Cafe Grumpy

located inside of the Whole Foods Market on Madison Ave, this coffee outpost serves a standard coffee menu + some seasonal coffee drinks. stopped in for an Americano while on the go. flavorful coffee served very hot...punched up my day with a needed boost of caffeine. definitely a convenient if your grocery shopping or need some quality coffee within walking distance of Madison Square Park. service was chill and friendly. remember: life begins after coffee!

Despite all the good coffee reviews, I didn’t like the seasonal oat nog latte. It’s too watery, I can’t taste the espresso.

Didn't realize it was inside Whole Foods when we chose to come here. It was fine. Standard cafe menu, everything was quick. Prices slightly on the pricier side but not outrageous. It was fun walking around Whole Foods sipping my Americano. Gets 3 stars because they didn't have any Splenda (or other artificial sweeteners for that matter as they were out), which seems like not a great look for a coffee shop. Can't someone run down the street to one of the many Targets and get some there? Upstairs lots of seating with bathrooms. Seemed like a popular spot for people to sneak into to take advantage of the warmth and plugs.

The coffee taste is like the beans from Ethiopia (👌) Very rich and flavorful coffee.

I know that cafe Grumpy has to live up to its name but yikes. This place is located in the Whole Foods. The counters and coffee area are very clean so there's a plus. The employees are on their phones 100% all the time. I've been here many times and EVERY SINGLE TIME I walk up to the counter I get a some apathetic barista who's mad that I walked up. All I ask for is an espresso and that's it. Nothing complicated. I don't do anything in particular to piss them off...I just walk up and say hello how you doing and can I please have an espresso...I don't see the reason for attitude. One time a barista was sitting down in the corner in her phone and when I walked up she sighed heavily and slammed her phone down and looked at me like 😒 It's like whoaaaa you don't have to work here if you're that pissy maybe try the plant section at Home Depot where you don't have to interact with other humans.

Expensive and only one person in the AM so not good if in a NYC rush

It’s in a Whole Foods, with a large seating area nearby. Service was friendly and prompt. Delicious oat milk latte.
