There’s also a more brunch-focused package ($85) that highlights shakshuka. Shakshuka Bonanza Is Coming to Cleveland Circle With Another Cafe Landwer Location - Eater Boston

"Israeli chain Cafe Landwer is set to expand its Boston presence with a new location opening in Cleveland Circle in the coming weeks. The spot for coffee, breakfast, and more made its entry into the United States with its Audubon Circle location, an 80-seater which opened last winter. That was only the chain’s second foray outside its home country — it opened a single location in Toronto, Canada, in early 2017. The new Boston locale is to be at 383 Chestnut Hill Ave., just a moment from the Cleveland Circle and Reservoir MBTA stops. In a Facebook comment just a few days ago, the chain said that it’s expecting to open in mid-July (it had initially been slated for April.) Cafe Landwer is known for its shakshuka dishes with variations including feta, haloumi, and more, all in spiced tomato sauce, alongside various other eggy dishes. But outside of the breakfast realm, there’s a substantial menu that includes mostly Mediterranean-leaning salads, sandwiches, and mezzes, and a handful of pizza and pasta options. The Audubon Circle location also serves alcohol — no word yet on whether the upcoming second location will do the same." - Tim Forster

Google
Good place overall. The coffee and pastries are good. The hummus is tasty but the quantity is very small. The chicken schnitzel was dry. Most of the salads are delicious. There's a strange balcony seating policy. We visited twice on Sundays at noon when the place was full, and we had to wait outside. There's a nice balcony with about 10 tables, but the staff wouldn't let us wait or sit there. The second time, after about a 40-minute wait outside, the balcony was opened for seating only minutes after the owner showed up!

Our breakfast was fantastic, and it's all thanks to Sandra Catalina E.! She really helped us navigate the menu, making sure we found exactly what we were looking for. It was so nice to have someone take the time to explain everything, and we ended up with the perfect meal. Really appreciate the extra effort!😊

My most recent visit was horrible. Employees were rude, harsh, and blatantly disrespectful. Cafe Landwer used to be a great restaurant with friendly staff. Now all the employees are teenage girls to women in their 20s who still act like teenagers. Upon entering, I was not greeted by a host and had to ask for a table. The hostess at the front asked, “Is bar seating ok?” in the most monotone manner, and pointed to the furthest left side of the restaurant. I said “Yeah, sure sounds great”. It was freezing at this area and when my food came out, it got cold in 5 minutes. We also were right next to the open-air refrigerator. I had to eat with my puffer jacket on. There’s such limited space at the bar that I dropped my pita (extremely small portion of about 4 nacho-sized chips) and picked everything up respectfully and placed it on the plate that dropped. I apologized respectfully asked for another plate of pita and the waitress seemed annoyed by my request. Then, after eating for 5 minutes, I was handed the bill. The waitress did not indicate she gave me the bill, neither did she say, “Take your time.” Or anything of that manner. She just gave me a stern look. When I paid, the waitress looked down at the screen to tip and glared at me, as if I wasn’t going to tip? Most people look away during this time, or at least say something to me. The waitresses and hostesses barely said anything to me at all. They all seemed incredibly unprofessional. This is for the teenage hostess with brown hair, glasses, pale skin, and the waitress with tan skin, glasses, and dark brown hair with orangey-blonde ombré/ highlights. Every other staff member I’ve enjoyed, every waiter I’ve had I’ve enjoyed and were kind to. The food was also $27 for a measly kids’ size meal. Cafe Landwer has gone down. Needs to train staff better or fire some people.

We had been to Beacon street branch several times and just visited this location and as we expected everything was great! Great cozy spot, cute design and excellent service. Highly recommended to try!

The food was amazing! I was surprised how many delicious vegan options they have. Camilo was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Really made the meal even better. I'll definitely be back.

Google
Terribly slow service. So many people working, but it seems like only one or two people are able to put in effort. It took one worker, who seemed in control, to tell her coworkers to bus tables. The food was serviceable. The chicken shawarma was dry, even with the little sauce they provided. I’m happy we ordered hummus as a shareable(that came out with our mains) so my dish wasn’t so dry. I’d probably come again despite the slow service.

