The Best Boba Tea Shops in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"A pair of friends and SoCal locals opened this shop back in 2017 to bring craft tea options to San Diego. The menu is focused around drinks that use loose-leaf tea, eschewing powdered creamers and artificial fruit syrups for real milk and homemade flavorings. Try the classic Hong Kong milk tea or Scottish Caramel milk tea." - Candice Woo

I’ve been coming to Camellia Rd 1-2x per week for the last 6+ years. They have the best teas and best boba that I have ever had. When they were closed during COVID, this was truly the #1 thing I was looking forward to opening again. Beyond that, the shop is an amazing place to meet people. My best friend and I used to meet every Wednesday to relax, grab a boba, and chat. The staff is AMAZING. So kind and welcoming. You can tell that the owners and whoever is involved in making the monthly specials are really passionate. I could not recommend Camellia Rd more highly.

I absolutely love this tea spot. The atmosphere here is full of life and inviting and the customers service here is amazing. Now let’s talk about the matcha — WOWWW!! It’s seriously amazing! Rich, smooth, perfectly balanced… you can tell they use high-quality matcha and take real care in preparing it. It’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had, and I find myself craving it constantly. One of the coolest things about this place is that they switch out their tea flavors every month, which keeps things exciting and fresh. It’s always a treat to come in and see what new seasonal or creative blends they’ve come up with. I love that they’re always experimenting and keeping their menu dynamic. If you’re a tea lover (or even just tea-curious), do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won’t regret it! ☺️🧋💖🍵

Google
Top San Diego boba spot. Came here in 2021 and again in 2025, and it’s still just as good as I remember. 😋🌟 — Their menu is simple and straightforward, and their prices are reasonable (less than $6 per drink before toppings/milk subs as of Apr 2025) — REAL INGREDIENTS: high quality loose-leaf tea, real sweeteners like organic cane sugar and honey, real milk, and no artificial powders or artificial syrups — I really liked my Puer Milk Tea, which isn’t common to find at a boba shop — Seems like a good place to work/study as multiple college students were there with their laptops — They have board games! The roads will lead me back to @camellia_rd on every SD trip…🧋🔁🚗💨

Stopped by here back in April'24. We stopped by after lunch looking to try some San Diego boba. 3 of us ordered different drinks and no one really seemed to enjoy it. I ended up tossing mine after a few sips... Parking is difficult in the area. Ambiance inside is nice, but the drinks were a miss for all of us.

Google
My favorite local boba shop, the tea is the freshest and highest quality I’ve found in the city. I never feel my drinks are overly sugary, even when I order them at default sweetness. I love being able to taste the quality teas, and I always eagerly await news of the monthly specials, which are consistently creative and delicious🍃

My husband and I have been coming here for years! At this point we are regulars lol.It is our favorite spot to get boba. The quality of their teas are top notch! You can really taste the flavor of each tea. Not to mention they have different milk alternatives and toppings. I love that they offer new monthly drinks (like their tea frescas) , it's exciting to see what they will create! Also the staff is so amazing and so friendly!!! I highly recommend you stop by and try their teas you will not be disappointed!!!

Google
Camellia Road is thee ONE that I go to for a boba drink. They craft their drinks with tea ☕️ and the honey boba is consistently good. I appreciate their minimal ingredients and being able to taste the tea. They are not a chain/franchise with 30 items on the menu. All this, and the taste quality is what I keep coming back for….

Google
Our neighbor said this is his favorite tea house because of the monthly specials. I wouldn’t say it’s our favorite. The menu is basic and customizable. You pick your choice of tea from a list of 11, sweetness level, milk choice, and toppings. We got the October specials. Strawberry Hojicha was more thick and fruity while the hojicha puer had sticky rice purr tea with creamy oat milk, infused with jasmine rice and tea. Tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch! Their tea is strong and kept me up. They also sell their loose tea leaf. Very high quality. If we’re in the area, I would check out what’s on rotation for their monthly specials. Parking in this plaza is not great as it shares the same lot as Daiso and many bars and eateries.

