"Cafe M is in a plum location on the Savannah River, but you could almost imagine it's the Seine. Brunch is divided into three sections: Parisian, American, and Healthy. Parisian comes with the much-celebrated French bread and pastries, served with Bon Maman preserves. American consists of hot options like scrambled eggs with cheese, ham, turkey, and bacon. Healthy features smoked salmon on wheat toast and a bowl of granola. Most restaurants on the riverfront feel a little touristy, but this cafe retains local character, and the brunch options transport you to a lovely Gallic corner of the South." - Paul Oswell

This little French gem was not too far from our hotel, so we had to give it a try. My wife got a veggie croissant with hummus, greens, and peppers. I got the Atlantic sandwich (Smoked Salmon, cucumber and almonds) on a croissant which was delicious. This fine establishment has a variety of pastries and sandwiches, along with other sweet and savory items on the menu that we wanted to try, but we simply ran out of time during our stay. If you are in the historic district, and are craving breakfast food, pastries or just a healthy snack, you must stop by here!

Thank You to the entire team for an excellent Thanksgiving breakfast. They were slammed, they still gave us a great individualized experience and a smile. The food was great, they got it out pretty fast considering the line was to the door from the moment we walked in until we left. We can’t say enough great things about Cafe M. Plus we loved getting to see everyone’s beautiful pups! Thank you to the team for showing up and crushing it today.

Google
Walking down historic Savannah looking for a nice place for lunch before heading to the airport, I came across M cafe. A simple lunch menu with French style sandwiches drew me in. Sandwich was simple yet delicious, I ordered the Parisian on a baguette. I was the only one waiting for food and it took about 20 minutes for my food to arrive. Great lunch spot, great coffee- the wait times could be improved or communicated.

Google
Cafe M feels local and cozy, nestled among the chaos and tourism of River Street. I got the quiche Lorraine - highly recommend! The coffee was also good. Space is limited and tables are first come, first serve, so make sure there are tables available before you order.

Google
This place is a gem! The coffee was actually one of the best I have had in a long time at a coffee shop. We ordered the vanilla lattes. We were lucky someone was playing their guitar so it was so peaceful and beautiful all around. We went two times the service was okay girls seemed overwhelmed & rude. But we went for the food and coffee so was easy to ignore them. It’s a must stop when visiting!

Google
Lovely little French cafe right near River St. I got the Nutella banana croissant and the oatmeal with fresh fruit. All was high quality and super yummy. My beverage was a chai tea latte- this was also very good. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were kind, friendly. Place was clean.

Google
Yummy sandwiches and coffees. Not a quick lunch spot in a time crunch. The toast turkey club was so flaky and the blueberry cream cheese croissant was warmed very good.

Google
Café M is the best French inspired café I’ve ever been to in Savannah!! It’s so authentic, delicious, fresh, and just wonderful. The French decor and architecture plops you right into a Parisian café. The baked goods are phenomenal (I recommend a heated up chocolate croissant- it tastes like a literal French pain au chocolat!) and the sandwiches are absolutely mouth watering. The staff are super nice and hospitable: great ambiance and a great place to sit back, relax, have coffee, and get that much needed work done.

Mick S.

Yelp
Savannah is a city filled with excellent eateries, and Cafe M is right at the top. You can't get a better lunch than this on the river. Highest recommendation.

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
Very cute french cafe. Nice little breakfast of matcha and a croissant with peanut butter. Croissants were flaky and fresh. However, on the morning I visited, there were two people working, and it took well over 20 minutes for us to get our croissants and reheat a quiche, plus beverages and they weren't even busy (I think there were 2 or 3 guests ahead of me). I don't know if Cafe M was short-staffed this day, but it was the deciding factor not to visit again because of how long we waited.

Anastasia W.

Yelp
I have been here a couple of times and each time it's a whole new experience. I absolutely love the atmosphere it's so sweet! The food is always good including their breakfast sandwiches. This time I had the Mediterranean sandwich and the peppermint mocha! So good! Highly recommend coming here!

Cassie C.

Yelp
What a cute Cafè! I had their well known Breakfast Sandwich with the Signature Scrambled Eggs, Brie and Ham on a Croissant .... SO good! I washed it down with a light white wine. Great Spot!

Kim B.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this quaint cafe that has found a little nook of peace among the downtown area. It's located right off the love lock bridge on Bay Street, so you have to find street parking. My friend and I went and ordered a couple of hot beverages and breakfast here. She got a breakfast sandwich, which came with a small mixed green salad. I ordered the veggie quiche that also came with a salad. The quiche was really really good. I also ordered a London fog with oat milk and it was delicious. I'll definitely be back cause it was quite nice.

