"Neighborhood spot Cafeine served its last cup of espresso on Labor Day. The coffee shop reopened for takeout in mid-May but it wasn’t enough to keep its doors open." - Eater Staff

Great way of making coffee, although coffee used could be fresher. Most of the times great service, no Crossaint in the afternoons 😔. Very good chocolate bars.

Best croissant in Harlem period. Great coffee. Great tea selection. Sandwiches are also pretty good. Staff is friendly and attentive. My favorite coffee spot in the area. This place just feels good.

I ride laps in central park early AM in weekdays, this places opens at 7am on the dot, ready to make delicious coffee. They use Bristot coffee beans. It's super close to the Fredrick Douglas circle near Central Park. All the baristas/staff I've exchanged with are very friendly and very skilled. They have to go and to stay cups as well as delicious fresh made pastries. Cafeine is about 2 blocks away from Double Dutch Cafe, but I honestly like the coffee at Cafeine much better than it's more "elite competition." The vibe here is completely different as well, its open, yet small, they leave the doors open all day to allow air and light in. And they even have outdoor seating. Also have plenty of non-dairy options! I highly recommend.

This tiny place serves delicious French pastries (the pan au chocolate I had was excellent) and mediocre espresso; they’re using some mass produced European beans and a push-button machine resulting in the dull espresso you find in cafes all over Europe. The barista was nice and did the best she could with what she had. There are two small tables and four bar stools.

Coffee was not the best to my taste. I like really bold, full, strong coffee. This was not weak, but sharp and maybe a little thin. Reminded me of a decent, but not great pre-ground grocery store brand, like Bustelo. Definitely better than Dunkin or a deli, but not my favorite. They were offering cinnamon bun samples when I was there last, and those were awesome.

Excellent service, coffee, and food! I stopped by for an early afternoon bite today - the barista was welcoming and quickly helped me with a cold brew and sandwich. The cold brew had a very unique flavor, probably because it was a seasonal single origin bean but it was very strong and worth a try. The sandwich I had was well-made and totally hit the spot (coppa? with honey goat cheese and arugula on a toasted baguette - yummm). On top of that: free wifi, clean bathroom and plenty of seating, in and out doors. 👍🏻👍🏻 for this visit and a definitive recommendation from me!

The macchiato is served with sparkling water, always a classy touch. The espresso drinks after traditional European style. The pastries are flown in from France and baked fresh daily. I've been told that the croissants sell out every day and after trying one, I understand why.
