The Best Crawfish In Houston, Ranked

"At The Cajun Stop, crawfish fly out of the kitchen by the pound in piping-hot plastic bags. Sure, you can get your crawfish plain at this counter-service Cajun-Creole spot in EaDo. But order the butter garlic because it coats every crevice of the rich crawfish and helps you momentarily forget that you’re wearing a plastic bib. And when the spice starts to two-step on your tongue, make sure you have a cup full of pineapple and watermelon soda. The Cajun Stop is largely a takeout operation, but dine in to experience the staff kindly yelling from behind the counter to see if you’re enjoying your food." - gianni greene, julie takahashi, chelsea thomas

The 12 Best Sandwiches In Houston

"Sandwich: shrimp po’boy As with any reputable Cajun-Creole joint in this city, the folks at The Cajun stop in EaDo make a damn good po'boy. Every sandwich made here comes between two pieces of toasted french bread and is overflowing with pieces of deep-fried crab, crawfish, and catfish. But the Cajun seasoning on the shrimp po’boy here puts other shrimp po’boys around the city to shame. Order the foot-long po’boy with perfectly breaded pieces of shrimp filling up every bit of free space on the bread, and there will likely be enough left over to share with a friend or you in the future. The 15 Best Restaurants and Bars in EaDo (East Downtown) Houston

"A chill counter-service operation, The Cajun Stop serves Creole staples like crispy deep-fried catfish and shrimp, as well as bags of steamed snow crab legs sold by the pound. None of the food here skimps on the heat, which may be why there’s a fridge full of novelty sodas for you to grab as needed. Largely a takeout operation, if you dine-in you can expect staff to kindly yell from behind the counter to see if you’re enjoying your food and occasionally come from behind the counter to clear your table. OMG if I tell you, this is the best food that we have had in a long time. This is better than slap your mama seasoning.. I had the turkey neck bowl had potato season whale corn sausage with rice on the side and as you can see, we also had Seafood platter with catfish, fried shrimp, oysters, Hush puppies and red beans everything was absolutely delicious. I recommend this a 10 out of 10 and we will for sure be back. Thanks, Cajun stop for my good decorate no compliance here

I had the wings in garlic parmesan flavor. It was okay. The place was clean and neat. There is a plenty of parking space.

Got a seafood boil to go with blue crab, shrimp, mussels and I added 1 lb of crawfish. Boil is super bland and tastes like it hasn’t been washed properly, if at all. The blue crabs were over boiled to the point they were mushy and inedible. One was missing most of the meat from being so over cooked. The fries were good, I’d maybe stick to their fried food if you are to stop by. The servers and cooks were very nice, the food just wasn’t it.

Liz and Nikki were the best!! I mean the food is awesome def get the red beans and rice, hush puppies and a boil, they hit every spot. Liz and Nikki, those two were great hosts and made my first experience at Cajun Stop pretty sweet. Check them out, I’ll be back.

Delicious! I had a special request and it was honored. My cajun husband loved his seafood platter. Highly recommend!

I'm from Louisiana. This was probably the worst Louisiana themed food I've had in Houston. I ordered a small gumbo and a hot sausage po-boy. The gumbo is not really gumbo. It's hot water with black pepper and vegetables. More like a broth. True gumbo depends on the roux that must be heated and stirred to the proper color and consistency. Then add your other ingredients. I will not visit again.

I ordered the boil #3 that was supposed to come with 1/2 pound of shrimp, 1/2 pound of blue crab, (2) 1/2 sausage, 1 corn and 2 potatoes on door dash and 100% regret this purchase. I love blue crab and they are normally served whole so that is what I was thinking I would get. At bare minimum I was thinking I would get 2 full ones because 1 pound at my favorite place gets you 4-5, but nope they sold me some soggy pre-frozen, pre-cleared blue crab that you can buy in the frozen aisle at HEB. They gave me 2 small clusters, not whole ones, and they were so soggy and flavorless, the whole boil was bland, I recommend boiling the seafood in the flavor not adding it after! Never again!!

I was disappointed in my half pound of blue crabs (Boil #1). An uncleaned medium blue crab normally weighs about 1/3 lb. Based on that combined with being a long time consumer of blue crabs I thought maybe I would get two small crabs. This comes after asking the counter person how big were the crabs. Imagine my surprise when I got home and was excited to eat my meal only to find 3 halves of cleaned crabs so tiny that they weighed only 3 1/2 ounces.
