Cafe Lyria - Review - Soho - New York - The Infatuation

"Cafe Lyria is a sceney coffee shop in the lobby of a swanky Soho office building, and they’re serious about their Greek theme. The title screen of Disney’s Hercules plays on loop on a vintage TV, and many of the drinks are modern riffs on Greek coffee shop favorites, like freddo cappuccino and frappes. We like the coffee here a lot, especially the iced Lyria—oatmilk, espresso, and honey shaken over ice. You can get homestyle Greek cookies if you need a little snack. There’s some loungey seating inside, but the crowd tends to spill out onto the sidewalk, where there’s more room to shoot OOTD videos." - Carina Finn

Google
Lyria cafe is an awesome cafe with a modern vibe serving great coffee and pastries. The blueberry scone I got was a delight. The interior design and atmosphere were awesome, but we could not find a place to sit down. They had One Piece on the TV, which was pretty funny.

Google
small coffee shop folded into the lobby of a NoHo building on a quiet stretch of Crosby Street. if it wasn't for tables and seats often scattered in front of Cafe Lyria, you'd likely walk by this spot and not notice it. the coffee shop offers a variety of coffee & tea centric drinks as well as a small menu of items. the interior is a chill eclectic vibe made of a variety of seating options from a large couch, tables and chairs. the calming decor is a result of plants, warm subtle tones, and the space itself feeling cozy but not cramped. there's stacks of books and games placed throughout the coffee shop and a small tv playing a variety of anime. stopped by a few times and each time ordered an Americano coffee. the coffee was flavorful without being overly bitter and had that smooth hot caffeine kick that only good coffee delivers. never managed to take a seat at Cafe Lyria mostly because i had places to be. will say it is quite busy during the day as prime seats are mostly taken up by people who are laptop-ing and working (pretending to remote work!). the crowd, here, is a mix of students, remote workers, and mid social media scenesters. while not the greatest mix of NYers...the vibe remains chill. the ladies behind the counter are friendly and laidback and seem to enjoy the life of dealing caffeine to the chronically tired people slightly north of Houston Street. worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood, but not sure i would head here if it weren't convenient to things I need to get done in NoHo.

Google
Super cute small coffee shop, and the lyria coffee was delicious. I don’t usually like coffee but i really liked this one. Grandmas cookie was also delicious though a bit on the small side.

Google
The absolute best vibes. Groovy music, fun plants, great decorations, eccletic furniture, super kind staff and tasty drinks.

Google
Atmosphere very nice and a lot of people chatting/working. Ordered an iced hibiscus tea which was most ice. I said yes to a little bit of honey but it ended up overpowering the hibiscus flavor.

Google
It’s only four stars because they didn’t do flavored lattes. There’s only like simple syrup on a side table for sweetener/flavors. I ended up ordering the only other recognizable item, which was an iced chai tea (latte?).There’s nothing to explain, just a simple chai. The atmosphere however should be in vogue. Wow!!! Customer service was 12/10 Those ladies really like being there and helping customers choose other menu items, while answering questions, then to receive you your order in less than 15 seconds

Google
Just WOW. I wasn't expecting such a spacious and nice environment from a tucked away cafe. The owners were extremely friendly. They did an amazing job for their decoration and used the space surprisingly well for fitting enough seating despite relatively small space (which somehow feels relatively large). Pastries were great (especially the owners' grandma's secret recipe cookie). The coffee was delicious. Definitely worth a visit (or two, or three) and one of the easiest 5 star reviews I've given. Entrance is a bit difficult to spot but if you look hard enough, you'll see it :) .

Google
A nice stop in NoHo, the Lyria coffee was amazingly good with a touch of honey, the atmosphere was good except so many people were using laptops there that it was hard to find a spot to sit.

Yelp
This is one of my favourite coffee shops in New York City. The blonde girl on the register was super sweet and the coffee was excellent. It's nice to see a group of employees who are close friends, the vibe is infectious. The interior is stunning and I love to drink my coffee on the outside benches. They have dope merch too.

