Caló Kitchen + Tequila

I went for a dinner party and we were seated upstairs. It was so nice so much space and the waiters were absolutely amazing they made sure we had everything we need before we even had to ask for it but now let’s get to the good part. They have a bean dip and salsa with chips that they give you when I tell you it is so good I think like six of us order them to go the tacos were great the shrimp and enchiladas everything that we had as a group was amazing. Everybody was completely satisfied so if you’re in the mood for Mexican food this is a good spot. I believe on the weekend you might want to make a reservation if possible because from my understanding it gets really crowded on Fridays and Saturdays and I remember being told happy hour is quite popular as well.

When we entered the restaurant you will see a contemporary decor. The outdoor seating area is large with warmers for those colder days. The outdoor seating area is covered. This restaurant has a passion for fantastic food and service. The recipes were curated in 1962 which are holding true to great flavored Mexican cuisine. The menu selection has Mexican classics and favorites such as shrimp Taquitos (chef kiss💋). The shrimp Taquitos had my taste buds screaming for more! The chips were served warm with fresh salsa. The salsa has the right amount of spice. The baked beans were delicious as well. My cousin said her Chimichangas was delicious. My sister enjoyed the salmon asado. She said the salmon and rice were fantastic. We came for a birthday celebration and our server Samuel made this visit spectacular and very memorable. He danced us to our seats. My sister and I dance right along with him and gave a spin when we got ready to sit down. Samuel has an upbeat personality and very knowledgeable of the restaurant and menu as well the drinks 🍹. He came over and checked on our table periodically. Refreshed our drinks. When I say service with a smile….. Samuel has it! He is that perfect 10 in my book. Samuel added a “Thank you” to each of his receipts. I recommend you make reservations as this restaurant is extremely busy. There is plenty of parking paid and free parking.

While in the area, we were looking for a good spot to have lunch and luckily found this gem nearby. Thanks to the thousands of positive reviews, we decided to give it a try — and we’re so glad we did! This is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with outdoor seating that was just perfect for the beautiful weather. The service was top-notch — attentive, friendly, and efficient. We ordered Chicken Fajitas, Salmon Asado, and Carnitas, and every dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Our entire group thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the overall experience. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area — it truly lives up to the hype!

Very good Mexican food. Atmosphere is good. The waitress is very friendly with good service. Restaurant provides complimentary Tortilla chips with salsa and bean paste. Yummy.

A co worker and I came here twice in three nights when visiting the area, great service at either the bar or table. The Mexican fusion style they serve is amazing. My only regret is not asking if they sold shirts!

Date night location. Had reservations and was placed on 2nd floor. It's where you want to be, believe me. We got the shrimp taquitos app and it was delicious, flavor and you taste the shrimp, 8.6/10. I ordered the seafood trio, came with shrimp and lobster enchilada, don't take for granted, this was flavorful 8.9/10. A shrimp and lobster taco and let me tell you!!! 9.3/10. And last a shrimp and bacon chili rellen, good taste, there is a kick when you get to the seeds, 7.3/10. She had the shrimp enchiladas, 8.2/10. Presentation was on fire. Location clean and very nice. Staff was great. Would visit again.

I know that I would never be wrong when coming here. Everything is super good here. Starting with the crunchy and warm chips, the salsa, and the yummy refried beans! The ceviche appetizer is excellent. I've been trying some of the dishes here, but my favorite is the Ribeye tacos with cheese and mushrooms, served with Spanish rice and refried beans, the flavor is, a m a z I n g !!! And of course, I couldn't skip sharing my favorite drink, the famous Blackberry margarita 🍹. So sad this place does not offer Happy Hour!

Our waitress was super sweet and the food was amazing! Only disappointed that I put in a note that it was my boyfriend's birthday and it was not acknowledged. The booth request was acknowledged though. The birthday was reminded verbally at the end of the meal but I told was too late and if we come in another time we can get the birthday dessert. Not the waitress's fault I totally understand since it was a bit past close when we finished our meals and the kitchen was closed. I just wish the note could have been passed down to her to avoid that!

Food and drinks are delicious Service varies on days of the week. In weekends it's slow. Not to noisy, great place to socialize with friends.

