A neighborhood favorite for Korean‑leaning comfort plates—bulgogi rice bowls, spicy pork, and jjajangmyeon—at friendly prices. It’s not a grill‑your‑own spot, but locals rely on it for barbecue‑style meats and quick hits of K‑flavor.

The pho broth was tasty and the portion was large. The noodles were cooked just right, not too soft or too firm. The shrimp spring rolls had a strong fishy taste and gave the impression that they had been stored in the fridge for a while, with wrapped in plastic. I couldn’t finish even one bite.

From the moment I walked in the door I was hit with the smell of wonderful spices and I knew I had picked the right place to eat. I’ve actually been here twice. The first time I got sea food pho and my friend got the spicey pork bun noodles. The pho was so rich in flavor but was still a light meal. My friend really enjoyed her noodles as well. We also tried the boba tea, she got Thai boba and I went with the watermelon boba but both were full of creamy sweet goodness it almost tasted like ice cream! The second time I came back I got beef curry rice and my date ended up getting the chicken curry rice. Both dishes were unique, very savory and hearty. The beef was a bit more soupy and spicy than the chicken but both had that signature curry flavor we were looking for. We also ended up getting boba tea this time around and it was just as sweet and creamy as it was the first time I had it. The crab Rangoon’s were crispy, creamy and had a fantastic spicy sauce to go with. I also ordered some miso soup that was light and delicious. The service here was also amazing , I ran out of hands to carry food back to my table and one of the staff members saw me struggling then stepped in to help me which was very thoughtful. Overall this restaurant is truly amazing in every way possible.

Google
Our 1st visit, staff were nice and friendly. The establishment was clean. The uncooked spring roll wasn’t fresh and the dipping sauce was not good. The coffee sold as Vietnamese coffee was too sweet and not good. The pork steam bun and the beef bulgogi were delicious. Both had a lot of flavors. I would definitely give this place another try.

Google
Amazing food! Some of the best in the area. The Pho and Fried Rice are always top notch. Order on the screens then they will call out your number. Make sure to bus your own table when you are done, it is cafeteria style! Inside is a bit drafty and not very new, but the food makes up for all that!

Google
One of the best places to come eat different types of food (Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese) is a spot we always come back to. We love getting the pho and pork bulgogi here since it's really delicious. There's a lot of variety in the dishes, and all of them taste amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in trying cuisine from different countries.

Google
Absolutely delicious food! I got the chicken bibimbap and milk tea, and both were so flavorful and fresh. I love the decor and atmosphere - so peaceful and relaxing.

Google
Amazing food!!! I mean I’ve come here so many times and it never disappoints. You want good pho. Come here. And I love All their side dishes as well!! Clean and friendly staff. You can tell they care a lot about their customers.

Google
My first time coming here, it was so nice to have some hand made/ Home fresh food! And you get a decent amount for what you pay for! Around 34-35$ for both of our meals plus drinks! The service was quick and easy, the place is clean and has a soft atmosphere (on a Sunday around 3pm when we got here). 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
This is one of the best places I have been to and tried in a long time! I have never tried Pho, until yesterday and I am now craving it again! The atmosphere is cozy. It feels like a little cafe. You order at the register using the kiosk, so it was easy to manage. I loved the self-serve aspect, especially when trying something new and having the opportunity to browse the menu. The food was delicious. One of the employees will call your number, and there is a tray prepped with your food and seasoning. Hoisin sauce + Siracha are on the table for easy access also! The beef pho was truly delicious. The broth tastes wonderful and comforting, and this was the first time I had rice noodles instead of ramen noodles! I was pleasently surprised, and it might be my preference! I can't wait to come back and try more of this menu. Definitely a go to spot on my own or with friends from now on!

