"We often go to Tex Mex Joe’s for brunch because of the shady deck out back, the frozen margaritas, and breakfast plates like chilaquiles and the huevos rancheros. We also like the infinitely customizable breakfast tacos with a wide variety of ingredients, all served on homemade corn, flour, or spinach tortillas (corn tortillas with spinach mixed in so they’re bright green). But when we’re feeling particularly indecisive—especially after a late night out—we’ve come to rely on the “Tacos Locos” menu with more creative combinations for breakfast tacos that we probably would have never come up with on our own, like one with carne guisada, scrambled eggs, and cheddar cheese.  What to get: Carne guisada, scrambled eggs, and cheddar cheese; Hashbrowns, egg, and pico de gallo. Good quick serve tex mex food like Chipotle and Qdoba. They use quality ingredients, but my wife thought they were 3 stars, so there you go. I also thought their prices were higher compared to the competition. Do give them a try and see for yourself!

Went in at 9:34pm on a Thursday and they were already closing the store down, soda machines, all the toppings were gone. The lady that served me seemed bothered that I was there. I ordered enchiladas and when she put my beans on the plate she just flopped the beans and it’s juice all over of the enchiladas and threw the plate in the oven and continued closing the store(cleaning). I couldn’t even get lettuce or sour cream. If I wasn’t starving I would’ve just said no thank you. They need better management. Your employees shouldn’t be making to go plates when a customer is at the ordering line. Not the first time I’ve had subpar service at this specific location but it will be my last. Update: Was not edible threw it away.

I used to visit this Café Rio often, but after my recent experience, I won’t be returning. I ordered a Tostada bowl and was shocked when they tried to charge me extra for a slightly larger portion of Pico de Gallo. I've never been charged for extra Pico anywhere else, whether it's at Chipotle, California Tortilla, or any other Mexican restaurant—it's always been complimentary. To make matters worse, the staff (the manager) was rude when I questioned this charge. The bowl was also the smallest I've ever received, which only added to my disappointment. If this is indeed a new policy, it’s a ridiculous one, and it’s a shame that customer service has taken such a downturn here. I won’t be back, and I’m very disappointed in what used to be a favorite spot of mine.

Google
Cafe Rio is truly in a league of its own. The cheese quesadillas are nothing short of spectacular—perfectly crisp on the outside, ooey-gooey on the inside, and always made with the freshest ingredients. Every bite is a testament to their commitment to quality. But it’s not just the food that sets this place apart; the employees here are exceptional. Their warmth and attentiveness transform a simple meal into a delightful experience. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, the friendly staff will make your day with their genuine smiles and excellent service. Highly recommended for an outstanding dining experience!

Google
I'm a big fan of their taco Tuesday and tostada Wednesday deals. It's a good amount of tasty food for cheaper than any other place we order from, especially with their coupons/points system. The sweet pork reminds me of a favorite burrito place in Colorado too, so they've got me on nostalgia as well. I keep coming back!

Google
Great food, visited many times. However the serving size depends largely on the person serving you. Their Tres Leche cake and Pollo/carne asada are so good :)

Google
I got a salad and I also had extra add-ons so the salad bowl itself was $22 and for that price I expect to get everything that I ordered in it except when I just received my food I didn’t get anything I asked for. extra chicken didn’t get that, I asked for the tortilla flakes, corn, Didn’t get that. I got the wrong sauce and I didn’t even receive my Elote. The rice and beans were mashed to the bottom and they barely gave me some. It was unappetizing absolutely not.

Google
glad there is one more quick food choice in this location, but that's the best thing I can say about this place. Almost any other restaurant in the region would be better in terms of food taste and quality. depressingly bland. Employees look miserable too.

Yelp
They offered me a free order since the screwed up the last knees I ordered the same thing, but it's totally different! The worst thing is that the best part was the fajita veggies (green pepper, onion, red pepper) but tonight it's only 4 slices of red pepper! A steak bowl with no onions? This place whack. They don't even chop lettuce properly.been here 4 times and the order has been incorrect every time. I also recommend getting double meat because although the meat is good, there's not a ton of it, and the upcharge for double is reasonable considering the quality of the meat. As many other reviewers have said, there's staff is rude. Usually a business will put their most friendly employee at the register and at the start of the assembly line because these are the people who will speak the most. Don't expect these employees to want to talk to you. I try to be friendly and say please and thank you but they'll look up at the ceiling as they pass you your bag and "hmmm" was the response I got when I said thank you...for screwing up my order! Even the hibachi across the street is way friendlier than these people and they don't even speak English.their salsa game is also terrible. The corn salsa is the only one edible, the rest are worse than Taco Bell sauce, way worse...Taco Bell diablo sauce is 10x better than the Habanero sauce at Cafe Rio. The green salsa is hot and tastes like blended carrots. There are zero Mexican flavors here.

