"Everyone knows the old adage about being on the right side of the train tracks, but what about being under them? That’s the story of this humble Peruvian cevicheria, set just a few steps north of the John F. Kennedy International Airport. Cushy pillows atop tree trunks act as chairs outside; inside, by the door, speakers blare with Latin beats. No need to debate what to order: leche de tigre is the star, paraded out in a giant martini glass filled with thinly sliced octopus, scallops, shrimp, and set afloat in an electrifying elixir of lime juice and ginger. But perhaps the most surprising dish of all is the pork tamal, hidden away in the corner of the carte. Please visit this restaurant! Upon entering, I was greeted super kindly by the staff and immediately seated. It was my first time, so the waitress gave me an explanation of their specialities and gave me her recommendations. We ordered the Choritos a la Chalaca, Ceviche Mixto, and the Chaufa de Mariscos, and to drink, the Maracuya Sour. Everything was so, so fresh and delicious. Definitely an unexpected gem in the middle of Richmond Hill/Jamaica. Additionally, the restaurant has really beautiful decorations, it's cozy, and they were playing really nice music.

Google
How can l give them 10 stars??? Have you ever been in a place where, just when you go through the door you feel at home?... ...well, this is one of those places... I love peruvian food, and been from there l can feel the mastering in the execution of a peruvian dish, the main ingredients are, love and peruvian hands... Yanet and her Husband had created the perfect place to go back to the moments in my life when l used to watch my mother and family making peruvian food "the right way". Besides the exquisit taste and outstanding presentation of the dishes, is the cara and personal attention that you receive there. The prices are really fair in comparison with the whole experience you will get in your visit... ...l am a regular already, and they will take care of the caterings of my business.. This place is a must, don't miss it!!!

Amazing food, place, service! The fish feel just catched! Very fresh! High quality products. We ate ceviche and causa acevichada. You will feel you are on a beach eating ceviche with your beer, best combo ever!

Google
A wonderful gem on Jamaica. Best ceviche I have had in N Americs. Authentic and delicious!! Cool atmosphere with indoor or outdoor seating. Two thumbs up on the pisco sours. Will definitely return!

Google
What a great hidden gem! The food is great and extremely fresh seafood! The ceviche mixto was flavorful and great portion to share. The highlight of the meal was the dessert, homemade ice cream that was creamy and unique! Will definitely go back!!

Excellent ceviche. Very fast service.

Google
Probably the best ceviche I’ve had in NY. The ceviche is an authentic Peruvian style that has alot of flavor and passion placed in the dish. The environment is really friendly, with waiters constantly checking up on you to make sure everything is perfect. The chicha morada is fantastic with a homemade taste to it. Honestly one of the best peruvian cevicheria in NYC. Will be coming back for sure.

Yelp
Caleta 111 is a culinary gem in Richmond Hill! This place NEVER disappoints. My husband and I have dined here a few times, and have ordered takeout just as much. Honestly, if I could eat this every day, I would. The menu offers a journey through vibrant, sometimes unexpected, yet surprising flavors and thoughtful dishes. My personal favorites are the Tiger's Milk, Lomo Saltado, Chica Morada, and cancha - which is a perfect snack on its own! The Tiger' Milk is an explosion of fresh, tangy and savory flavors that excite the palate, while the Lomo Saltado is the ultimate comfort food - perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with bold flavors. If you're looking for something different, order the Chaufa de Mariscos. From the very first bite, we got instant dopamine hits - the unexpected flavors were a sensory experience that left us saying "ooh!" with each bite. Don't leave without ordering the Chicha Morada. Its a definite must-have. This refreshing, cold Peruvian purple corn drink is lightly sweet with hints of cinnamon and clove that make you feel at home. It's like a non-alcoholic mulled wine, but better - comforting and reminiscent of Christmas, pure perfection in a glass. [I think they rotate desserts, but if the Peruvian ice cream is on the menu, definitely try it. I'll be back to try the others.] The staff is always attentive and friendly. Whether it's your first time or 10th time, they'll ensure you have a great experience. If you're unfamiliar with something on the menu, ask and they're more than happy to explain and recommend dishes that suit your tastes. This definitely adds to the cozy vibes of the restaurant. The decor is another standout feature, most of it seemingly handmade - I think I've seen them working on a few pieces in the past (I live in the neighborhood). Every detail feels intentional, with a personal touch that perfectly complements the amazing food. From the appetizers, to the desserts, you can taste the quality and care that the chefs put into every item on the menu. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, Caleta 111 is more than a meal - it's a flavorful adventure I know I'll return to time and time again.

