On the Grid : Café Dulce

"This casual counter-serve café is best-known for the legendary green tea donuts, and rightly so. But branch out, into an array of freshly-baked delicacies including chewy spirulina rolls, flavored rotis, bacon donuts and for the coffee snob … four types of coffee (Ritual, Four Barrel, Stumptown and Copa Vida). Warning: to preserve freshness, they bake in limited batches and sell out early." - Sandwich Video

"An Asian-style bakery and early gourmet coffee shop in Little Tokyo opened in 2012 by James Choi and his mother, offering fruit-adorned egg tarts, strawberry cream doughnuts, Vietnamese coffee, and Hong Kong–style milk tea. Carole recommends the cream-filled matcha doughnuts and the chewy green “dinosaur egg” tapioca-flour buns (colored with spirulina)." - Mae Hamilton

LA Coffee Shops That Serve Great Food

"Deep in the heart of Little Tokyo’s fun and very touristy Japanese Village Plaza sits Caffe Dulce, a counter-serve coffee shop serving some of our favorite baked goods downtown. While you can’t go wrong with any of their housemade pastries, their Green Tea donut is worth the drive from wherever you are in the city. If you’re in the mood for something slightly more substantial, their baguette sandwich situation is not to be ignored." - jess basser sanders, brant cox

I enjoy drinking at Cafe Dulce. I usually get the Apple Spiced Latte and my Mom gets the Rose Tea Latte which is really good!! I enjoy the Foam of the Latte. Last Saturday I tried the Blueberry Matcha Latte and it is really good!! The Service was Good when I was going to get the Matcha Latte but the Casher Recommend the Blueberry Matcha Latte. I not usually a Matcha Person but now if I want to drink a Matcha Drink then I will go to Cafe Dulce!! It gets crowded on either the Morning or Noon Time and the Line is Long but you don’t have to wait too long for the line and you can place your order for either Food or Drink. I recommend the Blueberry Matcha Latte if it’s a hot day.

Google
Cafe Dulce offers variety of tasty pastries, donuts and coffee. I tried hot Americano and the Tiramisu cake. It's a great pairing. My daughter loves the blueberry matcha latte. We will go back there again tomorrow.

Nice café in Little Tokyo with a great selection of drinks, sandwiches, salads, and sweet treats. Perfect for a casual stop any time before the kitchen closes at 6 PM. Drinks from $4.00 to $7.25 They offer coffee (drip, espresso-based, cold brew, Vietnamese), matcha options (classic, blueberry, unsweetened), iced teas, and tea lattes like masala chai and Hong Kong style. Custom options include iced versions, extra espresso, and non-dairy milk. Sandwiches from $10.50 to $13.00: Ham & Cheese (Jambon), Turkey Swiss, Pesto Chicken, Dulce Club, Apple Tuna, Caprese, Portobello Burger (vegetarian), Pastrami, Spicy Korean Cheesesteak All sandwiches come with a fresh side salad. I had the Ham & Cheese without mustard - it was excellent. The Turkey Swiss is equally good. Salads from $12.00 to $13.00: Peanut Kale, Caprese, Cranberry Walnut, Mango Jicama Chicken, Asian Chicken Protein add-ons (chicken, avocado, or tuna) available for $2.50. Breakfast from $10.00 to $12.95: - Breakfast Burrito or Breakfast Sandwich (choice of bacon, sausage, or avocado) - Ranchera Steak Burrito Extras like egg or meat can be added. Desserts They also serve a variety selection of sweets: cakes, donuts, cream puffs and cakes.

Google
We wanted some coffee and saw everyone with a dulce cup so we obviously had to try some . This place always has a line ! They have some interesting unique desserts 🍮 we were too full from the crepe earlier down the street and just wanted some coffee . We chose the Vietnamese iced coffee . Four shots of espresso shaken with condensed milk. It was refreshing , delicious and not that sweet - really enjoyed it !

Google
We got there at 11:25 and beat the noon lunch rush. The food came out fairly quickly and service was good! The ranchera steak burrito was good and filling The spicy chicken sandwich was really food! Breakfast burrito with avocado was also good! Definitely coming back!

