Coronavirus Diary Day 159 - 8/20/2020
When I was invited to Cafe Olé, I thought It was a French restaurant since it sounds like Cafe Au Lait. Lmao
I was in the mood for Paella for a while, and this place was right up my alley. 4 of us were seated in front. As we perused their online menus, we knew right away that the bill would be very expensive, but you know what? It doesn't hurt to splurge once in a while.
We started with a pitcher of Red Sangria -- Man, I miss having sangria in summer! As for appetizers, we ordered 2 orders of Pulpo A La Plancha (Imported Octopus Tentacle from Spain, marinated with garlic and olive oil and served on a hot skillet), $20 apiece; and Champiñones Rellenos Con Carnes Cangrejo (Stuffed Mushrooms with chopped crabmeat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese and shrimp), $14. They were both amazing especially the octopus tentacles. They were huge and tender.
We ordered another pitcher of Red Sangria while we waited for our main courses which included: Filete De Pargo Pescadora (Filet Red Snapper, shrimp, clams and mussels in a light tomato sauce, garlic and a hint of white wine), $35; Chuletas De Cordero A La Perrila (Imported premium Australian rack of lamb, marinated with sea salt, garlic, olive oil and a hint of white wine), $35; and Plato Mediterraneo (Seafood combo in a light sauce made with chopped tomatoes, onions, garlic and white wine), $32. Every dish was well presented and full of flavor. We were gonna wrap up our dinner with a dessert, but hey were out of Tres Leches that night.
I was on my third drink and felt tipsy already. It was fun to be out and about with friends.
I rate Cafe Olé 3.5 stars, and I may come back only if I'm in a mood to splurge.
