Absolutely love everything about this place. The food, the atmosphere. Really good for value. Polished off every single thing on the plate... Cant wait to go back again and again

Second timing dining in. Definitely worth dropping by when you are in Newtown. This time we ordered the (1) Mixed Meat Plate (2) Mixed Dip and (3) Chips. Despite being lunchtime - yes, we managed to snag a table for four - the food came out 10 minutes after ordering at the counter. Food was a great mix and we were fed for under $20 per person (without drinks). If you like lots of meat, you may be disappointed but I was happy with the balance. Staff are friendly and helpful!

The food at this place was absolutely delicious. I ordered the mixed skewer, which came with a fantastic selection of flavorful sides that perfectly complemented the main dish. The skewer was tender, juicy, and expertly seasoned, offering a delicious blend of spices that made each bite a treat. I highly recommend this place!!!

Although the wait time is lengthy, it’s worth it. Obviously this restaurant is packed as it’s famous for its delicious Egyptian food (as shown in attached photos). We love to dine whilst watching the hard working cooks work their magic. Never ceases to amaze us, and never seems to fail our taste buds. -Stergos

The food was very delicious here and pretty authentic. The only let down for me was the crispy bread which was very dry to eat on its own with minimal flavour and didn't compliment any of the main dishes we got.

I think it goes without saying that Cairo is a Newtown institution that has become synonymous with outstanding food and service. Have been here with Egyptian people who love the authenticity of the flavors, which never fails to deliver. Highly recommended ! 😋

A real find! This restaurant has many authentic dishes and plenty of vegetarian options. There are a few outdoor tables a couple inside and counter area. The food is delicious and very reasonable. Takeaway is available and it gets very busy. There is an amazing portrait of a lady on the wall inside highlighted but the bricks being chipped away. Great food, great atmosphere and great price. Highly recommend. They also were selling chocolate in support of Palestine.

Sorry. But this was better than jimmy's falafel. It's was sublime . Really enjoyed it. Next time I will book a table. Always wanted to try, and as soon as I saw an instagram's reel about the place, I just wanted to try. Fast service (I had takeaway ) 2 Pitas in less than 10 min . Congratulations, my fav.

This place comes highly recommended! Best place to go after footy training for healthy tasty Middle Eastern food. Don't listen to the negative reviews--this place is quality. Can't wait to eat there again, when I return

I had a bad bad experience!! The guy who worked there was very rude when I asked him questions since I wasnt familiar with the food. i was waiting 35 mins to receive my food and I have to say, it was dry and tasted like nothing. even 1 star is too much for this restaurant, if you can even call it a restaurant.

Cairo Takeaway is a small cornershop that serves Egyption food and sits unassumingly on the Enmore high street but the food (and smell) is so worth making a stop! It's very casual dining so you order your food at the register and grab your own table. There aren't a lot of seats on the inside but there's a small outdoor seating area which was perfect on a warm day! My friend and I ordered four plates of food to share which was way too much but so good that we finished absolutely everything. We got the mixed dips with bread, mixed meat plate, mixed vegetarian (falafel) plate, and paprika fries. The highlights for me were the mixed dips! It comes with mahsa'aha (capsicum and eggplant), hummus and toum (garlic sauce). These were so delicious and pair well with not only the crispy bread but pretty much everything else. I was also so glad the meat and vegetarian plates also came with these as I couldn't get enough of them! The falafel and various meats were also seasoned well and so yummy. This place was such a good discovery, I can't wait to come back!

I discovered this place by the smell. I decided I had to eat there as soon as possible and have never turned back! In about a month or so I've been there about 7 times with different friends. It's super casual dining and there aren't many seats. They are frying fresh falafel at the entrance and the plates (we share them) are perfection. I love this place so much. I can't overstate it. The food is so fresh and authentic! The coffee is great too. Noticed that they do breakfast - so I'll have to try it. I'm reluctant to post a positive review.... that's how much I like this place. I don't want it to be overrun.

Highly recommend this spot; we were greeted straight away and despite the busy atmosphere got a seat near the window. The food is so good; especially the falafel (it's made right in front of you). The French fries are heavenly. Lovely staff, great value for money, will definitely be back.

The food is fantastic. Best falafel hands down. Order the mixed veg and mixed meat plate. great value for money as well