Google
Our to-go cafe if we're in the Little Tokyo area. We tried hot chocolate, blueberry matcha and Hong Kong tea latte before. All were excellent and not too sweet or diluted by milk. The highlight of this cafe is the baked goods. We liked the strawberry cream puff a lot! They have donuts and cake slices too that are popular. Overall, would recommend everyone stop by if you're in the area.

Google
I & my wife very enjoyed going to this cafe in the morning, because is the morning is not that crowded, and can slowly enjoy breakfast sandwich & morning coffee at this cafe, the coffee is good, but the most delicious is the breakfast sandwich, the sauce on the sandwich is perfect not too rich and can taste everything. Good little Tokyo, it feels like you in Japan the same, of course the price is not high at all, one coffee one matcha latte and one breakfast sandwich, only cost me $23

Google
This tiny café inside the Japanese Village Plaza serves some of the most interesting donuts I’ve ever had. The green tea donut is a standout, and their bacon donut surprised me in a good way. I also grabbed a Vietnamese iced coffee—strong and sweet, just how I like it. It gets busy, but the line moves quickly. A cute place to stop and people-watch in the plaza

Yelp
Nothing hits the spot like hot tea during the night. Just finished shopping in little tokyo and decided to go for some. The service was very nice and the cashier (a male with glasses) was very helpful and informative. I ended getting the jasmine tea (nice and aromatic) along with some pastries. Cool spot to check out and one of the only tea spots in that little area

Yelp
One of my 2025 goals is to post on Yelp with every place I visit. As someone who reconnected (very seriously) with cooking and especially baking in late 2023, trying new places is very fundamental to the process. Just like I am dedicated Letterboxd user with my logs and reviews, Yelp will be the second. Started off the new year at Cafe Dulce. Located in Japanese Village at Little Tokyo, the place is very cute but on the small side. There's only bar seats available but there's also outdoor seating. There was a long line when we arrived but even though it didn't move as fast, we didn't wait that long. The servers were really nice and patient, especially since I am someone who orders a lot when I am trying a new place as you see in the photos. They have a VARIETY of pastries available that it's a bit overwhelming but I easily made good choices. Unfortunately, they don't list the name of their pastries online but some I am certain of some names. 1. Brick toast - Starting off with the Brick Toast. This is my sister and her boyfriend's favorite item from this cafe. I will say it taste good but they hyped it up too much. It tastes like crunchy brioche. Nothing too spectacular but that doesn't mean not tasty. A nice subtle cream in between I learned is honey mixed with other ingredients makes dessert come alive. 2. Chocolate chip cookies - Pretty solid. I prefer my chocolate chip cookies more on the softer side in the middle and crunchy on the outside. This texture was a bit too rough but the chips they used tasted of better quality and the nice sprinkle of sea salt is an amazing touch. 3. Brownie - Finding a delicious brownie is very hard. I have yet to find the best brownie. This one was a bit too rich and the texture a bit too thick. This time, the salt didn't help as I felt they sprinkled too much. 4. Carrot cake - After making a cake recipe 3 times and perfecting it, it's a bit more hard finding the same cake flavor that beats your #1. Danielle Rye's carrot cake recipe I have made is the best so far. For cafe Dulce's, I would have preferred with cream cheese frosting instead of buttercream as carrot cake and cream cheese is the perfect combo like red velvet, and I felt the spices were too strong in this cake. However, it was very moist. I would actually entertain the idea of getting it again though. Weird, I know. 5. Oreo Cheesecake - This baby was the unexpected SCENE STEALER. I have had my share of bad Oreo cheesecakes so I was scared when I ordered this. The cream cheese in the cheesecake is marvelous, and paired with the Oreos blended in and some fudge frosting on the top all came together deliciously. One of the best cheesecakes I have tried. 6. Strawberry jam donut - This had chopped strawberries inside with some jam. Nothing new. It tasted identical to one of my favorite donut shops. 7. Trinity of chocolate cake - The description makes it out be more spectacular then it is. It's 3 different types of chocolate in one: milk, dark and white. It's an ok cake. Not much of a fan of its texture being more similar to tres leches and I really couldn't taste all the types of chocolate. 8. Breakfast burrito with bacon (add avocado) - This is flour tortilla with bacon, scrambled eggs, spicy mayo, potatoes, cilantro, red onions, cheddar and jack cheese, and salsa. Only 2 critiques! First, I wish the tortilla was on the thicker side and second, I prefer hash browns in a burrito over potatoes. I also couldn't really taste the spicy mayo but just an observation; not a critique. This ranks pretty high on my burrito list so far, even with those critiques. 9. From yelp pictures, it looks like this is labeled strawberry cream donut but the raspberry flavor bursts in your mouth, from the cream to the bread itself. An interesting dessert but not my cup of tea. I feel I'd like the Oreo one more. 10. Fruit tart: bought this for my parents because I'm not a fruit tart gal! They enjoyed it. Overall, this has become one of my favorite places and I will definitely be back for a burrito again and to go through all their desserts. A 4-5 stars from me for a place means two thumbs up.