Yelp
Cafe M is located right on River St in Savannah and is a true cafe. Small, intimate and cozy. It was right next to our hotel but we would have travelled if needed. It was excellent. The staff was courteous and prompt. I chose the buttered croissant with scrambled eggs, sausage and cheddar. The croissant was the foundation for what was the best breakfast sandwich I have had. Light, flaky, buttery. Amazing. The eggs were rich and fluffy and the sausage was the perfect accent. You can choose a baguette or toast for your sandwich but the croissant was the star here. Plenty of great coffee and pastries as well to try next time and I'm looking forward to it.

Yelp
Very nice, quaint spot for breakfast (French-themed)! Stopped through on a rainy morning, when the cafe was busy (was still able to get a table for two). Great food, cappuccino, and atmosphere!

Nic C.

Yelp
Always a treat! Highly recommend the bottomless mimosas! Ambiance and staff are chef's kiss!

Tanya J.

Yelp
Whenever I have an early morning downtown, I love coming here. This place is so cute and is in such a nice location for a weekend coffee shop date with my pup :). There's always a seasonal latte that absolutely slaps, and I recently tried the pumpkin mocha latte there. Literally was exactly what I want in a fall theme drink! I've never eaten food inside, but I like to sit outside and people watch with the pup. There is limited seating and it's pretty small on the inside. Service is absolutely amazing, and the treats are so good. We tried the chocolate and raspberry croissants, both very good! Can't wait to try brunch here!

Rob B.

Yelp
They allow dogs in the restaurant and a group four brought in 3 medium sized dogs with one the kept whimpering and barking. Then while eating, I had dog hair float down and land on my food. Ruined my appetite. Won't ever return here. And because the owner acts as the Hostess, Order Taker, and Busboy, it takes a while to put your order in resulting in a little longer than normal for receiving your food.

Rachel C.

Yelp
Their breakfast is delicious. The service is excellent. The limited space to eat can be frustrating in bad weather. This is our go to spot for breakfast and French bakery every time we're in Savannah.

Laura A.

Yelp
Location was close to our hotel and included a discount with our stay at the River Street Inn. They have outside seating too, but the weather was a bit chilly. Inside had a nice amount of seating for a small cafe. Staff were welcoming and helpful, informing anyone who entered to grab a menu as you walked in to prepare to order at the counter. They had chilled water available which was great since we had already had plenty of coffee that morning in our hotel room. Ordered a breakfast sandwich and found a table. They provide a number sign and your food is brought to you when ready. The slightly toasted croissant was delicious, flaky and buttery and made for the perfect bite with my breakfast sandwich choices- eggs, Brie and ham.

Amber S.

Yelp
The workers here were incredibly unprofessional and rude. They forgot about our order, which was only two sandwiches. Once reminded, they brought it out about 10 minutes later. However, it was the wrong sandwich bread. When we told them we had ordered it on a croissant, the worker rudely told us that it was our fault because we should have checked out how it was rung up on the ticket. We didn't think we needed to check with such a small order. Clearly this falls on who rang it up wrong, but to say it is our fault on top of getting the wrong order, and on top of waiting over an hour for our order is just insane. We will not be back. Ever. The food was not great. Small portions and high price for what you get. Every employee was rude. Even the groups sitting beside us were talking about how rude and bad the restaurant is. Management needs to have a meeting with their staff for sure.

Nicholas J.

Yelp
This was our second time here - we had been here three years ago and remember it being a cute cafe! But this time around it really wasn't great - the cafe itself needs a bit of a face lift and the food was not worth the wait time. The employees were very kind though especially when one of our bacon, egg, and cheese on a baguette sandwiches was forgotten and not brought out. They worked quickly to have it made. We would go with the croissant sandwich if we ever went back. The iced latte was very good though. Also, people really struggled with the seating - more chairs or stools being available would be helpful.

Marissa A.

Yelp
I wanted to update to say I have been back many more times to cafe M and took a pic of the amazing chicken salad.

Janet H.

Yelp
I used to really love this place. I've been back several times since my initial review and have recommended it to at least 20 vacationing friends. Came today and... I still love the Parisian atmosphere. But, I went to see my plentiful food picture (which I've shown too many people) and it was gone. I realized WHY, when my sandwich came with simply a sliver of orange slice. I enjoyed my meal, but not 1 of the 4 people behind the counter smiled or even made eye contact for that matter. The only person who smiled at us, and was friendly was the busboy. Disappointed!!

Dave B.