Yelp
I was in search of nice place to sit and relax after shopping in SOHO. I walked by Café Lyria and decided to give it a try. The ambiance inside is fantastic, modern, trendy, and perfect for a relaxed cafe vibe. The place was buzzing with people reading, working, and hanging with friends. Not sure what to order, I took the barista's recommendation and tried their house special latte. It was an excellent choice. The blend was smooth and flavorful, topped with frothy foam. I'll be back for that latte next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Small coffee shop but the interior and vibes are fantastic. Very green and eclectic with a mini tv playing nostalgic shows like Pokémon and dragon ball z. The atmosphere really adds to how much I like this place. I got their signature Lyria drink which is an iced drink with espresso mixed with Greek honey and oat milk. It was really really good, I love honey in my espresso and they did it really really well here! I have read a lot of reviews about it being extremely busy but that was not my experience. I walked in around 8:10 and ordered my coffee and had tons of options of where I wanted to sit and enjoy my book.

Yelp
Very demure, very cutesy. Café Lyria is an aesthetic coffee shop tucked away in an alley of NoHo. Beautifully decorated with rustic interior decors, wooden paneling and plants. Their price tag is reasonable in the area, including their hypest specialty drinks like Freddo Cappuccino and Lyria Latte ($5-6). I've been curious about their viral Freddo Cappuccino. It is a Greek style coffee combining iced espresso with frothed cold milk and (optionally) a sweetener. I don't usually add sugar or sweetener to my coffee, but the espresso base is quite bitter even for me. It tastes like a dark roast black coffee with an extra thick layer of milk foam. Imo the coffee doesn't fully living up to the hype, but it's still worth checking them out for the vibe.

Yelp
It's small, it's always crowded, it's loud. The Barista girlies are sweet and efficient! Drinks are aight - basically the same as the Mulberry street location. Honestly disappointing and the vibes of the customers it attracts are not my cup of tea to say the least but they have nice interior. They added a bunch of benches outside (which are usually already crowded).
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
beautiful name, beautiful ambiance, great service and good coffee ! I came here as a referral from one of my friends who is a regular and this coffee was delicious. The espresso was a bit burnt but not bad! I got a vanilla oat milk latte, I'd be back.

J. L.

Yelp
Good espresso and music and decor and friendly staff but awkward seating. And only paper cups!
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
I am genuinely confused about the hype with this cafe because there was a pretty long line out the door on a Saturday at 2PM. It's a really cute and vibey space, and there's pretty good seating inside and outside. A lot of people hung out on the outdoor chairs and tables. I got the Freddy, which is one of their signature drinks. I honestly thought it was just okay? I drank mine really quickly, and it was pretty watery and not well balanced.
google avatar

Sophia C.

Yelp
You can't deny how beautiful the inside is! Plenty of seats to admire the room, catch up with a friend, or work. I ordered their popular Cafe Lyria latte. I'm glad I gave it a try but I'm afraid it's not up my alley :/ Something about coffee and honey... doesn't always sit right with me. However, I'd love to give their other drinks a try!

Yelp
I had just gotten back from a summer trip to Crete and was craving a freddo cappuccino. I admit I was influenced through social media - and saw this Greek themed coffee shop and was excited to come check it out. My drink I guess satisfied the itch for a freddo cappuccino. The place is tastefully decorated, paying homage to Greece. But there was just a coldness/unfriendliness about the place, that was hard to put my finger on - not the staff who seemed polite enough, but perhaps the patrons who were there. The people here seem like the type who are trying a bit too hard to be cool/hip (not necessarily a bad thing, just not my vibe or crowd). With that said, I'd come back again if I'm ever in the area!

Yelp
Visited New York and we were staying nearby. I would walk here every morning and get a coffee. Their coffee and matcha were delicious and it's a perfect place to read, work, journal or people watch.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the vibes at this cafe! My friend and I stopped in on a rainy day and it was packed but there is a good amount of seating. I got the signature iced lyria latte which is espresso with greek honey and oat milk, I did sub mine with almond milk (which they have and will do!) - I highly recommend this if you're a fan of honey!! Price wise was relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of cafes in the city so that's a pro. It wasn't very strong for me and I really need my caffeine fix so that's the only reason for the 4/5 stars but other than that, I'd definitely come back and get a stronger drink! It seems like a great place to also get work done/read a book, apart from just catching up with friends!

