Hearty breakfast and lunch fare served up in a vibrant French-Lebanese venue with a heated patio.
"Open daily from 8 a.m., Cafe La Maude is a legendary destination that brings the energy of a Parisian hideaway to Northern Liberties. It showcases a beloved menu of French and Lebanese-influenced dishes. The cafe doesn’t take reservations, but shakshuka and red velvet tiramisu pancakes are worth any wait." - Maddy Sweitzer-Lamme, Eater Staff
"Café La Maude in Northern Liberties is one of the best places to spend a morning in Philly. This French-Lebanese BYOB serves everything from lemon ricotta pancakes topped with poached apples and caramel sauce to brisket huevos rancheros, and they do it seven days a week. On the weekend, you’ll likely spend at least 45 minutes waiting for a table, so come on a random Wednesday when you’re supposed to be at a “doctor's appointment” to avoid the lines." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"Whether you’re on team dessert for breakfast or lean strictly savory, you’ll like brunch at Cafe La Maude. The French-Lebanese NoLibs restaurant serves fragrant red shakshuka and stacks of brioche pain perdu, not to mention a number of salads and sandwiches. Weekend mornings at the bistro border on chaos, so be prepared for a lengthy wait, or save Cafe La Maude for a weekday when it’s quieter. Almost nothing tastes as good as red velvet tiramisu pancakes when you’re supposed to be at work. photo credit: Cafe La Maude Food Rundown photo credit: Cafe La Maude Foul Moudamas Cafe La Maude makes their own hummus, and serves it with a funky, nutty fava bean stew and scrambled eggs. The warm za’atar pita is delicious, so ditch your fork and use the bread to scoop. photo credit: Cafe La Maude Berrylicious Pain Perdu Buttery brioche is stuffed with your choice of mascarpone or nutella–we’re partial to the cheese–and topped with berries, caramelized bananas, and a tangy passion fruit sauce. It may be embarrassing to order, but damn if it isn't delicious. Red Velvet Tiramisu Pancakes These pancakes are obscene. Thick layers of mascarpone get spread between fluffy, ruby red pancakes, then drenched with whipped cream and crumbly ladyfinger cookies. Do the right thing and put in an order for the table." - Alison B. Kessler
"Brunch That's Not Just Eggs And Toast This Northern Liberties cafe is cramped enough that you may bump elbows with a stranger on a busy Saturday, and we love it. Their rotation of French-Lebanese dishes like spicy shakshuka and sugary baklawa pancakes is always worth getting out of bed. The main difference between Cafe La Maude and Parc is that this restaurant closes at 4pm, so it doesn’t work for dinner or martinis. But it's still an excellent choice when you want to get to know someone over eggs and screen them for liking hairless cats. " - candis mclean
"Popular is an understatement when it comes to Café La Maude, with crowds flocking here all week long to get a taste of its menu full of breakfast and lunch dishes. Its short rib benedict is superb, made with pulled short rib that has been sautéed with peppers, onions, and mushrooms, and topped with two poached eggs, avocado sauce, truffle oil, and hollandaise." - George Banks-Weston
