Espresso bar with Italian sweets, salads, sandwiches, soccer games

"I sat on the new patio at Caffe Dello Sport (308 Hanover St.) in the North End, a cafe-and-sports-bar setup offering beer, wine, cocktails, espresso, gelato, panini, and pastries — a good spot for an Aperol spritz or Negroni in the heart of Boston’s Italian neighborhood." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

"One of several North End restaurants that joined an open letter protesting a $7,500 application fee and a shortened outdoor-dining season restricted to May 1–September (depending on compliance). The letter calls the requirements harsh, exorbitant, and discriminatory, argues outdoor dining adds to the neighborhood’s cultural and tourist appeal and economic benefit, and requests fee removal and an extension of the season to September 30 without behavior-based restrictions; owners are also exploring legal action. City officials say the extra fees (plus a $458/month charge per parking space) are needed to offset trash, rodent control, and traffic problems and defend treating the dense neighborhood differently after past resident complaints about distancing, noise, smoking, and sidewalk/streets congestion that led to reprimands and truncated seasons in previous years." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

"Raffaele Scalzi and Mivan Spencer, the latter being the owner of Café Dello Sport in the North End, will open Pazza on Porter." - Terrence Doyle
"In Italy (or at least Little Italy) it seems that sports bars swap out stale beer and fries for coffee and cannoli, because this coffee shop on Hanover is packed whenever there’s a big soccer game. The rest of the time, it’s just a great spot to grab some caffeine and a pastry or two." - Dan Secatore

"A Boston restaurateur adds a mobile arm to his operation this weekend. Philip Frattaroli of Ducali Pizzeria & Bar and Cunard Tavern will unveil his new Caffe Pellicano Mobile Espresso Bar at a festival in the North End near another of his family’s restaurants, Filippo Ristorante. Caffe Pellicano tips its hat to the craft of Italian coffee in more ways than one. The truck is a vintage Piaggio Ape — a three-wheeled Italian truck — which Frattaroli had outfitted for the coffee operation. Espresso will anchor the menu, with other beverages including Americanos, macchiatos, lattes, cappuccinos, and cold brew for summer. There will also be a drink named after the operation and similar to an Arnold Palmer: The Pellicano will be made with lemonade and cold brew. The truck will also serve biscotti." - Dana Hatic