Yelp
I had never heard of this coffee shop before this past weekend. The interior is cute and you are surrounded by old TVs and other memorabilia. There are also plants hanging around this coffee shop which makes it pretty. They do have indoor seating. It is located in NOHO. They also have complimentary wifi. This place is perfect to come if you are WFH ( work from home) or want to grab a coffee with a friend. I got a coffee that had Oat milk ( you can also get Almond milk) and honey. It was tasty. Highly recommend stopping in here if you find yourself in the area.
google avatar

Hari K.

Yelp
came here to study on a sunday morning - they have wifi and a couple of outlets, but I'd say vibe of this place is less study and more so gab. Really pretty environment and nice and sceney - honestly kind of a cool place to have a coffee date. The cappuccino I got was pretty delicious, but had a chai after that was only mid to bad; so definitely try their specials! All in all, vibey but wishing they had more seating
google avatar

Ann K.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee (Lyria) and matcha latte! The pastries are great as well, specially the blueberry scone which was perfectly made. The service is very fast and the ambiance is fun fresh and energetic.

Wazeerka M.

Yelp
Coming back to say that the owner is a sweetheart and his staff are serious professionals who deal with the out of the door lines and pretentious Tik-Tok-y, Alo yoga customers with such grace and patience! Looking back, can't really blame the blonde from my first review: the crowds are unbearable. Coffee is still very good and music/vibes is very nice. Not their fault they can't control who frequents their coffee shop.
google avatar

Olivia P.

Yelp
The layout of this coffee shop is very interesting. The decor is fun and the vibe is nice, but despite it being a good space, the seating is limited. I got the Lyria. The coffee was very good, and I liked the hint of sweetness. My only issue is that it was unclear what the Lyria was, and when described next to the Fredo Cappuccino sounded better but didn't quite get into the true difference among the two. The coffee, despite being around $7 total was also small. Kind of a ridiculous amount for such a hefty price.
google avatar

Chris A.

Yelp
Cafe Lyria is a trendy and aesthetically pleasing coffee shop. The name and decor are what drew me to visiting while in the areas and I am so glad I did. It seems to be a popular spot with folks who may either live or work in the area which is great to see. It was busy which I assume is a good thing but made it difficult to find seating - they offered games and other things like books for entertainment which I appreciated. They offer both in door and out door seating. Coffee is a little overpriced but I'm not surprised and knew given the area. I'd definitely visit again!
google avatar

Alayna K.

Yelp
A gem!! Beautiful interiors, super calming energy and nice place to get your am coffee. I got the Lyria which was not super sweet and I enjoyed it. The baristas are super nice
google avatar

Cami C.

Yelp
Top rec from a friend so gotta give a visit! I liked their iced lyria and the inside was super cute w plants but lowk was a bit too busy to be peaceful. Lovely vibes tho and great yap sesh
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Great vibe and overall atmosphere. The inside is really cute with the decorations and spaces to sit. There's outdoor tables and cute gathering spaces inside. The coffee is amazing and one of my favorites I had while in NY.
google avatar

Shannon F.

Yelp
Super cool cafe right in the SoHo, NoHo area. I took my coffee to go but they had some pastries from other bakeries and lots of different seating options inside and a few tables outside. I had an iced cappuccino and while it was delish I was hoping it would look like the social media images with the fluffy ombré. Service was fast and friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
I stopped by for a quick coffee pick me up before work due to the popularity I've seen for this place. It's a very short walk from the Broadway-Lafayette station, so accessible. I would argue it's a hole in the wall due to space. Ambiance: the style of the cafe is small and quaint, in between a mix of rustic thrift shop, cafe, and mini garden. So beautiful for classy Instagram pictures! Service: 2 baristas and one person to take the order at 9:10am in the morning. For how busy they were, they were incredibly well at making drinks. However, due to the business, I wonder how many drinks are really lost in the mix since they have a limited menu but modified items are certainly a thing. Food: I got the iced freddo cappuccino, since everyone raves about it. Honestly, it was such a disappointment. Felt like it was just black coffee on ice. Ended up getting another drink later in the day to offset the taste. Didn't feel the aromatics were there, just felt dark and bitter. Maybe a different drink would do the job? The ham and cheese croissant was well worth the price though. Overall: the actual cafe didn't fully live up to the hype I feel was established.
google avatar

Vicki C.

