"Steps off the Main Street, this cozy bistro with tables centered around a fireplace specializes in French country cuisine using Maryland seafood. Must-tries include the baked brie appetizer, creamy crab soup, and a special, seasonal soft-shell crab BLT on brioche buns. Mains like the halibut on potato galette are reminiscent of homey European meals." - Tierney Plumb, Claudia Rosenbaum

I love annapolis...... Very historic, cute capital of MD...very walkable historic downtown/waterfront. As I was walking around doing a little shopping I came across this place. I have never been before. What caught my eye was that they had soft shell crab sandwich that's one of the specials!! Overall, great place in I would go back again but maybe not for the soft shell crab sandwich. It is hard to pull off this classic or maybe my expectations were a little high as I haven't been back in Maryland in several years. I don't know that it needed the bacon or at least not that much...... Maybe it was making up for the fact that the crab size was on the small side idk.

The French Onion soup was delicious. Everything else was... below average. I got a halibut sandwich, which ended up being a piece of dry halibut on bread with a slice of lettuce and tomato... nothing else. I expected more for how pricy this place is.

Good food, service, and company; what more can you ask for? Will definitely be back as there are so many wonderful things on the menu to still try. The only negative of the entire meal was the gazpacho, which had so much garlic in it you could taste nothing else.

This is no French Bistro, no table cloths, paper napkins, no spoons. The food lacked taste, the Roasted Bone Marrow was over cooked, and had little marrow. Service was good, even though understaffed. The wine list is diverse and European. Normandie has the ability to be great, with mainly semi private booths and a great Chef and owner Jean-Louis Evennou.

I have lived in many countries & this is among the best restaurants anywhere. No salt & pepper shakers on tables because you won't want them. Halibut & mangoes dish was perfection heightened by distinct fresh taste of herbs & green beans. Coffee perfectly smooth. Servers were coordinated & prompt with management tracking quality & timeliness. Apple & Cheddar Crepe dish is unforgettable. Likewise for the 1-crust apple pie. Entire menu is amazing. It will take us a year to try everything. The Normandy Farms restaurant in Montgomery County, MD was one of my favorites before it closed. This is more of the same but at a much higher level! For busy weekends, the traffic literally doesn't move, so park several blocks away from the yacht harbor & walk off some calories! Annapolis is charming on foot.

Café Normandie – Main Street, Annapolis, MD Beautiful restaurant. Great ambience with an indoor gas fireplace surrounded by glass. If you are familiar with downtown Annapolis, you know parking can be an issue. Instead of fighting to get a street spot, we parked at the new Hillman parking lot off of Duke of Gloucester Street. $3/hr. Once parked it is less than a 5-minute walk to the restaurant. Our hostess was Carolyn, very nice and friendly. Our server was C, who definitely was off her ‘game’. Not very friendly and you can tell she wasn’t excited to be there. Ordered the Baked Brie with Honey and Almonds as an appetizer. Very nice. The cappuccino was excellent that went well with the Fresh Berry Tart and Chocolate Éclair (yes, 2 desserts 😊). OK beer selection. Ordered Flying Dog Blood orange IPA (bottle). When paying the bill, there was a $4 charge for bread. When asked, the server said it was listed on the menu (it was actually listed on the daily special menu, not the main menu). However, I told the server that the Baked Brie came with bread, so this didn’t make sense. She did remove the charge. I discussed this with the hostess and she agreed that this should not have been charged. Review your check, that’s all. It would have been 5 stars except I thought the service was not up to their usual standard.

