Cafe Madeline

Hands down my favorite cafe in Brooklyn! Love their bowls, always hearty and delicious. The smoothie and juices are yummy too. They have outdoor seating and a great indoor area with plenty of outlets if you need to get some work done.

Thank god some one told this was the place bcuz it looks different now. I love the coffe but I really love that they have everything !! I got super thick bacon and 3 fluffy blue berry pancakes. Soooj good I ate outside and a perfect Sunday morning

Past Sunday we drive around Brooklyn. We saw line next to a spot same cafe Madeline …we went in and order few things Was busy the place the owner saw we with kids and was very helpful and generous We for sure recommend to go there and we for sure will come back

This used to be my sleeper spot but it looks like the secret is out. Friendliest staff, short wait times even with the long lines. Try the maple latte, it’s my favorite! If you love matcha, you will be obsessed with this spot. They have such a unique menu and everything is so fresh.

Swung by this place hungry after a workout but was disappointed by the chicken curry sandwich I ordered. The “focaccia” bread felt stale to the touch and the chicken itself was dry to the bone and flavorless. The side salad was barely there. Not at all worth the $18.45. Although the staff and atmosphere seem nice, I will not likely be back here for the food.

Not good, man!! I ordered two sandwiches and a coffee & girl I was HUNGRY ! Food took a while to arrive but that doesn’t bother me… BUT the coffee had spilled all over both sandwiches! I tried to call cafe madeline so they could send me a new sandwich but their phone is disconnected 🙃 now I am hangry and out like $50+

My favorite restaurant in Ditmas Park, but also possibly in Brooklyn! The staff is so sweet and kind, the food is so consistently delicious and they have the BEST coffee drinks in the neighborhood. Prices vary depending on what you get and how you customize it, but I feel like for the high quality ingredients they’re super appropriate. The menu is constantly being updated but they keep a core 50-ish items that never change. The new things they’re always adding are so creative and interesting and always make me want to try something I wouldn’t necessarily normally try!

What a great little find in Brooklyn. It seems like just your average hole in the wall café, but it's so much more. The menu here is extensive with a lot of unique treats. While the line is long and moves quick, the staff was friendly and allowed us to take our time to make our order. It has some awesome bakery items, but also great breakfast and brunch items. You can get great coffee as well as delicious fresh blended juices and smoothies. The most surprising thing was just how beautiful and tasty the food was. The presentation is like you're in a much more upscale restaurant and taste matches that as well. This is one of my new must-go to places while in Brooklyn.

The food at this breakfast spot hits! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. I especially enjoyed my banana & peanut butter smoothie bowl. However, be prepared for a bit of a wait. It was pretty crowded when we arrived, and finding a table took some time. Also, the prices are on the higher side for breakfast. Overall, though, if you're looking for a tasty meal and don't mind the crowd or the price, it's definitely worth a visit!

Good food and good atmosphere. The breakfast here is so fresh and authentic I was amazed at the amount of drink orders they offer. The walls are covered with different choices and drinks there's just an endless amount of options. The dressing on the side salad with the food is really good as well. I hade the rose cardomom latte and it was really good and spicy. If you're looking for a quick breakfast in a casual setting this is your place

Great food and great service. Big menu lots to choose from. My bowl was fantastic. Generous portion and very decently priced. It's cute inside albeit pretty close quarters but the space works ok. Can't wait to go back and grab a beverage from their massive drinks selection. The hot drinks look lovely and they have so many blended drinks to choose from. The bread that came with my egg/salmon/avo bowl was so tasty I'd def try their baked goods too. I'm a fan!

I met a friend who lives in the area. There are a lot of tables. I was shocked to see that they have a room in the back. Coffee is good. They offer all different kind of dairy/non dairy options. We stayed outside for 3 hours. I would love to try the breakfast items. My friend recommended everything on their menu.

The servers here are just the nicest people you'll ever meet! They were very warm, thoughtful and patient. I had an iced latte and you can choose between any of the milks without extra charge. The spicy potatoes were good overall but lacking a little in flavor. But nice that they give two eggs. The avocado was plentiful on the toast, although I'm not sure how well labneh pairs since they're both creamy. It would be nice to have salt and pepper shakers on the table. Overall great breakfast spot with tonssss of options and super friendly servers. We'll be back!