Yelp
Just left the Rockville location. Picked up dinner for myself. I love Cafe Rio. In my opinion, much better than Chipotle. I love the Rockville location. Always a positive experience. Special shout out tonight to Karla and her team. Very professional and pleasant. Merry Christmas to the entire team.

Yelp
Good place to come for a quick lunch and am a big fan of their weekday deals. Would recommend coming here for Taco Tuesday as you can build your own tacos for just $2.69 each and the portions are generous. The food was prepared pretty fast and right in front of you, as they grill the meat before assembling the tacos. The one thing that I would note is that the meat was pretty salty. Not if it was just this time or if it's a regular thing.

Yelp
When we lived in Maryland Cafe Rio was our favorite Mexican food, beating out most sit down Mexican restaurants. Their portions, the flavors of everything from the meats they use to their black beans, and the homemade tortillas make them the best. We always stop in now on our return and it's the only Mexican food we will eat on our visits as we now live in San Antonio. I know it's not traditional Barbacoa but I love their sweet pork Barbacoa . I also like how you are able to customize your meal with toppings and additions as you go down the line and the additions are always so fresh.

Ariel M.

Yelp
The food is amazing but the service is terrible. I got a salad to go, and the lady that was attending me was very rude although the overall restaurant is very clean as I was eating my salad I had a pull a chunk of hair out of my mouth.

Yelp
This review is for delivery on 5.25.21. My better half wanted take out, I gave this place a second chance. We ordered two bowls, one spicy hatch Chile pork and shredded chicken. They both were good. The food was fresh. The tortilla base was tasty along with rice and beans, lettuce, cilantro, choice of meat and pico de gallo on the side. Beware, the portions are large. We were able to eat about a third of it. If I had known, I would have ordered one for two of us to share. We also had an order of chips and queso. For dessert, tres leches which was sweet but good. The order was packaged nicely, so we could easily store our leftovers. Enjoyed the meal. This is separate but... What made it more nice is the delivery person placed the food in a chair on our porch instead of on the step and waited for us to come out to get it.

Yelp
First and last time here. I found a pice of paper towel mixed in with my salad. I thought it was maybe a bell pepper skin but it had the paper towel seam... also they just throw in chunks of cilantro with the stem into the salad. Couldn't take the time to pick the cilantro leaf...Food is definitely not handled well. Gross lol

Yelp
Food was waterlogged because the lettuce was not drained well! Server did not listen to instructions well, I asked to have crispy corn taco on side and an extra side of dressing. He was pleasant in greeting though. I've visited the Olney store many times since it opened, and of late (last 5 visits) disappointing. No longer a fan. The store itself was the same, in its last hour of the days operation. I hope it gets better.

Yelp
Please allow me to write a review. I frequent this place on a regular basis. My kid and I arrived here. I too am a veteran of the army. I placed one order of three tacos. I requested toppings. One of the servers acted in a discourteous manner. Servers typically inquire as to what you would like to order. Her voice carried a tone of disdain. She gestured with her hand and said, whatever whatever. I explained the matter to the manager, and she grinned. I've never had a worse experience at a fast-food franchise restaurant than this one. I frequent this place on a regular basis. The team will fail miserably if the leadership is bad.

Yelp
Ordered the Mexican Salad with shredded chicken, rice, blackbeans, roughly an ounce of bland guac., lettuce, and what would have been around 3/4 oz. of diced tomatoes I asked for a 2nd scoop so I ended up with around 1.5 oz of diced tomatoes. Overall, it was filling and, at around $11, cheap. They're also open late which was convenient. Probably would have given this 2 stars if the woman at the counter wasn't nice enough to give me a 2nd scoop of diced tomatoes.

