Calaveritas Taqueria Vegana

Genuinely my favorite food in Atlanta! I bring all my nonvegan friends here and they love it. The only note I’d make is that they even charge for just a cup of tap water, which is a little disappointing (especially as a regular customer!)

I had the Most Amazing experience my 1st and only time (will be back!). The food was authentic and incredibly delicious. The whole Crew/Staff is kind, generous, friendly, and inviting. By far, the best Vegan Mexican I’ve ever had. If you are ever in Atlanta, GA.. I highly recommend this place. Satisfaction Guaranteed 🌱™️

Greeted with a smile upon arrival and then served with superior and authentic Mexican vegan food. Cozy little set up in a PREP Kitchen area with a warm family restaurant feel. Hands down best vegan taco shop in the ATL. New batch of conchas and my sweets is delicious as well.

This has got to be some of the best vegan Spanish cuisine spots ever!! I was visiting ATL and stumbled across this place highly recommend trying it. The food definitely satisfies your cravings and exceeds your expectations! I tried the birria tacos and they were delicious 🤤

The food was AMAZING! I will definitely be coming back. The gentleman we ordered from was so nice. He answered all of our questions with patience and explained all of the menu options.

This place is FIRE. And not just “for a vegan place”. If I could leave 6 stars I would. My husband and I went here for the first time tonight and tried all protein options on street tacos, the birria tacos, and the chips and queso. Did we die and go to heaven, or dine at Calaveritas Taqueria? Hard to say. It’s that good.

Found this place on Google while searching for vegan tacos in town. After eating here for a few times now, Definitely its our favorite taco place since then. The menu had great options to choose from. We ordered taco trio : Pollo asado, asada, carnitas. Cheese quesadillas, guac and chips and aqua fresca. Everything was delicious 😋 Guacamole was fresh and yum! Service was fast this time, we ordered in the kiosk screen and it was pretty easy! The staff is kind and helpful. Go give them a try if you haven't already! You won't be disappointed 🌷 P.s - The blue corn tortillas were fire! I hope you can bring it back.

So, I'm huge about food, but aside from being vegan, I am also super picky. This place is amazing. I had the quesadillas and the cheese sauce. The cheese itself was absolutely amazing!! I'll be back just for that. I wish I had a photo, but I ate it before writing the review! The service was great! They are super kind, and I took mine to go but the place was very clean!

Although I myself am not vegan, I am always interested in new places and foods. There are some Mexican restaurants that wish they had food that packed as much flavor as this place does. Beyond impressed with everything I had. The nachos. The frescas. And man that quesadilla was incredible. The people were nice too!!

The only reason I would give them less than three stars is because they aren't in the metro Atlanta area! They are tucked away in a quiet industrial park, but their little corner was bustling! People from near and far made their way to this restaurant - and for good reasons! They offer many different "protein" options and their food has more the authentic Mexican vibe I crave. I got the tacto trio with three different proteins and my girlfriend got a chick'n burrito. It was so good, what we didn't eat, we took home and it didn't even make it to the front door! We also got agua frescas, the passionfruit piña was what we ordered and it was perfect! Lightly sweet, fruity, and fantástico! Thanks for the great experience

Vegan businesses are often on the margin, and this one was operating as a takeout window with a few outdoor tables in what looked like a warehouse district. For me, this was not an insignificant inconvenience given how long I'd driven to get there. However, the food was about as good as I could have hoped. Ordering tacos gave the opportunity to mix and match their protein options. They have a mix of soy, wheat, and mushroom, cooked to resemble Mexican traditional specialties that those of us shopping here can't eat. My tacos were beautifully prepared with double-layered blue corn tortillas and ample garnishes and sauces. There was a bit of an off-note crunch in one of them, but otherwise my tacos were loaded with flavor and textural contrast and were interesting to eat. I would be happy to try anything else they offer. Hopefully they can continue to grow and get into a real restaurant space.

I was in atlanta and someone recommended that i should checkout Calaveritas so i did. i placed an online order and got the nachos and the taco trio - the taco trio i could choose any 3 proteins and i ordered the mushroom, the one with papas/potatoes and a regular one to try the different varieties It was a bit difficult to locate the restaurant and after i picked up my order i had to go somewhere else so by the time i ate the food it wasn't completely hot which may have affected my review. the nachos were alright - a bit bland for my taste and i would've preferred more flavor. also, the chips do not hold up as within an hour they got soft the tacos were really good - the three variety of tacos plus the sides. as with the chips, they did become a different taste the later in the night

This very well may be the top Vegan food in Atlanta now. Easily the top vegan Mexican food with authentic flavors, but one of the best we've had anywhere. This was delicious and super awesome. Everything we had was perfection to the point we went twice the first week we discovered this spot! FYI, it's in the corner of the building and is a little window!