Yelp
Cute decor and nice vibes at @cafelyria . There are very few seats so we were pretty lucky to have found a cozy spot. I think the coffee itself was alright. The signature coffee is unique but I couldn't taste much of the flavor and would probably rather have a normal cup of cappuccino. Another downside was that the trash can was hard to find, and people basically just left trash everywhere, which was kind of annoying.
google avatar

Shreya B.

Yelp
Stopped in here after a workout class and immediately loved the vibe. The place is small but cozy, and had indoor and outdoor seating. I saw a number of people on laptops so could be a good work spot if you can snag a seat but am not sure if there's wifi, etc. I went for the iced lyria which was delicious, however it was pretty pricy for the size of the drink. I saw a number of people with the fredo cappuccino and I hope to try that one next time! Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Super comfortable café and coffeeshop in Noho, tucked away on the North side of West Houston St on Crosby. With nice couches and chairs, large grand windows overlooking the street outside, and a clean, cozy environment, Café Lyria is a homey, welcoming spot steps away from the rush of Soho shopping, Noho studio gyms and restaurants, and more. Serving espresso beans from Passenger Coffee, and all milks including Oatly, I was served quickly by a friendly barista. It's not on a huge main thoroughfare, like Broadway or Lafayette, and therefore keeps just a little bit quieter than some other well-known or more conspicuous places down the street, which, for me, was perfect.
google avatar

Phoebe H.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the aesthetic interior. This coffee shop was such a disappointment. They did not have toaster ovens / microwaves to heat up the baked items. I ordered an iced cappuccino and they poured a glass of iced oat milk and dumped a pre-made espresso shot in there. It tasted like oat milk with a small hint of coffee. I had no idea how long the espresso had been sitting out. Definitely not worth $6.00+. They also did not have trash cans inside so we walked outside with our trash in hand before finding a trash can on the corner of the street. Overall not worth the money. There are a plethora of coffee shops around the city more deserving of your business than Cafe Lyria.
google avatar

Mely P.

Yelp
Decent coffee and matcha. The interior and vibes cute but it's always crowded with people. Service is either non-existent or very rude. I've had quite a few instances where the cashier would give me an attitude for absolutely no reason. Needless to say I won't be returning. I would rather go to Gasoline for coffee even though it's a bit pricier. At least they don't treat their customers like trash.

Minh V.

Yelp
Their coffee is really bad . Dont waste your money here. Worse than starbuck cold foam cold brew lol
google avatar

Chelsey S.

Yelp
Love the iced lyria but would love more if it wasn't so expensive. A bit difficult to find a seat here on weekends
google avatar

Tessa S.

Yelp
The ambiance would be nice if there were not so many people all the time. The coffee is good and you can probably work here in the morning during the week. They also have croissants that looked really delicious.
google avatar

Victoria Z.

Yelp
Interior decor of this place is nice! Got a matcha latte with oat milk, and it was good. Everything is a bit hidden among the decorations especially the trash can that a customer told me as the baristas were a bit in a hurry. The place is very crowded
google avatar

Augusto N.

Yelp
New rule, if a place claims to be serious about coffee and the don't have to stay cups they are just lying to you

Yelp
-the cafe lyria iced is a beautiful concoction of oatmilk, honey, and espresso and truly melts in your mouth -the aura of the cafe is quite nice - but can get really crowded on the weekends - i would say the price is pretty good comparatively ($6.50) but the cup is smaller for the lyria than a usual iced latte - coffee was stronggggg - will be running back as soon as i can

Yelp
Edit to add the customer service is iffy depending on who's working the front. I'm not a fan of having to think for other people. That's not my job and not a task I enjoy. I ordered an iced Freddo cappuccino which I've enjoyed a couple times here. The last time I loved the way that it was made. They normally melt the sugar with water to make a simple syrup if I need more sweetener so when I was asked if I wanted honey or sugar I opted for sugar and asked for it to be on the sweeter side. I hate honey in my coffee. I was told that the cappuccino is strong and I said yes that's why I want it on the sweeter side. I had already had my coffee fix but I want to support this spot whenever I'm in the area. When I received my drink it didn't taste sweet at all so I asked for more sweetener and I was told the sugar is melted with the espresso. I'm like it's never been an issue to melt extra packets with hot water before. They always offer to melt more sugar without me asking before I even pay. Needless to say, I ended up using nasty stevia packets. The ladies here are always so sweet. They sweeten your drink while hot by making a simple syrup if you're getting an iced beverage so they were trying to gauge my sweetness level by eyeing it lol. Then they said they'd melt down more sugar if I needed more. They also gave me some olive oil cookies to try with the Freddo Cappuccino. It gets pretty busy in here during the weekend.