Yelp
I recently dined at Cafe Vie for the first time in a while. It is a casual spot with self-service kiosks and spacious seating. I came on a Sunday afternoon, which was a pretty busy time. The food came out relatively quickly and the portions were generous. Food Breakdown: Donkatsu (Pork Cutlet): The cutlet was crispy and they give you a lot of rice and salad on the side. Pad Thai: Sweet, tangy, and nutty flavors. It was a little different as it was more saucier than I'm used to for pad thai. Jjajangmyeon (Black Bean Noodles): The sauce was a bit more sweeter than usual. I did like the large portion size. The casual dining setup was comfortable and convenient. It's a good spot for a variety of options and a quick pick me up.

Yelp
I sat waiting for my to-go pho for 40 minutes while watching entire large groups get the same food I ordered before me. I asked about my order 3 times before it finally materialized. No apology - nothing.

Yelp
This place just feels really cheap and the quality of food tastes the same. The price is not justifiable for the quality either. There was no combination pho, which is what I usually get and should be a staple in every Vietnamese restaurant. So I just got the beef pho. The broth itself had no flavoring and the noodles were already way too soft when I got my bowl. They also serve lemons instead of limes? Very odd and when we asked for extra lime, they gave us a lemon. You order at the kiosk and pick up the food there too. Utensils and sauces are provided in a self serve station. The way the tables are arranged makes it really hard to walk through without bumping into people. I wanted to give this place another try but sadly had the same mediocre experience as last time. There are better Vietnamese spots in the area.

Yelp
Met up with some friends to try this new to me place. It's behind a strip mall and I would've never known it was there otherwise. The inside is not fancy by any means, but it is clean with plenty of seating. You can order at the counter or at the kiosk. I chose the kiosk, which is always nice to take your time at and look at all the options. They give you a number and call you back when ready. Very quick service for as busy as they were. I picked Spring Roll, Pad Thai Combo and Thai Milk Tea. Our table then shared all of our different orders. My kind of dining, no wonder they are friends. Everything was delicious! I enjoyed that the meal includes a broth soup and kimchi, because my lunch total was $30 including tip. I did walk away with take out boxes, which will make a great lunch again. I'm definitely keeping this place on my radar. Would love to go back again.

Yelp
Ordered pho and some spicy noodles. It was packed inside but the food came out quickly. The pho was okay and had a nice flavour to it. The portion was big too. It's an okay place to get quick Asian food but wouldn't really come here for authentic food.
google avatar

Brooke N.

Yelp
I keep thinking about going back. The food is very authentic and cozy. I want to try it all.

Yelp
**Cafe Vie** is a cozy, cafeteria-style spot with some seriously tasty pho and a mix of Korean and Vietnamese eats. We tried the large beef pho, and wow, it was flavorful! The broth was rich and perfectly seasoned, and honestly, it's big enough to share--or save some for later unless you're super hungry (which is totally fine, too!). We also got the pork bao buns--they were good, but could've used a little sauce to make them even better. The pad Thai was different from the traditional version, with a sweet, tangy red sauce, but still tasty in its own way. So, if you're looking for great pho in a laid-back spot, this place is worth a visit. Only thing is, I wish they cleaned the tables a bit more, but I get it--they stay busy!

Yelp
They have a an expansive menu with Korean and Vietnamese options. The interior feels sort of like a food hall/cafeteria which is kind of nice. However, the food is just ok. The chicken curry rice doesn't taste much like curry and kind of looks sort of just like a stewed chicken slurried with cornstarch to make a yellow gravy. It's somehow comforting but again, not curry. The pho broth is pretty flavorful but is extremely greasy. I've had it a few times and it is always very greasy :/ The meat is over cooked too and my broth had a BIG chunk (about the size of an adult man's thumb and palm of the thumb or chicken drumstick). We also had a half order of sweet and sour pork. It was a pretty hefty order. Came with a bunch of sauce on the side and heavily goopy/glazed as corn starch slurry. You'll find cheap eats here and it's just alright.