Ordered vegan jackfruit birria on Uber eats and it was unreal. Tasted like beef. Incredible and can't wait to try it again.

A very solid Vegan spot! The food is delicious and a pretty good portion. They have tables outside. The quesadillas were delicious! Quesabirria tacos were okay in my opinion but such a good alternative for those who cannot eat meat! Definitely will be visiting again and recommending to friends and family!

Vegan Mexican food. Yummy and incredibly filling. I need to go back for more, I had the carnita burrito, very full and fresh and tasty! Great personable service and once you find it you can choose to eat at one of their cafe tables or in your own car. I tried to wait, but it smelled so good I had some in the car. Oh yeah, give the brownie a chance, very good.

Definitely the best Latin American food that I have EVER had. When I say this is my favorite spot to eat when I'm in Atlanta it's hands down the best vegan restaurant here. The staff is super friendly, which adds to my 5 star rating. I'm huge on customer service and it was on point! The outdoor setting was super cute. Although I was eating on the go. If in the area, this is a must try!

So happy I found this place on IG, i visited their pop up in Snellville at Lincoln Fill Station. I must say, I was really impressed with their vegan birria tacos! The filling was nice & hot, and meaty (made from jack fruit), the only thing it was missing was cheese. The consumè was very flavorful as well. They made your order fresh so be patient, service was friendly. I also tried the "steak" quesadilla, it was ok...I enjoyed the green salsa that comes with all their food orders. I also tried the strawberry horchata, not bad but not great enough to reorder. Will definitely try more of their menu & reorder the birria!

The food was mind blowing. I've been vegetarian a long time and this is some of the best non dairy cheese I've ever had. The options were plentiful and Sergey provided exceptional customer service. 11/10

Just found this amazing Vegan Mexican spot and it hits the spot 10/10! I placed my order right at their walk up window and got handed a beeper for when my food is ready. Took no more than 10min and they looked busy! When I pulled in, they had people sitting out by their patio that had cute lights hanging above and your typical mariachi music to complete the mood! Loved everything about it. I didn't catch the name of the gentleman that took my order but he was incredibly nice and had a smile on his face the entire time -he deserves a raise! That customer service is hard to find these days. The food, PHENOMENAL! My expectations weren't super high because I always cook vegan Mexican at home (because there's NO Mexican places around here that are fully vegan) and Calaveritas shat all over my homemade cooking lol. Super flavorful and beautiful presentation as well. Would recommend 1000/10.

From the moment you walk up to the window and are greeted by the friendliest person I have met in the industry. You are immediately happy and sucked into the atmosphere of their vibe and culture. I chose the SF Mission Street Burrito. I was not disappointed. The flavors will transport you. I must admit I am not a vegan and was skeptical. I am hooked. This will be a stop every time we travel through Atlanta. A definite must try. You will go back. Thank you for some of the best food I ever eaten in Georgia. The entire crew is amazing. I have been really missing Mexican food since converting to vegetarianism. I have not been able to find vegan or vegetarian Mexican food ANYWHERE. Coming across this restaurant was SUCH an amazing ordeal lol. And the food is very tasty. I had the birria tacos. I can't wait to try more of the menu.

I've been a long supporter of Calaveritas, and they remain in my top three places to eat in Atlanta! They are a pop-up/food truck that travels in and outside the perimeter serving their delicious, vegan food. I grew up around authentic Mexican food and the tastes this business brings always transports me back to my childhood! They offer tacos, nachos, burritos, quesadillas, burrito bowls, and much more. They also have a variety of protein options to choose from. The customer service is always immaculate, even when they are busy with the orders from the long line you always get caught in... but it's worth the wait, trust me! Something else I appreciate about this business is they're always coming up with new ways to serve and satisfy their customers. They listen to our recommendations/wants, find ways to make the order and waiting process more efficient, and are always informing of any updates regarding their business and food. Delish vegan Mexican! Came here for the tacos-- got a 5 pack (to try all the protein options) & split it with my girl. All the fillings were AMAZING, I think my fave was al pastor. Hubby got a chicken & asada burrito, gave it a big thumbs up. My only ding is they don't have avocado :( Friendly service. Not too long of a wait. We came on Friday at La Bodega/The Window. Calaveritas never disappoints!! Everything I've ever tried from them has been amazing. This time we got the carne asada tacos, quesadillas and chips & queso. Everything was delicious. It was the first time I'd tried the queso and it was so good. Also their new spot is so cute and their staff is always so friendly and helpful.