Yelp
I bought into the TikTok craze over Cafe Lyria and went on a weekend morning! The line was out the door but moves fast. I got their special Freddo Cappuccino with honey and a croissant. The drink was not too sweet which I liked but tasted more like an Americano which disappointing. They also were unable to warm up the croissant. While the drinks/good fell short of expectation, the ambiance is certainly a vibe. Lots of old time records, statues, greenery, and other eclectic pieces makes this coffee shop one to check out (atleast once).

Julie L.

Yelp
Iced matcha latte w Greek honey and oat milk Would go again! Very god and great welcoming staff! Pretty greenery as well

Yelp
Service: 4.5/5 ambiance: 5/5 drinks: 3/5 We went on a Sunday afternoon and the line was out the door. However, the barista was friendly and we got our drinks fast. The cafe itself was beautifully decorated with shelves full of old tvs, cameras, newspapers, etc. Whoever decorated this space -- paid attention to even the littlest of details. It felt like walking into someone's living room. That being said it doesn't have a lot of seating -- and the seating they did have were large couches where multiple parties were all squished onto one couch. Again, we were there midday Sunday so it may be less packed on other days/times. I found this place through social media -- which recommended I try the freddo cappuccino. Honestly a bit of a let down. But that often is the case with social media-overhyped places. But my partner got a latte and that was better. Still, the beans were a bit light and it was heavy on the milk but decent.
google avatar

Joanne H.

Yelp
a nice cafe spot but not the best for big groups ! drink: i got iced chai which actually comes not sweetened at all and i liked it! a lot of people were getting the lyria special drink which i am interested in trying next time space: it's not the smallest but it's very communal, everyone is sitting side by side and working a lot so don't expect people to get up quickly
google avatar

Falcon G.

Yelp
Best coffee in NYC, great treats and ambience. Can get crowded but there is a lot of indoor & outdoor seating.

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Great vibe and love the girlies who slay the barista game, specifically Liv, Gloria, Anoula and miss Nellie!! Yummy coffee and love how this spot feels like a little piece of Greece!
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
Tasty decaf cappuccino and lovely staff! Seems like there is good seating options too if you want to sit in.
google avatar

Celeste M.

Yelp
Found this place searching for freddo cappuccinos after a recent trip to Greece. It has all the charm of the cafes abroad but with better service. It's a small place so unless you live on the block, I doubt you'll get a table but I was on my way elsewhere so the lack of surface didn't bother me. They have a few outdoor tables but they're also hard to come by. I really enjoyed my freddo cappuccino and have been back multiple times before penning this review!

Uno V.

Yelp
- yummy ham and cheese croissant - love iced lyria - americano good too - busy. Long lines and hard to sit down
google avatar

Ria S.

Yelp
I don't know what it is about TikTok overhyping places. This place and Aime Leon Dore were all over my feed, so when I came into the city and wanted to go to a café to pass time, I came here. It's clearly very popular - the line went all the way to the door and mostly all the seats were full at 8:30am. I ordered the iced Freddo Cappuccino, which is their viral drink. It was not worth the hype. Pretty interiors and baristas were nice.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
Another great spot we tried on our trip These guys have great Cappuccinos And muffins. Great pastries here too. Nice staff and were no rude people to us so far. Nice atmosphere with good music. Bit of a fancy cafe style vibe here in the city. Great staff and people. I hope to come back real soon.
google avatar

Kelsi Y.

Yelp
It may hard to find the spot but the moment you enter the place. You'd love it. Cute decoration and friendly barista. I like how they layout the space as if we were sitting in friend's apt or even our home. We ordered almond crisscross and chocolate croissant latte and mocha. The pastry are great!