We went there for our anniversary and had a great time. They had a great special where we could (like restaurant week) each pick an app, entree, and dessert from a list of options for $42. I’ve always wanted to try bone marrow so we got that as an extra app. We each got clam chowder, he got beef Bourguignon and cheesecake, while I got raspberry duck and something similar to flan. SERVICE: awesome. It didn’t take long and it was timed perfectly between apps so we had time to chat and pick at apps while we waited for our next dish MARROW: was super rich and flavorful, but definitely one of those things where you can only eat one, maybe two, and then it gets to be too much (for me anyway). Not a dig on the food, but simply mentioning the portion size is good for a group so each person can have one taste (though my dogs were very happy with the leftovers haha) SOUP: very good! I’m not much of a seafood fan in general but my fiancé was very happy BOURGUIGNON: so this is where I took off one half of a star and not sure if it’s even right to. Neither one of us were wowed by the dish. I told my fiancé I would make some for him and did so that week, and we both preferred mine. So, we didn’t care much for it, but perhaps that is the authentic taste and we just happen not to like it 🤷‍♀️ DUCK: I took a risk with this bc I don’t normally eat duck, but it was very good and a surprisingly large portion size. However, and this is where I took off another half star, the vegetables were a complete afterthought and it was apparent. I was pretty surprised they put so little effort into the beans and carrots to complement such a beautiful display of duck. DESSERTS: they were both tasty and tasted as expected Overall, I would go back for another nice day date in annapolis. Everyone raves about the escargot so I’ll have to get brave and try that next time!

Yelp
First of all... YUM! Excellent food, delicious flavors and kind service! Had a fun friend birthday dinner, parking wasn't too bad.

Yelp
I hate to do this but I've emailed the owner twice over the past month to the address he provided me and he has chosen to ignore me. So, I'm posting my message to him personally. We were appalled after leaving this restaurant on Mother's Day. ------------------ Hi, I've thought long and hard about sending a message to the owner and have finally decided I think that I should. I have wanted to eat at your restaurant for so long now and finally my husband booked a reservation for four for my Mother's Day presents I was so excited! We had a reservation for 7:30. We were there on time and ready! However, the girl working the front desk said you guys were running behind bc she had each table assigned already. She got our number and asked us to wait outside till she contacted us. Finally, at 8:20 and after we saw countless people leave and other families come in and immediately get seated, I went back in and asked if she was ready to seat us. She said no, there wasn't a table ready for us yet. I asked how long and she said verbatim "I don't know. Maybe you should find another place to eat since it's getting so late." At that point, a waitress came up and asked her what the problem was and I told her that we'd had a reservation for 7:30 and that I was being told there wasn't a table for us. The sweet waitress (I cannot remember her name) pointed at a table of four and said to the hostess "that one is available, seat them there." That upset the hostess so she sat us down with no silverware or menus. I had to go back up and ask for menus and it was clear she was not happy with me! I had previously had there just one appetizer there in Nov 2022 (and we were in and out - this Mother's Day was first meal to eat there) which was artichoke and crab... it was divine. So I wanted to order it again for the table. The closest thing we could find was the artichoke stuffed with crab dip. What was delivered to our table was physically inedible. The artichoke was burned to a crisp and couldn't be chewed and the amount of "crab" in the artichoke was so small. I almost cried bc it was so expensive and no one could eat it. It got taken away later having not been eaten except for the few bites we tried to chew. Each of us ordered our meals. My daughter got the roast chicken and my spouse got a crepe. Both of them were satisfied with their meals. I ordered the chicken du Normandie and my son ordered the Veal du Normandie. My chicken was so overcooked that (even though I never do this) I had to send back. The waitress informed me that there was no more chicken so what should she bring instead. I said the veal was fine. By this time it is about 9:15 and the restaurant was clearing out. She brought the veal out and it was even more tough: I couldn't cut through it. At that point, I almost cried. My son's veal was just as tough. We were both hungry at that point. Needless to say, we paid our full bill bc it was pushing 10 and our kids had school the next day. I was so upset bc of how hyped your reputation is and bc of how excited I'd been to dine with you all. We are and active duty military family so a meal that is $250 or higher for 4 is an investment. I was so disappointed and like I said, I was on the verge of tears. I don't want to leave a negative review so I thought maybe emailing you about our experience would be a better choice. I do hope to hear back from you. PS: I still haven't heard back... maybe this review will get his attention!

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant. Samantha was an outstanding server. Food was very good, relaxing atmosphere and fun experience. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Great breakfast place Nice find food was delicious. Omelette and steak and eggs Nice cappuccino

Yelp
One of our favorites - fantastic authentic French cuisine and wonderful service. I wish we came here more.

Anna F.