Yelp
If you walk through the Japanese Village Plaza in the morning before most of the other restaurants and shops are open, this place is by far the most crowded, usually with a line out the door. Over the years it seem they have expanded their menu offerings. Before it was primarily a coffee and pastry place, but now they have a more expansive beverage and pastry menu plus hot breakfast items, a lunch menu and a full bakery for whole cakes and what not. I just ordered a couple of delicious doughnuts to go. The strawberry jam one had fresh strawberries inside, while the maple one was topped with macadamia nuts. Service is fairly quick, although there are many folks waiting for their drinks or breakfast orders to be prepared. There is perhaps a little stand-up space inside to eat, plus a few outdoor tables. I do not think the Plaza has any public restrooms, so be aware.

Yelp
I LOVE Cafe Dulce in Little Tokyo. This little cafe in LA is so good. The Blueberry Matcha is one of my favorite matchas that I have ever had. Customer service is also super friendly and helpful. I made a mistake with my order and they were very understanding. Drinks also come out quick even when theres a big line and its super busy. All the pastries there look so good too and the whole store is very clean. In my most recent visit I ordered the Blueberry Matcha Latte ($5.50) and an extra $1 for Oat Milk. Then also the Red Bean Roti ($3.75). The Blueberry Matcha Latte had a nice matcha flavor that is also not overwhelming. The blueberry flavor you can actually taste too. It's kinda of a weird comparison, but the blueberry part kind of tastes like the blueberry flavor from Kellogg's Eggo Blueberry Waffles. I like how the flavor was sweet, but balanced each other out. The Red Bean Roti had a generous amount of red bean and it was worth getting also. You can't really go wrong with anything at Cafe Dulce. I'd want to come here everytime I go to LA.

Yelp
My review will just be based on the Hong Kong Tea Latte. I got it iced and it was so good! I got my drink pretty quickly so I was in and out of there. There's a couple of stools along the window and some tables and chairs outside. They had a wide assortment of pastries, fancy donuts, and cakes too! But I didn't get any. I'd come back to try their other offerings.

Yelp
Great place in Little Tokyo to grab a bite, drink, or desserts. With so many options in Little Tokyo Cafe Dulce gives different options like sandwiches, salads when you visit the village. Have some great pastries and a cup of coffee too. Great hot chocolate. Always busy but the service seems great from the staff. Counters inside to enjoy your meal or sit outside where there are tables. One of these days I'll have to try one of the sandwiches so I can sit at the tables or counter.

Yelp
Coffee Shop No. 429 Cafe Dulce Little Tokyo L.A., California October 10, 2024 A short stop in L.A. took me to Cafe Dulce in Little Tokyo 's Japanese Village so I could enjoy a cortado with one of my original coffee buddies. After five and half years of living in Japan the people and their culture are very dear to my heart; so visiting a coffee shop in the middle of a Japanese Cultural Center was very nostalgic for me. I definitely enjoyed the cortado made by the friendly baristas. I sat outside on a table sipping my cortado and people watching. A lovely way to spend the morning.