Google
I love Cafe Landwer for brunch. I've been here many times and the middle eastern breakfast specials are outrageously good. I tried the vegan breakfast special on my most recent trip and it was out of this world. And the quantity of food was really impressive. Good coffee also.

Google
I absolutely LOVE Landwer Cafe. The food is always delicious and so are the drinks. I visited this past weekend because I was craving the pancakes. I suggest making a reservation if you go on the weekend because there will be a wait. Unfortunately the service wasn’t all that. We waited a very long time for our check, over 30 maybe 40 minutes. After we received our food no one even asked if we needed anything. It was a little frustrating. I hate that I had that expierence. FYI There is a small parking lot next to the restaraunt and you have to pay the meter.

Yelp
Such good coffee and salads. I also loved the breakfast. Great service too. We were seated immediately

Yelp
Where do I begin? 1. We ordered drinks and one of our party had a question about his choice. A few minutes later, someone came over - it turned out to be the manager - to resolve the question. When that was done, she asked what the rest of us were having - none of our drink orders had been sent in. 2. The first of our two appetizers came. Just one problem: we had never been served appetizer plates. We had to flag someone down to get them, by which time the appetizer was cold. 3. Before the second appetizer came, a server started delivering dinner. He didn't know where to put things down because - surprise - we still had our appetizer plates. We said we were still eating our appetizer course, but he just shrugged and stuffed the plates on the table. 4. Now the second appetizer came (!). It was a shared hot dish, but came with no serving utensils. At that point, we all had used our dinner utensils, so we had to flag down another server to get serving spoons. 5. No one checked on us during dinner to see if we needed more water, wanted another drink, etc. 6. Finally, we sat waiting for ten minutes or so after all the plates had been cleared to get a bill. Yikes. To be fair, my companions thought their food was good. (My salmon was an overcooked slab of fish.) These are all management issues: * You train the waitstaff to get drink orders in as quickly as possible (not just to make the customers happy, but because they're you high margin items, so you want to get multiple turns, if possible). * You make sure the servers have appetizer plates on the table *before* the appetizers are served. * You *always* serve shared appetizers with serving utensils. * You time the dinners to come *after* the appetizers have been eaten and the appetizer dishes have been cleared. (If you're one of those haughty-faulutin' restaurants that serves food as soon as it's ready, put that in big letters on your menu.) * You have the waitstaff keep eyes on their tables to see if anyone needs anything and you check, shortly after courses have been served, to make sure everything is okay. (Even in no one indicates that they need anything, you still check on the table once or twice during their dinner.) * Some people differ on this, but I like the server to check on whether the customers want desserts or the check *immediately* after the dinner dishes have been cleared. (You can say to the customers "Here's your check, but no hurry.") It was pretty frustrating for my group of friends and 90% of the issues were avoidable with good training for the waitstaff and the kitchen. (For what it's worth, my parents owned a small restaurant/deli, so this isn't all coming out of the blue.)

Yelp
After just visiting their Beacon St. location, I decided to come try this location out to see how consistent their quality was. I was SO excited to order pancakes only to be told they were sold out :( Such a bummer. Regardless the staff was friendly and the ambiance was lively making it a great visit nonetheless. Will be returning soon with my pancake hankering... I tried the Italian French Vanilla Latte and it was great! Not too sweet.

Yelp
The food here was as good as the service was bad. And the food was very good. The restaurant has a really cool vibe with a bunch of old timer decorations. It's like you're going back in time to go to a Jewish diner, which is a pretty cool experience. The actual food is delicious: I never order the salmon when I eat out because it's usually not good, but I think the salmon here is worth trying. I also thought the pita bread was very fluffy and I was quite happy with the selection of fairly healthy dishes. Jesse, the host, was very friendly and nice. I also thought the wait staff were nice as well, but there did not appear to be any real accountability or responsibility as to who was covering which table. We never had a waiter, introduce himself or herself to us, so it was a very infuriating game of flagging people down to place orders, ask for additional utensils, ask for plates, order, dessert, etc. I think some active management / training would really benefit this place because the decor is great and the food is great too.

Yelp
Loved the delicious chicken skewers, beef & lamb skewers, hummus, and smashed potatoes. Will definitely come back! Food was 5 stars but took a long time for it to come out.