Yelp
ALWAYS check your take out order before you walk out of this restaurant because they NEVER get orders right. The last THREE times I ordered from here they forgot something. Today, unfortunately, I forgot to check and got all the way home before noticing that they forgot the guacamole... so I am out $3.00 but, more importantly, what I was looking for ward to the most!

J D.

Yelp
Portions were huge and service was friendly. Unfortunately, my food was way oversalted.

Yelp
First, we drove 20 mins to come to this location because we so happened to be near a cafe rio, once arrive at restaurant there was no line we were literally waiting to be attended, because the workers were toward the back.. once the worker approached the line she just lifted a finger indicating to give her a min and begin to work on mobile orders while we been waiting for 5 mins... there was no food left on the line the worker was just scrapping the sides if what's left. we still decided to give this restaurant a shot by deciding to dine in 3 bites in of my boyfriend's salad he this was in the last bite, he literally took it out his mouth and this caused us to throw the whole meal away 40$ to waste due do the inappropriate preparation from the kitchen. luckily he is a chill guy and stop me from saying some but this later on caused food poising so i decided it was time to take an appropriate approach!!!! DONT DINE HERE

Yelp
Been eating at various CR's throughout the area for years and they all never disappoint. This location is no exception, the addition of birria tacos to their menu is welcome, and as always they have the best taco bar barbacoa in my humble opinion. The locations are always open and clean, and the service is always nice efficient and quick. This borders on fast food... but with much better ingredients I assure you. If you can find one give it a try I assure you it'll be better than any other Tex Mex taco bar food you had before.

Yelp
This is only getting 2 stars for the quality of the food. The experience in here was terrible for a first time customer and I wouldn't recommend going here with all the other options. I ordered a burrito to build, and the lady taking my service couldn't comprehend what I wanted. She insisted on closing up my burrito before I could even finish telling her what I wanted in it. Then she proceeds to look at me crazy and peer over to her coworkers with that "this guy is crazy look." I just don't understand why have a place for people to create their own style of food and your staff can't do that correctly or offer recommendations. Oh and did I even mention for a handheld burrito that was built poorly and fell apart in my hands, $17!!! Do yourself a favor and don't bother trying this place out.

Yelp
A welcome arrival in a rather dearth area of food (I sure miss Gui Lin), besides Ledo Pizza and Fallsgrove Shopping Center. I was excited to try this place and although just opened, I need to come back after a few hiccups. I've never been to a Cafe Rio and didn't really know what to expect, maybe another Chipotle like place. What has it going is the many protein options! So much more but I didn't see salmon here, as I thought it was on their online menu. They have daily food specials too. Saturday is shrimp tacos and should have just ordered that. Nino quesadilla is free for little kids. Great. I was a bit surprised when the person I was ordering the food said oh u can get a protein too. I was like for nino quesadilla too? He said yes. I was like wow. Ok. Should have known better. I was charged a kids quesadilla (later I was told nino only came with cheese; great tell that to the person I was ordering the food from). Next, can I get the burrito with beans and rice but have rice outside of burrito. Sure! Well after I paid, it was a $1 extra. For real? Although the tortillas are freshly made, which is great, it comes off too soft and too hard to hold a quesadilla. Can you cook the tortilla a tad longer? Same with burrito enchilada style, with the amount of sauce they put outside the burrito (not inside) and the melted cheese, it came to be an oily mess. $29 before app discount (download the app to get $5 off) for this makes me wonder if I'd come back. Give it two more chances, but only after the dust settles. On some several positive notes, everything tasted very fresh, gigantic portions, very clean, and great coke and other drink selections! Nice outdoor seating too. I've never tasted an authentic horchata drink, but tasted alright to me. It's like a milk and cinnamon drink.

Esther W.

Yelp
Tortillas are so fresh here and on Tuesdays (Taco Tuesdays obviously), tacos are only $2.50 each. I got the pulled pork and it was a sweet pork, which was a pleasant surprise. Service here could be improved but isn't a deal breaker.

Brian H.