Yelp
This spot tends to be quite busy, especially on weekends and mornings, so be prepared for a bit of a line. They bake all their bread and donuts fresh daily, which really makes a difference! I often go for the breakfast sandwich paired with an iced cappuccino with oat milk. The bread is soft with a great texture, and the bacon donut is delicious if you're craving something savory. When I want a less sweet snack, I get the "dinosaur egg" - a tapioca ball with a chewy, mochi-like texture inside. Service is fast, and there's a cozy counter with high chairs indoors, along with a few tables outside. They offer a nice variety, with breakfast and lunch options like salads, sandwiches, donuts, cakes, coffee, and tea. Parking is available on Central and 1st, as well as some street parking nearby.

Yelp
We visited around 3:30pm on a Sunday. It was busy but not extremely crowded. We found parking in the garage directly across the street and paid $15 flat fee. There is street parking and validated parking available as well for cheaper options. Cafe Dulce was easy to find in the Japanese Village Plaza. The inside is small and the line will be out the door since the entry way is small so fear not of the line! It goes by fast. The employees were nice and patient when I ordered my large order. There is perimeter barstool seating inside, approximately 8 people could sit inside. And there are dedicated tables outside as well, about 5 tables that can fit a couple of people each. There is no bathroom available. Hot food is served until 6pm. Breakfast items are available too until 6pm. For drinks, I got the blueberry matcha latte iced and it was amazingly delicious. It was sweet but not overwhelming and I could taste hints of blueberry. We got the donuts right away at the cashier and the drinks were ready within 5 minutes of ordering. The food took about 15 minutes to come out. Here is the ratings for the food/drink: - Blueberry Matcha Latte: 5/5 - Ranchera Steak Burrito: 4/5 - very filling and tasted good. The hot sauce it came with was fresh and very spicy - Fruity Pebble Donut: 5/5 - perfect balance of fluffy donut with a thin layer of cream and the fruity pebble sweetness - Maple Macadamian Donut: 5/5 (my favorite!) - Green Tea Donut: 3.5/5 - Strawberry Jam Donut: 5/5 (very sweet) - Chocolate Cream Donut: 4/5 - Mango Milk Cream Donut: 4/5 - cream heavy but the subtle mango flavor was great! - Cinnamon Toast Crunch: 3.5 - Tasted a bit plain but love the execution of it - Dinosaur Egg: 2/5 - seems like a fan favorite but I did not like the hard outer shell. The inside texture was nice and had the chew of a sourdough bread, the taste was a plain sesame. I enjoyed more of the sweeter treats. Surprisingly, all of this only came out to about $65. That's not bad for specialty donuts, drinks, and two filling meals! Plus the artwork on the box is so cute! Would definitely come back again to try their other sweet treats and sandwiches.

Yelp
Great drinks - some of the best matcha! Large selection of delicious fresh baked pastries (the matcha brick toast is sweet, fluffy, and perfect with a hot drink). Cozy little spot with indoor and outdoor seating. And wonderful friendly staff! They do not have WiFi. I've been to another location and this one so far is the best one, highly recommend!

Yelp
Rating: 8/10 Cute cafe in the heart of Little Tokyo with adorable pastries and a delicious matcha latte! Bf and I came on a Sunday at around 3PM. It was a little crowded inside with people waiting for drinks and enjoying their food. There was only one couple in front of us before we got to order. Here's what we got: 1) Matcha Latte: 9/10. I came here just to try this! Really great matcha flavor, I wouldn't say it was the strongest I've had but really balanced and not too sweet, which is perfect for me. Options for regular and large size, but I got regular and it was just enough for me to drink as I shopped. (P.S. the difference between matcha latte and premium is that matcha latte is sweetened while premium is unsweetened!) 2) Chocolate Milk Bun: 8/10. Delicious and light! The cream wasn't too oily and was just perfectly sweet. The bun was a tad bit dry but still pretty soft, I just wish it were softer, which would have made it perfect. 3) Fruity Pebbles Donut Hole (BF's pick + rating): 8/10. He mentioned it was not too sweet and had a chewy dough. I thought it was tad bit dry but still tasted good. Overall, I would definitely be back for the matcha latte! I've tried some other matcha lattes in the area and this is one of the better ones. I recommend you come try this place out for yourself!

