"It’s hotter than a dish with three chile symbols outside. But at least waiting in line at the second location of Caffe Panna in Greenpoint comes with a sweet frozen treat at the end. The ice cream shop opens with some local business collabs: there’s a milk bread flavor with Taku Sando, and a guava and cream cheese option from Pan Pan Vino Vino. They’ll have a coffee and a weekly rotating fruit granita through the summer, and, unlike the original in Gramercy, a “Panna Party Room” for all your ice cream party needs." - will hartman

"Any ice cream obtainable within a five-minute walk of McCarren Park is a precious commodity. At Caffè Panna in Greenpoint, that ice cream also happens to be some of the very best in the city. The beloved ice cream shop, which originated in Gramercy, is so highly seasonal that their menu of decadent, inventive flavors (lavender rhubarb, passion fruit rice pudding) changes daily. They’re known for their sundaes, capped with Italian-imported whipped cream, and their so-crazy-they-just-might-work (and somehow, always do) high-low mix-ins: things like chocolate-covered potato chips, Speculoos brittle, medjool dates, and Oreo ganache. photo credit: Liz Clayman photo credit: Liz Clayman photo credit: Liz Clayman photo credit: Britt Lam photo credit: Britt Lam At the height of summer, for example, Caffè Panna might have the instant-classic Sungold Sundae. An ambitious helping of Fior Di Panna soft serve is dressed with savory Tuscan olive oil, basil, saba (a balsamic-adjacent Italian grape must syrup), crunchy sea salt, and glowing orange Sungold tomatoes—little greenmarket gems. Think of it as a caprese salad for your sweet tooth and dig right in, because the soft serve quickly becomes a leaning tower in the heat. The Brooklyn location is also the only place you can try Panna’s unique granitas: soft serve on the bottom, whipped cream on top, and crunchy, fluffy flavored ice in between. Dessert this good justifiably commands a long line, but trust that it will move quickly. There’s ample, air-conditioned standing room inside the Greenpoint shop, and if you’re just ordering a pint, you can proceed directly to the pickup window. This location also has a private party room (for 15-25 people), so keep it in mind for your next birthday, work event, or dairy-centric celebration of any kind. Food Rundown Granitas The Granita Di Caffè is pleasant and refreshing (anything espresso-related here is reliably good, including the affogatos), but the Granita Di Strawberry is exceptional. Consider the potent, sweet-tart strawberry ice an apology from the universe for every pale, disappointing, bottom-of-the-basket supermarket berry that’s ever come your way." - Molly Fitzpatrick

Brand new location in Greenpoint. There’s seating, a cute print machine, and daily changing scoop and pint flavours. Staff were really nice and gave wonderful service! They’re also happy to answer any questions while you wait. Do be wary, since they just opened up and are the hottest ice cream place in town, queues are usually down the block in the late afternoon to evenings. I went just 15 minutes after they opened and waited about 20 minutes. Just be patient to staff and those around you. Maybe bring a fan or a nice book to wait out the heat! It’s definitely worth the wait!

Tried Caffè Panna for the first time this past weekend. It wasn't bad, but it was definitely not the best. Could've been the flavors I got, which were the chocolate sorbet, and it had an odd crumble texture to it, and also the Red Flag, which had nearly no strawberry in it, which was disappointing. The panna, fudge, and oreo brittle were good. The other downside was that it took quite a while to receive my order, and you can tell it did with most of the people there. So, I definitely don't recommend if you're in a rush. Another positive is that the staff are customer service forward.

Run, don’t walk to Caffè Panna’s newest location in Greenpoint! Prepare to wait in a 50+ person line, but it’s worth the wait! They have a weekly rotation of creations as well as a rotation soft serve flavor. As first timers, we ordered the Red Flag and the weekly soft serve flavor which was Blueberry. Both were absolutely delicious! This will definitely be a local spot we’ll be frequenting!

Coffee Panna Ice cream is freshly made on-site with a daily rotating flavor. They have a dedicated team of employees takes great pride in their work and is always happy to assist customers. The ice cream is made with the freshest ingredients and has a delicious, unique taste. From the whipped cream to the graham crackers, every component is carefully crafted to perfection. They also offer a variety of soft-serve ice cream flavors that change daily. If you see a flavor you like, be sure to try it right away, as it may not be available the next day. Cafe panna have on-site seating and sell ice cream in pints. Street parking is available nearby. There may be long lines on summer days, but we assure you that the wait is worth it.

Went on opening day after dinner and was surprised by the long line wrapped around Banker to Norman. After the first bite, I understood why. It was worth the wait. The Bianco and Aud Dream were what we ordered and they tasted fantastic. Will definitely visit again.

This ice cream shop is ok. Certainly the quality is above average and is reasonably priced. The fresh whipped cream is the best part. While it's enjoyable, I wouldn’t compare it to a good gelato. I went on a Wednesday night around 8pm and waited in line for 20 minutes. I don’t think I would do it again.

hmmm... i had been looking forward to trying cafe pannas brooklyn location since it opened... in particular because they have an exclusive granita ONLY in brooklyn. We ordered the coffee granita and soft serve of the day. Let me start with the positive - the soft serve had a great whipped consistency. The granita on the other hand ... was very watery and lacked any coffee flavor. it was also very sweet. Granita is supposed to be a dark splintery ice consistency with a strong coffee presence and subtle sweetness. Unfortunately i went to italy this summer and this was not a granita. I was very disappointed because I grew very passionate about this dessert in ITALIA and it's rare to see it outside of Italia. I also find it ridiculous it was 8.5 , the same price as the ice cream. (you can see the size disparity in figure 1) if go , id say pass on the granita.

My first time at caffe panna really lived up to the hype! The wait was long but worth it and the line moved quickly. Out of the three pints I got, the peanut butter s’mores was the best but all 3 were delicious. I will be back!!