Ufff... the bean dip is a must! I actually just come here for the bean dip and the drinks! Can't never go wrong with a margarita. An appetizer like the ceviche and fresh guacamole! If you come here on the weekend for dinner, expect a 1 hour wait line.

This place has great margaritas, I had the smoked pineapple and Chile margarita that was great. The alcohol was masked and it wasn't too sweet. I ordered the halibut tacos. They were tender and grilled well. No fishy taste and the sauce and red onions went well with the taco. I didn't care for the beans or rice as it was just ok. The staff was very attentive and helpful in deciding what to order. The vibe was cool, moderate music and upbeat.

The food here is so delicious and flavorful! Just make sure to add your name on the wait list, since it can be a bit of a wait especially during dinner time. The service is so friendly and fantastic, the ambiance is lovely as well. This is definitely the spot to go if you're looking for some good Mexican cuisine and the menu is very accommodating for all types of eaters! Below is everything I tried: 5/5 - Grilled Vegetarian Tacos: super flavorful and delicious, definitely the best thing I tried. 5/5 - Potato Taquitos: crunchy, and served with a really wonderful guacamole topping and side salsa. My go-to appetizer here. 4.5/5 - Shrimp and Crab Enchiladas: serve with a good amount of avocado, light but delicious. If you like seafood and enchiladas, this is definitely a dish for you. 3.5/5 - Beans, Chips, & Rice sides: The beans have a nice flavor, the chips aren't bad either, but the rice it pretty bland. 3/5 - Veggie Enchiladas: not that flavorful or unique, you're better off trying the Grilled Veggies Tacos or Cheese Chile Relleno. I was invited to a company party here as a guest and I was excited to go because I've heard good things about it. Who doesn't like tequila and tacos, right??!! Upstairs was closed...it was busy. It appeared as if there was enough people to have upstairs open but not enough servers to properly serve. I could be wrong...it was about a half an hour wait for eight people which not a big big deal we went to the bar had a drink, it was busy. The place is busy that means that people like it so I was excited to try it for the first time. Since upstairs was not open the best way to accommodate our larger party was outside and unfortunately, It had been raining in Los Angeles like crazy! Now on the ground was Astroturf. I don't know if you know the smell of Astroturf after it's been wet but it doesn't smell great. It smelled liked wet dog. I did my best to block it out as food was brought out. One way that I was really able to forget about the smell was the food. The food was good...I shared the seafood combo which came with a shrimp and bacon taco shrimp and lobster chile relleno. I am sure that if that didn't happen, I would have given them four stars. I am going to go back and update my review as necessary.

One of my favorite restaurants. I always order the same two items...without looking at the menu. BIG mistake. My bill arrived and I was charged $30 for a Mexico City Cosmo. This drink is usually $16. When I questioned our server Orestes, I was told the tequila was upgraded to Clase Azul. I did not ask for top shelf tequila and if that is the only way Calo is going to make this drink, I will not be ordering it and or may need to find a new restaurant in place of Calo. The outdoor "Covid" patio is still in place. They have added turf, several heat lamps. Server was nice. Enchiladas were excellent (enough to share), corn was OK, love the bean dip and shrimp taquitos (the 2nd item I always order).

The food was great everything was delicious I got the rib eye steak tacos the meat was tender and seasoned very well my server was very helpful when I couldn't decide I will definitely come back

We were traveling and found this cute place in El Sagundo. I'm not from LA so I'm not familiar with anywhere. It's in a nice area and easy to get to . Parking is tight but there is a larger lot next door. I didn't know that until I found parking. The service was pretty good and attentive. The staff were really nice and helpful to choices on the menu. The food was excellent and my grandson polished off his quesadillas. I was amazed for he is a picky eater. I will be back .

Yikes! We were so hungry and devoured everything before we could take pics! Highly recommend the chicken fajitas which comes with a choice of flour or daily made corn tortillas. Chicken tostado is good, not great, but satisfies. Carnitas are yum. Service is beyond excellent and kudos to the entire staff for making our dining experience a very good and memorable one! Will def be back for more!