Yelp
For starters I'm not a coffee drinker or a sweets person but my partner is. We took the metro into downtown and came to Dulce to get her some coffee. We ended up ordering a few pastries and surprise.. I loved them. My partner ordered some coffee and a fruit topped pastry. I opted for more of a healthy option and went with a coco pebble and fruity pebble topped donut. It was great, we really enjoyed the pastries. It does get crowded and it happens quick so if you want to hang out there go at a slow hour or right when they open. There's some seating inside but there isn't much. Luckily most of these items can be consumed on the go.

Yelp
Little Toyko snack time. Follow the long line out the door to this super Korean bakery for donuts, drinks and my favorite -- sesame rolls. I know the donuts look (and taste) awesome, but if you've never had one of these 'dino eggs' (crispy outer shell, soft and chewy inside), you have got to try one. They're usually the first thing to sell out in the morning at other Korean bakeries (Paris Baguette, Tours le Jours), but I can usually find some here, even in the afternoon. Tons of fun drink options here. I went with the Blueberry matcha and I could have gulped down another one. There's a long, thin counter inside which I recommend. Tables outside, but ... bees. Guess everyone wants a donut. Cheers!

Yelp
I'd give this place a 3.5/5. Cafe Dulce gives me major nostalgia factor as the place where I first tried blueberry matcha and was my standard for the drink, but I feel like quality has gone down or it just tastes different as of late. Drinks (4/5): It's like a hit or miss some days, I suppose. The last time I visited, I remember that I loved my blueberry matcha and my husband's coffee. This time, it was just okay. Mostly like a sweet milk with a very faint taste of blueberry or matcha. Baked goods (3/5): Love the variety, but when it comes down to it, the baked items are just okay. They are good and the pricing is expected for the area, but it's nothing to really write home about. Ambiance (4/5): Small and busy, it still gives nice vibes and has a bit of seating outside and little bit inside to chat and catch up with friends (if you're able to get yourself a spot). Service (3/5): Standard but efficient. They are pretty busy usually and it seems to be that way all the way to closing time for those seeking some sweets or a drink. I'd probably still visit for nostalgia when I'm in the area, to be honest, but I would also be inclined to try something else next time.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
Undoubtedly another popular spot in the plaza, rarely do you see them without a line spilling to the outside. There is minimal table space inside and just a tad bit more space on the outside--snag it when you can. The service is friendly and efficient. Try their Matcha Latte, if you're inclined to. It's probably one of their more popular drinks and quite good. They also have some pretty pastries and other quick-service cafe options. They're staple and a vibe in the area.
google avatar

Michele P.

Yelp
A little non-Asian feeling gem in the midst of little Tokyo. Delicious coffee and pastries but sometimes the line gets long.
google avatar

Ash R.

Yelp
Cafe Dulce is a fantastic spot that hits all the right notes! I tried the blueberry matcha, green tea roti, and iced coffee, and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality you get. The service was friendly and efficient, making for a pleasant visit. One thing to note is that seating inside is quite limited, so you might need to take your goodies outside. Fortunately, that wasn't a problem, and the outdoor seating was just fine. Overall, I highly recommend Cafe Dulce for anyone looking for a great coffee and pastry experience. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a leisurely treat, it's definitely worth a stop!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is the best!! It's so famous in LA and all their drinks, pastries, cakes, food is so good!! The staff is always so friendly and they make you feel welcomed!! Shout out to Chris!! He was super friendly and kind! He needs a raise! Very great at customer service! Thank you for the great experience! I recommend this place to everyone! Will be back very soon!
google avatar

Alisa M.

Yelp
I'll make this a quick one! - there can be a line as it seems to be a popular spot in little Tokyo I would definitely come back to try their food, a lot of people were ordering sandwiches and salads but I just wanted a sweet treat. I got a strawberry cream donut which was good, the cream on top was not too sweet! Very pretty pastries they have. Their latte was delicious as well!
google avatar

Dominique W.

