"This South Lake Union cafe is all about the concept of hygge, so choose Cafe Hagen if you still want to be cozy in the middle of tech territory. Come here for the astroturf patio, lavender oat milk lattes, and stress-free atmosphere made even better by the abundance of plants that you don’t even need to water." - Aimee Rizzo

"The cozy new coffee shop Cafe Hagen, specializing in Scandinavian brews and light snacks, such as salmon toasts and pastries, opened recently in SLU. It wants to bring the Danish concept of hygge to the Seattle area — while the word doesn’t have a direct English translation, it refers to the art of finding comfort. That will come in the form of cups of lattes and espressos for now, as well as brunch, beer, and wine soon. Status: Certified open." - Gabe Guarente

Usually local coffee shops serve espresso w sparkling water or chocolate. The espresso here is very bare minimum. Much better cafes around here for a good shot of espresso at the price of $5+ with tips. + there’s 1 hr limit on the wifi.

Went to this place twice because it was near our hotel. First time we went and got 2 of there specialty coffeess and both were not good. Second day went and just got vanilla latte and 2 breakfast sandwiches as we figured would not be hard to mess up. Latte was over sweet and sandwiches were just ok and ran me $42 for the 2 sandwiches and coffee. Way over priced.

What an adorable little coffee spot! ☕️ The ambience is really fantastic 👌 I love the decor and vibes of this spot. Had a latte and a pastry. So delicious 😋 The staff was really kind and friendly. Can't wait to come back!

This place is very cute and quality of coffee and pastries is pretty good! I got the iced kobenhaven latte and a pear danish. Both were very good!

Good coffee and espresso-based drinks. Quick and efficient service! Their blueberry danish is excellent -- get one of those. I love their stylish interior design, cozy and elegant. The only bad thing is they don't have a restroom.

The ambience is modern and masculine with elements of warmth in the brown leather seats and many plants on the walls. A chill vibe and they were even playing some of my favorite indie music. The baristas were friendly, professional, and they even delivered my order to my table rather than just calling it out. I tried the breakfast bun with egg, havarti, and arugula. The cheese is a prominent flavor but not overwhelming and bun was light and airy. I love anything with arugula but I would have liked to taste the egg more. I had an 8oz decaf cappuccino with whole milk; the mouth feel was smooth and silky and they did better latte art than I can do. They had a large and unique pastry selection; I tried the kouign amann and though I can’t pronounce it, it was simply scrumptious. Similar to a croissant but with denser, sweeter layers of lighter and more moist pastry with some crispy edges of caramelized sugar. I love to pull things apart with my fingers and this is a perfect pastry for that, though my fingers did end up deliciously sticky. And it was big enough that I saved some for later. I would come back and I’m looking forward to trying more of their pastries.

I stop by here a few times a week and it’s always been excellent service. They always have a few seasonal coffees offered, which is what I usually order. The seasonals tend to be a sweeter style, but I can tell the base coffee they use is also solid.

This new coffee shop just opened on 10/31/23. Coffee and pastries are delicious. Service is super friendly and the atmosphere was low key with nice lighting and music at a lower volume. I’m excited to have this new coffee shop in the area.