Yelp
" Super friendly and welcoming staff " Before you get to the food you must be attended . The staff here , is super friendly. They go above and beyond. To make sure you feel good and have everything you need even before ordering. The vibe is warm and welcoming. The food is fresh and delicious. It is a bit pricey so bring your wallet . Parking is difficult but manageable. It's also located in front of " river way " last stop on green line incase I spelled it wrong.

Yelp
A lovely space to dine. The menu allows for multiple dietary restriction options. During our time at a nearby hotel we had multiple meals in a short time. If I'm the area Cafe Landwer is a great option. The staff is friendly and provided a great dining experience. Order the halloumi as a starter. The fried cheese is perfect. We received complimentary bread and oil. Paired with the starter and the generous portions it can be a heavy meal. So come hungry or be prepared to take some with you.

Yelp
I have thought it was just a coffee place but it is was a full blown restaurant. It was bright with outdoor seating. The hostess seated us. I saw it across the street from Duncan Donuts and now realize that is trying to draw a different clientele than someone just looking for a cup of coffee. The first thing that me were the prices. Ouch. Pricey. It is a good thing I brought my credit card. They have no ice coffee . Just cold brew. That is where an iced latte comes in handy. But they do have steel oats if you are willing to pay for it: 12.00. That is why they take credit cards. I have to say this place is first class with the finishings, just the way it is decorated. I can understand why this place filled right up. With all the seating, I was still lucky to get a seat. They fed me like a king. I had a vegan omelet, Chopped tomato and cucumber, humus, guacamole, yogurt and tomato puree. As it turns out, I was too full for the tomato puree. It tasted like homemade yogurt with blueberries and oats. They asked before they took away my plates. So they should because I was not quite finished. I did have trouble getting the attention of anybody but my waitress. They must not pool tips. I am going to have to come back to try some of the other items on the menu. I wonder what other surprises they have. I would certainly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a first class breakfast.

Yelp
Came here a few times while visiting our kiddo in the area. Very inviting airy cafe with a great looking menu & friendly servers. Like a family cafe vs a chain! I got the Halloumi & egg breakfast sandwich, twice because it just was so tasty!

Yelp
One of the only places open in the area on July 4. Breakfast was unique and amazing. Orange juice tastes freshly squeezed. I left feeling very full.

Yelp
Close to Boston College and a good place to grab a bite. The staff is always nice and coffee blend is tasty.

Yelp
Unexpectedly good. Looks can be deceiving and most of the reviews for this spot are for the coffee and breakfast but while staying at the AC next door I was in the search for dinner. It was freezing out so I didn't want to wander far and noticed this place was open for dinner too. Glad I took the plunge. With a middle eastern/ Israeli vibe the dishes all sounded great. I would have been happy with just the bread and oil they give you to start, it was incredible. From there I jumped to hummus and pita (also homemade and awesome) then to lamb chops with grilled veggies and rice. Everything was cooked perfectly and the portions are huge. Ended with a Turkish coffee because why not. Service was friendly. Disappointed I won't be around late enough tomorrow morning for breakfast otherwise I'd gladly come back. Next time..

Yelp
Great lunch today with family at the Cafe Landwer. Great location, service, atmosphere, and mostly the great food. The table had loads of different foods to try and the prices were great. Easily able to recommend for lunch dates or large families. I'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Very good food and excellent coffee! Nice spacious atmosphere. Service was subpar as of course the place was busy, probably understaffed, etc. but I don't feel like you should have to flag down somebody, anybody, who works there to ask for something. I am polite. I wait. I know wait staff can be busy and have other tables. You don't need to kiss my feet ( but a free nice foot manicure never hurt) ,but if you come around to check in on our meals, it makes the meal experience more memorable and have people wanting to come back and spend more money at your place.

Yelp
Had the chocolate sensation for $10 it's a chocolate fudge cake but tasted more like a brownie which i loved. Had a decent amount of ice cream and whip cream. Service and staff were nice and quick. We had eaten lunch elsewhere but wanted desert so we saw this place in passing and went it. When we came inside we got seated instantly which was nice. It did smell a tiny bit like sea water or like wet wood? A tiny bit off putting but other than that good experience! The decor and layout was a bit out of date and seemed older styled like a diner almost but overall the desert being delicious masked these tiny critiques.