Yelp
I really enjoyed their bakery items and drinks but not really the Korean Philly cheesesteak. They gave us our drinks in a matter of less than 5 minutes! But where I wasn't the happiest was when you bite into the Philly cheesesteak it's so ever from the hot kimchi and bulgogi the juices just fall which can really be messy. My friend let me try the churro bread thing which tasted amazing and would definitely get that next time. I believe I got the brick toast which was very simple and light! It is a little smalll so I recommend getting the sneaking in the shade next time.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
I enjoyed their Assam Hong Kong tea, it was great. Unfortunately, I had to wait a while because someone took my order. But the team members were great and friendly. I also got few pastries, their custard creme brûlée is a must as well as their green tea donuts. I also enjoyed their chocolate donut holes. Inside is not that big, but plenty of pastries to choose from so be careful not to order a lot! or come only during your cheat day. Few seats inside and outside but if you happen to come during a busy day, then it's best to walk and snack! D

Yelp
This establishment is inside the Japanese village. It can get very packed with tourist and all. Still great coffee, I used to be a regular at the Dulce dos back then located next to American apparel. Coffee and customer service is still pretty damn exceptional. They stop serving food at 6 so the girl was not able to get her pesto chicken sandwich this time. Sad news bears.

Yelp
Matcha iced blue berry latte 9/10 Fresh, strawberry filled donut 9/10 Matcha custard filled donut 9/10 Fantastic experience! I was in the neighborhood for a meeting and needed a proper caffeine & baked goods fix. You can't go wrong with a donut as aesthetically pleasing & delicious as the fire truck red, fresh strawberry filled donut. The staff recommended it & I'm glad they did. I thought my love of matcha was limited to beverages before I tried the fried donut, The matcha dough Portuguese donut with the vanilla custard was spectacular. The staff were exceptional, I felt well taken care of.
google avatar

Joey T.

Yelp
Do you like a matcha latte? Do you like the idea of a Blueberry Matcha Latte? If either of those questions are yes - then you should make sure that your Matcha fix is at Dulce the next time you find yourself in Little Tokyo. In short, it slaps. In slightly-less-than-short, it's one of the best Matcha Lattes in an aera dense with them. It does have a fun tinge of blueberry that does make it a wee bit sweater than others. But the sweetness is not overpowering, it is earned.

Yelp
Located at the Village at USC. It can be very crowded; however, it really has a fast service at the USC. Been going to USC for the longest time now. Love this campus and cafe. It's always my good to. Came here for the mango jicama salad. Very refreshing and worth it. My husband didn't want anything at first. So my toddler wanted my fresh mangos. Then all of a sudden he wanted me to share...ummm...sorry not sorry.
google avatar

Zainab M.

Yelp
Delicious pastries and matcha was an 11/10!! If you're in the area highly recommend, it's one of the best matches I've ever had. I especially liked the donut holes with different cereals on them, the coco pebbles being my favorite.
google avatar

Caroline X.

Yelp
Got pastries and it was good. It didn't disappoint. We got there early so the service was quick. We had just beat the line before it got busy with a long line forming. We were stuffed with breakfast so we didn't get to try much. Definitely a stop in little Tokyo if you want some pastries.
google avatar

Oh K.

Yelp
Amazing place! And amazing service, the line are pretty long I would have to say, but that's mostly all. The food was great, I had a green iced tea with a brick toast (not in the pictures). the toast was so good, soft and fluffy with a sweet taste, the green iced tea was amazing, felts feel light and had herbal flavors. My partner had the matcha latte and strawberry cream donut and they loved it. I would come again :)

Yelp
Ordered a ice blueberry matcha and I asked for oat milk and then double checked with the barista if it had oat milk and he said "yes" while he was holding a milk gallon... I decided to trust him but I regret that because for the whole day I was fighting for my life being lactose intolerant but atleast the matcha was good thou

Yelp
Came for lunch on a Wednesday and it was busy! There was a line to the cashier and had to wait a good 10 minutes. Good thing I ordered on the phone this morning which made things faster. Note that they only take food orders via phone. -Breakfast burrito ($9.50) (5/5): already cut in half, it was a good portion for the price. Had sausage, potatoes, cheese, spicy mayo, and eggs- it was yummy! No complaints at all. -Blueberry matcha latte ($5.50) (4/5): subbed oat milk which cost an extra dollar. This latte was pretty good with a taste of blueberry that tasted real? This was more towards the sweet side but still worth trying. Ambiance was fine with limited seating inside and outside. Parking can be a challenge and at a price (this is LA after all). No cup holders though for the drinks which was a bummer
google avatar

Albert C.

