Hojicha delicious! Cafe ambiance is super cool! Love the music! Wow! Such a great addition to Soma!

Super friendly staff despite the busyness! Super clean and the lounge/bar area is divided by a curtain. The matcha did take 15 minutes to come out but it was expected due to the long lines. The matcha included injeolmi powder on top which I never thought would go well together but it was delicious! There’s also outdoor seating which is super nice as well :)

Everything about this place is fantastic. I highly recommend you try their drinks. The matcha drink (MATCHA EINSPÄNNER) is by far the best I had in the city! The coffee/drink director really knows what he’s doing.

Finally, we have a cafe offering amazing Matcha Einspanners in SF! Out of all my favorite cafes in the city for matcha, Shoji definitely stands out because of their Matcha Einspanner, which in my opinion, is the most worth-it item to order here. It's perfectly balanced with the sweet cream on top and strong matcha flavor (not too sweet at all). I also tried their Seasonal Latte (iced) which had a house-made Vanilla, Cardamom, and Brown Sugar syrup as well as their Hojicha Latte (hot). I'd probably pass on both of those next time and always opt for the Matcha Einspanner, or if I'm feeling less fancy, try their regular iced Matcha Latte instead. Note that while the interior of the cafe is beautiful and the tables honestly look perfect for studying and getting work done, they don't offer WiFi. A bit disappointing since the seating area to me seems like the perfect place to focus and get work done, but I understand their perspective as well. Regardless, a great place to chat with friends either inside or outside on their patio. Once you step behind the curtains separating the front of the cafe where you order, you'll feel like you entered into a whole new vibe (almost like a bar!). Will definitely be back for their Matcha drinks and I'm excited and hopeful that they'll add more Einspanner variations to their menu. Love that they're in the FiDi area as well for a quick caffeine pick-me-up!

I came in during lunchtime and there was a small line out the door. Upon entering we noticed that the interior was well decorate and the menu was small and specialized in matcha. Their special was the matcha einspanner but I opted out since I thought it might be too sweet. I ended up getting an iced matcha drink with no additives. The other side of the wall is a bar with a nice vibe to chat/have a date. Plenty of room out back and has a kitchen. Looking at social media and everyone's drink inside, I assume their specialty was matcha. The matcha drink I got was a bit bland and tastes milky(I guess it was just matcha and whole milk) but I expected a more matcha taste. Might come back to check out the back bar!

I was so excited to see this upscale cafe open up in the SoMa area. It's located at the bottom of the Pacific Bell building. They're only open on the weekdays until 3pm but I hope they extend their hours. Upon entering the cafe, there was a short line outside but it went by pretty quickly. We waited 5-10 minutes on Wednesday at 1pm. The cafe is pretty small and there isn't a ton of space to sit at the front. However, once you walk through the curtains, there's a whole bar and outdoor patio in the back. You can sit at the bar or lounge chairs to enjoy your drink. A ton of people were doing work here but they do play Japanese pop, so it could be loud at times. We ordered the Matcha Einspanner which came out to almost $8. It's quite steep for the size of the drink. It was mostly cream on top with a ton of ice cubes. I thought the cream over powered the matcha. It was also a bit hard to drink through their glass cup. Not sure if I'd come back for their matcha but I'd like to try their coffee next time.

Decided to stop by after seeing this place a lot on social media! I came by around 11AM and there was a bit of line. When I ordered, staff kindly let me know it would be another 10-15 minute wait. I figured I'd stick around since I made the trek anyway. I went with the famed matcha einspanner with an oat milk alternative. My total came out to $9 which is pretty steep for the size. The wait indeed took around 10 minutes. The immediate cafe space is tiny but there is also an area with a bar and booth seating for folks who weren't taking their drinks to go. The matcha itself was disappointing. While the kinako powder was a delicious touch, the overall matcha flavor was lacking. Additionally, it was grainy - not sure if it was from the drink, the cream, or the kinako powder. Overall, I'm happy to say I have tried Shoji, but I'm not sure if I would return for their matcha.

I love the service. It's so clean and efficient. Love that you can sit and relax on the booths and enjoy your drinks. They have Japanese music playing on the background. Makes me feel like I'm back in Japan. I ordered the season latte. You can really taste the vanilla and hojicha. Perfect on a cold day like today. For matcha lovers this is a perfect latte. You can really taste the matcha and it isn't too sweet!

This is one of the more aesthetic matcha einspanner's I've had in San Francisco! You absolutely need to order this "for here" and enjoy it either in one of their comfy lounges or at the bar. I came on a weekday morning, and it was just a 5-10 min wait. The service here was SO good!! The staff remembers your name when you order and bring your order to your table (even though this is just coffee!) Everything is super clean and modern. Okay, onto the matcha. I love the foam they added on top, and the matcha flavor was good! Not the strongest matcha flavor, but it's a solid drink I would order again. This is definitely more for the presentation and vibes (with tip it was about $9), but it makes me excited to come back to try their food! It's a beautiful space.