Yelp
Falafel was quite good but the almond croissant is not what it should be, it was just a plain one filled with cream cheese.
google avatar

Sophia G.

Yelp
Service was pretty good, they let my friends and I do some work there, not pressuring us to leave (they weren't too busy either way). This cheesecake was awesome! Creamy and the berries cut the sweetness. Coffee was just okay.

Yelp
Amazing food, tasty and lightweight. Have to come back for the fall flavored items. Had the landwer breakfast and everything was superb. The sweet cube was new to me, already forget what it was called but a great little dessert. The coffee was also delicious. Great brunch spot.

Yelp
We stayed at the AC Marriott next door and ate breakfast here every day. We loved everything we had: eggs Benedict, with perfect crunchy potatoes, breakfast sandwiches, pumpkin waffles, and yummy, fresh-squeezed juices. We got some pita, matbucha, and hummus to eat on the road and we gobbled it up, it was so delicious! Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Such a great brunch spot! Very cute interior, large menu. Mediterranean dishes like shawarma, hummus, shakshuka, and more. They have dinner as well. Food comes fast. Make a reservation because it does get crowded! Employees are friendly.

Yelp
Come through the red door and enter a really cute restaurant that brings you back to a cafe in europe early 1900s. Love that their menu features items on no other menus. Food was excellent, service was attentive ! Place has lots of character. All good!

Yelp
Our favorite brunch spot in Boston! Great shakshukas, breakfast, platters, drinks, and desserts. Used to live near the one at Cleveland Circle. It was great to go there on weekends, now we have to drive back into the city to go when we can.

Yelp
We're from California and were visited family in Boston. They recommended this place for a good breakfast. I agree, it is amazing.

Yelp
At this point I'm convinced Cafe Landwer and I are soulmates. If I could marry a place, it would be this restaurant. To be more realistic (and to put it in Yelp terms), I'd give this place infinity stars if I could. I've been here numerous times and have never had a poor visit. The service is great, and the food is amazing! My favorite menu item at the moment is the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich. The chicken is so tasty, and the pita is incredibly warm and delicious. I also really like the honey mustard dressing. I always get it with an order of their fries. A bit pricy, but so incredibly worth it. A few honorable mentions include the original chicken schnitzel, chicken shawarma, and shakshuka. Also tasty coffee! I tried their Nutella Latte, which was great. Would highly recommend their hot mocha (it takes the top spot) it is truly the best mocha I have ever had! Thank you Cafe Landwer, see you very soon!

Yelp
Food: French Vanilla (Oat) Latte was really good! I don't usually get coffee out so this was a nice warm treat on a cold Boston morning. Squeezed a lil bit of honey in the side and it was very nice and nourishing. Service: Lots of workers on a Wednesday morning who were really knowledgeable about the menu. Coffee was also fast which was appreciated! Ambiance: Store is really bright, well-lit, and has a cute interior! I definitely would come back for brunch. Their food looked amazing.

Yelp
Best place in Cleveland circle to grab a bite, enjoy a coffee or schedule a business-lunch/brunch. They are flexible to an extreme, the food is delicious, the service is excellent...definitely try their cafe Landver tea and their date shake. Their shakshukas are so yummy, they manage to do gluten free, and I never react, a great place with a comfortable atmosphere! I often spring an additional five humans on them after I arrive, they never bat an eyelash. Separate bills, still they don't bat an eyelash! They are amazing!

Yelp
We could not be more pleased with our experience at Cafe Landwer. We tried the Landwer's Famous Breakfast and Sinia Shakshuka with the Turkish Coffee. We literally could not put our silverware down! The shakshuka was delicious, with the eggs poached to a perfect runny yolk. The LFB lived up to the hype. The baba ganoush, hummus, and guac were fresh and addictive, while the parfait had the perfect sweet touch to wrap up the meal. The little pistachio treat was an unexpected, but welcomed, surprise. Our only complaint was the portions were so large, we outgrew our table!
google avatar

Linda G.