Yelp
The food and drinks were great. The raspberry cream puff pastry thing was oh so fluffy and sweet. The blueberry matcha latte was also delightful. Breakfast burrito was filled to the brim with egg. I might have wanted a little more meat/sausage, but overall it was still a solid burrito. I went with my friend right after the Dodgers parade, so the restaurant was the hectic and busy. We had some communication problems with my order, but they were resolved by the team. I gotta give it up to Phil for his efforts to make things right, and for the rest of the staff for handling the rush of customers. Amazing customer service!
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Came here around 7 am on a Tuesday morning, and was surprised that there was a good amount of people in line or that had just ordered! Looks like people come here before work. The service was pretty quick, which isn't too surprising since most of their baked goods were fully stocked. Me and my friend decided to eat outside, and they brought her breakfast burrito to her! The breakfast burrito was so good. The eggs were soft but not too runny. I ordered a green tea rotti. It was soft and not too sweet either. Would recommend coming here during the day so you can enjoy the sun outside!

Yelp
My niece and nephew are hooked on the blueberry matcha lattes and their dinosaur eggs. We got an assortment of bread and it was so good! Def recommend! Service was super welcoming and friendly too!

Yelp
Cafe Dulce is a cool place that serves a multitude of different food and beverages. It has great service and nice outdoor seating. This place has good vibes and helps light up the village. The breakfast burrito was pretty good. The tortilla was cooked well it had egg that was seasoned and sausages that were cooked perfectly. The potatoes were nice and soft. Overall it was a solid breakfast burrito. The salsa on the side that it comes with is really awesome adds a good kick to it. The Hong Kong Tea was also good. It was new and different to me. It had a very interesting taste but it was good. Overall a solid experience can't wait to go back and try other things.

Yelp
Very good matcha - not clumpy or too much milk. The line moved quick and I got my order after about 10 min of waiting on a busy Saturday. Small space but they have outdoor seating to accommodate bigger groups.

Yelp
Nestled in little Tokyo this cafe offers a unique and tasty variety of donuts and pastries. It was definitely tough to make a choice but I ended up going with the coffee donut. The coffee grounds sprinkled on top gave it a nice crunch and extra coffee flavor boost. To drink they have plenty of options as well but I went with a matcha latte and it was so delicious and perfectly frothy. I definitely need to go back and try their other donuts!

Yelp
This spot is adorable. There isn't too much seating but there were bar stools with a counter all around (I'd estimate maybe 12 of those bar stools, but actually paying attention to the number of things isn't my strong suit). My drink came out pretty quickly and the person at the register, as well as the person who handed me coffee were friendly. I ordered the Dulce latte iced with almond milk. For me, it's the right ratio of ice to coffee so I was pleased. Normally I order the Oreo donut because I love all things Oreo. The donut/pastry selection looks amazing, so I'll definitely be back to try more. Side note: I came on a Sunday. It was hard to find street parking and the Japanese Village Plaza Parking was full, so I parked at the Aiso Parking garage on San Pedro St between 1st and Temple.

Yelp
I am so happy I got to stop by here! Completely by accident, I think I found my new favorite cafe. I had never tried "Roti" before and was always pleasantly surprised. I had a blueberry roti and half a "snow cap" ...so light, so perfect for coffee! Staff was incredible. The wait was not bad AT ALL for how busy it was. Definitely come early! The vibes were vibing overall, I cannot wait to try something new next time I'm in the area!

Yelp
My sister has been raving about this place for their blueberry matcha lattes so we made a trip out to Little Tokyo! I got the iced blueberry matcha latte. The quality of the matcha powder was great. The blueberry taste was a bit floral which I actually enjoyed. But if you're looking for a blueberry fruit / non-artificial flavor, it probably won't be the drink for you. Parking is a bit tough & pricey. It is LA so it's expected. There is a parking structure, the Japanese Village Plaza Parking, and the staircase leads directly into the Little Tokyo area which was convenient.

Yelp
It's on the cheaper side and gives you an opportunity sit down and rest your legs. The pastry was a little dry, but it gave me enough energy to get through the next stop of my trip. Service was reasonably fast and the cafe was clean enough. I was lucky to be able to get a table.