Yelp
My first time at Café M and it was so good I had to come back a second time and a third time to take a to go coffee and pastry for the trip back home to Canton Ga. What an absolutely adorable Cafe. When you walk in 2 things hit you right away. 1. The delicious aroma of fresh coffee and freshly baked pasties 2. The charming motif of an authentic Parisian Cafe. They serve all the coffee favorites, latte, cappuccino, Macchiato, americano and hot chocolate. Along with hot or cold teas. I went with the Americano Carmel Macchiato for the beverage and a fabulously delicious scrambled egg with Brie and Prosciutto on a French Baguette. A perfectly delightful experience. Next time I'll be sure to give their lunch menu a try. Filled with so many delicious sounding items all with a French flare. Also sidewalk tables and chairs that's pet friendly. Definitely give Café M a try if you're ever in the Savannah Ga. Historic District.

Lizzy G.

Yelp
Yummy breakfast sandwiches! Service is slow but they warn you of that with plenty of signage. We didn't mind sitting and waiting. The food came out fresh and hot and the staff was very friendly. The location is awesome. We enjoyed our time here.

Gin K.

Yelp
Had a charming breakfast here on a chilly morning. Sat inside and looked out the windows. Love that they had gluten-free options. Small menu but great for a morning bite.

Sasha G.

Yelp
Great food, cute ambiance! Limited seating inside (only 8 small bistro tables) so only 16 people can dine inside at a time but that didn't affect us on a Wednesday afternoon. I wish they had actual utensils/bowls/plates that weren't plastic but overall we enjoyed this place!

Matt W.

Yelp
Best breakfast in Savannah. Period. Immaculate vibes. Sit outside, watch the massive container ships sail by, and enjoy amazing breakfast sandwiches. You can't go wrong with any of the breakfast sandwich combinations. The hot chocolate on the cold morning that we went was perfect too. Find a way to come here. PS there is a lock bridge right outside of the restaurant.

Drew T.

Yelp
Delicious food in a charming setting. So good we went back every day of our visit. Attentive, friendly staff, especially Halle who welcomed us each time! The croissants are wonderful.

Ashlee B.

Yelp
Delicious bite for breakfast. The croissant was buttery and flakey. The parfait was yummy too. Would definitely go back and enjoy again.

Kristen C.

Yelp
So great that we went for breakfast here 2 out of our 4 mornings! Loved the baked goods, the crossants are the real deal! And the coffee was amazing (the mugs were really cool too), we also tried the oatmeal, yogurt parfait and breakfast sandwiches, all super yummy! It is the cutest French inspired cafe, totally recommend!!

Janis E.

Yelp
Staff was cool. They were young (millennial & Gen-Z) and very sociable but not in a way that was uncomfortable. Food was nice. Not too heavy. Do not come here looking for a hearty meal. It is not that type of place. The vibes are great. We sat outside and had a beautiful view of the water and the love lock bridge. I would mostly recommend this place for the atmosphere (if sitting outside. Inside is small and a bit cramped) and light brunch. The highlight of this establishment is the option to add bottomless mimosas to your brunch for just a few extra dollars. They really did something great with that option! My glass was never empty and the mimosa pour was consistently wonderful!

Jordan W.

Yelp
A little bit French, a little bit Southern, Cafe M is a cute breakfast spot and bakery that matches the elevated and romantic Savannah atmosphere. We stopped in for coffee and patisserie on a Saturday morning. Although a bit crowded, we managed to place our orders, and we're sure glad we did. The croissants were fantastic, and the baguettes we took with us for later were stellar, but the coffee cake was by far some of the best coffee cake I've ever had. Moist and spicy with a crumbly topping, it's worth a trip all on its own. The best spot in town for a casual and quick breakfast.

Lora C.

Yelp
What a sweet French coffee shop/café! Located right near the love lock bridge. You can buy the locks to use here also. Had mimosas that were cheap ($5) & delicious. Seating was a little challenging since it was drizzling outside. Seems like a good mix of locals & tourists.

Azsha H.

Yelp
I did NOT have a good or welcoming experience here, the staff was extremely rude, lacking tact and customer service. I will never step foot in this location again.

Sarah H.

Yelp
We stopped in for brunch, it was very busy and it takes a while to get your order in but that was fine. We went around 10 am and were able to snag a table. I got the quiche Lorraine and to my surprise, I was given two slices. The quiche was packed full of ingredients and was very tasty. Overall a very cute place to stop when in Savannah.

Kevin G.