Yelp
When we are craving Pho, we come here. One of the best place for Pho and other Asian dishes. Self serve. Casual dine in or carry out order. I haven't been in for awhile. They added a kiosk for ordering and it seem to be a little faster service. They must also have new management. The flavor of the Pho broth wasn't quite the same. But still good. Price is more reasonable than other places. I come here for the convenience and it's close to home.

Yelp
When after work to have some Pho. Sweet and savory and loaded with ingredients, definitely will be coming back next time I'm in town
google avatar

Clover M.

Yelp
I'm not sure where others ate as we were looking forward to eating here. We ordered the Pad Thai (which was overcooked chicken and undercooked noodles), crab Rangoon's were meh, spring rolls were at least a day past when they should have been served. Lettuce was brown and spoiled, and the dip sauce had a hard coat on top. There are several great Asian restaurants in this town, but unfortunately, this was not one of them.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has some of the best pho in town. Service is always fast and friendly and this place stays busy. Large dining area, clean tables, and ordering kiosks for faster service. I have had a few of their boba drinks and they are great as well. I always come here for pho so of course I'll be back.
google avatar

Jonelle W.

Yelp
Food was amazing, they had a wide variety of options - Korean, Vietnamese. They have a big seating area and two options to self order. Service was fast and easy - self serve.
google avatar

Kara W.

Yelp
The food is always amazing, hot and fresh at this spot. It's a staple when friends come into town. It's a quick order yourself and sit down inside.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're in Kansas City and craving Pho, this is the best spot in the area. The broth is rich and flavorful. The restaurant operates in a cafeteria-style setting.
google avatar

Yelp
A friend and I visited this little restaurant for a quick, yet delicious meal. We ordered the chicken pho and gimbap. If you shop at the oriental market next door, its the same gimbap they sell there which are absolutely delicious! The chicken pho wasn't the best soup I've ever had, but it got the job done. You order via a kiosk and you're called up to grab your order! They've got a ton of different options I'd like to try in the near future! Seating was a little packed, which is always a good sign right? But you can feel a little close to one another when it's a full house

Yelp
Our go to spot! Getting our usual: spicy pork, jammpong, fried chicken, & fried dumplings.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
I was craving some Kimbop and it was yummy! The restaurant was pretty big and food came out really fast. I'd like to try some of their Vietnamese dishes and Korean dishes for sure!

James S.

Yelp
Great selection of Korean and Vietnamese food. Quick, clean, good service and good food!

Elisabeth P.

Yelp
I love Cafe Vie! They have some great options and it's my go to spot for Korean! The service is quick and the food is great!
google avatar

Summer F.

Yelp
The pho was good and a very generous portion. It wasn't busy so it was super easy to get a table. The employees were kind and my food was out quickly. The crab Rangoon were not good- super fishy and weird tasting. The tables were nearly all dirty, despite having very few customers. You order on a screen, the whole thing is self service and you have zero interaction but are still asked if you want to tip.
google avatar

James F.

Yelp
I'll start with ambiance when I walk in and conversation is flowing and folks are chewing I know I have made it to my type of place and a cafe Vie does not disappoint! I am always tempted by the food angels to order everything on the menu - ohhh why oh whyyyy. My wallet prevails and I settle for one item and one appetizer and one drink......ordered via digital instore mounted ordering system yay AI - grabbed a large table for all my orders and my lady Friends lol and the feast was only a few minutes away for deliciousness - you can't go wrong with a meal and a to go bag from Cafe Vie afternoon very well spent
google avatar

Mia S.

Yelp
Love it! Go for the Pho and the pot stickers. I like their Pad Thai as well! It is in a cute little area which we can walk to from our place which makes us more frequent visitors! We usually stop by Blessing Abound and World Market across the street after we are done, so a convenient location. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Kari P.

Yelp
Delicious Pho! The portions are large and the food was very filling, we had leftovers! This was a great spot for a quick and delicious lunch. This is an order at the counter style place, that's very casual. This Pho will warm you from the inside out - highly recommend.
google avatar

Kelsey A.