Stepping into Café Madeline in Brooklyn is like embarking on a daring, yet utterly delightful, expedition for your taste buds. Imagine Indiana Jones swapping his whip for a fork and knife, and you've got a pretty good idea of what to expect. For starters, I wasn't prepared for the immensity of the menu. That's usually a turnoff for me, but when you can also see and smell most of what's cooking, you kind of want to just try it all. The setup is different than I'm used to. Maybe not the place for a big group but my small crew of three did manage to shimmy through the close quarters at the front, past the order window, a single column of small 2-person tables, which led to another area of maybe 6 more tables, and finally an enclosed room with a few larger seating areas. Additionally, you can eat outside in nice weather as they also set up outdoor seating on the sidewalk. Now back to the food! The moment you enter, you're greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee that pulls you in like a treasure map to the lost city of Caffeine. I had a delicious matcha latte with soy. The avocado toast here is a revelation--each bite is like discovering a hidden temple of flavor. The bread is perfectly crisp, the avocado is smoother than a well-oiled boulder trap, and the seasoning is the final, well-placed gem that completes the artifact. But let's talk about the pancakes. These aren't just pancakes; they're like fluffy clouds of joy that have descended from the heavens specifically to bless your breakfast plate. One bite and you're free-falling through layers of syrupy goodness, with each mouthful catching you just in time to keep the experience thrilling but never overwhelming. The staff? Amazzy. To-the-point breaky spot. Wonderful, vocato. Translation: what I call avocado toast. Lolzsies. Sit outside and people watch on Cortelyou. One of the best breakys in Brooky.

This is my go to place when I'm craving a good avocado toast on sourdough bread. The ingredients they use are fresh and delicious. My only complaint is their portions have gotten smaller over the past few years but I'm still satisfied. I recommend eating there or picking up your order as they have an amazing selection of baked goods and always sell out if you don't go early.

All I aid before but now I am hooked on the greens and salad bowls. I hate quinoa but that's not their fault.

Huge cafe spread out across two storefront locations. One is more pastries, teas, and coffeee. Another side is hot veggie buffet, burgers, bowls, and sandwiches. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options (mostly in the Indian curry flavoring) but also standard options too. Very friendly service and very accommodating to vegan needs. Got a large bowl with a bed of rice and one of every Indian curry veggie item they had available and it was big enough for two to share. Grabbed some Brooklyn Best Peach Tea & Mango Tea that's "not too sweet". Great spot for lunch with easy fast service and outside seating.

This has been my go-to breakfast place. Quick, yummy, healthy, and convenient. Only downside is that it can be expensive for certain dishes, and wait might get long if it gets too busy. Inside looks like a cute French cafe, and the servers are friendly and warm. Highly recommend for brunch/lunch needs in you're ever in the neighborhood! My favorite things to get: yogurt and granola bowl (yogurt is so creamy and granola is delicious), and the breakfast plate (well seasoned and balanced, light and fresh).

I ordered breakfast food online as the line was very long and the seating was very full. It was easier and the food come out a bit faster The food was good but was a little disappointed on the size. I was expecting more but the bread was filling enough that i didnt notice. Everything was seasoned nicely. I also got a flat white but didnt really enjoy it as much.

Almost everything about Cafe Madeline is great. Freshly prepared smoothies ,sandwiches, breakfast are all great. The place is welcoming and you can hang out as long as you want. The one shortcoming is the coffee. It's just not that good. I've told the owner many times about it but he sticks with his brand.

do not.. i repeat do not be fooled and order drinks for delivery, even if they are listed on seamless to order, do not do it. my entire drink was in a bag with no top and it spilled everywhere and you can't call because their phone doesn't work. food is good with delivery, but do not order any drinks or you will be out of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

LOVE this spot. Clearly everyone else does too, because the place is always packed. It's also a little expensive for a cafe, but the ingredients make it worth it. So many good breakfast plates, lattes, and smoothies to choose from. Sometimes if I don't want to fight for a table and it's nice out, I'll use it as an excuse to take a walk and order for pickup.

A wide selection of foods, teas, and coffees. The servers were friendly and the food was good. The area was clean and welcoming. Four stars + not five due to the bathroom not being as clean as the rest of the establishment.

Cafe Madeline is a cute cafe spot located right across from the Cortelyou St (Q) station. They have quite an extensive menu, from breakfast/brunch to all day sandwiches and wraps as well as a ton of healthy drinks and smoothies. I opted for their Healthiest Tea ($5.95) which is usually served hot but I asked the staff if they could make it iced and it's fast becoming one of my favorite drinks of all time. The honey and lemon is so soothing and familiar while the cold-pressed ginger and turmeric juices add in some much needed nutritional benefits as well as a punch in the tastebuds.

