15 Places to Buy To-Go Pie Around D.C.

"Double-crusted apple pie is one of Little Red Fox’s most popular bakery items. Each pie, sold whole or by the slice, includes almost two pounds of apples nestled within an all-butter crust. The neighborhood café and market also serves quiche, savory hand pies, and other seasonal pies. Spiced plum pie is also available for now. Order takeout or delivery online, and pair pie with a black pepper maple latte." - Lisa Ruland

Kiyah is kind, cool, and extra competant. Thank you, Kiyah. Music is relaxing not a jack hammer. Architecture lifts pierced hearts to heaven. Cascading flowers ohhhhhh. Thanks for reminding me to call my mother. Not sure how much longer she'll be with us here down below. Ave Mama. Time for reconciliation. This is a nice place. Bagel and coffee were tasty.

**Service:** Every Sunday, Call Your Mother sets up a stall at the farmers market in Silver Spring, and while the line is typically long, I decided to give it a try this past Sunday. To my surprise, the line moved much quicker than I expected, which was a pleasant start. The customer service was fantastic—friendly, personable staff who were more than willing to answer questions and offer recommendations. **Taste:** I went with the everything bagel with veggie cream cheese, and it was absolutely delicious! It was tough to choose with so many great options, but I wasn’t disappointed. The flavor was spot on, and the bagel had that perfect balance of crunch on the outside and softness on the inside. **Ambiance:** While it's just a stall at the farmers market, the energy is fun and welcoming. Everyone is eager to try the bagels, and the upbeat atmosphere makes the wait enjoyable. Plus, it’s a great addition to the farmers market scene in Silver Spring. **Recommendation:** If you’re in the area on a Sunday and see the Call Your Mother stall, definitely give it a try—even if the line looks long, it moves fast! I also picked up some bagels and cream cheese to go and can’t wait to enjoy them all weekend. It was so good, I had to call my mom to tell her about it!

Google
delightful service and as always delicious bagels! The Horizon bagel was delicious, their everything bagels are some of the best in the DMV

Google
Fun and creative bagel sandwiches. It can get pretty busy on the weekends but the line moves pretty quickly. The bagel sandwich with Fritos is very good! There’s indoor and outdoor seating

Google
super tasty both sweet and savoury bagels! the shop itself is rather small if you want to sit in, finding a spot might be harder. super worth trying and they sell lots of fun merch and treats to go.

Google
This is the only breakfast place in the area and they know it. The bagels are pretty good, but the cream cheese selection is lackluster. Further, unless you're getting candied salmon cream cheese, they never put enough of spread on. You'd think it would be the opposite considering the other spreads don't have meat, but I'm consistently underwhelmed with the sweet cream cheeses in particular, they rarely have enough spread to cover both halves of the bagel. The pricing is pretty high compared to other bagel places, but this is the only option in the area so I can't reasonably complain about it much.

Google
Tim was very welcoming and helped us get oriented in the new shop! The bagel sandwiches have fun flavor combinations and were really delicious. Such a cute aesthetic inside too. Kind people and delicious food!

Google
The grandeza sandwich was extremely well balanced, great flavors, just slightly spicy. Good price for what you get. If you order online DO NOT use the guest checkout, your order will get canceled and refunded 10-15 min later. Only use the toast checkout.

Yelp
This place is too cute and the employees are friendly! I fell in love with the salmon bagel. I did remove the capers (too salty for me) and it was still great. On my way out, I got to try their seasonal guava raspberry donut which was delish. You just can't go wrong with soft, chewy, dough! I loved the acidity, but found it a bit too sweet.

Yelp
Another stellar call your mother location! I found parking to be easier at this location compared to the others - there's a little lot, and lots of street parking with open space nearby. The quality of the food is always on point, and I love the GF yuca bagel options. Service is also always great, despite how busy they are. And ambiance is cute as usual - just check out my photos!

Yelp
Can you say life changing? I just recently moved to DC from CA and this was my first bagel here and it was so delicious. I had the chicken sausage breakfast sammy on a maple salt and pepper bagel (this was a divine combination). The staff was super nice and was apologetic when they couldn't make a dietary change...no biggie at all. I also had the seasonal iced hibiscus tea and yum! Not a lot of seating inside, but chairs turned over pretty fast. For sure want to go back for lunch!