Yelp
I came here to grab some donuts to go. The line was long but went by relatively quickly. The shop has indoor and outdoor seating, if you wanted to dine-in and is located in the Japanese Village plaza. Green tea (3/5): The dough is really fluffy and there's a bit of filling inside the donut but I couldn't really taste the matcha. The donut has sugar coating outside, so I think it was too sweet overall. I would have preferred it without the sugar outside the donut but I did like the soft dough. OG Roti (3/5): This donut was okay. The outside was crispy/crunchy, and there's some filling inside but overall it wasn't anything special. Probably wouldn't order this one again. They had other donuts that I'll try next time. I saw that they had other food options and drinks, so I'll definitely try those things out at my next visit.

Yelp
A Cute bakery in little Tokyo Japanese village. The cashier lady was friendly and helpful. The price was a bit on the higher side considering I only ordered 2 small items and it's over $10. The display tag for the name and the price weren't available. I literally have to run left and right to point things out for the cashier.

Yelp
Loved the premium matcha if you want to taste just plain matcha and the blueberry matcha was sweet and good too! Would come back here again.

Yelp
Wow, I've been going for about 13 years! They never disappoint, and everyone there is lovely. I started caring more about coffee when I first visited Cafe Dulce. I frequently get the Blueberry Matcha, but I also like getting the Hong Kong Milk Tea and Dulce Latte.

Yelp
Pretty awesome place. Parking was a little difficult to find. But if you find parking, it's totally worth it. The service was amazing, the food was great, the price was reasonable, and the ambiance is super chill. I love and would highly recommend the Vietnamese iced coffee and the butter brick toast.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of matcha & was excited to try Dulce after hearing great things from a friend! I ordered an iced blueberry matcha latte with oat milk & a regular matcha latte to save for the next day. Their matcha tastes high quality, as can be expected from how dark green it is! I thought the blueberry matcha tasted more floral than blueberry, and had more of an artificial berry taste to it. Although I didn't have the regular matcha latte cold--you can ask for no ice if you won't be drinking it right away-- I thought it was better. Their matcha lattes pair perfectly with oat milk. They also have other milk alternatives like almond at an extra cost. Since we went on a Sunday, it was pretty busy. The line was long but moves quickly. Our drinks were out within a few minutes also. I would definitely come back to Dulce to get their regular matcha latte, I would just skip the blueberry next time. I want to try it with the cold foam/cream on top next time too!

Yelp
Fortunate to have Cafe Dulce visit our DTLA office premises for 2 1/2 hours as part of the firm's Weekly Wednesday coffee/pastry treats this summer 2024. A variety of caffeine drinks to choose from and a moderate selection of pastries as well. The mocha roti is bomb and hands down favorite of mine as well as the iced Dulce Latte drink! Drink: Iced Dulce Latte 5/5 Matcha Oat Latte 4/5 Pastry: Mocha Roti 5/5 (light, airy & delicious!) Coffee Crumb Donut 3/5 Chocolate Creamy Donut 3/5 Strawberry Jam Donut 2/5 (too sweet for me)

Yelp
I've only ever come here for one thing: their blueberry matcha latte. There's probably other blueberry matcha lattes out there, but theirs is one of the best. It's not too sweet, the matcha not too overpowering and doesn't leave a powdery aftertaste, and the blueberry flavor subtle but perfectly complementing the matcha without overtaking the whole drink. With your choice of dairy/non-dairy base, you really can't go wrong with the blueberry latte! Service is fairly quick, even on a busy day. Ordering is straightforward with one of the workers at the kiosk, and the menu to the point with a variety of pastries, baked goods and coffee drinks for every taste. Plus, there's a good amount of outdoor seating to make for a nice hangout spot with friends. A bonus shout out to them for validating parking if you park in the plaza lot! Will definitely try the pastries one day, but I'll definitely come back for the blueberry matcha latte whenever I'm around here.

Yelp
Café Dulce is a must if you have a sweet tooth! The pastries on display are cute, making it hard to choose just one. Service is always easygoing. I had their matcha, and while it was served through a surprisingly a gallon jug, the taste was still yummy. Dulce go-to place for my matcha needs in the Little Tokyo Plaza. You can do street parking or park in the Plaza, also there are no bathrooms. Also limited seating space indoors.