Yelp
My husband brought me here on our anniversary. It's a very vibrant colored nautical themed place. We were greeted by the chef who was very nice as was all of the staff. Now the ceviche. We shared the Leche de tigre, which was amazing and we paired with a Pisco sour. We did not realize just how big this was. In hindsight, we should have bought one each and that would be a great meal. We each had the Ceviche de Corvina which was also delicious. However, the Leche de Tigre steals the show for me. For dessert, we each had an alfajore which tasted like those delicious homemade type. Looking forward to coming back.

Michael G.

Yelp
Found this place on Michelin Guide, it's Bib Gourmand. In the middle of a random residential area in Queens. Very cool location. I loved driving into the area. Food: 1. Ceviche de Corvina Extremely fresh seafood, perhaps fresh as a top tier sushi spot, very fulfilling ingredients. I felt healthy and my stomach felt grateful after eating this. The meal almost felt probiotic. Had a pleasant texture. The tigers milk marinade gave everything a flavor-bomb explosion sensation, extremely sour and tangy (almost too much), crispy flavor, salty, and slightly spicy. Every tastebud felt overwhelmed in a good way. The sweet potato balanced everything off nicely. Amazing 2. Tiger's Milk - Leche de Tigre Same type shit. Except had different types of seafood (shellfish instead). The combination of seafood was fun and it was served in a cool ass glass, but the Corvina ceviche destroys this one. This one might have been even a little too sour/tangy, and that's crazy because I love very sour ceviche. They also skimped on the sweet potato on this one. Also skimped on the seafood a little in general. Still fantastic flavor though ! 3. Alfajores (cookies) w dulce de leche ice cream Alfajores are a classic South American cookie, it seems. Tasted like a short bread with caramel. Peruvian caramel ice cream. Simple but perfect. Sometimes less is more. My friend got one of the soups and the broth tasted magnificent! I forgot which one it was but I believe it was the Aguadito de Mariscos. I'll definitely come back and get the soup next time. Ambience: 4.5/5 Decor was cool, casual vibes. Fit the theme of the food. Nothing crazy tho. They were playing South American style covers of classic songs. There was a chair made from a canoe which was dope . Service: Service was good, workers kind and helpful. They came by and made sure they got our order correct because the first waitress didn't speak English. They were attentive ! Overall I'd give a 4.5/5 - definitely deserved Michelin guide Bib Gourmand. For Yelp sake I'll round up to a 5 !

Yelp
(Español abajo) I am a serious Peruvian food enthusiast but at the same time very picky. Most Peruvian places in the city are like watered down fast food, or else just not authentic. This place is the real deal! The ambience is very unassuming, casual hole in the wall with a beach vibe, but the food is a home run. The service is good. Also I am in a wheelchair and the entrance is accessible. I ordered ceviche de corvina, arroz con mariscos, and chicha morada. Everything was super fresh, flavors well balanced, beautifully presented, and as close to eating in Peru as you can get. They earned that extremely hard to get Michelin star deservedly! A little out of my way but I will be back. Se merecen esa estrella Michelin porque la comida es riquísima, bella en su presentación, y a la vez muy auténtica y tradicional. Soy muy difícil de impresionar en cuanto a los restaurantes peruanos, pero éste sí me dejó muy impresionada.

Marco G.

Yelp
This is the best ceviche and jalea I've had outside of Peru when I went many years ago. Although the plates were a little pricey, they did not skimp out on flavor and the portions were just right. Service was quick and friendly and the restaurant had a coastal theme with an almost punk vibe with the mix of dark and vibrant colors. This restaurant's was recognized by Michelin and I see why, you can taste the ocean from the freshness of the fish used and just writing this makes me wish I could go back to New York for more right now!