Yelp
My first time at this deli and was super impressed. We stopped for breakfast. The menu was so creative. Despite all the options, they will even let you build your own bagel sandwich. I opted for a latke, bodega egg, cucumber, and veggie cream cheese on a Zaatar bagel. So delicious! Eager to check it out again and hope they make their way to Baltimore.

Yelp
Great chew and unique flavor combinations. It's worth the wait if you get a decent bagel.

Yelp
So nice to have a Call Your Mother close to home! I placed a take out order for breakfast on Saturday morning, and there's nothing I love more than a simple pick up process! I walked in and found my order on the shelf. I went to the counter, picked up my drink, and I was ready to go! Each sandwich was made perfectly, and even eating 30 minutes later the sandwiches still had a perfect cheese pull. The bagels are exceptional, the eggs are soft and delicious, and the bacon and honey make for a perfect touch. I also had the hot chocolate, which was absolutely amazing! The best breakfast in the area!

Yelp
When CYM opened a long time ago, I was singing the praises of the pastrami Sun City. Today, on a whim, I tried the Valencia del Sol. It is the best new breakfast sandwich I have had in a long time! Latke, spicy onions and cheddar on a cheddar bagel. Just enough heat to keep it interesting, but those luscious and savory melty onions are amazing. If you are like me and adore the holy trinity of potatoes, onions and cheddar, give this one a try!

Yelp
Great experience! Ordered for pickup and it was waiting for me when I got there. The only thing I will mention is that if you order delivery, you aren't able to customize your order at all which is why I had to go pickup. Still delicious and a DC staple!

Yelp
It was my first time visiting this location of Call Your Mother, and I appreciate how consistent it is across the locations. I got the Thunderbird (chicken sausage, egg, cheddar and American cheeses) on their gluten-free yuca bread. It was very filling and hearty, and I love the hint of honey on it. Their gluten-free yuca bread is also SO GOOD. I also got their special Cinnamon Bun latte, which was a perfect balance of cinnamon sweetness (but not too sweet). This is a perfect place to stop in before or after dropping into Politics and Prose next door for a new book :)

Yelp
I was so excited for this new location of Call Your Mother! Fantastic bagel sandwiches and other tasty treats like latkes and yuca cheesy bread. Extensive cafe menu from espresso drinks to flavorful iced teas. Don't skip the sweets -- especially the black & white cookies and the babka muffins. The swag just goes to show how much of a following CYM has by now. I appreciate their community engagement too! The weekends are naturally crowded but staff work quickly and the turnover is reasonable so we usually can get a table without too much waiting. The sidewalk seating with painted concrete tables is nice since the inside can get crowded. That said, the order ahead menu is the way to go, and is also great for larger pick-up orders for parties.

Yelp
I love this place! Their bagels are amazing - the brunch for 20 is perfect for any party!!!! It comes with 4 different kinds of bagels including everything, sesame, cheddar and Cinnamon Raisin! Then you get 7 different creme cheese flavors - including tuna salad, whitefish, garlic herb and roasted veggie, Finally all comes with veggie fixin's: Sliced Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Jalapenos, Capers -- ready to serve with Tongs - HIGHLY reccomend!!!!! :)

Yelp
Wow, what a wonderful place. Pardon the unappetizing photo, but mid bagel, i decided that I just had to take a picture and post a review, because it was SO SPECTACULAR. I live in NYC, and these bagels topped anything I've ever tried in the city. Also love their branding, and almost purchased a sweatshirt because I loved it so much. I certainly will call my mother to tell her about this joyous experience

Yelp
I'm in love with Call Your Mother! So happy there is a location closer to my neck of the woods. It's cute with the fun color scheme like the other venues! Super easy to preorder and pick up! They made my drink fresh when I picked up so it didn't get cold in the pick up area. So thoughtful! Service was great in this new bustling place!

Taniya R.

Yelp
The phone voicemail and Google says this location closes at 4pm. I walked 20minutes from campus, I arrived 10mins after 2pm and was turned away. You have to fix this or update your staff. What is the proper time?

Yelp
This is the kind of eatery where I don't want to brush my teeth after eating so I can still savor the flavors. Yum! I had the tuna melt on rye and my husband had the tuna melt on inside out, an everything bagel turned inside out. He had both because I couldn't eat all of mine and said he couldn't decide which one he liked better. Both were large, freshly made, served piping hot. Staff is friendly, prices good, restaurant clean with a nice vibe. We'll be back!