Yelp
Beyond expectations and family friendly. Cafe Rio doesn't seem to be the move very much, but every time I go, it's always good and better each time. I need to start making it the move. I think I like it more then Chipotle (clear competition and comparison). They have great deals (coupons), keep an eye open and their grilled chicken is so good. You can get a bowl (in a soft tortilla shell), burrito, tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, quesadillas and nachos. Lots of drink options beyond the soda machine (Horchata is amazing, full of cinnamon flavor, try it). Staff is very friendly, this location just opened and it's super helpful and want to take care of everyone. Family friendly because they have the El Niño for kids, which is a cheese quesadilla and it's free, for 12 and under, so with a family of 4 and the coupon we spent $14.00, can't beat that can you? Without the coupon it would have been a little more than $25, so hope that helps with price point. All in all in a great visit, will choose here over Chipotle in the future. Get the app, lots of rewards.

Yelp
I can see why this place only gets 3 stars. It has the potential but needs to fix some things. As a 1st time customer I was super bummed I couldn't try the carne asada tacos. It was only 7ish and they ran out and were not making more. Apparently, there was only one person that could cook it weird but ok. Got the regular steak instead. Good steak well seasoned, but the cilantro came with stems and they did not have just plain onions as a topping. I asked for one corn and one flour and definitely got 2 flours. Also ordered the sweet pork quesadilla. Also good well flavored and indeed sweet. My only complaint here the guac was brown. The "famous queso" was not good whatsoever (and I made an extra trip back because they forgot my chips for the queso) anywho it tasted like watered-down cheese sauce blended with marinara sauce not even salsa. NO BUENO! Mango lemonade and Strawberry lemonade were super good! I don't want to write them off, but maybe a different location next time.

Yelp
Returned for the first time in a while for their Tuesday $7.99 burrito special. They don't advertise it very well since it wasn't on the app, although they did have a Taco Tuesday special on there. This was also my first time dining in and their mint limeade is so good! Couldn't get enough of that, I probably filled up at least 3 times. The burrito was good enchilada-style with quite a lot of beef. Gotta return for that limeade!

Breawna R.

Yelp
My Husband ordered takeout from this location for dinner tonight. He used a buy one get one deal. The chicken tacos I received were disgusting. The flour tortilla was thick and hard like it was stale making it difficult to bite. The cilantro inside of the taco wasn't prepared properly so the long string of a stem would come out with one bite. The chicken was dry like it'd been over cooked. I was so disgusted by the texture of the tortilla in the first bite that I spit it out immediately. In an attempt to salvage the meal i took the chicken out of each tortilla; putting the cilantro and tortillas aside. I tried to make a bowl with the rice and black-beans but the chicken was just too crumbly, dry, and overdone. I ended up throwing the whole meal away. The only thing I didn't toss into the garbage from it was the mint limeade beverage I got. I ended up letting my husband have it.

Alyssa H.

Yelp
This is my sister's favorite restaurant. Their nachos are excellent and we always get them for movie night. Definitely recommend them for delivery!

Janine T.

Yelp
Same delicious quality as the Olney Café Rio, but no student discount and I felt cheated on the guac. Guac is $2 extra and the server only filled the side container barely halfway. I asked him to fill it more, and he got it to maybe 3/4 full. If I'm going to pay $2 for guacamole, I want the side container to be completely filled. Other than that, the pork tacos are delicious as expected and the location was clean.

Antony R.

Yelp
I love Cafe Rio! This is my first time at this location. I wish I could come more often but there's not one close to my job. Taco Tuesdays are obviously the best deal with $2 tacos if it's still the same but any day is good also cuz there's a deal of the day. This location looks a little smaller than the other ones but it's definitely clean and colorful inside. Employees were friendly and meal was delicious. Would def recommend.

Y Jose G.

Yelp
My family used to like this place. I was walking in today and placing an order for four. (My kids love the chicken/cheese quesadilla). At the beginning of the order, the server pulverized poorly (an almost ridiculous quantity) of cheese on top of the tortilla--not allowing the cheese to melt to the tortilla as usual. When I see that, morally as a customer, I have been forced to ask the server to add more cheese to my children's quesadilla; I get shocked to see why the cheese was not as abundant as before. After, the server, was "basically counting" the pieces of stake/chicken on my order; When asked the server why they changed? , the response I received was that _ the management asked to use less cheese. I was returning home very disappointed when even my kids noticed the difference in the quality.

Jo M.

Yelp
I haven't actually visited this location. However, my brother goes often and loves this place! He always brings home a Tres Leches cake for me! It's one of the better ones I've had cause it's moist and creamy but firm. I like that it's not mushy like the ones I've had from Sardi's and Canela's.

