The Best Réveillon Dinners in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Served through January 5, chef Virgile Brandel at the Higgins Hotel (part of the National WWII Museum complex), offers different ways to Réveillon. Choose a Petit Réveillon $55 menu anytime at Kilroy’s Bar (praline baked Alaska, oh my!), or a special $38 brunch Saturdays and Sundays at Café Normandie. And both Rosie’s and Kilroy’s are offering special Réveillon Cocktails." - Beth D’Addono

Easy holiday party 😊 Held our Woodward gathering at Café Normandie bar. Excellent staff, lovely ambiance, we even had a Jazz trio! My people are still talking about the generous and delicious food. A new tradition!

FABULOUS! Had a divine brunch and throughly enjoyed it. The crab stuffed tomatoes with green apple and toast was delicious! I had the baked loaded grits with a beautiful cheese crust. The Brioche French Toast was a real treat! Real Maple Syrup was a nice touch.

The service certainly left things to be desired. Staff were kind but absent. Coffee came without offering of cream and there were no spoons or stirrers. It was after a food had come that we were finally able to ask for creamer and by then coffee was like warm. Staff were numb and unapologetic about it. That being said - the food was delicious. My reddish was cooked perfectly. Husbands Flatbread was warm, not hot, but tasted very good. Lovely atmosphere.

We went for brunch and had no trouble getting a table. Our waiter was attentive and kind. The portions are decent and a little on the rich side - you won't leave hungry. For lighter fare, the avocado toast is delicious.

Cafe Normandie’s atmosphere is really beautiful! This resort just opened recently so it was not crowded at all, which gave us a nice, quiet dinner. I’m giving this a 4 star review because some of the rice in our gumbo was hard. We politely told our server, who immediately told the cooks, and we heard them say they were cooking a whole new batch. Other than that our food was delicious! I’ve never had mirliton dressing out anywhere (except for my mother’s at home) and it was so good! My husband even loved it and he usually doesn’t eat shrimp! Our server, Garyelle, was very sweet and helpful. Love this unique addition to New Orleans honoring the WWII era! We look forward to returning in the future!

Service and atmosphere were great. Food was just OK. Ham, spinach, and cheese omlete was cooked a little to long, taste of over cooked egg and butter. Grits were nice and creamy, coffee was good, but French toast had a raspberry jam that had an odd taste.

I enjoyed everything about the place. The coffee was super good. The coffee tasted fresh, not like it was on a warmer for days. The shrimp and grits is the highlight. The grits were smooth and creamy, the shrimp perfectly cooked, and the sauces was absolutely delicious.

I ended up here because all of the other breakfast places were closed. I was craving eggs Benedict. I was the only customer but after getting seated I didn't see a worker for at least 10 minutes. I finally gave my order and I waited for my food longer than I expected considering I was the only person there. The eggs Benedict had no flavor and the potatoes seemed to be something that came out of a bag. That would be fine if it wasn't so expensive. I waited for a while before I saw the server again to pay my bill. I would say it took almost an hour from being seated to walking out the door. I live across the street but I'll never waste $30+ for a mediocre at best breakfast. Go to luzianne a few blocks away.

Yelp
My husband and I took a break from the WWII Museum and ate lunch at Cafe Normandie, located in the Higgins Hotel across the street. The hotel decor is fun and retro. I ordered the Steak au Poivre burger, which was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. My husband ordered the Redfish sandwich, which was also delicious. The sauces that came on each sandwich gave them a great flavor boost. The both came with fries. Our server Avery was friendly and gave us great service. We both would come back again and even order the same sandwiches again.

Yelp
This shop is convenient. I ordered a pastry. Even after warming it, it was hard and dry. The display looks good but the quality lacking. I also had tea which is a tea bag in hot water. I liked this company they feature for tea. They also have a 12pm popcorn display which is hit or miss. Sometimes it's popped and other days the machine is off. One worker says it's free and another says it cost. The shop is cute with nice items to buy.

Yelp
Food was great. Prices are on par with the area & similar restaurants of the same ilk. Service was slow, but it was Fathers Day- they seemed understaffed for a holiday. Ambiance was great, live Jazz band & decor is chic.

Yelp
The food was decent and the person who seated us was very polite and respectful. He was a bit quiet which is totally normal. The place was mostly empty and it was breakfast time which was strange. But overall we enjoyed our experience we are staying here for a week so we might eat here again.

Yelp
Can be found inside the Higgins hotel across from the World War II museum. Most likely don't need to call ahead as we seated it right away, unaware, if it's only for hotel guests but I'm sure they wouldn't turn away a buying customer . Huge portion sizes enough to be shared. Great and fast service, the prices are 4 to 5 dollars different than room service if ordered at restaurant. Highly recommend the granola yogurt bowl (not pictured) but well worth the price for the portion. The pancakes had a light crusted topping which made them unique and tasteful. You can charge the bill to your room or a card. This is our go to hidden gem when staying in New Orleans.

Yelp
Staying at the hotel this restaurant is apart of and absolutely hated the food at the conference I attended so I don't care I paid $30 for wings and shrimp cocktail, it was tasty (the wings are a mild sweet chili but they do have buffalo sauce available). Very friendly service and a very cute comfy place to grab a meal.