Yelp
I walked in and was excited to see digital kiosks that I could order from. It was setup cafeteria style where you go pickup your food when they call your number out. You also bus your own table.. this seems to be why the tables weren't very clean and a bit sticky. On the bright side the prices seemed reasonable for the amount of food you get. The boba tea was blended which was very different than my usual tea order and it was delicious! I will definitely be returning for the boba tea.
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
My wife and I love this place! Great Pho, spring rolls. Service is good as well. Outdoor seating with music.
google avatar

Phillip Y.

Yelp
We stopped here after we realized that there was authentic Asian food just a mile away from our hotel. This place enforced the COVID protocol and strictly going by online order or through the kioske touch screen. We stuck with traditional Vietnamese pho soup and egg fried rice Korean dish along with some eggrolls. It was good that we came early since more people showed up after 11:30am. Overall, I liked it but my wife thought rice was too oily.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
I was hunkering for pho & my girls said I should try Cafe Vie. I would have to say I was disappointed in the overall setup. You ordered from a kiosk after looking at menus posted on the clear plastic walls that surround the kitchen & prep area. I ordered the shrimp/krab spring rolls & medium beef pho. You are given a number and then wait for your number to be called. My shrimp & Krab spring roll were large and fresh. The sauce is a sweet & spicy. At first I didn't think there was much beef but as I ate my pho clearly looks was deceiving. The pho had good flavor but was too sweet for me. The prices are decent as well. Main pros price, size/taste of the spring rolls & meat quantity. Cons were the atmosphere, kiosk & sweetness of the pho

Yelp
With a sad and heavy heart, and after months of giving this spot numerous chances to change my mind, I'm writing this updated review. What started off with a 5-star review experience slowly but surely declined, demanding this 1-star review. It seems that after the management change, this restaurant was set on a downward trajectory of bad service and bad quality food. My first visit, post the management change, was HORRIBLE. The jjamppong tasted like they put ramen packets in it, the noodles were way overcooked, and the beef pho was beyond salty - it literally felt like we were drinking from the Pacific Ocean. Not to mention that it took them 30+ minutes to get us our food. Nonetheless, it had only been a couple months since the lockdown, and I wanted to be lenient. It's NEVER easy having to change your business overnight. However, it was the consecutive 5-visits after that visit that convinced me to REMOVE my original 5-star review, and it was my most recent visit that convinced me to write them a 1-star review. Nothing has changed for the better when it comes to the quality and taste of the food. In fact, it's only gotten worse. They've increased the price of everything on their menu by $2, whole dollars, their food portions have shrunk significantly, the freshness of their pho veggies is always questionable, and their broth tastes mediocre (always super salty like they've been been boiling them for HOURS on end). I almost always find myself chugging tons of water after a visit. Their food has WAAY too much msg. Never coming back. It's just not worth the money or the time anymore.
google avatar

Ana G.

Yelp
I wanted a quick bowl of pho in the area, and this delivered! When entering the store I realized you order through a kiosk. I went to wash my hands after I placed my beef pho order, and by the time I came back it was already waiting for me. The staff calls out your order number when it's ready. The casual self-serve seating helped me get in and out within a few minutes. I'll be back!

Lia R.

Yelp
The food was so good and it came out fast, me and my brother got the beef pho. The broth was rich by itself, the meat was tender but personally I like more spice but they have siracha at the table so it was all good!! My brother also really liked the taro boba
google avatar

Lou K.

Yelp
I stopped here for lunch. It is cafeteria style with an ipad ordering system. I liked having the option to peruse the menu on the ipad and take my time ordering without speaking to staff. I tried the pad Thai. It was average. I thought it should have been spicier. It did not have any spice options like other places have. I also got the fresh spring rolls. They were pre made and plastic wrapped. They were huge. The lettuce was no longer crunchy and did not taste very fresh. We also tried the pork bun. This was tasty but about average. We also tried the small chicken pho. The size was really big and we ended up taking more than half home. I enjoyed the broth and chicken. This was my favorite dish that I tried. I tried the frozen boba drinks and they were really good. I tried the Thai tea boba, the milk tea boba, and the Taro boba. The Thai tea flavor was my favorite. The taro tea was too sweet for me and I could only have a little because of this. The pricing overall was decent. It was a good price for the tea and I have already been back to grab one for a sweet treat.
google avatar

Lindsey L.