Yelp
This was a nice quaint coffee shop located right next to our hotel, River Street Inn. Had passed by it on my way in from my AM run. Quick tips: Yelp App had a $5 Classic Mimosa Check-In offer AND this is where you buy a lock that you see on the accompanying bridge. I originally dropped by to grab coffees for my gf & I, then noticed they sold mimosas. I'm guessing the alcohol laws are different in Savannah bc they could serve at 11:30. I ordered the Mocha Latte for me and the Amaretto Almond Latte for her. My coffee was really good, and I loved how thick hers was. We opted to come back down & grab mimosas after, and eat. They have seating inside & out, but the sun was beaming on the outside tables so we stayed indoors. I like that you can't grab a table before ordering & totally respect this practice! They have flavored mimosas but we stuck to the classic. Bottomless is $20 per person, which isn't bad if you're planning to get sloshed. I was more amazed at my food that I ordered. Typically, coffee shops don't offer much of a great cuisine. But the Breakfast Sandwich I ordered was damn near perfection. The baguette was perfectly crisp & toasted, and one of the better ones I've had. The bri, salmon & 2 eggs went together effortlessly on the baguette, enticing my hands to not put down this delectable sammie. For something so simple, this breakfast sammie was a French treat! Overall, was very satisfied with this encounter and would highly recommend!

Mike B.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Service was friendly and pleasant. Loved the atmosphere! Highly recommend!

Melissa M.

Yelp
On our last morning in Savannah my boyfriend and I stopped here for breakfast and it was the PERFECT find. It's very charming inside. You order at the counter and sit down with a number on your table (you know the drill). TIP: I would only recommend this place for small parties. It's a charming little place, but emphasis on the "little." Each table was a small round table with 2 chairs. I did see a party of 3 pull up an unused chair to their table, but they seemed smushed. There was a consistent flow of people the entire time we had our breakfast. We didn't wait long though! They move through fast. I wouldn't be deterred by the look of the line. Ok, now to get to the important part. The food!! Their croissants were amazing! Very flakey and buttery. We shared the Banana & Nutella croissant, I highly recommend! Of course it tastes more like a dessert than breakfast... but no complaints here!!

Lisa C.

Yelp
I had the most scrumptious egg and cheese on a croissant!! The croissant was absolutely perfect ... soft, flaky and tasty. The scrambled eggs were light and fluffy. Seriously, the best egg and cheese croissant ever! And my latte was delicious. The space is reminiscent of a French bistro and is so cute. Suffice it to say, Cafe M is now my go-to for breakfast.

Tammy J.C. D.

Yelp
Cute little shop with friendly service & delicious sandwiches too hungry to snap pics. !

John T.

Yelp
I had planned on going to the restaurant next door but a Yelp reviewer recommended Cafe M. I'm glad I took their advice. This is a cute French inspired cafe with homemade pastry, quiche and other brunch foods. Unfortunately they were out of quiche and so my wife and I had the scrambled egg sandwich. Mine was on baguette with Brie and ham. My wife had hers in a croissant. We both had mimosas. They also offer bottomless mimosas but we had a long day ahead of us and so we passed on that. We heard French being spoken and it turns out a French tourist was there having breakfast and so you know this place is legit!

Stephanie O.

Yelp
We walked to this little café from our hotel along with the river. There is more outdoor seating than indoor. The staff is warm and friendly. We ordered the create your own breakfast sandwich. It is a fresh butter croissant with scrambled eggs and your choice of protein. We picked turkey and Swiss but if I came back, I would also try the salmon! We took the choice of the veggie quiche, which was a huge hit! And served with mixed greens in a Vidalia vinaigrette. Both plates came with a juicy fresh orange slice. The cappuccino was incredible! Our bill was only $37. Would come back tomorrow! We came at 830 and by 930 it was picked with a line out of the door.

Kym T.

Yelp
During a recent stay in Savannah, I visited this cute little cafe twice Once for a breakfast sandwich and a latte, and once for a chicken salad sandwich to go. Both sandwiches were delicious, and I wish I could have that latte every morning of my life. Starbucks are you listening???? The service was friendly and the ambience inviting.

Suri M.

Yelp
Cafe in a great location downtown in the historic district, you can sit outside and see the tour groups going by down along the Factor's way tunnel, and in the other direction there's the gold domed city hall. It's accessible from street level without stairs. Order indoors. Good selection of vegetarian options, including a quiche, and a yogurt parfait. The quiches are very eggy, and come with a side salad. They also have single serve pies and various pastries. It looks like a nice cafe, so it's surprising that they give you disposable plastic cutlery and cups. Gender neutral restroom "water closet" inside.

Ashley S.

Yelp
This has remained one of my favorite spots in Savannah. They have great coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Today was my last visit since we are permanently moving away. But I got to start the day off with their French baguettes breakfast sandwich and a lucky charms latte. They have seating indoor and outdoor with very minimal indoor. They don't want anyone seated before they order. I guess to make seating far to people who order first.