Let's talk about the food - it's perfection! I've had many dishes here, but my favorites are the fajitas and shrimp enchiladas. Everything is spot on and delicious. As a Mexican myself, I can say the food brings me back home. The service is excellent; everyone is friendly and kind. Our host, Sophia, was nice and funny. My server, Samuel, was exceptionally nice! His recommendations were perfect. We also got to meet the manager, who was lovely and took the time to introduce herself and discuss the company. My experience was truly beautiful.

I love their veggie tacos. I'm not vegetarian or anything but my goodness their veggie tacos are the best veggie tacos I've had hands down. I prefer the veggie tacos over the chicken to be honest. Their salsa is really addicting, the beans and rice are yummy and the portions are great. I've been here a few times love the vibe and i highly recommend making reservations especially when coming in the evening. All in all a great spot and I would recommend them!!!

Just as good as the South Orange County location! My friends and I came here after an automotive event that we attended. We got here a few minutes after opening time and chose to sit at the bar. Complimentary chips, salsa, and beans were given to us. After seating, we were helped by the friendly bartender (whose name I didn't get). I went ahead and ordered the Seafood Trio and Blackberry Margarita (it was 5 o' clock somewhere!). My drink was made in a timely manner, and shortly after the food followed. How was it all? - Seafood Trio: The plate came out looking good! It consisted of a Shrimp & Lobster Enchilada, Shrimp & Lobster Chile Rellano, and Shrimp & Bacon Taco. It came with a side of rice and beans as well. All 3 items were warm and delicious. I'm a little late writing this review so it's been a while, but I do remember they were all good. - Blackberry Margarita: Simple and delicious. A few blackberries in the drink. When asked for a sugar or salt rim I opted for sugar. I probably should have chosen salt haha. It was good nonetheless! Service was good, everyone that helped us did so with a smile. There was plenty of seating outside and inside. The bar sits 8 people IIRC. Parking wasn't bad, there was quite a few spots available. The neighboring coffee and donut place seemed to be getting quite a crowd. Enjoy!

Had to go to LAX for the Global Entry interview and we're looking for a good Mexican place nearby. Thanks to yelp we going Caló Kitchen and were able to hop on the waitlist when we were within 10 miles of the location. We were immediately seated at a nice corner booth table. Perfect for me, husband and toddler. We brought our own toddler chair and it sat perfectly on the booth seating. Our server was Angela, she's very helpful and presentable. My husband order a Modelo and Short Rib Enchiladas. I got the Cilantro Jalapeño mocktail and Halibut Tacos, plate comes with 3 tacos. For our little guy we ordered the Kids Quesadillas, added chicken. While waiting for our food we were started off with their chips & salsa and bean dip. The bean dip was so tasty, refried beans with bacon/pork rinds (can't remember). Our food came out pretty quickly and everything was great. Min only giving it 4 stars because my mocktail was super sour and they don't offer to-go cups. Other than that, all the staff were very friendly and Angela is amazing. She also made sure to ask if anyone had any dietary restrictions.

I had the pleasure of visiting Caló this past summer (June 2024) while I was in California for work, and it was fantastic! I made reservations about 2 days in advance. Parking was fine--there's a garage less than 30 seconds away, or you can park right in front of the restaurant. The restaurant had two floors, and we were seated on the 2nd floor, which had such a cool, slightly private, and trendy type vibe. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, as well as the tortilla and chips. You can tell the chef puts care into the food that is put out to the people. The queso fundido was delicious! I appreciated that the server kindly separated the meat toppings since I wasn't eating meat at the time, which allowed me to truly savor the queso on its own. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, from the food to the service. A solid 5 stars!

I have brought clients here on three occasions because I love it so much, the black beans they bring out with the chips are delicious and their cocktails and food are also great. I find any excuse to go.

Calo is a great spot for Mexican food. I would recommend getting a reservation since it can get quite busy during lunch/dinner. I love the patio area and how it has stayed permanent post-COVID. The servers are friendly and there is a convenient parking lot in front. If the lot does get full, you can just park in the structure for free. My go-to is the shrimp and crab enchiladas - you won't be disappointed. There's a healthy amount of seafood in the dish and the salsa pairs perfectly. Not to mention, the guacamole and chips are a must order. I could munch on the chips all day!