Yelp
I don't usually write reviews but I have to write one Bc I hope the owner would see this. The spring rolls here aren't even spring rolls , they just use imitation crabs with very very cold noodles. It's just wrong , I took my friends here who aren't even Vietnamese and they said "we feel offended bc these spring rolls are wrong in many levels" The pho portion is big but you can taste the MSG sweetness and the aftertaste on your tongue. Overall I would never recommend or take anyone to this place. Too much MSG !!
google avatar

Becca C.

Yelp
As long as you realize that you don't come here for the atmosphere or experience, it's an amazing place. The food is delicious! Being very much a basic white girl, I can't speak to any authenticity, but I can tell you that it tastes fantastic. The service isn't great, but that's sort of the thing about this place: it's simple, unpretentious, and good. I asked for some extra onion, which they happily gave me... I don't need someone to pretend to be SO excited I'm there as long as the food holds up and they deliver on that end. Portion sizes were also good for the price, my husband and I easily each got two meals out of our entrees. Give Cafe Vie a try, just manage your expectations of everything but the quality of the food.
google avatar

Jirah O.

Yelp
Food is always good and portions are generous! Not all people like ordering from their kiosks and their self-service approach, but it didn't bother me at all as that's how hole in the walls are set up in Asia.
google avatar

Lanh N.

Yelp
Great hole in the wall for a quick lunch if you're in the mood for Vietnamese and Korean food. They have a lot of options and you get your food pretty quickly after ordering it from the kiosk. It doesn't look like much on the inside or out but if all you care about is the food this place is pretty delicious. We had the spring rolls, gimbap you in the head, and banh bao because we weren't super hungry yet but it all tasted great.
google avatar

Elijah R.

Yelp
Cafe Vie is quite possibly one of my favorite places to eat, and my friends and I frequent here pretty often. We have tried almost all of the menu and it's all extremely delicious, but the pho is what makes this place special all on its own. They have chicken pho, beef pho and seafood pho, all of which are good, but I usually get the beef. They also have a ton of condiments and extras available for no extra cost so you can customize your pho to your liking. Service is usually fast, though sometimes it can take a bit to get your food, but it's worth it every time. Ambience wise this place is definitely a little bit of a hole in the wall type place, but don't let that fool you because the food is delicious and the place is always super clean. I totally recommend trying this place out!
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
This is a place that doesn't have much in the way of atmosphere. You order on a touch screen and they call out your number when your order is ready. We went just after 7 on a Monday and the place was almost full. My husband got the large seafood pho. I got the tonkatsu. My son got the pork bun, the fresh spring roll, and the red bean bun. We basically all shared everything. The food was good and came out pretty quickly. I would come again.
google avatar

Sari C.

Yelp
I can't believe I just discovered this place! A coworker told me this was their favorite pho in all of KC. I knew I had to try it because I absolutely love pho. This place is a little hidden on the backside of a shopping center and easily missed if you aren't looking for it. It is located right next to an Asian market. When we walked it, it was pretty busy but nothing crazy. You instantly smell all the spices they use in the kitchen which smell amazing. We walked up to the counter to order. They use one of those kiosk machines to order which is actually super easy to place your order on. The kiosk prints a receipt which has your order number on it. We found a table and waited for our numbers to be called. We probably waited about 15 minutes for our orders, nothing super crazy. I got the beef pho and O M G. It was so flavorful and delicious! It was packed with beef and noodles and the broth was amazing. Everyone at my table had a little bite of each others and each dish was better than the next. After about 30 minutes we noticed that the line to order almost stretched to the back of the restaurant. It was so busy! The noise level never got crazy loud despite the number of people in the restaurant. That pho was so freaking good and without a doubt I will be going back! I would just expect a busy crowd if you are going for lunch as their lunch hour seems to get pretty slammed.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Pho is pretty good! No veggie bar which is disappointing. Self order and pick up. Inside is just plain seating area. I can only speak for pho. Busy place.
google avatar

Ray B.