Melissa D.

Yelp
This is truly a neighborhood gem! The food is absolutely delicious and fresh. We ordered the ceviche mixto and chaufa de mariscos with chicha morada. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside. You're instantly transported away from the bustling noise of Jamaica Ave and sent to a warm and inviting home with a lot of boho details. A MUST TRY!

Adrian P.

Yelp
Great seafood - not overwhelmed with additives. Sweetheart hostess. Mellow atmosphere.

Korinn L.

Yelp
The best Peruvian food in Long Island and Queens hands down!!! Best service and decor! The ambience and aesthetics I've seen in a while! Will definitely be back

Edward E.

Yelp
It's hard finding good fresh authentic Peruvian ceviche in NYC. Now trying to find that in Queens is almost impossible. I came here to celebrate a bday and boy was I happy I chose this establishment, the ceviche was amazing and fresh just all around amazing. Had the lomo and jala as well just all around good. Service was impeccable as well can't wait to come back.

Laura V.

Yelp
Everything about this place is amazing. The staff is super friendly and the decor is so unique and fun! Now the food -- the menu is 1 page and every dish is delicious and presented beautifully. My personal favorite was the abre boca appetizer, the ceviche mixto and the drink chicha.

Kayde M.

Yelp
Visited on several occasions and the food always slaps! ( as my teen daughter would say) A little corner spot in Richmond hill that has great Peruvian seafood

Amanda G.

Yelp
Michelin recommended authentic Ceviche in Richmond Hill!!! The owner is a star and makes the experience even better! Had the tiradito (not on the menu but you should ask for it!) superb. Best ceviche in NYC.

Carmen R.

Yelp
Excellent ceviche and tamales. Food is great all around. You must try this place ! Friendly and attentive staff. Enjoyable experience.

Salvador T.

Yelp
We had dinner here after seeing Caleta featured in the NYT top 100 restaurants. The food was superb and the seafood was incredibly fresh. The mixed ceviche was so hearty and I had the best tamales I've ever had here. The mussels appetizer was flavorful and the yuca fries delicious. The service was incredible and very attentive. The ambience makes you feel like you're on a beach getaway while dining on coastal cuisine. What a perfect NY date night - Caleta really shows you how you can get the best food from all over the world in NYC. This will be one of our new fav places to go to from now on! What a gem!

Meiling H.

Yelp
The foods are awesome. This is the best ceviche I ever had. My friend order this seafood paella, it has a lot of seafoods in there. Deceleration is very characteristic. Service is nice. Awesome place in this area

Nicole D.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING . We enjoyed every bite of our food. It was all so fresh and the flavors were incredible - unlike anything I've ever had in my life!!! Service and ambiance was wonderful as well . Truly an experience

Chu 0.

Yelp
Excellent!!!!!! A bit pricey but very good! Employees that work there would help you if it's your first time getting some seafood from them. First time for me and I got mixto! Small menu but you won't need anything more..

Daniel S.

Yelp
A hidden Gem in NYC . I went yesterday with my wife and the whole experience completely exceeded my expectations. We order the Leche de Tigre, Arroz con Mariscos and the Causa de pulpo al Olivo , and let me tell you , Each dish was espectacular. I am an avid fan of Peruvian food and this place is IT. The presentation, the service , the layout of the restaurant , i couldn't stop telling my wife that for moments I felt like I was in Lima , next to the ocean eating seafood, the flavor is so original that for moments it took back there . Chef Robert was so welcoming too, he came out to greet us, we spoke for a little and told us a little of the restaurants backgrounds and his as well. Overall our experienced as excellent, Caleta 111 is a heaven for ceviche lovers like myself , can't wait to be back a try out the rest of the items in the menu .

Cyrus P.

Yelp
The food was very good. Hate the location and the trains can really kill the vibe, but the food is excellent. The chef pays attention to all the details and it shows. We have been back twice already for takeout.

Brian W.