Yelp
Camellia Rd is by far one of the best boba shops in San Diego, in my opinion. Unlike your typical boba shops that specialize in sweet concoctions, Camellia Rd emphasizes the tea itself in their drinks. The workers here are really nice and efficient when it comes to taking your order and knowing the menu. You are able to sample any of the seasonal tea frescas! Every month there are 3-4 seasonal drinks you can try, each with their own unique flavor! This time, I got the blueberry herbal tea Fresca and it was very good. The blueberry flavor was definitely the star with undertones of herbal flavors bring up the rear of the sip. It was a nice refreshing drink and I'm excited to see what other monthly flavors will be in store for the rest of the year. My normal go to order is either a chrysanthemum tea with almond milk or a hojicha tea with almond milk. Depending on what flavor you are craving, the descriptions of each tea that they have on their menu accurately corresponds with the flavor of the tea. Also, their boba is by far one of my favorites. It is perfectly chewy and flavored! Camelia Rd is also a great place to either socialize or study with others. They provide all sorts of games that customers can use and even wifi! The wifi helps with all the studying that goes on by people here. The establishment is perfectly decorated and well used by customers for all sorts of reasons. If you are looking for a tea-forward boba spot, Camellia Rd is the place to go.

Yelp
Really enjoyed their thai tea boba! Flavor was perfectly sweet and boba had a great texture. The outside of Camellia was very unassuming but the inside was very clean and bright. It's fairly small inside but still a handful of tables to choose from. There were plenty of people studying while I was there which is always a good sign to me! I ordered ahead online which was easy and my order was ready quickly. FYI that they use a cup lid vs a sealed top like most boba places, so may be trickier if you have a big order like I did. Not a problem, just a heads up if you're ordering for multiple people :) Overall a nice spot. There are so many great boba spots in the Convoy area and I'd rank Camellia solidly in the middle.

Yelp
One of my fav boba spots in SD - Camellia takes pride in procuring the best quality tea leaves and all their drinks are tea-forward rather than like dessert drinks overloaded with sugar and flavor powders. Also, everything they make is in-house. My fav is Chrysanthemum tea with Chrysanthemum jelly and I also get all my drinks with no sugar. Matcha definitely feels premium and their Earl Grey Milk tea is so floral. BTW, I always look forward to their monthly specials !!
google avatar

Yelp
I made a trip to five different boba shops on Convoy to rank their "boba milk tea". I tried to get the closest to black tea if they had more than one option. I chose 100% sweetness and no ice (to eliminate dilution). Here are my ratings: 1 Camellia: boba milk tea, regular milk 2 Chakaa: ruby milk tea w brown sugar boba, regular milk 3 Tan-Cha: celon milk tea w caramel boba, non-dairy milk 4 Yun Tea House: Monkey King w boba, lactose-free house milk 5 Dayung: boba milk tea, non-dairy creamer Caveats: I think Dayung made a mistake on the order because it had some ice in the drink when I picked it up. When I tasted it at home, it tasted watered down and completely bland, like there was no sugar. So I think instead of 100% sugar and 0% ice, they gave me 0% sugar and 100% ice. I also heard Dayung is better known for their fruit teas anyway. In terms of the actual boba balls, Camellia had the best chewiness and best taste. Overall it was the best drink. Chakaa came very close!

Yelp
I always hear about this place so I figured it was gonna be a safe choice to grab a drink. Oh man I was wrong! The menu is very small, which is fine since I figured that must mean they focus on quality. They also had 4 seasonal drink options but I actually didn't like the flavor combinations in any of them so I picked a hojicha milk tea with the tofu pudding from the standard menu. I wanted to try at least something off the seasonal menu so we chose the Thai tea, although the combo with orange juice was interesting. I've had Thai lemon teas before so I thought maybe it wouldn't be too far off. Unfortunately it just did not work for me. It tasted like watery orange juice, without any creaminess or tea flavor from the Thai tea part at all. I figured they couldn't mess up the hojicha since it's a basic drink but I couldn't even have more than a few sips. It did not have the familiar roasted flavor of hojicha whatsoever. The tofu pudding had a prominently ginger flavor which was noted in the menu but typically tofu pudding is on the plainer side so I didn't think the ginger would be that strong. The place was crowded inside so perhaps I'm missing something and must have just chosen the wrong drinks! I am always open to giving places another shot and love to update my reviews if possible but since I was just visiting on vacation I don't think I'll return.