I'm from the area and have known about Madeline forever but only just started obsessing over this place! Happy to finally be giving it the review it deserves. Great place to grab a bite, have good coffee and get some work done. Star items I've tried are the Burrata salad, Lavender latte (less sweet), Cardamom bun and matcha latte with oat milk. Can't wait to go back!

their coconut matcha is easily one of the best things i've ever drank. all of the workers are cool and the outside seating is cute!

I got a Brekkie Bowl; quinoa, avocado, black beans and roasted sweet potato, combined with red onion and kale sauteed in olive oil. And, there was an egg on top. I took a photo of the bowl so I could reproduce the recipe at home. This combination will become part of the regular lunch menu rotation when I get home to Texas. At the counter, as I was ordering, I noticed a cake. I asked what type of cake and they said "carrot". I told them to sell me a piece, that I intended to have dessert first. And I did. Add Great Cake to the list of things they do well at Cafe Madeline.

I can't rave enough about Cafe Madeline. I love this place. I usually do breakfast when I don't feel like making my own. Their smoothies and fresh juices are amazing and made fresh to order. The food is very good quality and farm fresh. I appreciate the variety of menu options. Some days I can do vegan options and some days I don't. Their lattes and really good as well and have options of different milks which is always a plus if you are non dairy. I have been there a few times and end up working off my laptop if it isn't too busy. This allowed me to realize hw friendly their service truly is. Highly recommended! Even if it's just for an ice tea on a hot day!

I want to love this place. I used to really like it years ago but I stopped getting food here for the following reasons: 1-They always had a big menu (with a lot good food options) but they keep adding more and more and it got very overwhelming, especially when you realize that most things in each category are very similar to eachother with minor variations. I wish they had more concise menu and people can make subs if they want. It takes so much time to go through the options , by the time I'm done I am over it and everything start to seem unoriginal (and, frankly, therefor too expensive) so I give up and just get my iced my coffee. 2- I hate to say it but this place really doesnt seem clean. During the time I sit with their dictionary (menu) and contemplate if I'd rather be hungry or unhappy with what I get, I notice the state of the place I choose hungry. The plated food always looks well-handled when the waiters bring it out so maybe the kitchen is clean, but I often see spots of collected dust around the room, especially the little part where they keep the high-chairs. Kind of makes you lose your appetite They also don't really have windows/ventilation by the tables. if the kitchen makes something smoky the whole place basically feels sits in a bacon hotbox for sometime. If a fly gets in there then it really has no place to go, and its joining you for your meal The place has so much potential, and its weird to say this about place that has been open for a while, but people still rave about the food so I have hope. They really just need a cleaner menu and everything else.

Best place ever. Healthy with super avocado toast and farmed eggs, smoothie, acai bowl and great coffee. My boyfriend take always the French toast and are delicious covered with fresh berries. The service is more than great and makes you feel like home. The place is cozy and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. In a sunny day being outside having a great coffee makes you feel in the right place at the right time. Go and try, you will be happy!

Honestly, wasn't the whole hype. The first impression seemed like I was going to like it but then the girl didn't look like she wanted to be there. First impressions are everything. I am from Arizona and came here because it was highly recommended. They were super busy but my egg was only crispy on one side and the salad was bare. See photo to see, also isn't it a given that a buttermilk muffin be heated up? I thought that's a given. I'll let them the next time I want to come back. I do like the smoothie, the person in charge of that gets a whole five stars. Anyways, I like the back area to be able to work super cute.

Came here for a breakfast meeting. I don't know the neighborhood much but this was the meeting spot. The min I walked in I knew it is a decent place. A nice selections of coffee, food and pastries. The coffee is great, the croissant I had was flaky and buttery. The breakfast platter my colleague ordered looked great. Overall I really like this unassuming place. In the back there are ample room for people to sit and work. It was a nice spot for meeting because it is not overly packed since most people come and get food to go. I will definitely come back again.

Great food but you guys do a terrible job packing drinks in delivery orders. All your staff does is place yellow tape over open lids of drinks?! the tape is never secured and hardly covers the open portion of the lid. This has happened to me orders on numerous occasions and just happened again. The drink spills out and ruins my food. please figure out a better way of packing drinks. It shouldn't be hard with the prices you all charge for food.