Yelp
Today was my second time at Cafe Normandie. The ambience is quaint. We were seated at the high top table which was comfortable. Our server Anna was lovely. The restaurant got busy fairly quickly but she took our drink orders right away. My significant other has an egg allergy and mostly all of the brunch menu has eggs. We asked for the lunch menu but since it was 11 am, they only offered the breakfast menu. My significant other ordered the steak without the eggs and substituted the eggs with spinach and mushrooms. He asked for the steak medium rare but it came out well done and cut like leather. We couldn't find our server because she was making drinks. By the time she came back and offered to make another steak, we were already finished eating. I felt so bad for him because all he ate was spinach. If you are the owner or manager of Cafe Normandie, can you please add non-egg menu items. The waffles are not an option because it doesn't contain protein. Possibly a burger or fish option would be a nice addition to your brunch menu. I did enjoy the ham, brie, and scrambled eggs crepe. Please note in the menu the cheese option is Swiss. I just substituted the Swiss cheese with Brie because I don't like Swiss cheese. For the lunch menu, you will see many crepe options. Not sure why they only have one option for crepes in the breakfast menu. Although I had a good experience with my meal, I would not go back for breakfast if my significant other cannot eat anything on the menu.

Yelp
I just got back from Paris and this compared favorably! Everything was great but the bouilabause won. Second was baked mussels.

Yelp
I'm so ashamed that it's taken me this long to finally dine here! I've lived around Annapolis most of my life, and I even went to school just blocks away. But dining here... it just never happened for various reasons. Until recently. We finally had a date night and we made the most of it. Strolling around downtown Annapolis and enjoying the cooler Fall air and cozy little town. We made reservations online in advance, and I'm glad we did! This place was packed! We started off with the baked mussels for an appetizer. They were cooked very well (not rubbery and not raw), with a flavorful herbed butter sauce on the plate. Use the bread to sop up all the goodness! Next, we each tried a soup, the cream of crab and the classic French onion. Both were tremendous! Depending on your mood, either one will more than satisfy. The cream of crab was velvety and had a sizeable portion of lump crab meat. The French onion might have been the best I've had; the broth was killer and the onions, cheese, and crouton rounded things out. Our entrées were the roasted corn risotto with scallops and the roasted half duck with raspberry sauce. The risotto was very good! The corn added a fun sweetness and crunchy texture, while the creamy risotto made a perfect bed for the scallops (also expertly cooked). The duck was fantastic, and the meat literally just fell off the bone. The skin was flavorful, but lacked the crispiness after being blanketed with the sauce. The sauce was a great contrast between sweet and savory, with not a strong raspberry flavor, but a deeply crafted taste and unctuous mouthfeel. Yeah... it was good. We didn't have room for dessert at this point, which is a darn shame, as everything looked so good! I really wanted to try the peach tart, which I think is a seasonal dish, so maybe next time. Save room! The décor is really cozy and quaint. There is a fireplace in the center of the room and exposed wooden beams above. It has a French cottage atmosphere and a warm light scheme. Overall, this is a must-do place in Annapolis. I really wish I had tried this place out sooner, but I plan on returning frequently. If you dig on French cuisine, I highly recommend trying them out!

Yelp
I'm giving it 1 star because I have to in order to tell you about this train wreck of a meal. NOT FRENCH FOOD!!!!! This is a tourist trap. The chef has no accountability and will not admit that he is slinging subpar hash that I wouldn't even feed my dog. It's a rip off and I didn't eat my cruddy dinner and was way overcharged for it. The decor is as sorry as the food. It's like they ripped off a Senior Home of all its fake flowers from the 80's. The staff was nice, I feel bad because all the they do is apologize. Clean your restaurant cook and buy a cookbook!!

Kristie B.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. It is the best French food we have ever had. The appetizer platter was sooo worth the price. Beautiful and well stocked on two trays. The apples in the tarte were unbelievable. They almost tasted like they had been dehydrated then rehydrated. Sooo good.

Alan P.

Yelp
This place is like every satire "French Restaurant" in a comedy. Don't spend the time or the money! Coincidentally the bread that they charge for per table at a french restaurant is the only thing you will eat of value here. The town is full of restaurants that are nicer, cleaner and have much better food. The cook here is so arrogant that they have disclaimers on the menu. He is just a cook who can't make chicken or seafood. Also they served sweet potatoes as the side but they don't specify that. They aren't even good. I have never had a filet with Bernaise and sweet potatoes. Also bathroom was gross and Martini was terrible. They are mugging you here with minimal effort, bad ambiance and worse food.