Yelp
This is a cool place, but I was not overwhelmed with the food. Started with fried halloumi sticks, which were good. I would only want one, and the serving had about 6 I think. In my party, someone got the fake meat kabobs. I didn't try it. They said it was good but it looked weird to me. I got the chicken schnitzel sandwich. It was fine. The size of the chicken was smaller than the bread which I didn't like and it was pounded quite thin. It was cooked perfectly. I got it because waiter said it was one of the most popular items on the menu. I often order what is recommended. This wasn't a great choice for me. Ambiance was wonderful. It is bustling place, busy, lots of family with little kids there, too.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Authentic Mediterranean style dishes. We enjoyed it. Large food portions as well.

Yelp
We went to taste the limited time pink brunch and it was fantastic. The pink menu beautiful and tasty especially the rosalach. The normal menu is also fantastic well priced and authentic. There are many different drinks and offerings. The eggs Benedict was delicious and filling and the potatoes were crispy. The staff is friendly. The outside seating is a little crammed but still wonderful.

Yelp
Pandemic Experiences 2020-2021 Cafe Landwer is located in Cleveland Circle where the movie theater used to be.  Or was it the Applebee's? Well either way, folks familiar with the area would understand what I'm talking about. This is the second location of the chain in the area, with the first being Brookline. Both are T accessible along the C line. They make it easy to place an order online, though they do require a phone number that takes texts in addition to an email address. The delivery charge is waived for orders $50 or more.  But you can also order takeout, with curbside being a valid option. By curbside, they mean the alleyway between them and Sushi Momento, or the drive in towards the hotel (AC Hotels Marriott), which is marked by a traffic light. Note, you can't make any changes on their online ordering system once you've confirmed and paid. It was my first time patronizing Cafe Landwer, so I decided to try one of their shakshukas (the one with halloumi $15, which comes with tahini, l seeabne, a choice of bread (multigrain) and a side (green vegetables)) and added an order of their sweet potato fries for $4. Since it was to go, I ordered the eggs hard. Everything was packed into a separate container (though the bread was in a white paper bag) and tucked into a nice tote with their logo on it. I wish the containers were reusable. However, for eating on the go, something more tossable (as these were) would be preferred. The loaf was a generous portion, great for dipping into the spiced tomato sauce. The halloumi cheese was firm and savory, though a bit soggy on the outside. The fries were soft and room temp by the time I got it home, so I tossed it into the toaster oven for a bit. The best part of the meal was the green vegetables, with a good portion of firm string beans, good sized broccoli florets, and garlicky spinach having been sauteed together in garlic oil. On my next visit, I ordered the smoked eggplant $9 which came in the same size container as that of one of their side dishes, and was accompanied by one round of fluffy pita, and a half portion of their Nutella rosalach $6. The eggplant spread was cool in temperature and the smokiness was quite evident. The honey was a nice touch. The Nutella rosalach pastry came 10 pieces to the order, and was delicious, because Nutella. But the pastry had been rolled so thin that it has a rather chewy consistency, and it had been overbaked and was burnt on the bottom. It ought not to have been served, but the manager took care of me when I let her know this, so I felt that they took responsibility for their product. *** Cafe Landwer has a Kid's Menu with several kid friendly entrees (pasta, chicken tenders, cheese pizza (gluten free available), mini hamburgers, and mac & cheese) for under $10, accompanied by freshly cut vegetables (carrots, cucumber, mini tomatoes), and (for the less carby options) a side of fries. Since they no longer have marshmallows, I suggested that they update the photos on their online ordering system to reflect this. The chicken tenders were rather thin, planklike pieces, and were white meat, so I was surprised that they were not too dry. We were pleased that a swap of the fries for a side of green vegetables was allowed without a change in price. The veggie sticks looked fresh enough, however there were only 4 pieces each of the carrots and cucumber. This was much fewer than was pictured on the menu, but I'm sure would please their kiddie diners much more than the parents. On another visit, their kids menu halloumi sticks were 6 floppy planks to the order with a generous portion of marinara sauce (of which much was used to cut the saltiness of the cheese), but it was unfortunately missing the veggie sticks (which would had also helped to tame the saltiness). When I called to inquire, apologies were said, and I let it go at that since I wasn't about to head back in the rain. *** A side order of their falafel were $4 for 4 crusty little balls of flavor. Crispy brown on the outside, vibrant green within. They were pretty good on their own, even without a side of hummus for dipping. From their breakfast menu (which lingers into the afternoon), Breakfast Waffle $10 blueberry strawberry banana maple syrup whipped cream. These Belgian style waffles were 3 vanilla scented crisp airy pastries. The menu on their website has changed up some, with the price of most of their sides going up 50 cents to $4.50 *** The Oreo rosalach pastry arrived 12 pieces to the full order (math not working here). It wasn't burnt, but rather it was under baked - the center bit of dough was gooey. I guess they don't give their staff authority to make things up to the customer, cause she nicely offered to tell the kitchen, but a manager would have to handle anything else. Otherwise, it was tasty and not too sweet. (Additional info - Oreo rosalach are larger, so fewer.) *** News - green vegetables were sadly retired late 2021.