Yelp
Part of me wants to like this place. The chaufa de mariscos is a beautiful and tasty piece of art but it's difficult to eat-- you have to ask them for a shell cracker and whatnot as they don't provide one by default. Ceviche is all done with tiger's milk, it's done up pretty but if you're expecting more traditional lime juice and spice it's not it. The octopus we had was pleasant enough but it didn't live up to its looks. Lomo saltado was good quality beef but was waaaaay too salty on the sauce, quite disappointing. Interior is fashionable and fun, language barriers made it fun to communicate a friend's no-dairy status, but in the end it wasn't enough to excite us. And the final killer was they refused to let us pay with credit card-- they insisted cash-only-- despite the fact that they use Clover and have all the stickers saying they accept credit cards on the door. Extremely irritating.

Johnny D.

Yelp
First time here. I had business in the area and was looking for a good spot. Saw this place as and it caught my attention because you can see the chef working from the corner window. All out in the open. I'm a ceviche fan so decided to try. Ordered the ceviche mixto. The server help me was nice and attentive. Took a couple of minutes because the chef prepared it fresh. He actually brought it out to me at the counter to examine and gave be a break down of the ingredients. He also brought me a shot glass with the left over juice. It was delicious. Flavor bomb, authentic flavors. They packed my bag and I took it home to enjoy. I just finished and left some for my wife to get her opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed it. $19 hit, but money well spent for good fresh food. They take cards. Space is a little small. They just opened a month ago. I wish them well because I will be back.

Sal L.

Yelp
First time here having only read some of the great reviews. I ordered some takeout ceviche mixto which was delicious! I ordered it medium-spicy which was hotter/spicier than expected but nothing I couldn't handle. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was given a nice portion which contained a wonderful mixture of various seafood, with toasted corn and a few strips of fried plantain. The restaurant is very tiny, but seems cozy. I'll have to visit again before I feel comfortable giving a 5-star review, but this order was a solid 4, no doubt.

Brihanna S.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Doesn't look like much from outside but when you step inside the decor is absolutely beautiful! The canoe seating was definitely the coolest part of the decor. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The ceviches were delicious!!!! Would definitely return to try more items from their menu!

Kenneth S.

Yelp
This is my second time here. I wanted to make sure the experience and quality did not change and let me tell you, this place does not miss! Today i had a mixed ceviche and my girlfriend had the shrimp ceviche. The freshness is unmatched. This place is a little pricey but worth every penny. A hidden gem in my opinion. They bring to the table what many ceviche place do not. The uniqueness and presentation of their dish was spot on.

Hind R.

Yelp
The best Ceviche I've ever had. We ordered the shrimp ceviche and the mixed ceviche. It was so fresh and so delicious. The place looks so small from the outside but we were in for a surprise! The atmosphere was so chill and they put a lot of though into every detail inside. The staff was friendly and organize. I definitely recommend it.

Mari T.

Yelp
I'm so excited that this amazing restaurant has opened in Richmond Hill. The seafood is extremely fresh and delicious. I had the corvina fish ceviche that was full of those lime tarte flavors. It was a good size portion that is very filling and good when you are hungry. The only rice dish on the menu was my personal favorite. It's like a Peruvian paella but better! With mussels, shrimp, crab and scallops and the rice is delicious. We also had the king fish soup that is a huge favorite. Can't wait to come back and try the other ceviches was well as their desserts.

Joseph T.

Yelp
We ordered the ceviche mixto and the leche de tigre. They're priced at $29 for the mixto and $35 for the Tigre. The Tigre came with half of a soft boiled crabbed. The sauce for both was delicious and it came with hefty portions of seafood including juicy mussels, shrimp, scallops, and octopus. It's flavorful and the perfect dish for a hot summer day.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
I had the ceviche mixto and it was so good! It was fresh and had really great flavor. I will return to try more of their dishes.

Brenda F.

Yelp
Definitely a HIDDEN GEM!! The food is delicious. I ordered a ceviche, causa acebichada and the arroz con mariscos and all of the dishes did not disappoint me. If you want good peruvian seafood this is the place to come!

