Will definitely be going back. Besides the duck I highly recomend the meat pie for an appetizer.

I wanted to love this place, and while its great for a date night, the waiters are a bit temperamental, and the food really is just average.

Great drinks, carefully done, and good food. The atmosphere is great, not too loud. On the expensive side.

Great experience! Everything was really refined but also the kind of food you can eat every day, and the service was perfect. Actually, I would go every day, if I could.