In town for a cruise going out tomorrow. My wife and I decided to check out Caló. So glad we did. They have seating inside and on the patio with a cover and heat lamps. Plenty of seating outside. Service was excellent, waiter was very knowledgeable. He suggested 5 of his favorites. 2 of which we ordered. Short Rib enchiladas and Seafood Trio. Both dishes were amazing. I ordered refried beans and red rice instead of white rice. I was hoping the refried beans was going to be the bean dip that came with the chips that was amazing. Instead we regular refried beans and red rice and it was just average. The entree was the star. Wish they had one up where we live. We also tried the blackberry margarita & La Sardina, both had great flavor and tequila you could taste. Next time in town this is a must stop.

From start to finish this place was amazing. We put our name in the wait list line via yelp. We waited for 10 mins at the restaurant and then were seated at a small booth inside. Our waitress Kelly was super on it with drink recs and chip, salsa, and out of this world BEAN DIP refills. The chips were so fresh and good I could have had this combo as my meal. But we opted to share the 3 item combo plate. Our items: carnitas filled chili relleno, beef taco, green sauce chicken enchilada. All 3 items were full of flavor. I always judge Mexican food off of how I feel after, and I still had a lot of energy and felt great. The food seems really fresh here! Our drinks: a modelo for hubby and a margarita for me. We were happy and will be back when in the area!

Everything here was spectacular! From the service to the food. We came in on a Saturday so used the waitlist feature. The wait was nearly 90 minutes but why the time we got there the table was ready as soon as we walked up. The chips, salsa, and bean dip was immaculate. Every ingredient was so fresh. Our drinks were perfection - even the mocktail! And the food was very flavorful. We couldn't have asked for better. Icing on the cake - Our waiter, Samuel, was one of the best! It's been years since we had a server that kind and memorable.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in El Segundo is Cali Kitchen The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! Servers are amazing and always efficient, happy and polite. It's a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing cocktails, food and service. Staff make great recommendations. For dinner. Wonderful food for the family.

This place has it all - Great food. Great drinks. Great atmosphere. And Outstanding service (Thank you to Samuel, Sophia, and the bar staff). Also, you have to get a margarita. Get the Calo for a classic, or if you're feeling fruity, go for the strawberry or blackberry!

This is the second time we have been to Calo. First time was amazing as well. Our waitress was absolutely incredible. She was kind, attentive and the sweetest person ever. Service was fast. Chips and salsa came out within 5 minutes of being sat down. The cocktails were delicious as well. The hubby ordered crab and shrimp enchiladas 9/10. I ordered the seafood trio - lobster/shrimp enchilada 8/10, shrimp chile relleno 9/10 and the shrimp + bacon taco 7/10. The only star I took away was because I wanted to sit inside (we were sat outside on the patio) and the food overall being less than 10. I wouldn't have minded too much if it were a regular date day but I was celebrating my 40th birthday with my hubby and wanted a bit more ambiance than faux grass and a fire pit.

Great modern cali-mex. Chips, salsa, and guacamole are a must to start your meal. I'm a spicy marg fan, and theirs was very well balanced and super refreshing. Went with fajitas and was super pleased as the tortillas were very fresh and everything very tasty. Of all the cali-mex in the area, this place is definitely near the top.

Took a drive to El Segundo to meet up with my LB beauties for lunch. We had a reservation since this location gets very busy. We were given chips with salsa & bean dip once we sat down and ordered. We ordered: 2 - Chipotle Chicken Taco plates 5/5 (3 tacos with rice & black beans). An order of guacamole 4/5. We couldn't finish our food so we took it home:) Service was very good. This location has 2 floors with the bar on the first level. *Plenty of free parking in the lot. *Covered Outdoor seating

Had a great lunch here with friends. Inside is modern and stylish. We sat on the big front patio. I like that it's covered but it can still get pretty warm. I think I would have preferred to sit inside in the AC lol. The food is delicious! Loved the bean dip and chips. I got the combo with beef taco, beef enchilada, and carnitas chile relleno with a side of Mexican corn. So good! And pretty filling even for a low-key fatty like me lol. My friends got a mix of dishes and loved all of it. The cocktails were delicious, especially on a warm day. Can recommend the tequila honey bee and strawberry margarita. Service was fantastic. Shout out to our awesome server Nathaniel. So friendly and attentive. Easy parking in the shopping center lot.