Yelp
Such an awesome place, good vibes. AMAZING FOOD! By the way we had also the fillet mignon, but it was so good - we ate to fast, so no photo haha The service was really fast too. To some up; the best place for breakfast and lunch, has now the best dinner menu too

Yelp
Café Landwer is an Israeli run and Mediterranean style establishment having roots in pre-war Berlin and named after the owner, Moshe Landwer. In addition to the 80 locations across Israel, there are three in Massachusetts, one in California, and four in Canada. The feel of the restaurant is a classy, but casual French-European café style. Their menu is fairly extensive and has a variety of both Mediterranean-European style dishes such as their Falafel Hummus Bowl and Landwer's Famous Schnitzel as well as more American type dishes such as their Corned Beef Sandwich and their Chicken & Pesto Pasta. We arrived about 10:45 on a Monday for brunch. The hostess asked us if we had a reservation, but seated us immediately despite the fact that we did not. They were fairly busy, but we were shocked that we would need a reservation for this time of day and day of the week. We got the Mediterranean Breakfast, sides of scrambled eggs and turkey bacon, a Mocha, and a regular brewed coffee. Their set breakfast is very big and was beautifully presented. We substituted Hallah for the bread choice. Many people think that eggs are pretty standard, but the quality varies and it is rare to get scrambled eggs that taste really good. Landwer's scrambled eggs were just ok. We forgot to ask for the turkey bacon crisp and it was also just ok--given the quality of the turkey bacon, it probably would have been pretty good crispy. The Mocha was actually really good. It tasted more like a light hot chocolate, not too sweet, than a coffee. Their brewed standard coffee was just ok. The flavor was good, but was a little bitter. If not for the bitterness, it would have been an excellent cup of coffee. We were expecting a little more from the coffee given that Landwer started as a coffee house and ran as merely a coffee factory for a period of time in the chain's history. Our server was polite, but not that attentive and forgot some of our requests throughout the meal. He was also difficult to flag down for the check at the end of the meal. He was somewhat busy, but not enough to justify the level of service. Still, he was very nice when we had his attention. If you check the other reviews, most of the complaints are for mistakes and problems with takeout orders. Additionally, even in most of the good reviews, people had to wait for a table. Consequently, your best bet might be to dine-in and consider making a reservation even if you think it is not necessary for the day and time you plan to visit here. There is street parking in the area. Some days and hours are free (check the meters and posted signs). At other times, download the "Passport" parking app and get the zone and space number from the meter for the easiest payment method. There is also a metered lot down the street at the nearest intersection. If you get there before 10:45, there is the best chance to get a spot in the lot. Overall and given the mixed quality of our experience, the four-star Yelp average is about right for this place. We would go back here again, but might try some different dishes and perhaps the more Mediterranean style ones the restaurant is probably known for in the future.