The food is delicious! I got the nachos today (fire and huge) but have had the tacos and the burritos. All the vegan proteins are delicious, I think the carne asada is my favorite tho. The salsa are delicious and the spicy (they also have mild ones). The service is also really good. The guy who works the window is alway kind and will explain all the menu items if you not sure what to order. I highly Recommend this place if vegan or not, the food is unmatched .

This is one of the best vegan spots in Atlanta, if not the best. There is so much flavor and value in all of the dishes! I never get tired of eating the food and love their loyalty program, consistency and service!

Just ate here today with my wife. We got the 5 pack of tacos. We got 2 al pastor, 2 carne asada, which were very tasty, but I didn't really dig the mushroom taco, I didn't like the texture of the mushrooms. They were diced, and for mock carnitas I was expecting the mushroom to be shredded. I want to try their burrito next time I come. Over all it was a good experience, I highly recommend trying this place, the staff was really nice as well.

This VEGAN! mexican pop up is the absolute BEST! I love this place so much, and highly recommend their mission street burritos with any of the protein choices (you can not go wrong). They do an excellent job of filling up the burrito with rice beans cheese and the protein along with salsas, and it's well worth the price. If you go with another person, I would recommend getting two burritos with two different meats. They also recently rolled out nachos and I think they're VERY delicious! They have a jalapeño queso which is FIREEE and the beans?? like phenomenal. Can not recommend this place enough. Most of their locations where they pop up are breweries so there's ample parking and you get some fun drinks!

AMAZING!!! Caught these guys at a pop-up event at Red Hare Brewery in Marietta. They had an event for pups that involved a doggie fashion show but we came for the food! They had a tent set up outside. You can scan the QR codes on the tables, pay online and they bring the food inside. If you've never had Birria tacos, you NEED them in your life!! They're made from this delicious stew that perfects that sweet, sour and savory combo! Take all that, stuff it in a tortilla. But wait, there's more! It's then buttered in the same delicious stew then FRIED! A mouthful right?? Your tastebuds will thank you later! Wasn't sure how the vegan version of this would be. New to the plant based lifestyle. While I don't know all the ingredients of birria, it's typically beef stew that's slowly cooked until it's tender and fall-apart juicy deliciousness. Hmmm. Comparing it to what I've had in the past, this was amazingly delicious!! The consommé (the sauce that you dunk the tacos/quesadillas in) was sooo good; had chickpeas in it and I would eat it by itself. Couldn't tell that the jack fruit they used wasn't beef. We ordered a set of three tacos and quesadillas. Both were good but I liked the tacos more because they were crispy. Because we're such foodies, we wanted to try other items. So we ordered street tacos. If you get the platter ($3 more) it's served with Mexican rice and refried beans. We tried the 3 below. They also have Soyrizo (soy protein chorizo) and Al Pastor (handmade adobo seitan served with pineapples) to choose from. Asada - The guy called it the "crowd favorite". Of the three we tried, it was actually my least fav. Still really good but I liked the others better. Pollo Asado - their version of grilled chicken. Liked this one too!! Good flavor and texture. Added a little bit of lime on all of them after the first bite and just gave it an extra boost of flavor!! Carnitas - marinated grilled oyster mushrooms. This was by far my favorite!! The mushrooms were hecka flavorful and absolute greatness!!! I will probably order all Carnitas next time. Thank you all sooo much for the great food!! This place has such great vegan Mexican food! We went on a Thursday even though it says closed on Thursdays here on Yelp. We ordered the jackfruit birria tacos (3 for $15) and chips and queso ($9). Both were really good! The green salsa was excellent on the tacos! We will definitely come back!

