"Opening: November During the pandemic, Calabama owner Cara Haltiwange became famous for delivering her Alabama-inspired breakfast sandwiches and hot sauces via rope and bucket from the fourth-floor fire escape of her East Hollywood apartment. We were big fans. Now, after all the ups and downs (get it?), Calabama is opening a full brick-and-mortar space in West Hollywood. The menu will revolve around her signature breakfast grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with things like egg, bacon, and avocado, plus a few new Southern sides." - garrett snyder, sylvio martins

"For all the terrible things 2020’s given us, at least we can now get breakfast sandwiches dropped to us in buckets from apartment balconies. Seriously. Calabama is a weekend-only pop-up that operates out of an apartment in East Hollywood where the pick-up system literally involves a bucket drop from a top-floor fire escape. It’s a thrillingly hilarious experience, but make no mistake, the reason you’re really here is the tremendous breakfast sandwich. Stuffed with fluffy eggs, bacon, and avocado, it’s basically the world’s greatest breakfast grilled cheese - and that’s a superlative that should get absolutely everyone out of bed on a Sunday morning. Also, the chef makes her own excellent hot sauce that’s available by the bottle as well. Tip: Get some, that and then follow their Instagram for all the latest details." - Brant Cox

Friday evening fish and whole meal was great! Ordered today Monday and the only thing fitting to eat was the shrimp, bake potato was burnt and not done. No butter or sour cream. The slaw tasted bad like it’s been sitting all weekend.

The new homade sausage gravy is FANTASTIC!! I've been eating at Calabama for about 8 years now. Always loved their home style cooking, but I'm telling u from now on breakfast out will only be Calabama

Went with a big group, and got seated immediately, which was nice. Now, I love different, but this girl also loves some nice comfort food, and Calabama doesn't disappoint in that arena The atmosphere inside is laid back, and our waitress was awesome. Like I said, I love me some just good homey food, so I got a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with some sweet potato fries, and my MIL got grilled chicken sandwich and some tots. Casual, clean and fast...

Food is on point! My chicken fried steak was probably the best I've ever had. It was hand battered and had no greasy taste. The butterfly shrimp was also pretty good. Sweat potato fries were delicious and the coleslaw was fresh tasting. The waitress was really friendly and the atmosphere was peaceful. They also had fresh homemade desserts. I took home to strawberry rhubarb muffins, they were absolutely delicious. This is a great place to dine, I definitely will be back. Highly recommended!
