Cafe Gratitude

The food was terrible, and expensive. We went there because my wife needed gluten-free. I had a raw, cold enchilada smothered in a very spicy sauce, along with a coleslaw that was just NASTY. My wife had a tamale that was stuffed with creamed squash - she said it tasted like baby food. The place was also a tad too touchy-feely for my taste. These people published a book!!??!! We left hungry, and down $30 for the experience.

I'm so torn on this place. Their food is *delicious* (especially their smoothies and shakes), but it is also raw, so it can be very filling, and the huge intake of fiber can, ahem, cleanse your system. Sometimes the feelgood, tree-hugging attitude can get annoying, but generally they are good about not forcing their values on you.

all vegan, friendly attentive staff at berkely location. unbelievably amazing desserts. one staff member quipped that the desserts are so haelthy you could have them for breakfast. make sure to try "a shot of sole`", the amazing salt water provided upon request to give you wonderful minerals. the atmosphere seems hokey at first (well even after awhile), but it's wort it for the food. i find the service prompt at the mission location, moderate at berkeley and sometimes slow in the sunset.

The food was great, the service is most friendly you'll find. I thought it was a bit pricey but I guess quality ingredients are expensive. I felt amazing afterwards which is the goal. Highly recommend if you are looking for a vegan meal.

good vegan dishes and really welcoming / friendly service. But I wish they had an oven with more options for hot food (though the curry lentil soup and tamale provided a couple hot options)

It's very expensive, and not that good. The desserts are particularly bad. It turns out that ground nuts aren't a decent substitute for cooked grains.

Good vegan at reasonably affordable prices. A little bit of an activist atmosphere.