Austin C.

Yelp
By far the worst cafe rio we have ever visited! We arrived before 9pm with more than an hour left to closing. They were out of steak and refused to cook any despite the fact we planned to order 3 meals with steak and the people in line in front of us wanting to order 2 meals with steak. (The server specifically asked the manager if we could have more cooked and he refused! The rice and beans were hard and crusty, the queso cheese hard and burnt across the top. The side lettuce for meals ran out and they didn't want to give us the regular lettuce. The limes had white spots on them and the serving bar was disgusting. Then they tried to question wether our family of 5 could "afford" to buy the guacamole and sour cream. We assured them yes we can afford the fee, to which they asked "are you sure"? Avoid this place trust us, tables were covered in food, bathroom was closed for "cleaning" our entire visit.

Alexander K.

Yelp
I think this establishment is expensive for what it is; fast casual mexican i.e. Chipotle. You can definitely taste the difference when eating it, but I would say it is marginal and not worth the premium charged for it. If I had to choose and really didn't feeling like paying the premium, I would definitely choose Chipotle over this any day. I ordered the "burrito with the tortilla on the side" since there wasn't an explicit option for it on the menu. The rice was definitely different than chipotle, much softer and the grains larger/puffed up. The chicken and steak were decent, but again, charged at a premium. The salsa (pico de gallo, fresca, and tomatillo) and the flour tortilla were good as well; it took quite awhile to get the tortilla since it was being heated manually. Also, while I don't like to rate based on service, it was very slow albeit friendly. There was only one other customer ordering in front of me and it was painfully slow. I can't imagine how it is during a lunch hour rush.

Samantha L.

Yelp
Cafe Rio Mexican Grill is a fast food restaurant that serves made to order burritos, salads, enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, tostada, nachos, and chip and salsa (with/without queso or guacamole). I got a flyer in the mail about Cafe Rio opening a location near my workplace so I convinced some co-workers to join for the experience. I ordered my first burrito. It consisted of flour tortilla wrapped with rice, baked beans, pinto beans, and grilled chicken, topped with melted cheese and a mild tomatillo sauce, and served with shredded lettuce. It was delicious and quite filling. It gave me a food coma but I'd return in the near future.

Rosanna W.

Yelp
Super fan of this place, newly discovered for me. I've seen it before, but never went in to try their food until my friend decided to stop by (we were close at a friends house) and he mentioned that the food is pretty damn good and that I should try it ... so that I did! I went inside, COVID-friendly, 6 feet apart stickers in line, I ordered the Salad (which is ginormous and TBH not a real real salad you're expecting.) with Sweet Barbacoa! They STUFF your salad bowl, they warm up the tortilla, you get tortilla toppings, can ask for beans and rice, cheese, lettuce ... with sauce on the side. They give you a lot of meat ... all just for $10. I think its definitely worth it. It was so good, I went back 3 times already! When I tell you its STUFFED and HUGE, it is. I have yet to try their other items on the menu, but I'm so hooked on this Sweet Barbacoa Salad .... its hard not to get it :)

Lena P.

Yelp
We've been patrons of Cafe Rio for years and this place has recently gone downhill. They screw up orders all the time, if you ever order carry out from this location, make sure you check everything before you leave the store. Today we ordered 3 entrees and 2 sides and they messed up almost half the orders (didn't give us 1 of the entrees, and gave us 1 incorrect side). We also have been ordering the small pork quesadilla for months and the quesadilla they gave us today was half the size it use to be (literally 1 less tortilla is used for it than what we've been getting before). My husband asked whether this was a recent change and the manager insultingly tried to convince my husband that it has always been this way. If this was a change to their menu, they should have just explained it. Trying to gaslight us about this was extremely unprofessional and makes us question the integrity of this place. The food still tastes great and that is why I'm giving this 2 stars, but the customer service here is absolutely horrible. Hopefully this restaurant can figure it out before they lose all their patrons.

Jose S.

Yelp
I don't usually write comments but yesterday I ordered 2 orders of double tacos by Uber eats and I only got one of my order(this already happened before. Do they check the receipt? To double check if everything it's correct with the orders ) I decided to called the restaurant, I don't understand why the person who answered me hang out on me after I explained her one of my order was missing, what a bad customer services.