Seen this restaurant as we frequent the donut shop next door so when extended family said let's go we were excited to check it out. Had reservations and we were early but still had to wait 20 minutes to sit even though there were empty tables. They have two floors and an outside dining area with heating lamps which is where we were seated. The grass mats under the outside tables was a nice touch so you're not sitting on asphalt and feel like you're eating in a parking lot. Sat down and the servers were friendly. Menu was varied. I'm used to ordering something and then choosing the type of meat that I want but their items were very specific to the protein that was being served...oh well. Water and chips and salsa and beans were brought out within a reasonable amount of time but our drinks took like 20 minutes. I was DD so I didn't drink but ordered a diet coke. Their menus do not specify but I was brought out an 8 oz bottle??? Pretty much every place has free refills and if they don't it's specified on the menu. Someone else ordered a sprite and out came a 12 oz bottle??? Why the difference??? Chips and salsa and beans were decent but heavy salt. Appetizers were just okay. Food was brought out after a loooonnnggg time...which was okay since we were all just catching up and talking so didn't really mind. Portions were decently sized but for the elevated prices....the food was meh. Inflation must have hit this place pretty hard because one look at the prices on the menu and you'll understand.

Stumbled across this restaurant on yelp. Joined the waitlist on yelp and was seated within 20 minutes. Service here was amazing! We got our drinks and appetizers out very quickly. We purchased the bottomless mimosas and waiters came around filling your glass with champagne! We sat outside and it was such vibe! The decor inside is nicer but I recommend sitting outside if you like a vibe they played music definitely a fun Sunday brunch! Their food is delicious we tried the nachos , huevos rancheros and the machaca plate. I will definitely be back again! Thank you for such a great service.

The service is amazing. The food is good but not amazing. The tortillas are NOT made in house. There is a little bit to much in each taco so the flavors become muddled. Overall and enjoyable time but not worth the price.

Yummy cocktails + good food. They have a huge variety of drinks here. Love their shrimp taquitos and ceviche with extra hot sauce! Nice spot for a date night or catch up with friends.

Very nice experience. Had an issue placing online order from their website but was able to fix it without any issues. We ordered the Chilean sea bass, so yum; chimichanga that was a huge portion and a delicious appetizer. Food was great quality and worth the money for a birthday lunch. For a Thursday afternoon, they were busy, but all staff seemed very attentive and friendly. Restaurant looked fun to dine in and relaxing.

5 stars for great service and great food. Went to calo on a Wednesday night and it was packed so you know it must be good. Our server was very kind and attentive and our food came out quickly. I got the crab and shrimp enchiladas which were super tasty and came with rice and beans. I also got the strawberry jalapeño marg which I would have liked it to be spicier but it was still good. For dessert I got the flan which was amazing. I've been here a dozen times before and will continue coming back.

Thank you to Samuel for his lovely presence. Made us feel like we were at home having a wonderful lunch together! The food did not disappoint along with the drinks at all. Recommend all to come by and try it out, and ask for Samuel to be your server!

Decent spot for Mexican food - I couldn't get enough of their chips and salsa! Had the enchiladas and hard taco plate with beans and rice, nice variety of dishes to appease different palates. Ordered a mocktail version of one of their cocktails, was a bit too tart for my liking but overall solid spot and nice ambiance.

Food was very delicious and blackberry margarita was fantastic as well. I had the seafood three ways. Some of the flavors were a bit overpowering for the seafood, but all in all very good. The poblano pepper stuffed with seafood had too many flavor combinations. But once again, it was still very tasty. Perhaps they need to simplify a little. Also ordered a Diet Coke and it was barely even one glass full with that tiny bottle they give you.