Yelp
This place is great, but I went for lunch today and the waiter decided to put me down for a 20% tip without asking or indicating he would do so. I would have anyways, but make sure you get the receipt from them as he ignored me when I tried to get his attention afterwards and I had to ask the hostess for a copy of the receipt explaining the discrepancy between the amount I was quoted and the amount I was charged.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I love Landwer and it has been a long time since I've made it to one. Last night we met friends we had not seen in years for a reunion The service was awful. We felt like we were under a cloak of invisibility. Staff looked past us constantly and even as we tried to get someone's attention it was as if we were not there The food was, as expected, tasty. And once we were able to flag someone down to order it came in a reasonable Amount of time. The dishes were then ignored for over an hour even as we tried to get someone's attention to clear. The coffee ordered by a member of our party took over 20 minutes to come. We decided to order a dessert and then had to ask three more times if it was going to come. I'm going to write it off to a bad night and maybe short-handed staff. Even the manager seemed unhappy but demeanor could have been nicer and more apologetic to us. Luckily we were in no rush but not a good night at Landwer

Yelp
Such a cute brunch spot and great service! The hostess asks you if you have any allergies when you sit down, which I always appreciate for those who do have them. They bring you a lot of food for an affordable price (especially when it comes to boston brunch). Be sure to add a reservation in advance as Sunday mornings can be pretty busy. They have awesome shakshuka, and I love that this location gives the best fluffy soufflé pancakes! I recommend the pancakes and original shakshuka! Maybe my new favorite brunch spot in Brighton. I'm glad they're opening another one downtown, but the others don't make pancakes like here!

Yelp
Food was nasty, service apathetic, didn't serve any drinks with ice and when we asked for it, server was bothered. Short rib was HORRIBLE, Chicken "tenders" were a whole fried chicken breast pounded thin and cut up leading to leather-dry food. Just nasty.

Yelp
The service was good. they were pretty fast with the food. I ordered the chicken shawarma. The rice was delicious but the chicken was cut unevenly and in big chucks. In the end I will come back for more delicious food.

Yelp
The second I walked into this establishment, I knew the meal would be great and waiting about 15-20 minutes for a table was absolutely worth it. The decor is unique, and modern, especially for a restaurant that dishes out Levantine food. The tables are spaced out nicely and the menu is extensive. Marina, our waitress, was great. We ordered from the kids menu as well as the regular menu and loved everything we had. The roasted eggplant & tahini ($10) was absolutely awesome and featured an entire eggplant cooked in an iron skillet with some tahini drizzled on top and some pita bread. Simple but perfectly executed, it was terrific in every way. The Jerusalem lentil soup ($10) felt a tad expensive and came very under seasoned but was tasty once I added a touch of salt. It was pretty good and was on the healthy but very flavorful side of things. The hummus bowl with falafel ($16) was awesome and tasted incredibly fresh. It featured four falafel balls - which could very well be the best I've had - and it was awesome for sharing. It also came with two pitas. Lastly, we also ordered the famous chicken schnitzel ($19) which was pretty good. Pounded incredibly thin, it was crispy and tasty. The fries that came with it were excellent. Overall it was a delightful experience all around and we can't wait to return. I totally understand why this internal chain started in Germany (and later rebooted in Tel Aviv) is successful and thriving. The food is super fresh, there's a ton of options, and execution all around is terrific. So wether you're looking to get coffee, a salad, some shakshuka, some shawarma, and many other things in between including eggs Benedict or pancakes, this place has you covered.

Yelp
Finally came here for beunch my daughter's 21st birthday celebration. They did a really good job on the eggs Benedicts I had mine with salmon and it was delicious. Portions of this decent they come up with these huge home fries. I loved my matcha latte which was humongous and it's a size of a soup bowl. It is a very popular place for residents and students nearby and you definitely need a reservation in advance. Highly recommend for a bright happy environment. They sang a nice rendition of Happy Birthday for my daughter.

