Cafe La Vie Review - Hayes Valley - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"A great lox bagel, great egg sandwiches, and some actually reasonable prices for food keep us coming back to Cafe La Vie in Hayes Valley. There’s not a ton of seating, so get your breakfast to go." - Taylor Abrams

Charming neighborhood cafe with artsy ambiance. Reasonable breakfast bagels and great staff.

Chill atmosphere, animal friendly. Great year round, but also a great place to grab some shade on a hot summer day, with the nice trees out front. Coffee is fine, but that also depends on who’s making it. The owner and main barista is absolutely the cutest!

I think this cafe has better coffee than the cafe across the street, just saying! The lady who usually works there is super nice and funny. One thing I love about this cafe is they sell vegan cookies! They have the biggest selection of vegan cookies I have seen! If you're looking for something yummy to try, try their sea salt nutella late. You will not be disappointed.

Always wonderful staff/baristas and good coffee too... not weak, but not too strong either (though you can order shots of espresso if you like it strong!) Not too much seating inside, and there's inevitably some schmuck taking up the 8 person table in the back with their laptop. Nice, large bench seating outside that wrap around the old trees in this neighborhood. Bagel sandwiches ahr ta die fahr!! Oh, and the bathroom is covered in blackboard with chalk available... Always wonderful messages left by guests :)

Great neighborhood joint, small and off the main road. Great for studying and nicest baristas! On nice days they roll up the garage door style street face - combined with light music and Internet - makes this a great study spot. The setback... The garlic/onion smell (bagels) is making me dizzy, even with half my head out the window. The flies inside like it though. 😬

Found this place as we were looking for a coffee shop to work from for a few hours on a Friday. Free wifi, available outlets, laid back space. Large open windows made us feel like we were sitting outside & rich scents from the African store next door plus interesting characters passing by added to the experience. Chuck Berry tunes lifted up the mood.

Only place I've seen serve $2 black coffees around. But I got the London Fog which now my favorite way to order tea. Nice little spot with WiFi and outlets as well. Would go by again.