Estela L.

Yelp
I was in the area and stopped by to get food from here. Based on the average review rating I was expected to get a mediocre experience. Instead, I was surprised of how good the food tasted. I ordered Sweet Pork Barbacoa, where the meat had flavor and tasted delicious. It's not average burrito from Chipotle. Basically, You get the rice and meat with options of beans which opted. It also comes with salad on the side which I wished I had known so that I would've requested dressing to go with it. In addition, it was confusing where to go for pick order as there wasn't visible signs. Overall, I recommend the food here and will be returning.

Mary D.

Yelp
This cafe rio isn't any more special than the others. I went before the lunch rush and was frustrated when the worker was rushing through my order. Firstly, she asked me what I wanted then proceeded to put rice after my specifying I didn't want any. So she began again. Then, when I got to the second half for toppings the young man asked if I'd like guac and pico. To which I said yes. Then he proceeded to nearly forget the pico. The guac was nearly all brown and I didn't notice until it was already on my salad. The guac portion was exceptionally minimal, a teeny little scoop. Great. Further the soda from the machine was flat. Overall, I wouldn't return. If it weren't for the food being up to par beyond the guac and the fact that the outside seating was lovely today, I would've rated lower.

L H.

Yelp
I made the mistake of ordering from this as it popped up as a new restaurant on DoorDash. The food was disgusting; we didn't eat it. Ordered 2 guacamoles, and they sent one, but charged for two. The attached picture is the kid's quesadilla. Never, never again.

Alan L.

Yelp
Cafe rio olney used to be our weekly Tuesday date and smack in the middle between the both of us. So when I heard cafe rio was opening up here, you bet I was super excited. Naturally, I went to cafe rio on a Tuesday by the vibe was definitely different than the Olney one. Parking is quite hard to find after the influx of customers brought to this center by Trader Joe's. Service was quick but I think there's definitely some miscommunication between staff on who's order belonged to which customer. Their Tuesday special was the salad or burrito. Burrito was hot when I got it but felt like there wasn't a lot of meat as compared to Cafe Rio Olney. Overall, it satisfied my craving but would probably stick to Cafe Rio Olney as my go-to.

Tessa A.

Yelp
My friend and I came to Cafe Rio for lunch today and we were both extremely disappointed with our experience. We ordered two chicken burritos with a side of guacamole and the order came out to be $28??? We were both shocked especially seeing their menu which states that burritos are $9.49 Anyways, once I saw my receipt I noticed they charged us $3 for guacamole, $0.50 cents for each salad dressing we order on the side and $10.49 for each burrito which included "grilled chicken" instead of their disgusting poor quality meat. NO WHERE on the menu or the counter did it state that it was an extra $1 for grilled chicken and that salad dressing would cost extra if you ordered a burrito. Also, I was told by an employee that their side of guacamole was $1.50 NOT $3. Yes, I know its a few dollars that I am writing about but at the end of the day it is principle and communication is very important. Their food, especially the rice and beans were staled. It looked like it was sitting out all day. The guacamole was turning brown and their grilled chicken was overly salty. The trays where they serve our food on were all dirty and even the lady at the cash register told her manager (I believe) that she is "disappointed by how dirty all the trays are". Cafe Rio literally turned me off big time and I think I am done craving Mexican food for awhile. Take your hard working money else where because this restaurant is not only overpriced but also has poor quality food.

Jason R.

Yelp
Since they opened about a year ago I've been a huge fan of this place. I eat there almost every week. The food is well priced and delicious. The staff is friendly. If you're new to Cafe Rio know that it's not as quick as a Chipotle; They take your order and will throw some or all of it on the grill or in the oven to heat up. Be prepared to wait a bit longer but it's worth the wait.

Yelp
First time visiting cafe Rio got the Burrito which was definitely fulfilling. The staff was real cool and nice. Peep the burrito in pic. Would def come back and recommend this spot.