Wow! The joy when you experience the food is worth the insanely long wait! *insert crying face* I've been to many vegan festivals over the years where Calaveritas was vending, but never made the commitment to the long line until now. And I'm so happy I did!! And I now understand why everyone gets in this line!! I had the birria quesadilla (I'm not sure if Calaveritas invented this concept of putting birria tortillas as a quesadilla shell, but THANK YOU to whoever did!!!). The filling was a delicious, tender, savory jackfruit (have I mentioned I LOVE when places offer whole foods as meat replacements?!?). HEAVEN. No doubt they deserve 5 stars for the food!! I only cannot give due to the extreme wait time, but I understand they're a pop up business, and a very popular one at that! It takes time to make food that lovely, so I get it. I hope they can improve on the wait as time goes on. My game plan will be to arrive early and be first in line at future events! Thank you Calaveritas!!

The best vegan Mexican in Atlanta (Semilla is very good too but fancier/pricier) and as good as anything I've had anywhere in the US...and as Johnny Cash once sang, I've been everywhere man. Run don't walk to the mighty Calaveritas. Incredibly friendly helpful people as well. Sure the locale isn't ideal if you want to eat there (a few little outdoor tables in a non descript office park) and a proper sit down restaurant would be great, but the food is so good it doesn't matter.

We never begin a review without thanking our friends at Yelp for creating a platform so we can share the customer experience. This weeks review is on Calaveritas Taqueria. I consider myself a taco connoisseur and love a good taco as well as make good tacos using ground turkey but Calaveritas Taqueria is another level of tacos. This is not your average street taco. Not only are FLAVORFUL but Vegan. If you are looking for a healthy alternative to meat this is your best option. The magical dipping sauce elevates your palate to a new level of appreciation for a vegan taco. They pop up around the city so I would recommend following their instagram page and give them a try. Warning you will become addicted and will find creative ways to eat tacos often.

I fell in love at first bite. This pop up plays no games. The flavors are not overly spicy for those that can't hang. They have a variety of offerings to fill tacos, quesadillas or burritos. So far my favorite is the mission street burrito which is so reminiscent of the huge Mission Street burritos I grew up on in San Francisco. The chorizo is amazing. These days, they are usually out on the weekends at different breweries across the metro area.

I came across this vendor in the Vegan Atlanta group. They do lots of pop-ups in the metro area. Luckily for me, they were in Marietta yesterday at Red Hare Brewery. Trying them out was our best decision of the day! My husband ordered the birria tacos and I ordered an asada quesadilla. Man oh man! Absolutely delicious! The "cheese" in my quesadilla could fool any non-vegan! The birria tacos were better than the real thing, according to hubby. I can't wait for them to do another pop-up in Marietta! Further, they confirmed that all of their food is dairy and NUT-FREE which is huge for me, since my son has food allergies and I was able to share with him.

I wasn't able to take a picture because the food was that good!!! I got the quesabrirria taco platter and It had so much flavor and the presentation was amazing! The pictures that you see in the reviews and online are accurate! This is definitely a place to stop by especially if you are vegetarian (like me) or vegan! The service was great! I wish i got his name but he was so hospitable, competent, informative, and patient! The agua frescas are refreshing and I can't wait to come back and try something else!

Been rocking with y'all since Atl Food truck days and they never missed once! The best vegan tacos in GA by far ! I always try to make it whenever they sell food. and the best part is they usually do it at a brewery. This place has horrible business practices. I ordered two (3) taco meals. I was provided an eta on the delivery, plus a five-minute away update. After still waiting on the order thirty minutes after the scheduled delivery time. I called the number on the website and got no answer. I then sent them a DM via Instagram only to be told that the order never left and it was the delivery company's fault. They had the nerve to say that this happens very often. The accountability of this place is unsatisfactory. Thanks for nothing.

Best vegan tacos you will ever find! everything in their menu is amazing and they are very nice people. I have tried other vegan Mexican food but they are truly the best ones. I've been vegan for 10 years but all my friends who are not fall in love with their good! You will not be disappointed.

You want delicious vegan Mexican food?? THIS IS THE PERFECT PLACE. I would go to a bunch of vegan Mexican restaurants and none of them are as good as calaveritas. This place is authentic and has FLAVOR. They have great customer service and are always nice. Their berria is amazing and I can't believe it's plant based. I always leave satisfied with my food. 10/10 would recommend.

Y'all have to try this food!! It's super authentic, Mexican inspired food I highly recommend it even to y'all meat eaters as well. My favorite are the tacos, as a new vegetarian every time I'm craving a meat taco I count the days down till they open up so I can get my lil taco realness.

As a transplant from Cali, their tacos and loaded potatoes always hit the spot. Ask for extra of the green salsa, it's the perfect addition to the seasoned "pollo". Oh and their refried beans are the best I've had around town.