Ashley Y.

Yelp
Cute place, well air-conditioned and nice French country decor. Service was nice and liked the big cups of water provided. The food was mediocre and on the pricy side for lunch. -Burger - "mid" per a friend -Soft shell crab sandwich - $24, nice brioche bun but no sauce, better with mayonnaise. Soft shell crab wasn't well seasoned. The side salad was alright. -Steak and brie focaccia - this was very messy but this was the best dish of the lunch!

Yelp
On the next episode of Kitchen Nightmares.... We have chicken roasted in the crematorium with a side of greasy frozen fries. As a person who has dietary restrictions and cannot eat dairy, I opted for the safe bet of roasted chicken but I couldn't even get it down because it was devoid of any and all moisture. I attempted to rectify this by asking for some mayo but received some weird sauce to compensate. The menu at first glance is overwhelming and jumbled, the cups were dirty and worse for wear, and we ate with the company of many a dust bunny. As a foodie and avid watcher of Kitchen Nightmares, I noted many of the tell-tale signs of a restaurant in decline. The menu is overpriced and when confronted with the reality of the disgrace of his food, the chef failed to even grace us and apologize, or comp any portion of our meals.

Crystal C.

Yelp
This restaurant is our anniversary restaurant. We are struggling to move outside our comfort zone (not unusual for us). I get the bouillabasse, and I love it. We get a bottle of wine to go with it. I get the Creme Broulle for dessert. Service varies depending on the server - some are more experienced, and some seem new. I like the restaurant space, but the tables are too close together.

Amy B.

Yelp
Love their restaurant week menu every year. Such great options with amazing food. Servers were slammed but working really hard. I could eat that French onion soup every day

Shawn P.

Yelp
I made reservations to celebrate of our anniversary. For starters our waitress was very impersonal and unfriendly. The service was slow, as well as being very unattentive. We ordered a baked brie with honey and toasted almonds, served with freshly baked french bread. ($16 for stale bread) Initially, I ordered their Maryland Crabcake Sandwich with french fries. (Market Price) The crab cake platter was delivered with absolutely no condements. I was going to request for some, but decided to taste the crabcake first. Totally taken back on the taste, it was disgusting. In all my years of dining, this was the worst tasting crabcake I've ever tasted. Therefore, there was no need for condiments. I flagged down the waitress, politely requesting to return the order, because it was unsatisfactory.(understatement) I requested to order their turkey and swiss croissant, that my companion already ordered, commenting that it tasted fine, it should be a safe bet. Upon completion of our lunch, the waitress delivers a box, saying this is the crabcake your ordered. She addressed, you'll have to pay for it, as well as the replacement turkey and swiss croissant sandwhich. Claiming, she told us about the restaurant policy, when I requested for another order. I strongly contested, she absolutely did not, having my partner as a witness. At this point, I requested to speak to the restaurant manager. The manager came to our table, I asked him, your making us pay for a sub-standard crabcake lunch platter, as well as a replacement turkey swiss croissant sandwhich? He said absolutely! My response, FYI, I'm not paying for a substandard crabcake. Advising the restaurant manager, we were never advised about their policy, from your waitress. We also never heard of any restaurant treating a customer in such a unfair way. This was embarrasing of all times on our Anniversary! Charging a customer for completely unsatisfactory tasting crabcake sandwhich lunch, that I wouldn't even give to my pet. He told me the chief said it was ok, and nothing was wrong with the sandwhich, I told him, we aren't paying, enough is enough. We ended up not paying for the crabcake lunch after dealing with an absurd food return policy. Needless to say, this isn't how a couple should be treated, especially on their Anniversary. Let alone be served horrible food, and experience a very unfriendly waitress as well . The young manager, was inept negotiating, with this particular scenario. Because this customer was definately right! We felt compelled to write a review, based on principle, regarding our Anniversary experience at CAFE NORMANDIE. THEY DESERVE A BELOW ZERO RATING!

Min Z.