Edward A.

Yelp
Went there for a special occasion. It did not disappoint. We had the Tigre, corvina, and camarones ceviche. All were 10/10. We also had the lomo salteado which was excellent but the highlight were the Ceviches. Ambience was lovely, interesting art on the walls and a bohemian Feel. Can't wait to go back.

Meranda Y.

Yelp
Amazing food. Drove out from sunset park to queens to try it out and it did not disappoint. Plus the staff was so friendly and hospitable. I will definitely be coming back if they do outdoor seating. Got 2 different types of ceviches to go.

Jean P.

Yelp
Small place but amazing food , great flavor relax ambiance and friendly service ! Definitely wIll Come back . Strongly recommended

Dangello P.

Yelp
At first I didn't believe the hype, but this is hands down, best leche de tigre in NYC. Never thought I would find a Michelin restaurant under the J train in Queens, but this spot is a hidden gem. Prices are a bit above average but well worth it. TRUST.

Janna Y.

Yelp
This is such a cute place. The King Fish soup is a must try. I haven't had that flavor in such a long time and it really brings back memories of my childhood. Please try this place and support it. It's so nice to have good fresh fish in this area of Queens and not have to make the trek to manhattan or Brooklyn somewhere.

Nathaly R.

Yelp
Looooove this place! Totally recommend! My fiancé and I went in because we live near by and wanted to try a new place. He loves seafood and specially ceviche. He had the shrimp causa and I had the Leche De Tigre. The causa was $18 and the Leche de tigre was $21. I think the portion was perfect for the price. The leche de tigre was very BIG and it had octopus - it doesn't say it on the menu. So if you don't like octopus beware. It doesn't come with rice and a real ceviche shouldn't! But I'm Ecuadorian and we usually eat it with rice so we ordered a side of rice and their sweet corn- it was DELICIOUS !! The server was very nice and the food came within 15 minutes. Overall our bill was $49 and we left VERY full. The place is small, but it is beautifully decorated. It looks like it belongs in downtown brooklyn. Loved it.

Jay G.

Yelp
Fresh seafood this is place is made from chefs from Peru , authentic Peruvian ceviche and it does have other variety of plates. Chef and waitress make you feel comfortable.

Jully F.

Yelp
I really want to like this restaurant. The place is small but love de décor, it's really cute!! And I was expecting amazing food because it is insanely priced!!. But very disappointed because food is average, I had way better for cheaper. We tried different plates, it wasn't horrible, but for the price it's average. I do want to point about the service was excellent. All the waitresses were very attentive & very nice.

Vanessa T.

Yelp
This restaurant is AMAZING! This place offers probably the BEST CEVICHE I've ever had in my entire life! And I've tried plenty before so this is a BIG DEAL! I'm such a ceviche fan that I had to give this a try. From the minute you walk into this place is truly a great and unforgettable experience! The location is just so intimate and relaxing and just so chilled that you're not going to want to leave. The staff is beyond nice & profesional! And the best word to describe them is HUMBLE! I loved every second I spent in this place. Let's just say I'll definitely come back for more, over and over again & introduce people to this lovely new added gem to the neighborhood. I'm so happy I came across this wonderful restaurant. You'll Probably wait a bit for your food but just know that your ceviche is being prepared fresh to order! And it's well worth the wait. I can't wait to go back for more.

SONIA R.

Yelp
I must said it's one of thE best spots to eat seafood Peruvian food . The food it's fresh and takes time so don't come in a rush to eat the wait will be long . Place it's clean and the ambient it's cozy . Unfortunately no kids Menu so if you have children you can buy food from next door and bring in to eat Also thE restaurant it's very SMALL it's inconvenient if you planing to come with a large group will be difficult... They do have delivery service . My 5 stars are for the food , it's really delicious .The service it's ok . This is my 4th time here hope tHey Will expand to a bigger Place . Overall my husband and I enjoy it . Highly recommend spot !! A hole on the wall , Definitely Delicious very Humble the chef /owner Luis. Congratulations and wishing this place the best hope they will expand .