Yelp
Good food. Expensive. Service is great. I've only eaten here for breakfast, and while everything is good, I think prices are a bit high. I was shocked to pay $5 for just a cup of hot coffee. Seem to be taking advantage of the customer there....

Yelp
After a morning of touring the National WWII Museum, we slipped away to grab lunch across the street at the Higgins Hotel and Cafe Normandie. At 11:30 a.m. the restaurant was almost empty. We seated ourselves and were puzzled about the lack of any type of host. We were served water and menus immediately. Then the wait began. It was a full fifteen minutes before our server, Avery, even noticed us. He apologized, which is appreciated, and took our order. My ice tea was served, delicious and fresh brewed. But again, no follow-up to check our table for refill. I ended up flagging down another employee because our server, who only had three tables including ours, was nowhere to be found. Our salads, a Caesar and a wedge with shrimp, arrived in good time and were very visually appealing. The wedge was excellent, somewhat deconstructed, with unique additions of pork belly versus bacon and a soft boiled egg. The traditional blue cheese crumbles were intensified with a warm blue cheese dressing, a nice contrast in temperature on the crisp, cold lettuce. It was delicious. My wife's Caesar was lightly dressed, a plus, and topped with large, crunchy fresh croutons that were tasty. The shaved Parmesan was appealing in looks, but bland in taste. So what could have been a strong rating for the Cafe Normandie, ends as just average because of poor service. Restaurants need to recognize that no matter how good you are back-of-house, you're only as good as the front. The Normandie management needs to correct this.

Yelp
Crab beignet and muffuletta was very good. Muffuletta is served as a pizza. Comfortable tables. Helpful wait staff. Decent prices.

Yelp
oh dear. Probably the worst coolinary meal I've ever had. I was excited to try this new restaurant and that they had a lunch option (with peach cobbler). I ended up here on a Sunday with a friend. We sat down and I asked if they had a drinks menu and was informed that they did not and were not serving alcohol. Ummmm what? So we both had water and moved on to course one. My friend had the Caesar and I had a corn and shrimp soup. My soup was the best course of the day. My friend said her Caesar was underdressed. I had the Margarita flatbread for my 2nd and she had the Cajun smoked flatbread for hers. My flatbread was drenched in so much truffle oil that it was overpowering plus who melts burrata? She said her was good so that was her best course. And then came dessert... I LOVE peach cobbler. It's hard to mess up. But this was more like a school cafeteria peach cobbler not a nice restaurants. And the ice cream was disgusting... with ice crystals and some separation. I knocked it off and ate my canned peaches. The service was OK. The restaurant was really empty... I guess because no brunch and the no booze situation. It's a pretty space though.

Yelp
We are staying at the Higgins hotel and came here for brunch today. Two omelettes, coffee, juice, toast, breakfast potatoes and beignets were $69 so it's expensive but it was very good. The coffee is exceptional. TJ was our server and he is top notch. Friendly and accommodating. Very pretty atmosphere. Nice restrooms too.

Yelp
Gorgeous gorgeous restaurant. Food/service ...mediocre. Got salmon quiche which was good, but covered in sour cream?? The side green salad was drenched in balsamic and it was too stinky to eat. The po boys my colleagues got looked to also be drenched in sauce. The wedge salad my other friend got looked like it had brown leaves forming. Our waitress was also a little abrasive. She seemed to almost "bark" at us when asked a question. 3 of us weren't even offered a drink beyond water? Not a great experience here.

Yelp
Wow! Great food and beautiful ambiance! I love the timeless decor. It allows you to reminisce about what things may have looked like in your grandparents time. Food wise, they have vegetarian options along with plenty of choices for the meat eaters in the group. The port salut cheese & potato gratin is out of this world! They have creative desserts along with a classic: New Orleans beignets served warm with a side chocolate sauce. The best beignets I've had in Nola, trust me or check it out for yourself. After dinner, do yourself a favor & head up to the rooftop bar Rosie's. Check out the beautiful views of the city, you won't regret it.

Yelp
Stayed at The Higgins and stopped by for breakfast. The waffles were chewy and the BLT was burnt. Couldn't finish neither of them. It was probably the worst breakfast I've had in the last decade. Service could also be better.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast in a gorgeous hotel, a great start to the day. Server was excellent and attentive, French toast was exceptional, only negative was the host was a little disinterested and off putting.

Yelp
2 stars just because nice room and bar but my experience Tues. Dec. 3 was not a good one. Didn't think lunch menu was great, flatbreads, sandwiches and salads (with Iceberg lettuce) and only 2 entrees (steak, and mussels) but understanding they just opened I thought I'd give a try. I ordered duck gumbo and duck confit grilled cheese and was asked if I wanted the lunch combo of half sandwich and soup. Told server no wanted bowl of gumbo then full sandwich. What I got was lunch combo on a board, except full sandwich. The sandwich is my main complete 2 slices of gerneric white bread with crust removed, thin layer of roasted duck, it wasn't confit, and a slice of cheese for $13.00. That sandwich looks like a snack they given a 3yo at pre school and it doesn't come with fries or chips or little side salad like most other places in same category. The gumbo was another $12.00 so my food was $25.00 ++ and I left hungry, total ripoff. As a local I can't recommend this restaurant. See picture of meal and you judge.