Yelp
If you are a regular at Chipotle...Change your mind!!! Café Rio isn't far from the Chipotle at Fallsgrove, and I say it is waaaaaaaaay better! My favorite order is cheese quesadillas (I'm a vegetarian), but their chips and queso are super good too and very filling. I've heard from friends that their steak and pulled chicken is really, really good. Try their desserts too - they are super tasty. If you come at a peak time, you will experience a long wait, but it is worth it. Download the app and like, every four visits you get a free $10 to spend. Always be sure to have them scan your app! The service is pretty darn fast, so the wait isn't too bad. Even during a busy time there is always a spot to sit in the restaurant.

Yelp
Yay! Cafe Rio is open! This area really needed a fresh face. I've been here twice in the past week. Each time, there was a long line that moved quickly, and each time I didn't see one employee who was letting the constant flow of customers throw them off their game. They have a great selection, no repetitive menu choices here. Tacos, enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas, salads, nachos... and the protein choices just keep going. Their menu is vegan friendly too! I've mostly stuck to getting the salads here. I love that you can add fresh cilantro on top! Both dressings are tasty, they have a creamy tomatillo dressing and a cilantro lime. Everything here tastes so fresh and they make their own tortillas, it makes such a difference. Cafe Rio also offers kids a free small quesadilla w the purchase of an entree. Its located just a few minutes between either exit 6 or exit 9 on 270, right off Darnestown Road.

Yelp
I write this as I'm standing in line to order my food. The wait is extremely long. I tried to come here before, but after standing in line for 15 minutes, decided to eat somewhere else. Someone needs to train these people to work faster. It's called fast food. FAST. Food. EDIT: It took about 50 minutes to get the food. 50 minutes. Food was pretty good but definitely not worth wasting 50 more minutes of my time.

Yelp
My partner had their team lunch for Brightview ordered from here today and he requested no dairy as he is lethally allergic. Low and effing behold there was cheese melted at the bottom or his order and after one bite he had to leave work and go to the ER.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I went there years ago because I was working in that area of the county and I was hungry. This is what Mexican food should taste like and be like. The staff were so incredibly friendly. I have told a few contacts about this place. The review is a long time coming because I'm just getting into Yelp.

Yelp
Once again I fell for the Cafe Rio curse. I first tried cafe rio in their California, MD location and just like that location this location really did not fair any better. Service when ordering was extremely inconsistent and SLOW!!!!!!! I mean SLOW!!!!!!!! Again no sour cream in the burrito so ok I got a side of it. It took this guy 5 times to get my burrito correct and all I ordered was a chicken burrito with rice and cheese, No beans. Cheese on top with sauce. Then once it comes out of the conveyer in the oven he places it on the counter and it sits there because the person at the next station is scatter brained with what she needs to do. The food this time was a bit bland. NEVER again. Sorry but this across 2 stores is enough for me.

Yelp
What a nice addition to the Travilah square in north Potomac! Got to check out Cafe Rio on their grand opening day. If you saw on Instagram, they are doing a promo where you can buy one salad or burrito and get a second free! If you also go into this specific store, you can download the cafe Rio app and they got a special code for you to use to get a $10 credit :) my friend and I grabbed dinner here and the staff were wonderful. They were friendly, and the service was quick. I got half sweet pork and half fire chicken in a salad and it definitely satisfied my craving and I thought they did pretty well on their opening day! Unlike some other stores on opening day, Cafe Rio had LOTS of staff present and you can tell they wanted to make sure we were all satisfied with our meals. The only other cafe Rio I've gone to was the one in Olney so it's nice to have one here closer to home. :) Will be coming back again!

Yelp
Not a great location! First time I ordered my food online for pickup and made the mistake of not checking it out before leaving. The order was all wrong with missing condiments, sides, and wrong meat choice. Tried calling the location but gave up after 30 minutes of continuous ringing. Thought I'd give it another go but this time I ordered my food there. Still messed up my order. Asked for steak enchiladas and got chicken, which I didnt realize until I was being rung up and at that point I didn't want to waste the food so I kept it. The guacamole looked like it had been sitting out all day and smelled off to me. Just not impressed with the service here and won't be returning.

Yelp
An overpriced version of Chipotle. Large portions. Paid $36 for a lunch for two - 2 burritos 2 drinks and a tortilla chips side! The drink there is good, some traditional Mexican drinks, but amount of sugar is overdone. No way they rang up that order correctly- $36? Wow.

Yelp
No sanitizer available inside the restaurant and the restroom was closed. I feel like restaurants should have sanitizer available because of the pandemic.