Yelp
When I say Camellia carried me through college, I really mean it. Great tea quality, nice place to study, and solid drinks! Love how they have rotating frescas each month and board games to use inside. My favorite boba place in San Diego hands down!! I will always recommend Camellia!
google avatar

Yelp
Camellia Rd Tea Bar is my go to spot for boba in San Diego. I enjoy their modern flavors combined with amazing quality tea. My favorite thing about Camellia Rd Tea Bar is their rotating Tea Fresca flavors. This is a spin off Aqua Fresca by mixing fruit juices with tea and the outcome is phenomenal. Additionally they rotate flavors every month making me excited to come back and try something new. Their base teas are made of great quality so they are always an excellent option to go with. Mixing this with various in-season fruits only makes the experience even better! The tapioca pearls they serve are very solid. Good texture and taste. The spot itself feels very much like a standard boba shop. There is in-door seating with bigger tables for groups. There is outdoor seating perfect for enjoying the San Diego weather. The inside has some board games for you to play while you hangout and sip drinks. Service is friendly and helpful. They are able to provide you with recommendations and you can even sample some tea frescas. Pro Tip: if you really like the tea they even sell tea in quarts that they sell by reservation on their instagram.

Yelp
Camellia Rd may be an unassuming tea bar located in a plaza full of restaurants, but the ambiance is phenomenal - it is quiet, calm and a perfect little gem if you need to do some work, study or is looking for a cute place to finish your book. I ordered a hot Gemaicha milktea while my friend got their cold Hojicha milktea, both are really good and you can smell and taste the tea well. Will come back very soon!

Yelp
I've never seen a boba shop do chrysanthemum milk tea!! This was so so good!!! The tea was fragrant and really good as a milk tea. Ordered with 50% sweetness and less ice. Service was super fast and the teas tasted freshly brewed. Thought the boba was a little hard and it was a little watery, thought it would've been creamier as a milk tea. Overall though it was delicious and I would definitely go back!

Yelp
There was a lot for this spot to live up to. We'd heard from multiple people that this is THE SPOT to get boba from when you're in SD. We got dinner at Menya Ultra in the same plaza and decided to head over. Plenty of parking in this lot! I like the selection of board games while you're hanging out in the shop. My boyfriend got the Hong Kong milk tea with boba and I got the Scottish caramel milk tea with chrysanthemum jelly. I'd never heard of Scottish caramel, so figured I'd try it! When was I going to get another chance? Also, I'm a sucker for chrysanthemum and had never seen it offered in jelly form. Sold! I thought my tea was a bit bitter, that's on me. I shouldn't have ordered 0%, just thought it'd be sweet enough from the caramel. We weren't able to adjust the sweetness on the HK milk tea. Chrysanthemum jelly was tasty! Would definitely return and try their other drinks next time we're in the area though!

Yelp
Camellia Rd Tea Bar is known for their drinks made with premium teas. After trying their drinks, this statement proved itself to be 100% true. The shop is usually busy and service is quick. I asked the cashier a few questions before ordering and he was patient with me and knowledgeable about their drinks. The tea base is definitely on the more premium side. The tea flavor within their drinks are pretty strong and slightly bitter. If that's something you know you enjoy, I would definitely recommend Camellia for you. I loved the jasmine green tea with boba. I personally love the taste of jasmine tea, so the drink was a must-try and it did not disappoint. Camellia Rd is on the smaller side when it comes to cafes. If you're looking to come here to study, it is rare for many seats to be open. I would say that this spot is better as a grab and go experience. Parking: Ample parking in the plaza.

Yelp
My family really love visiting this boba place. They specialize in fresh tea and they usually have some seasonal items that are delicious. Kids love their honey boba and they just so fresh and chewy. Servers are friendly and service is pretty quick. Inside I feel like I see younger crowd hanging out and seems pretty chill. Will be back for the delicious fresh drinks.

Yelp
My friends and I drink a LOT of milk tea - we always go back to Camellia Rd. The quality of the tea and boba is unrivaled - both in San Diego and the Bay (where Iive now). I'll always try their seasonal flavor, and my go-to order is usually the camellia blend or matcha milk tea. Staff are always so nice, and the shop is really fun to sit in with the quirky decor and artwork. Nice to have outdoor tables, too. Always look forward to my next SD trip so I can carve out time to make a pit stop (or two or three) at Camellia.