Teki H.

Yelp
French bistro meets Continental cuisine. Cafe M has both inside as well as outside seating adding to the charm of a French bistro in Savannah. They serve breakfast items such as croissants, quiche, and French baguettes with Brie cheese, they even have yogurt parfaits with granola. There are also salads and sandwiches to complete the lunch fare. Since it sits riverfront, a to go option for the food makes for a lovely picnic. My salmon which came out warmed with a nice spring salad on the side. The service was great as well with all servers ensuring that the meal met my expectations. Parking can be a bit daunting for us locals, however the holiday and Sundays would be good days to make that exception- it's free! Two thumbs up, for sure!

Sarah O.

Yelp
As locals, Mr. O and I walked with friends and neighbors from Forsyth Park to Cafe M. It was a lovely day and we had a lovely experience at Cafe M. I had a cafe mocha and an egg and cheese sandwich. It was amazing! Mr. O had the tomato bisque soup and a peach mimosa. The service there is excellent. We highly recommend.

Cagri S.

Yelp
Ordered bottomless mimosa and to say they found the bottom is the least... they use Minute Maid orange juice.. service was terrible. There were only two people working and both of them looked like they were mad at the world.. not one smile. My food was terrible no flavor in the eggs.. don't waste your time this place is mediocre.. we left and went and got breakfast elsewhere

Jane H.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick breakfast near our hotel on River St. There was a counter where you stood in line to place your order, a few tables inside and several more outside. The line moved quite slowly, since the person taking the orders was the same person making each drink before taking the order of the next person. There were a few pastries for sale. They didn't look too appealing but we got a raspberry croissant, which was mediocre and lacked lamellation and height. My husband's mocha had "chunks" of something in it. My latte was fine but could have used a stronger espresso flavor. I really enjoyed my Atlantic sandwich - smoked salmon, tzatziki, and lightly dressed mixed greens on a warm croissant. The croissant was excellent. Husband said his Mediterranean sandwich on a croissant was fine. I would suggest having someone wipe down tables between customers (if this happened, we didn't see it when tables were turning over), getting better quality pastries, and perhaps adding more help for the person taking orders/making coffees since the line was slow and service was desultory. We saw several people leaving the line to go elsewhere. As of now I would not go back and wouldn't recommend.

Quincey H.

Yelp
I was hoping that there would be enough room to sit inside since it was raining outside and there were about 7 tables total with a few empty when we went the day after St Patty's at 10 am. The tables were slightly small as it is a coffee shop. We did chat with a few other people that were there alone and it was very fun to see where everybody had come from! I ordered the Normandy salad and 1/2 baguette bread tartine with butter and jam. The salad had a lot of toppings (Brie, pears, walnuts, dried cranberries, and ham) which was really good. Tasty dressing too! I wish the bowl would have been slightly bigger since I was afraid of spilling. The bread was slightly too toasted for my preference but still yummy. I couldn't finish it all. My sister got the London fog tea and a chocolate croissant and was pleased.

George S.

Yelp
Cafe M makes you feel like your someplace in Europe in the 1870s with a view outside of the Savannah river - My favorite breakfast location in SAVANNAH with a great staff giving ideas on the menu options. The breakfast sandwiches are a fantastic and I would recommend the bottomless mimosas, definitely a great way to start your morning Muy bueno!! Almost forgot to mention the Mocha latte with raspberry is freaking sooo good

Paulina M.

Yelp
Was extremely misled by the marketing on instagram. Beware. The experience here was disappointing and way too expensive for the service and atmosphere they provided. I wish I would have passed by to scope it out before dining in with my friend. Spent 30 dollars for subpar sandwich, croissant and coffee. Better off going to Franklins and or the Public for a better experience + food while paying the same price. This was my first time coming here as I am from Miami and have been living in Savannah for some months now. Wish I could be refunded as I was not satisfied at all.

Maribel A.

Yelp
Very nice French Style Cafe, is a beautiful place, the food was really good, a nice buttery croissant , and the service was excellent, will definitely come back some other time when I'm in the area.

Roanna P.

Yelp
We visited this cafe twice on our visit to Savannah. The ambiance when entering is so relaxing and welcoming. The service was exceptional. I felt like I was a regular with how I was greeted. We ordered croissants that were fresh and warm. I especially loved how my matcha was prepared. The young lady that assisted us was very friendly and made us feel like regulars, great customer service. I highly recommend stopping here if ever in this area.

Kathy B.

Yelp
French cuisine and atmosphere! Delicious food, French music softly playing in background. Friendly staff! Highly recommend!!