Yelp
Cute deli, near other shopping. The bagels are fresh. Sandwiches are typical for a bagel place. Decor was fun.

Yelp
Best breakfast sandwiches! Try the Thunderbird, on a yummy maple salt & pepper bagel.

Yelp
This is more a review of general Call Your Mother that I've noticed than just this location specifically, though I do frequent this location the most. Overall, Call Your Mother makes great/quality and creative bagel sandwiches. The pastrami sun city is top notch! My wife is obsessed with the bacon sun city. The bagels are very well covered in their everything bagel/sesame/etc topping so you know they know what they're doing when making a quality bagel. It's so disappointing getting a bagel from elsewhere and the poppyseed/everything/etc toppings are barely there and that's definitely not an issue here! I would definitely recommend Call Your Mother highly for a high quality bagel sandwiches! The shops also have a nice vibe and I've never had any issue with the service of their staff. My only problems with Call Your Mother in general are 1. not serving standard bagel types like poppyseed, garlic and/or onion. I'm not too into the specialty flavors and love the classics, but beyond everything, sesame and plain, they don't offer any other standards. 2. I love my bagels toasted and well browned and I've asked bagels to be double toasted in the past but they come back just warmed essentially. 3. Their online ordering system is too restrictive. It's annoying that if you ordered a specialty bagel sandwich, you can't select which type of bagel you want it on and can't specify getting well toasted or requesting mods to coffee drinks like light ice, all the syrup options for coffee drinks, etc. I think if Call Your Mother provided some more of the standard bagel flavors, properly extra toasted bagels upon request and added more flexibility to their online ordering system, this would easily be a 5-star rather than a 4-star.

Yelp
Wow! My everything bagel with cream cheese was delicious. It was so good that I was tempted to purchase a container of their cream cheese to take home. Friendly staff as well. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great experience overall. Highly recommend. Looking forward to returning soon!

Yelp
This place was such a vibe! We came by while waiting for my son and this place had something for three people with three very different taste buds! There was a line when we arrived but it moves quickly and was really because the employees were taking their time with everyone. There is a lot to see, so it was like fun sensory overload. My daughter and I split a bagel sandwich and I am glad we did because it was huge! I had a near perfect iced coffee that complimented the sandwich and the heat outside. My husband had a bagel with some butter and said it was very filling and the bagel was top quality, it was a maple bagel. We were able to find a little nook to do some reading while we ate and chilled! My only complaint and it was actually a blessing was there was no wifi. We were all ready to dig into computer based work but instead, we were able to read, talk and people watch. This was a great pit stop for us and we will come again when in the area because of the great food, service and parking...yes Parking in DC!

Yelp
First visit. The phones on the wall and rustic / pastel paint job are creative and cute without being tacky - nice vibe. Staff very friendly and helpful. We tried 2 of the bagel sandwiches: The Mountain View. Egg, latke and cheese - great combo I've never heard of before, highly recommended - there was so little avocado that it didn't register, but it wasn't needed. The Sun City with bacon, egg, cheese, honey on everything bagel - also a good combo if less original than the Mountain View. The music was loud and not great. Maybe the strategy is to get people to just take out and not sit down? The suggested tip starts at 15%....l know many places in DC are doing that but for takeout it's not ok with me. Prices + tips have gotten out of hand and we do eat out less often now because of it.

Yelp
Excited to welcome Call Your Mother to the neighborhood! I have seen them at a farmer's market in Chevy Chase where they always have many fans and I'm glad they found a storefront on the main street. They have great bagels, coffee, and the shop has a fun atmosphere and design. My advise to customers on weekends is to order online and pick up if you're not dining in - the line can get long, they are popular!
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
I checked out this brand new Connecticut Ave location of Call Your Mother in the former little red fox storefront. The signature bright pink and blue facade will bring a little cheer to your morning when walking down the street! Since it was a Sunday morning I decided to pre order on the online app- which made the experience seamless. This allowed me to grab my order off the shelf and avoid the line. You can't go wrong with any of the bagel sandwiches but I got the bacon sun city which includes eggs, thick bacon sand gooey cheddar. Will definitely be coming back soon!