A Cortelyou mainstay that has apparently gone through several renovations. So upon my latest visit, I'd forgotten I'd been there years ago. The menu is overwhelming when breakfast and brunch foods are your favorite meals. There are SO. MANY. delicious looking options, I suggest studying the menu before arriving. Their standouts seem to be the huge variety of breakfast bowls, not something I tend to see elsewhere in such number. But the classic platters, omelettes and sandwiches ALSO come in varied number. I haven't even begun to list the choices of unique combination lattes and the pastry display! (Seriously, if you're indecisive like me, study in advance!!!) Thankfully, I had a neighborhood regular with me to affirm my choice of Paul's Platter: the plate with a cheddar chive biscuit egg sandwich with spicy mayo and smashed avocado plus mixed greens sides. And it was exactly what I needed -- flavorful and umami rich without the need for meat, though altogether spicier than expected due to the spicy mayo and red pepper flakes in the avo. I also had the very grammable Rose Petal Latte that comes with crushed rose petals (!) and it was not overly sweet like I was fearing. Beware: choosing your milk type from the plentiful dairy and non-dairy varieties ALSO proved to be nearly one decision too many for me! Madeline is definitely a popular spot: seating inside, outside, and lots of pickup orders. My meal came quite quickly but, strangely, my friend's bowl only came after I was on the last bite of my food. Regardless, the food is too delicious to complain and the service as friendly and prompt as can be given the number of orders. The only downside is there's not a ton of shade on hot days like today and there's lots of street traffic from cars, buses, and trucks along Cortelyou. But like I said, Cafe Madeline has been here at least a decade, likely before this neighborhood exploded to levels I see now. And here's hoping they can continue to stay for the long long haul!

I was visiting a friend in Brooklyn and had some time to kill as she went into work. She highly recommended Cafe Madeline so I decided to give it a shot. I came in for looking for good breakfast and an iced coffee drink around 11:00am on a Friday. [Ambiance]. You can't miss the café, as the bright yellow storefront grabs your attention from down the block or across the street. As I walked in, the restaurant was pretty full with individuals typing away at their laptops and several groups of friends chatting quietly and laughing jovially. The vibe of Cafe Madeline is simultaneously upbeat with a laidback neighborhood feel. The menu offerings take your typical, informal breakfast up a notch. The decor can certainly be described as minimalist yet trendy. The walls are a medium toned wood color (as are the tables), with the restaurant being filled with bright blue, yellow, and aquamarine accents. The bright décor was certainly complemented by the bright ambiance of the staff and customers. [Food]. The menu features many options for breakfast. I would definitely recommend checking out the extensive menu before arrival. Luckily, I came with a taste for something in mind. I ordered the iced Rose Petal Latte and the Breakfast Bagel. The Rose Petal Latte was the perfect amount of sweetness and a subtle but noticeable hint of rose. The bagel sandwich was phenomenal! I opted for an everything bagel and it was perfect. Each element of the sandwich was tasty on it's own (yes, I confirmed) and complemented each other well. The everything seasoning on the bagel was flavorful but not overpowering. The eggs were scrambled and fluffy and tasted very fresh. The bacon was thick and slightly salty and the cheese was rich. I decided to grab a Sunshine Smoothie on my way out. For $10, I was expecting it to be good and it was. The size of the cup was larger than I was expecting and justified the price. It could easily be shared between two people. [Service]. My latte came fairly quickly (within a few minutes) and the Breakfast Bagel came after about 10 minutes. When I made my order, I noticed how efficiently the kitchen staff was working. You can't help but notice this as the kitchen is located directly behind the counter where you order. I opted for a seat in the back half of the restaurant as there was more space there. I thought I heard my name being called but I wasn't sure over the sounds of groups chitchatting and the music playing. When I went to the front of the restaurant, a waiter had just turned around to find me in the back of the restaurant. I offered to take the plate from his hands and he politely declined, saying he would follow me to my table and deliver the plate there. The small gestures make a huge difference! Overall great service and great food - a perfect experience! I look forward to visiting again during my next trip to NYC.

We ordered breakfast for delivery from here on a Saturday morning. All the food came carefully packaged to prevent spills. We ordered the Brekkie Bowl with bacon and crispy eggs & brioche, Dragon Smoothie Bowl, and a side of potatoes. The Brekkie Bowl was pretty good and fresh (except for the avocado that had an extra slimy texture than normal). We were also a little confused to where the brioche part of the eggs were. The Dragon Smoothie Bowl was superb! It wasn't too sweet, the fruits were fresh, and they didn't cut back on the toppings. I'm happy to say there was at least something crunchy in every single bite. The side of potatoes were okay; nothing stood out to me about them. I would definitely come back to this place as they have a very extensive menu and plenty of heathy options to choose from. I think I need to try their teas next time as a lot of people are raving about it!