Crystal C.

Yelp
My mother and I were in the area and found this cute little joint. We had the chaufa de mariscos and we were not disappointed. The portion is generous, the flavors are all there, and the seafood is fresh. We both left full even though we wanted more-it was so delicious! I'd most definitely come back!

Linett N.

Yelp
The service was great the server was very polite and happy to be here.... I think it's a family owned restaurant but anywhooo I ordered the mixed ceviche it was very fresh. Unfortunately I felt I should have ordered the rice to compliment the tigers milk. Over all if I want ceviche you should definitely come here!

Fairuz R.

Yelp
Very cute and intimate place! The food is fresh and very good! I will say it's a but pricey but it was worth it!

Jermaine C.

Yelp
This is probably the freshest Peruvian food I have ever had. The king fish soup is absolutely flawless! Ceviche mixto... flawless. Absolute must try for anyone needing a sea food kick.

Leticia W.

Yelp
This place is INSANELY overpriced. One ceviche is $29 and it's practically an entire bowl of just onions. It is way way too expensive. Especially unaffordable prices for the neighborhood so it's not catering to locals whatsoever. They have raised prices at least twice now. Before it was around $21 (still too expensive for what you get). I counted 11 little cubes of fish in my bowl. They think by covering it up with a third of onion slices it looks like a complete dish. But this is a total rip off. It's a shame because it's good food but the owner shouldn't treat people like idiots charging $30 for an onion. I will never come back again. Better off going to La Cevicheria in Rockaway, you get way more fish and it's $16 and excellent.

Ozzie F.

Yelp
Without a doubt, this is the best ceviche in all of Queens. The owner and chef is a true master of his craft, you can see his excitement while he prepares your ceviche. Definitely give it a try, its worth the higher price point.

Cate S.

Yelp
This place is SO GOOD! Everything we've tried there is absolutely delicious. Portions are great. My one star withholding is for the price. It's not affordable to get every week at around $30 a pop. I get they're using fresh ingredients but those prices only draw certain customers in this neighborhood, and seems a bit out of place. They used to have a great combo (2 for a better price) deal but it was taken away presumably due to the pandemic and restaurants needing more revenue. We go there for special occasions now but would like to go more often if the prices were better. The food is amazing and definitely worth checking out.

Amrit V.

Yelp
For a person who had been to Peru I have to say this is the most authentic ceviche spot i ever been to. I got the ceviche mixto with the de Tigre. It's amazing to see how they have expanded and how great the space look. As we were eating the chief came out and greeted us asked about the dish and gave us his card. Honestly great service and great food.

Ant N.

Yelp
Order ceviche mixto.. really Good ceviche , extremely fresh . Nice atmosphere Definitely will return to try other

M N.

Yelp
This is, without a doubt, the best Peruvian ceviche you can eat in New York. It is clear that the chef inspects every piece of fish and has a fish monger that is worth her/his weight in gold. Each piece of corvina is cut to perfection and marinated for just the right amount of time. If you live, breathe, and eat ceviche, this is the place for you. I can, however, only speak to the ceviche de corvina. My only real criticism is that this restaurant and menu lack creativity. It is not only expensive, but the portions are small and there is nothing else on the menu. (For example, the last five times I've been there, there has been no mazamorra morada... even though it's on the menu.) The free cancha is literally one handful. And the plantain chips, are okay, but cost $5? A high-end cevicheria should either have larger portions (you're paying an entree price for something that is barely an appetizer) and/or offer other foods that compliment the ceviche. Oysters, clams, french fries... seaweed, edamame, something... Peruvian green hot sauce and rocotto are two of the most amazing condiments in the gastronomical world. Incorporate them somehow! Unlimited cancha... I'm sorry, but charging $5 for extra cancha is some OTHER level Peruvian cheapness. (And trust me, I know, have lived, and embody a great deal of Peruvian cheapness!!!) Again, the ceviche is out of this world. I've only had better ceviche a handful of times in Peru. But I'm not sure I'm headed back there. It's like you have to eat beforehand and eat after. And you have to prepare to spend $100 there...
