Yelp
We had friends in from out of town staying at the JW Marriott in downtown LA and wanted to meet them someplace close to their hotel for Sunday brunch. Online, we found the Cafe Fig, located on the ground floor of the Hotel Figuero, an easy walk from the JW as well as the Ritz Carlton. We were a party of four.
We made reservations for an 11 AM seating, arrived a few minutes early but were seated immediately. We had a choice of three seating areas - one outdoors and two indoors. The few outdoor tables faced the street; the larger of the two indoor areas was pretty standard though with nice spacing between the tables so you could carry on a normal conversation, unlike some eateries in LA where they bunch tables one atop the other. The third seating area consisted of a handful of tables positioned a good distance apart in the open lounge area as you enter the restaurant - with plush, super comfortable chairs and a more intimate atmosphere. We opted for that and it proved to be an excellent choice for a nice, comfortable, quiet location to enjoy our meal and catch up. If one of those tables is available when you arrive or if you are able to choose one upon making your reservation, I would suggest requesting that.
Service was fast, friendly and very attentive, including a floor person (not sure of her title) who made the rounds periodically to make certain everything was okay. Between her and our excellent waitress, we felt very well taken care of.
Brunch is served daily from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Two of us ordered the Veggie Breakfast described on the menu as "Lily's eggs your style, Bub and Grandma's sourdough, roasted tomatoes, portobello mushroom, avocado, spinach, Meridith Goat feta." ($24), one ordered the Avocado Toast described on the menu as "poached lilys eggs, cotjia cheese, cilantro, watermelon radish, chili, salsa, lime" ($20), and the fourth ordered the Classic Breakfast described on the menu as "Lily's eggs your style, Bub and Grandma's sourdough, Beads & Barnetts bacon, roasted tomatoes, potato ($24). Portions were adequate without being excessive and we each enjoyed what we had ordered.
We were very pleased with our choice of Cafe Fig as a place to meet, visit, catch up and enjoy a good meal. If you find yourself in downtown LA looking for something similar, I recommend you check out cafe Fig.