I want to like this place but they are just too inconsistent. I've come here for over 4 years now and it's gotten worse across the board. The staff is spread too thin and they make tons of mistakes more often than not- egregious ones at that. E.g. ordered a mushroom brekkie sandwich and received a pile of mushrooms and half an avocado. No egg, no bread, no seasonings. Bizarre and unacceptable. Or a smoothie missing over half the ingredients, burger buns instead of french toast, etc. They also NEVER include extras that you pay for except for when they do and it's barely a spoonful of avocado/jam for $5... or something like that. When I'm paying on average $15+ per dish, none of this is tolerable. Your kitchen needs to get more organized, stop making random substitutions, limit the menu size or amount of orders they take, and maybe advertise a higher wait if that means getting the food right. Also, the inability to contact the establishment (lack of phone number and/or nobody picking up) is incredibly unprofessional. I absolutely cannot recommend this place anymore.

This place is a must for brunch and amazing breakfast sandwiches. My brother always get the pastrami sandwich with spicy mayo and I always get the egg omelette sandwich. Both pairs perfectly with their side salads. Must try their fresh squeezed/made juices. So good!

That female staff member in the gray t shirt and cap was so rude today I had to leave this review. She's been less than friendly and has this air of being annoyed on alot of days, but today she really had zero professionalism in how she spoke to me. All I asked her is how many strips of bacon are in a side order for $5 and she responded: "I don't know. I'm not the person to ask." Um... Actually, you are because you work there. At any point, she could've easily turned around and asked one of the line cooks but instead she goes further with her boorish attitude and says to me: "It's your world, I'm just living in it." I have no idea why she thinks it's ok to talk to customers like this when they're just asking simple questions but the owner will definitely lose patrons bc of her.

Super cute (and busy) cafe with lots of options for brunch, sandwiches, salads, coffee drinks, and tea. The service is friendly but definitely busy. I had a tea latte that I wish I could remember what it was (I think it was something vanilla) but it honestly wasn't very memorable - I'd probably get something else as a drink next time. I also got the tuna melt and it was tasty - great cheese on top - but also very overwhelming to eat because it's basically toast with tuna smotherrrrrred in cheese. Still very good though once you wrap tour head around it. I liked the side salad as well.

The food was great, very friendly and helpful staff but the system they have in place to order then go get your drinks at a different spot then go back to get your food is very strange and when the place is packed there's really no place to stand to wait for your drink. They call out your name like a Starbucks. There's really no reason for that. It should be more of a traditional restaurant style. The food was a little pricey but overall good. Would return if they start selling alcohol.

Cute brunch spot in between Flatbush and Prospect Park. They were offering indoor dining when I visited in late November. There is also free parking around the residential avenues. My food came out quickly. We were dining indoor and they brought the food to us once it was made. The drinks are prepared at the counter to the right of the cashier. The decaf lavender latte was very aromatic, but the lavender flavor was not as strong as I wouldn't The Madeline breakfast brioche was perfect. The spicy mayo on it was perfect. The french toast was delicious as well. The fruits were good, but the french toast with syrup was even better. The toast was soft and fluffy! Tl;dr - would definitely recommend their breakfast food!! (Madeline breakfast brioche and french toast)

Meh. I actually feel guilty writing this review because I've only been there once and I ate outside in the cold. But... I don't get why this place is so popular. The service is counter service and is polite but otherwise quite normal. The food was, well, it was okay. I'm guessing it's because their pricing is still within the realm of affordable for a decent meal. It's very busy there with lots of business and the menu has variety enough for budgetnistas to splurge. Personally, I'm past the stage in my life where eating off a plastic tray is okay. Also, gluten free and low cost generally don't mix in food service; Cafe Madeline is no exception. But their base doesn't require GF fair, just decent fair at a price that doesn't force you to change your lifestyle. While they have a strong loyal following and have probably have earned it, this place is just not for me.

An extensive mash up of vegetarian and no vegetarian food. The menus are hanging on the wall as you walk in with extreme 3 am club/ house music playing. It's almost a rave with food. You order at the counter and the food finds its way to you somehow. There's indoor and some sidewalk seating. I'll be back for the food and the dance party
