Good food in a unique, casual setting. The mixed meat plate was a highlight with great flavours in all of the meats and love me some garlic sauce. We walked in on a Friday eve and waited 20-30min for a table which wasn’t too bad as they have space to wait and chat. Once seated the service and the food came quickly!

The food and atmosphere were awesome for a quick dinner with friends. We ordered 3 mains and fries Mixed meat plate, mixed vegetarian plate, and Maalouba. Maalouba had some delicious slow cooked lamb, but the mixed meat plate was my favourite.

Had the meat mix plate, gamberi plate, falafel and fries. Every component was created with love: from the pickles to the side salads everything was flavourful. There are 3 different spaces - out the front on the sidewall, in the main area and in the courtyard. All havr their charm. I waited 25 minutes for a table on a Friday night without a booking but that's my lack of planning and the food was worth it.

Cairo Takeaway in Newtown offers a cozy spot with Middle Eastern street food vibes. The food was decent—flavours were there but nothing that stood out as exceptional. What really made the visit pleasant was the attentive and friendly service, with staff checking in regularly. A solid option if you’re nearby, but not one I’d travel far for.

Recommend the charcoal chicken plate. The food was 10/10 but you need to remember to order at the counter even though you get a seat. The inside is stuffy and stinky and the outside is the bin area and pigeons flying in and out

One of those places that I'm almost scared to give my honest opinion about how good it is in case they change the menu to start accommodating more people as they get more popular! Love eating here, everytime I try something different and it's always delicious, great portions, variety of fresh ingredients and reasonably priced. Please don't change!

What an amazing experience. The night began with fantastic and attentive service and continued with absolutely delicious plates of food. We ordered the Fattah(special-lamb shoulder over rice), Mixed meat plate,falafel plate and cairo fries. Each and every dish was tasty and easily shared amongst a few diners. BYO was great. The only star loss was for the slightly uncomfortable seating, low stools and tables, but I would put up with that again to savour the amazing food once again.

Best Middle Eastern food I've had in Australia, meat plate including all the salads was lovely and excellent value for money as the portions are large. The grilled chicken is a real stand-out. One minor issue is that for an old guy like me the stools are too low and uncomfortable as they have no backrest, but this is of course part of the aesthetic.

This place comes highly recommended! Best place to go after footy training for healthy tasty Middle Eastern food. Don't listen to the negative reviews--this place is quality. Can't wait to eat there again, when I return

I had a bad bad experience!! The guy who worked there was very rude when I asked him questions since I wasnt familiar with the food. i was waiting 35 mins to receive my food and I have to say, it was dry and tasted like nothing. even 1 star is too much for this restaurant, if you can even call it a restaurant.

Cairo Takeaway is a small cornershop that serves Egyption food and sits unassumingly on the Enmore high street but the food (and smell) is so worth making a stop! It's very casual dining so you order your food at the register and grab your own table. There aren't a lot of seats on the inside but there's a small outdoor seating area which was perfect on a warm day! My friend and I ordered four plates of food to share which was way too much but so good that we finished absolutely everything. We got the mixed dips with bread, mixed meat plate, mixed vegetarian (falafel) plate, and paprika fries. The highlights for me were the mixed dips! It comes with mahsa'aha (capsicum and eggplant), hummus and toum (garlic sauce). These were so delicious and pair well with not only the crispy bread but pretty much everything else. I was also so glad the meat and vegetarian plates also came with these as I couldn't get enough of them! The falafel and various meats were also seasoned well and so yummy. This place was such a good discovery, I can't wait to come back!

I discovered this place by the smell. I decided I had to eat there as soon as possible and have never turned back! In about a month or so I've been there about 7 times with different friends. It's super casual dining and there aren't many seats. They are frying fresh falafel at the entrance and the plates (we share them) are perfection. I love this place so much. I can't overstate it. The food is so fresh and authentic! The coffee is great too. Noticed that they do breakfast - so I'll have to try it. I'm reluctant to post a positive review.... that's how much I like this place. I don't want it to be overrun.

Highly recommend this spot; we were greeted straight away and despite the busy atmosphere got a seat near the window. The food is so good; especially the falafel (it's made right in front of you). The French fries are heavenly. Lovely staff, great value for money, will definitely be back.

The food is fantastic. Best falafel hands down. Order the mixed veg and mixed meat plate. great value for money as well