This place has such a beautiful interior & is definitely picture worthy. I came here under no reservation on a weekday. The service was fast & attentive I enjoy places even more when they have vegan and vegetarian options!! Now for the food: Grilled Vegetarian Tacos 8/10: great tasting veggie tacos!! Was still very filling & the veggies were grilled nicely. The seasoning wasn't too salty! Overall, I would visit this location again & try more of their menu options!

Amazing, authentic, organic ingredients make a difference. I loved the Mexican food here better than if I was in Mexico. Every dish we ordered was amazing. Highly recommend the Queso fundido, quesadillas, must add a side of guacamole. I do not remember what I had to drink because I was so in love with the food. The service provided by our server Lisbeth was outstanding. If you go to this restaurant, ask for Lisbeth. The ambiance was great, it was turning to evening and the weather was unseasonably cold for this time of year in LA. Despite being seated outside, it was not an issue. The restaurant had heaters that made the atmosphere feel warm, and cozy. Whenever I visit LA., I will always dine here. Mexican food is my favorite.

Had a fantastic time at Caló Kitchen! We went on maybe one of the busiest days but thank God for the waitlist. We only had to wait at the restaurant for about 10 minutes and our name was called. I prefer knowing ahead of time if the wait is long so that you don't have to rush to the restaurant to sit there and wait! ANYWAY, the service was on point from the minute we were seated. I'm so sad I didn't take our server's name but she was excellent. She gave us just the right amount of attention, suggestions and was so pleasant! I like how it was not too loud in the restaurant that I wasn't able to hear my friend speak, and there was a Mariachi band going around! So it was a lively and enjoyable environment. We were seated on the first floor. NOW the food was delicious. Starting with the refried black bean dip and chips to our beverages and entrees! I especially enjoyed the short rib enchiladas! WHEW! That's a winner! My friend ordered the combination plate. We also had a couple blackberry margaritas. Overall Calo is my go to when I have folks visiting out of town because they consistently meet my expectations and provide a good experience! Needless to say, I hope to be back soon!

Upscale Mexican place on that Rosecrans strip just west of the 405 and Sepulveda/PCH. It's more expensive than casual Mexican places, yet it has more creative margaritas and tequila creations. The spicy margarita and tequila honeybee were very good. The Seafood trio consisting of a seafood enchilada, taco and chile relleno was good, yet I'd prefer if it was more flavorful and spicy. The free chips and salsa and black bean dip is delicious! The service was great and attentive. The server refilled our chips and salsa many times. This is a busy place and good for special occasions. It's pricier than your average casual family Mexican place. Reservations recommended.

Hey, Flavor Budz, check in! Per usual, Calo hasn't missed! I was here celebrating my mother's birthday, and it was her first time dining here. We didn't have to wait long, and surprisingly, we were afforded the opportunity to dine inside. Our server, Kieran, provided exceptional customer service throughout our dining experience. He proactively offered recommendations from the menu and consistently checked in on our table to ensure our satisfaction. Kieran engaged in friendly conversation, contributing to a positive and memorable experience for my mother. During our brunch, my mother complimented the establishment on several occasions regarding the exceptional quality and presentation of the food. She thoroughly enjoyed her experience. I would like to express my gratitude to the entire team for their unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. The ambiance of the establishment consistently exceeds expectations, contributing to an enjoyable dining experience.

Service: wow, so attentive and nice consistently every time we've been here :) Food: everything is so tasty, fresh and quality is consistent. I usually get the short rib enchiladas but this time got the halibut tacos and it was good but not my favorite on their menu. My husband always orders a trio but likes to mix up the options. Getting the corn cut off the cob was a really nice touch and more accessible to those who might have difficulty otherwise eating it. Accessibility: bathrooms are located upstairs but there's an elevator. Both indoor/outdoor seating depending on your needs. Noise level can get louder outside in my opinion if there are groups (more limited seating inside), waiting area only has stools (may be difficult to use with height differences).

Calo was a great time! I love Mexican food and I really liked their take with modern, reimagined flavors. For example, their beans are infused with pork so it tastes SO good. I couldn't get enough. I had the shrimp and crab enchilada. Mmm perfection. The sauce, filling, and casing for the enchilada were perfect. My family and friends enjoyed their meals as well. I'd definitely come back.