Yelp
French country style decor. Stucco walls, wooden panels, decorative iron works, and hanging plants. Service was warm and pleasant. The prices were normal, and the food was pretty good. Bread and butter was served. Bread was warm and fresh like a French baguette. We ordered: 4*Salade Nicoise: big portion of a variety of vegetables with tuna. Tuna was tender, veggies were crisp and fresh, and sauce was good. 5*Escargots: jumbo snails were cooked perfectly, soft and tasty. 3*Soft shell Crab: there were three choices of sauce. I ordered almond sauce which was pretty good. There was only one small crab with some string beans. The portion was light.

Frances D.

Yelp
I had booked a bridal brunch for 80 people with the managers in early February for May 12, 2024. They even called me back to say we can book this for you! Then on March 12th after invitations had gone out and people were RSVP'ing to the brunch they called to cancel because they reconsidered and did not find it in their benefit. These people have no heart or compassion! They have left me stranded and could care less! Would never treat people like this!

Adrianna P.

Yelp
most expensive and pompous yuckfest in annapolis. pls beware that the potatoes served are half cooked sweet potatoes, bouillabaisse is thick and gummy. after addressing the concerns with our waitress (who was very nice) nothing was comped from the bill or attempted to be made right - untouched bouillabaisse and the roast chicken from the national lampoons christmas vacation that were just disgusting. at their price point, the cook, management, and owners could care enough to not screw up roasted chicken ‍

Lily L.

Yelp
A quaint restaurant nestled in downtown Annapolis surrounded by boutique shops. I ordered the rosemary chicken, it was ok, I wasn't wowed. My GF ordered the Duck, she wasn't impressed. The wine was good, the server was attentive and nice. Overall, I would go back and try something else.

Andrea' C.

Yelp
This place is so amazing!!! It started with the wonderful service that we received as soon as we walked through the door. We were cutting it close and got there right when they were closing before dinner and they still gave us 5 star service! It's a very cute and quaint restaurant and it felt like we were in another country! You have to try the Escargot and Calamari as appetizers. I was blown away! We had the seafood crepe and trout almondine for entrées and finished it off with an apple tartine for dessert! Everything was so hot and fresh and I can't wait to go back! You must visit this place if you're in the Annapolis area and in the mood for French cuisine.

Mike M.

Yelp
Shame on us!!! My wife and I have lived in the Annapolis area for over 25 years and have never ventured into this restaurant. What a MISTAKE! It was our 20th Anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere new. Without getting into a long, drawn out list of each course and what we ate, I can tell you that was one of the best meals my wife and I have ever had!! The staff was very welcoming and our waitress Tatiana (spelling?) was exceptional. She explained each dish we were interested in and help us pick just the right ones for our individual taste profiles. From the warm fresh bread that they bring out to start things off, through the appetizers, salads, dinner and dessert, it was, for lack of a better word, EPIC!! The owner/master chef even came out and introduced himself and asked how everything was. If you are looking for a fantastic restaurant in Annapolis and you are tired of the same old thing, treat yourself to a meal at Cafe Normandy. You will thank me for the tip!!

Stringfellow H.

Yelp
Is it pricey? Yes. You are in the MD capital and a college town. Is it dated? Yes--you walk back in time as soon as you enter. Is it good. Oh yes it is. The last time I had French food I was in Strasbourg, and while my German is decent, my French is naught. That night I ordered some organ meat and paid €30+ and didn't eat it. NOT THIS TIME! English menu! French onion soup was excellent, great mussels and a cocktail to boot. Awesome waiter Nicholas was very attentive. AWESOME coffee too. POST SCRIPT--my aunt and uncle would visit this restaurant every year when visiting and dealing at the Annapolis antique boat show. Both were advised Francophiles. My uncle passed a away several years ago. As I was eating I was talking to my aunt about the wonderful times she had at this restaurant.

Laura H.

Yelp
Very disappointed with our experience. We came for lunch as a party of 3. Service was slow and awful. We ordered a croque madam which comes with turkey??!!! Despite it not explaining this on the menu. When it arrived- I asked the server why it didn't come with ham and cheese like a traditional one- she had no response other than " this has turkey". No effort to fix it. We ordered fries and got salad. When it arrived and I said I didn't order it- it took them 15 mins to get me fries and they charged me extra for it. My child's drink arrived half way through the meal. Server was not interested in checking in. Overall I would avoid this place. I have no issue with mistakes but when the server can't be bothered to fix them and then tried to over charge you, you know there's no saving it. The manager fixed the issue with the bill in the end but we were just dying to leave by that time. There are plenty of other options nearby so save yourself the headache.

