Performed work for one of their properties and 6 months later not paid. They appear to do this to contractors all over the country. I advise you stay away!

Our company was used as a subcontractor and they failed to pay the money owed for the work completed. Excuse after excuse, or better yet, no response at all when attempted contacts were made regarding payments owed. It seems to be common practice to bait subcontractors along long enough they fall out of the timeframe where payment is required. If you’re contacted by this company RUN. Run fast and far away.

We moved our mom into one of their complexes, that was owned by a different group. Calamar just recently purchased this complex. Rent went up 15% in Jan. It was a shock to most of these seniors who live on a fixed income! But now came the cut backs on the extra activities that the tenants enjoyed; monthly pancake & waffle breakfasts, weekly Friday doughnuts, monthly pot luck get togethers, Taco Tuesdays, etc. The turnover has been ridiculous! They’ve gone through at least 2 managers, one activities person and maintenance personnel. They’ve had numerous temporary employees! The most recent manager after a month or so, just left a few days ago! Finally, I decided to see who owns these properties after the recent purchase. And I’m not surprised by all the bad reviews. Especially, bad reviews from your former employees! No wonder you have so much turnover! PS your reviews on indeed are worse than on here. Shame on you! I wouldn’t recommend your complexes to anyone!

Will not pay. Owed over 200k for 3 months. Won’t respond to emails. They are a joke.

We completed work for Calamar 6 months ago. We are still waiting to get paid... Owner of project Paid Calamar in full months ago. Trying to connect with Calamar for answers is imposable!! Attention all Contractors - Stay away from Calamar - Bad News!!! Your response to my review is such B.S.!!!! I have called your office multiple times a week for the last 3 months with no reply. The only option I have is to leave this review on Google.. No my style, but I might as well let potential contractors and customers who they are getting involved with.

Calamar construction build s shoddy senior living complexes and then refuses to do repairs. At one of their facilities, I know of 4 different residents that have leaks in their ceilings, no heat, no hot water, and it goes on and on. They build a facilities and say they will include heat and hot water, which then don’t work. The management does lipservice as does the corporate office and has no interest in fixing any of the problems but just continuing to get their rent. They were smart enough to know that if you build facilities for people who can’t stand up for themselves (seniors), then they could just exploit them With little fear of reprisal. And their foundation is just an absolute scam And should be investigated by the IRS.

Calamar is a company out only for the profit. Focus is not on residents safety, proper maintenance or following housing code. Residents left with electrical issues, non working appliances and dangerous rugs.

Me as a owner of Busko Constuction Im very grateful for Calamar Construction management team for being a excellent local company in Erie country and more. Highly recommend.
