Unassuming tavern featuring Scottish whiskeys & traditional bites such as steak & kidney pie.
"At this cozy Scottish hideaway, grab a glass of something special, like the complex 12-year-old Glendronach or the hefty, peaty 18-year-old Highland Park. The kitchen turns out familiar fare from across the Atlantic like Scotch eggs and fish and chips. There’s an additional location on the Upper East Side." - Paul Schrodt
"Caledonia is, above all, a whiskey bar. They have an enormous scotch selection, a large number of snifters, and plenty of Irish and American whiskey as well. That said, it isn’t the sort of place where you have to whisper and swirl your glass before you take a drink. Mostly, it just feels like a relatively calm pub that happens to have a lot of brown liquid in stock. The little space is long and narrow, with a bar up front and a few tables in back, and it works for anything from date night to a drink with your parents." - will hartman, bryan kim, neha talreja, matt tervooren
"We’re going to go out on a limb and assume that Caledonia is owned by the same people behind The Hamilton because a) they have a large supply of whiskeys, and b) they have a very similar set of house rules. This is also the sort of pub where you can order a cocktail and not feel like a jerk. They won’t mind making you a Manhattan, and you can safely bring either your parents or a date." - bryan kim