Jason S.

Yelp
I created this account just to review the restaurant. As we entered, the place was packed. There is a warm and cozy atmosphere. It was loud but that is expected in a busy restaurant. The food was delicious. We had the chateaubriand for two and the chocolate bar for dessert. The chef was also incredibly friendly. He greeted each table individually while making sure our experience was wonderful. I will be back next week for midnight madness!

Danielle O.

Yelp
French onion soup was to die for would highly recommend. Overall cute ambiance and great service perfect for date night or lunch with friends

Gregg W.

Yelp
Answer your f****** phone Twenty min of calling you no answer that is how you tank a business

Alice J.

Yelp
Café Normandie is a quaint French restaurant in the pedestrian zone of Annapolis with a beautiful, thoughtfully decorated terrace on the side walk. They are dog friendly (even offered ice water to our puppy). Their soft shell crab (not deep fried) is good and unique. Their calamari appetizer is very good (a must try): see photos. They also offer seafood crepe. Now: service, a bit hit or miss. We were ignored for quite long while the other waitress kept going to all the other tables (she wasn't in charge of our table). Our bread came late (after the main course). But then she kind of redeemed herself by starting to pay attention to us. It rained towards the end of our dinner, and she brought out an umbrella and also invited us inside (She found seating despite the restaurant being crowded).

Kebbie K.

Yelp
We have been wanting to try this authentic French restaurant for quite some time and decide to kickoff this year's Midnight Madness with a 5:00 reservation. We had a lovely table near the front window so that we could people watch outside, I'm glad we were not seated in the back by the fireplace because that room was packed and very noisy by about 5:30. And then you contained many authentic French dishes, and many things look very pleasant, but once our server came with our waters, and we did not desire to order wine or a cocktail at that time we cannot see her again for close to 15 minutes. When she finally returned, we ordered the baked brie with honey and almonds as an appetizer and the ratatouille crepe with Caesar salad and the salmon with blueberries as our two entrees. Warm bread was brought to her table about five minutes later, and it was very delicious and crusty. Served with a pound of butter, just one. We waited at least 15 minutes if not more for the Bree to arrive. When it did arrive, we had to ask for more bread as it was not served with bread as stated. It was absolutely delicious as expected. We waited approximately another 15 minutes, and our entrées had still not arrived, I thought it was odd that I had not yet received my salad either. Our entrées finally arrived and looked. Does it taste delicious. When they placed the crêpe, I asked about the Caesar salad, and was told that it would be coming??? It appeared a few minutes later. Overall, the food tasted wonderful, and we had a nice dinner. The dessert options looked fabulous, but the dining experience was so extended that we wanted to get to shopping the stores and enjoying the festivities. Hopefully, we can return and enjoy some of the French desserts on another visit.

Heather W.

Yelp
Ambiance is very quaint and food is delicious. They are still in the process of obtaining staff since Covid, but our experience was still very good.

Helen H.

Yelp
Let us start of by saying food is great -- let's just say the food that we had delivered to table. Not the first time that we have been to this restaurant with the same issue. We have not returned to the restaurant for a year because of the sporadic way the food has come out of the kitchen. We decided to give it another try My husband ordered a side of fries with his meal. fries came out at least 5 minutes before his meal arrived...., my French onion soup which was my dinner did not arrive until after he had finished his meal. Because of previous experience I told him to eat his meal while it was still hot and i am glad he did. it would have been stone cold by the time my soup arrived. by then I just wanted to leave.

Jen J.

Yelp
Annapolis is the perfect place to spend an evening of strolling and exploring. It is also the perfect place for eating - or more specifically, eating at Café Normandie. The restaurant fits in so well with the quaint vibes of downtown, but with a hint of French in the atmosphere of course. I'm always a sucker for a basket full of bread to kick off the meal, and the tomato bisque soup was perfect for bread dipping or even just straight slurping. As a major fan of crepes, I had to order the mushroom and spinach buckwheat crepe. The picture does not fully capture the creamy and scrumptious crepe filling, but believe me it was there. It all left me satisfied and ready for more Annapolis enjoying!

Phong D.