I was initially really excited for Shoji's opening as a new option in FiDi. The most impressive thing is their space. It's absolutely gorgeous inside, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the restaurant / bar that will open. However, I didn't love my drink. I ordered the Matcha Einspanner, which came out to about $9 (with milk substitute). Aside from being overpriced, the matcha wasn't good. It was super watered down, very grainy, and had very little matcha flavor. The cream also was not good; it had that oily texture that stays in your mouth after in an unpleasant way. I thought the kinako added a nice touch, but there was way too much about it in a way that was overwhelming. In general, I would not get this drink again. On top of that, the service was really slow. I waited over 15 minutes to receive my matcha, and there was only 1 other customer. Therefore, I am hesitant to return to Shoji.

The owner(s) have beautifully transformed the former Trou Normand space into a sexy and sleek cafe by day and upscale restaurant by night with an awesome courtyard patio. I had a great first experience at Shoji! You can take your drink to go or sit in the booth and bar seating area. It's sophisticated, ambient interior. Friendly service as well. Matcha einspanner: a balance of sweet and nutty, with a strong matcha taste. Love to see more einspanner options in SF and the Bay Area. Their menu consists of traditional to specialty drinks. Michelin starred Chef Ingi "Shota" Son has opened Cafe Shoji, and the bar and restaurant is coming soon.

This is the newest top notch experience in the city! This modern Japanese influenced spot serves quality variations of coffees and teas, handcrafting each drink to order. They have a to go station, but if you have the chance I definitely recommend dining in because they have this beautiful area with cozy bar and booth seating. Service is super friendly and feels very casual cafe meets fine dining. Here, I enjoyed their yummy matcha einspanner with house made sweet cream and kinako powder. They are setting up certain days for pastries and eventually a bar/restaurant too, so stay tuned for those. It can be a little pricey for an everyday thing but if you're looking to elevate your cafe experience definitely stop by soon for a nice treat.

Such a beautiful new space with a thoughtful menu! They have a great bar and patio area that is cafe seating during the day, and even service that can bring you water/your drinks. I tried their matcha einspanner and it was super yummy with kinako powder on top! Would definitely come back for a relaxing midday treat. Even the bathroom is huge and pretty.

Amazing matcha! A relatively new cafe tucked away in fidi. The concentration and flavor of matcha was so strong, I loved it! There's also seating where the bar area is, as well as a back patio. Highly recommend for anyone in the area!

My new favorite cafe in the city! They've got a great selection and a seasonal selection. Definitely the best coffee I've had in a while - quality is excellent. Their interior is beautiful! You can tell they carefully put an incredible amount of detail and consideration. I will be back again very soon!

There's plentiful seating and really comfy booths, but unfortunately, no outlets or WiFi. Unless you have a full battery and a hot spot, I would not recommend this place for a workspace. Now onto the matcha: My friend and I ordered the matcha einspanner. We haven't had too many, so we had a pretty open mind. We loved how the einspanner had kinako powder on top (which I believe was a Shoji personal touch) We did think the cream was a bit too overpowering (which might be common for all einspanners) The cup is also beautiful when it comes to presentation, but it was a bit inconvenient to sip on casually. They do have plastic cups and lids, which you can pour your drink into after your in-person experience.

i work next door, and was pleased to see this spot open up! we got the matcha einspanner and the seasonal latte. the einspanner's whipped cream was top notch. the kinako sprinkles was a nice touch. the syrup in the seasonal latte was indeed giving winter. bar area was chic, and the patio was welcoming. looking forward to the pastries and food options.

I tried the matcha einspanner with house sweet cream--it was good, but not amazing. Enjoyable for the moment, but not something I'd go out of my way to have again.

SF's newest Matcha cafe! They just recently opened in FiDi and blew up on Tiktok with their bar aesthetics. They're located inside of a corporate office building and when you walk in, it looks like a regular cafe with all of the white interior but once you go past the curtains, you're transported to a NYC-like bar with super high ceilings, comfy leather booths, and a huge wall of alcohol. They have no wifi and gets a bit loud for meetings. My friend and I got the Matcha Einspanner $8. I ordered a bit after her but mine came out first and it took like 20 minutes. Their system of serving drinks seems inefficient because they go up to each person/group with a plate of drinks to see what the customers ordered. The drink was good like light sweet and a bit nutty because of the kinako (roasted soybean powder) they added on top but I wished the matcha was stronger. I'd come back to try their other matcha!

We went to this place today and before entering there was line outside which wasn't that bad however when we went to order they took 34 mins to bring our coffee out. We ordered at exactly 2:28 and didn't get our coffee till 3:02 pm which is pathetic. They weren't under staff either but were all over the place and slow as hell. I do understand that they are new and it can happen but 30 mins for a coffee with so many employees is ridiculous. Also they told us they were out of matcha, can't do an iced mocha and also can't add their house cream to cold brew and literally while we were leaving the girls sitting next to us asked the server if they could get any matcha and the server got it to them. The only good thing about the place was that it was pretty and the server did give me a splash of oatmilk. You guys can do better or atleast get a better manager to operate this place. Extremely disappointed for this cafe to be like this.

Cafe was cute! I tried the matcha einspanner. The kinako (soybean powder) and whipped cream added a nice nutty flavor and smooth texture to the drink, but the matcha was definitely a bit grainy.

Great ambience and diligent staff with impeccable skills. High quality beans, and nice quality mugs.