Yelp
Where can you find: Korean, Thai and Vietnamese food....all under one roof??? Cafe vie! If you haven't been here I challenge you to check this place out! No matter what you are looking to eat I bet you will find something here! Please enjoy there beef pho - photo attached! Amazing price with huge portions!
google avatar

Marie K.

Yelp
When you see a Asian restaurant next to the oriental market you have some high hopes. This place did not let us down. I ordered pad Thai and my friend ordered the bulgogi with rice. The portion amount was a great size and the flavors were on point. When you step into the restaurant you walk up to an iPad where you can input your order, and then you wait for your number to be called. The place has a mom and pop restaurant feel, with the technology update. If your in the vicinity this place is great choice for lunch or other dining!
google avatar

Tes H.

Yelp
Authentically delicious. Cafe vie was a wonderful discovery by my friend and I during a leisurely lunch. I had the pas Thai (amazing) and she has the seafood pho (also a good choice). You can tell that each dish is prepared individually and that the staff put their all into that food. It was very good and unlike a regular chain restaurant serving up Asian dishes. The place was clean with a big open kitchen. There's room for a couple of larger (10ish) groups and lots of individual tables. We came during lunch rush when it was pretty busy and we still got our food in a decent amount of time. We are definitely coming back and will bring new friends!
google avatar

Kaela R.

Yelp
Very good pho, the down side was the cleanliness of the restaurant. The tray that my bowl came on was dirty. Tables were sticky and walls had splatter marks. We tried the egg rolls which I would not recommend they were super small and the inside was cold. Looks like they are frozen and they just heat them up. The boba tea was not great either I got a Taro and it tasted to much like melted butter for me to drink it. I'm giving 4 stars cause the pho was that good tho #worthit
google avatar

Ivy L.

Yelp
Upon walking in, you can grab a table and order at a kiosk. I personally found this convenient because there were several kiosks around the space and I wasn't rushed to order. I had beef pad thai. Although the serving portions were massive for the price, it didn't have a very strong flavor. They also didn't call my number when my food was ready, so my food was sitting at the pick up for a good few minutes while my friend was eating. My friend had her number called right away though, so it might be a toss up what happens to you.
google avatar

Claire F.

Yelp
The pho servings are so big! Went here with some friends and it was pretty good! The process is self-order; they have a machine towards the front where you put in your order, and then they'll call out your number when it's ready. I ordered the medium beef pho and it was the size of my hands!! Ok, my hands aren't the biggest, but the serving portion was generous for the price (and this was the smaller option as well). Overall, the flavor was good! The beef was a little on the tougher side, but I still really enjoyed my meal! This place is also a little far from where I live, so I wouldn't always make the drive to come out, but worth visiting every now and then. It's also right by Tous Les Jours and a bunch of other stores so you can hit all the good places in one go!
google avatar

Chalanna B.

Yelp
Consistently good pho, gimbap, and zha jiang mian noodles pre and post pandemic. In fact, if I'm feeling unwell, this is where I get soup picked up and brought to me. It's right next to the market, which is also convenient. Dining experience is slightly messy, noisy, cafeteria-like. You come here for the food.
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
Got some pho here following a recommendation. The food is excellent. We purchased the beef and the chicken to go. Portion size for the large is huge! The food was delicious. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the broth was delicious. We will be back. A couple caveats to avoid issues. Ignore the prices on Yelp. The prices are higher, as they are everywhere, but still fair, which is not the case everywhere. The other is finding the restaurant the first time can be confusing. They do not front Metcalf but are behind the center near the Conoco gas station.