Yelp
Eh subpar experience. I've lived in Annapolis all my life and have eaten here on many occasions. Service: My family took me there for a birthday dinner. The reservation was originally for 5 and then was later changed to 6 before the day of. Arrived and the hostess seated us at a cramped booth for 5. Father said he had requested when making the reservation that he wanted to be seated upstairs where there was room to accommodate a 6 top. Hostess was pretty rude about it saying there was no note and in a challenging way said she could "show you if you like". Pretty uncalled for. The booth they had given us for 6 was shoulder to shoulder like a subway car. Finally after we complained more and showed them the table they gave us was undoable, she sat us upstairs....which was empty...why the f*** wouldn't she just do that before? On the way up she made snarky remarks "well as long as you get what you want" and smacked the menus down at each place setting. I grew up working in food service and my family has owned and operated restaurants my whole life. I know it's stressful but if you can't keep your cool, you shouldn't be in the front of house. Our waitress, on the other hand, was good. She was pleasant and made the effort to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Small snafu on a wrong app being served but wasn't a big deal to me. They had a young man running food. Served the food from one spot leaning way over across the table and sorta tossing the dishes to the other end of the table. He could have very well just walked over closer to the other side of the table and served each person correctly from their left as you'd expect from a restaurant like this...not like Applebee's. It's not entirely his fault because I can tell he wasn't trained well. However, he did spill a ton of butter from one of the platters of escargot all over the floor because of his method. The food: The escargot, baked brie, and french onion soup were all good starts to the dinner. I enjoyed that they do serve a very good quality baguette. I ordered the special of soft shell crab almondine. It was very salty. Nothing else really to comment on that dish except my stomach didn't agree with it in the morning. I tried everyone else's food at the table. The duck with ***berry sauce was tasty. Very large portion as it is half of a duck. The scallops with corn risotto was very good. It was the favorite of the table. I personally like a harder sear but nobody else minded. The bouillabaisse was tasty. It was nice to have it served with rouille since some places forget. The special of halibut with mango special was also a good choice. The veal Normandie...a house favorite?...sauced well but the veal was horribly overcooked and tough. Expect a lot of chewing. Value: Prices these days are very inflated. I would say there are much better and more reasonable selections in Annapolis. 2 stars as it will likely be the last time I bother going there. It's just too hit or miss.

Yelp
Located along the brick-paved Main Street. Cozy unpretentious atmosphere with French music playing in the background. Found savory vegetarian entrees -- ratatouille in a crepe and the special for the day was a delicious portobello sandwich on a baguette. The gooey baked brie with sweet drizzly honey and crunchy almond slices was perfect comfort food with the baguette slices! No guilt, just pleasure, as you can walk off the calories along the picturesque blocks surrounding the state house, harbor, and naval academy.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. We were early for our reservation so they kindly sat us at the bar. Our waitress there must've been the bartender as well, a very hard working gal. She took our dinner order at the bar and then we were moved to our table. The service was pretty slow and I think it was bc she was the bartender and waiting several tables. They really should have someone who is just the bartender. My pasta primavera with basil cream sauce was very good with lots of vegetables but it would have been nice if I was offered Parmesan. My son had baked chicken and French fries. He chose the tomato bisque and did not like it. I tasted the bisque and honestly it tasted a little fishy like someone used the same spoon in the bisque and the chowder. We got bread that was piping hot, very nice. And we shared a very good pastry/ice cream dessert. Luckily, our waitress was able to get help from other employees to serve some of our orders and get us a to go box bc she was swamped. We didn't see a Christmas tree maybe bc there is no extra space for one but it would've been nice if there was a Christmas decoration or two.

Yelp
First visit to the cafe today. A busy night but service was good. The food was great. Bouillabaisse and crepes, and crème brûlée. The bouillabaisse had several types of seafood--shrimp, squid, white fish, mussels, plus some eggplant. Very well done and filling. Pleasant surroundings and noise level fine.

Yelp
The hits of the evening were the warm goat cheese salad, the foie gras on toast, and the roast duck, all generously portioned.

Yelp
Very nice quaint little restaurant on a strip with old time little shops you don't see anymore. I love the area. The food was pretty good. I ordered the roasted Duck with Raspberry Sauce. My homegirl ordered the rosemary chicken which she let me taste. It was ok. I would go back and try something else. The wine was good and the waitress was very nice and attentive.