Yelp
Completely unacceptable. Landwer automatically writes in a tip at the end of service. They add it to your bill. Dont believe me? go to their website right now and do a pickup order. They put it under service tip. You cant force people to pay a tip, Its optional. I always do however tip but automatically adding it to a receipt is ridiculous. What if we end up with really bad service if a waitress is having a bad day? We still have to auto tip 3.50 for 20 bucks even if they dont deserve it? No, i would give ANY restaurant a bad review for forcing tips. (There is no way to take it off)

Yelp
Slightly dressed up diner food, with a Mediterranean-centered menu that covers all the basics and all the preferences (including a whole section devoted to vegan dishes). The times I've come here, the dishes have erred on the salty side and I usually have to pound a few glasses of water at home. I probably wouldn't wait in line for Cafe Landwer but the location is super convenient and situated right next to the picturesque Chestnut Hill Reservoir. A note on parking: yes, they have a parking lot out front but between people eating here, the baseball field, and the reservoir, I've never seen a spot open up when I needed one. I usually try my luck on the street-side parking along both the reservoir which tends to be packed on the weekends but I haven't had issues finding something after a few rounds of circling. On to the food: Baba ganoush: love the drizzle of tahini on top without anything overwhelming the actual taste of eggplant. Came with a side of fluffy pita. Best thing I've ordered here. Haloumi salad: was envisioning something besides deep fried chunks of haloumi cheese. And I know I'm nit-picking here but the bell peppers were cut length-wise rather than in smaller chunks, which made it hard to eat without a spear of pepper poking out of the corner of your mouth. Dressing was also extremely sour, way too heavy on the lemon, to the point where the last few bites soaking in the dressing at the bottom were inedible. Kebab: Well-seasoned mix of lamb and beef. I liked the texture (reminded me of the fish balls for hot pot). Food came out quickly, and though our waiter came by to check on us, some smaller things were missed, like the hot water I ordered at the start (maybe places just hate doling out hot water), utensils, and small plates for the baba ganoush. All in all, not bad. If I'm ever in the mood for pancakes and breakfast potatoes, I know where to go.

Yelp
My friend and I dropped by this Israeli cafe in Cleveland circle. The cafe has a nice little outdoor patio and they also have a QR code for you to scan to see the menu so you can order online. We ordered multigrain bread and falafel for appetizers. The multigrain bread was still hot from the oven. It was very fresh. The falafel was still crunchy and had a good amount of spices. For my entree, I got the roasted mushrooms and cream pasta with fettucine. It came with a bit of truffle oil. It was pretty good although I wish the sauce was a little bit thicker and creamier.

Yelp
Remarkably good! People here are great. Food and drinks are exceptional every time. Fresh squeezed OJ is so so good. But really, the unique and extra pleasant/special staff is what makes this place over the top good. Highly highly recommend.

Yelp
On a better day I'd give 4-5 stars as the food is an A but the service was 1-2 star. The upside is our waiter was polite and admitted he was brand new. When we arrived our hostess told us there is a 25 min but it wound up being only 5 as there was a lot of open tables. Not too busy but after we sat down in about 20 min it got very busy. I finished my shakshouka before my son got his pancakes. He was fine about the wait because they were delicious. I had to ask for plain coffee because still no drinks were served before my entree. The shakshouka didn't disappoint but I think it sat out probably because they were waiting for the whole order. They need to do better because the waiter was busier bussing the table than actual serving.

Yelp
Awesome shakshouka. It is so perfect with bread when youre sick. I loved eating in the patio or just walking home with it to go. I love the patio furniture and this specific location just for its views of the city through Fenway. No parking as usual. Off st. Marys line!

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday afternoon for some pancakes with a friend and I left inspired to come back again and again. First off parking was EASY as there is a lot literally right next door. You do have to feed the meter but there weren't many cars there. I'm going to nitpick here, but they say us down at a pretty small table for two. There were two of us, but they did ask if we're dining and it was a pretty small table to fit dishes on comfortably. It was better suited for drinks or solo dining. We ate outside and there was ample seating (maybe 25 to 30 seats). Our server was great and they preface it was their third day on the job, which is nice to know in case they made any mistakes. He didn't though! We both ordered pancakes, which were soft and tasty, but I didn't like how they serve them in these small skillet pans. I like to butter and cut my pancakes up before I take a bite (you all know way too much about me, btw...) and the skillet pans made that impossible. I ordered eggs and turkey bacon on the side, eggs were good, but I wasn't a fan of the turkey bacon as I like it extra crispy and I don't think it's possible with turkey bacon. At least not with the turkey bacon they offered. They also have a separate dining room with a projector screen. Overall my experience was solid and the food was on point even with the minor discrepancies I had. RECOMMEND!