Yelp
I love this place. The original brick and mortar location is still tops, but this is a more than reasonable analog. Airy and delightful interior; excellent bespoke and featured bagel sandwiches, very good coffee and friendly staff. Why not higher rating? Service, while friendly, can be excruciatingly deliberate. Twice they've comped me cookies and coffee because of a lost or painfully slow order. I really appreciate the honest recompense but would just like to get my simple un-toasted bagel with cream cheese in under 20 mins! Seems like online orders preempt in-store ones, imho. That said, I'll always vouch for the taste, if not their expediency. I know they're working hard back there.

reuben j.

Yelp
Maybe it's just me, but this place ( consciously or subconsciously) has the brand of polite ambivalence toward customers who happen to be black - one also experiences in other businesses on this block. I tried. But not coming back
google avatar

Yelp
Cute new location! I got a classic sausage and egg on plain and then the Grand Villa for lunch. The classic one was amazing. The Grand Villa had the stickiest peanut butter I've ever encountered, but was pretty good. The bagels are fresh and good, and the combos are just pretty ok.

Jim C.

Yelp
They've got wonderful bagels and heavenly egg sandwiches (on bagels of course). They also offer bags of peanuty granola and delicious toasted bagel chips (like an everything bagel crostini).... Oh, no! Just heard they've discontinued the bagel chips. Bad decision. 5 stars just became 4.
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place five stars! Their chai tea was so disappointing, but their food was superb. Not a lot of indoor seating and it gets pretty packed but it's so worth it for the food. The workers are really friendly and you never wait too long for your food. Definitely a must try if in the area.

Yelp
Omg! call your mother is the best bagel place in dc they are fresh out of the oven. The bagels are nice and hot. they are opening one in George Town

Emek K.

Yelp
Lovely and kind staff, amazing menu and a very fun ambiance. The zaatar bagel is something else entirely. Love love love.
google avatar

Brad K.

Yelp
Great food but the service at the front counter, when it is morning and people are running to work. It is entirely inconsiderate to your customers to chat with someone for more than 10min while the rest of your customers are in line trying to get coffee and go to work

Dion B.

Yelp
New place in an killer location with the same great taste!! I ordered the Sun City!
google avatar

Maria J.

Yelp
Food is always ready when i order for pickup. Just give your name at the counter and they will prepare your drinks pretty quickly.
google avatar

Katy B.

Yelp
The service was extremely nice and had a very pleasant atmosphere to the experience. I ordered the bacon sun city sandwich and for something so simple it was a absolutely delicious and I was very nicely surprised and enjoyed it a lot. Definitely recommend checking this place out :)
google avatar

Eaglewood R.

Yelp
This place literally makes the best bagel sandwiches I've ever had. My friends also love going there since the service is so good and area is great, and you can't go wrong with anything you order there really.

Nicole K.

Yelp
Went yesterday for the first time. My Royal Palm was ok - the bagel was too chewy and dry and the toppings (cucumber, tomato and onion) were just stacked on top of each other, not spread out. Based on that alone I would have given 3 stars. However, I bought 2 diet black cherry Dr. Brown's sodas and both expired November 10, 2021 - almost 1.5 years old. I normally don't check the dates but for canned sodas the one I opened was pretty flat and made me curious. Sorry that I didn't check before almost finishing, so gross.

Josue M.

Yelp
Was attended politely and had a really good experience, warren and gaby were very attentive to my wife and I due it being our first time at the store ! And the food was delicious and made fresh

B L.

Yelp
Amazing!! We were so excited to try out this new location and it didn't disappoint. Our kids are already asking to come back too!

Ellen B.

Yelp
Their claim to be a "Jew-ish deli" is even less true than someone else who used that adjective. They do not have mustard. They put mayo on pastrami. And way over-priced. Such a disappointment.

Be R.

Yelp
I went today. Barrista had a terrible attitude, seems discriminatory towards other races. Just due to her attitude and rudeness alone, I wont be going back. Also my sandwich was served reverse, the tuna was on the opposite side, the side with the "everything seeds on it" and the melt was made the wrong way up..the tuna slid all over since it was placed in the wrong position. I honeslty already had two bagels of 11.50 that didnt have what I asked for or made reverse..thats odd for a expensive lunch. Not going back and really recommend others beware of barristas attitude and the bad work in making the snadwhiches.