Yelp
Really liked the overall vibe and authenticity of this French restaurant in the heart of downtown Annapolis. Escargot was outstanding, as was the half off bottle of Bordeaux (with their wine special on Mondays and Wednesdays). Unfortunately the scallops on the risotto were incredibly over cooked and the striped sea bass (which was supposed to be the fresh catch of the day) missed the mark. The Belgian endive salad with beets was flavorful and nicely presented.

Yelp
*3.5 stars* Restaurant downtown resembling a french style cafe, but with a slightly more upscale feel to it. I had the Salmon & Blueberries which was great, would get again. I tried the Pasta with grilled chicken and shrimp in the olive oil & garlic sauce which I didn't like as much, shrimp&chicken were overcooked. Prices were fairly high, not sure it's totally worth it since it is a little outdated of a place but worth a try.

Yelp
Cute and quaint environs, friendly service and tasty food! Ordered the baked brie which was really good tho i would have maybe preferred a honey drizzle instead of the cheese sitting in a pool of honey. Ordered the soft shell crab in a tomato based sauce (on accident).. it was ok. It was nice and light tho, so i ordered a second dish of the lobster ravioli. When it came, it looked like the ravioli was in melted cheese.. was skeptical.. but this dish was actually really good. They threw in some crabmeat on top that had a little tomato sauce and cheese i think.. very different but very good- i could repeat that one!

Yelp
Not as good as it used to be. Same owner, but something is just off. The food was good but not great. They charge $4 for bread to the table. Seriously? Never again.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot to satisfy my French Cuisine cravings. Their escargot are phenomenal!! Excellent Caesar Salad with or w/o Anchovies...yes gotta have anchovies. Their Jumbo Scallops Risotto is out of this world!! The food there is just so tastefully crafted and well worth the experience and price. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
The food we received was great but the service was not. I have a blistered burn on my lip from the bree served extremely hot without a serving spoon. 3 of us ordered coffees and 2 were served. The hot water was served without the box of teabags. No spoons with anything. My entrée had a salad with it that never came. When done we were never offered desert and had to get up and find someone to get the bill and again to pay it. This is not the way to treat diners if you want them to return. We won't.

Yelp
I've been going to Cafe Normandie for years and the service has gone DOWNHILL in 2022. It's clear the staff doesn't like their jobs one bit, and they take it out on the customers by slamming down silverware and menus on the table. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone celebrating a special occasion because the staff just makes it such an unpleasant atmosphere and you will get NO customer service. I hope the management finds nicer employees soon or they will start losing customers fast.

Yelp
Cafe Normandie is renowned for its delectable French cuisine and exceptional service. It's a fantastic place to indulge in authentic flavors while enjoying a memorable dining experience.

Yelp
Cafe Normandie was amazing. The calamari, escargot, and Steak Au Poive were perfectly prepared and topped off with a bottle of Chateaunuerf du pape. The service was first class!

Yelp
Back in the day, the food was much better. Now, it is average and the service is really slow. It's apparent that they lack the people necessary to operate effectively. The wine menu is very limited, which is disappointing for a French restaurant. I rate this as 2.5 stars, but Leanne is kind and gives it 4 stars.

Yelp
Waitress energy was excellent. Bubbly and informative of the menu. Baked Brie was absolutely delicious. Lobster ravioli was well cooked, generous portions of lobster. Veal Francais was where it kind of went down for me. The meat was delicious but the noodles was basically lemon. Maybe I don't understand French cuisine ‍

Yelp
Only had lunch: Super slow service. The waitress didn't seem to know what was happening. Didn't know the difference between croque Monsieur or madam (at a French bistro..), tomato soup was plain and had pieces of crab in it. Didn't seem fresh or flavorful. All the food was brought out at once without condiments or salt and pepper. After 10 mins into having our food we tracked down a busboy for pepper. The waitress also never refilled or asked us if we wanted more water. The wait for three soups, two salads, and the breakfast sandwich (which felt like ham lunch meat on bread..) was nearly 45 mins-- oddly slow for simple stuff. The place is dingy more than quant and on top of slooowww service, and mediocre food--Wouldn't recommend.