Yelp
Camellia Road is consistently amazing quality every single time I've been. It's rare to find a location that does everything well, but here they use high quality, fragrant teas, use only fresh milk (not powders!), and perfectly chewy boba. I love all of their teas, but my personal favorites are their hojicha and oolong if you're struggling to choose. They also have some seasonal drinks typically that you can sample as well and during the summer, they've got some tea lemonades that are super refreshing as well. The line typically doesn't get too too long from what I've seen and they also sell a bit of merch. The parking lot is decently large as they share it with a couple other restaurants and a Daiso. The store itself isn't too big with 6 tables inside and a couple extra outside, but covered.

Yelp
I was sitting in my car and looked up and saw Camellia Rd and did why not!? I'm so glad I decided to go in. From the moment you walk in the place feels so friendly! You get greeted and asked if you have any questions. I went already knowing I wanted a matcha! I have never had matcha with Boba but let me tell you... you have to try it! I requested my tea half sweet with oat milk and it was perfect! The place itself is bright and clean! Enough space for everyone to sit and enjoy their drink. I will for sure be going back!

Yelp
I've been looking around for a good place to buy loose leaf tea.  I noticed Camelia Rd was nearby.  I stopped by and bought 100 grams of Floral Tie Guan Yin which is an oolong tea for $20.  It had a fresh and light floral flavor I loved.  There weren't too many options at the tea shop but I noticed more options on the website.  I filled out the form on the website asking if I order some tea and pick it up instore.  After a month and no response I wrote this review. The experience at the store was great.  The cashier was nice and answered all my questions.  The experience on the website was terrible as my question was never responded to.  I would never order anything on the website as if there is a problem you are unlikely to get a reply.

Yelp
I've grown fond to Camellia Rd Tear Bar and after a couple of tries I would be back! This place was quite popular for several years now, and I've noticed it has kept up with the consistency and the crowds. A long line was present as we entered on a Sunday and a vendor was also promoting her products. The menu is only at the register along with some paper ones in the front so I would suggest looking before getting in line or while you're in it. My favorites are their Hojicha Milk Tea and their seasonal Strawberry Matcha Latte. You can't adjust the sweetness on the special drinks and tea frescas, but that's perfectly fine because it's not overly sweet and the measurements are just right! Needing the Strawberry Matcha on the current menu, but I am definitely a fan of their teas here and you won't find any creamer powders or artificial flavors in their drinks!
google avatar

Rochelle N.

Yelp
Love how they let you try samples of their tea from the seasonal section of the menu! The blueberry fresca with boba was addicting! The boba was nice and fresh. All the drinks came out very quickly which I was impressed by. The place itself has a bit of searing for those trying to work. On a Sunday afternoon it was filled. It has a nice modern vibe for those trying to work.
google avatar

Lotus S.

Yelp
I've been coming here since 2016 and love coming here as they make their milk teas not too sweet like other places. My fave is genmaicha and I think this is the only place I've found in SD so far that has it. Card only. They are very accommodating and fast. Cute shop with games to play and very quiet for studying!
google avatar

Donna C.

Yelp
Whenever we make the drive to SD, we have to stop by Camellia on the way back. I love chrysanthemum and this tea shop has amazing chrysanthemum jelly and tea. It only has a hint of sweetness and you can taste a lot more of the chrysanthemum flavor. Typically, I choose to drink matcha/green tea or non caffeinated drinks in the afternoon since I'm very sensitive to caffeine. This place is a great pick-me-up and the drinks are so refreshing! You get to pick the tea, sweetness level, type of milk and toppings. You can also pick amongst their signature drinks if you choose not to create your own :) Drinks ordered: chrysanthemum milk tea with chrysanthemum jelly, hojicha milk tea (love the roasted flavor) The shop is clean, minimal and has both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is patient, friendly and the drinks come out pretty quickly.
google avatar

Tina D.

Yelp
I think Camellia Road is one of my top favorite boba spots in SD! Drinks: The quality of their tea is just amazing. The tea flavor is so robust and their boba is the perfect chewiness. I love that they have monthly drinks as well. I recently got the strawberry matcha and it was so good. It was around $7 for a drink but for that quality, I'm happy to pay. Interior: I studied here for about 4 hours. There's about 2 bigger tables and 3 smaller ones, which were all occupied the entire time I was there. I was lucky enough to find a table for myself. They also have wifi and outlets everywhere! Service is always quick as well. I don't think I've ever had to wait more than 5 minutes tbh! if ur looking for a boba spot in sd, I'd highly recommend!
google avatar

Claire L.

Yelp
You walk in and it smells like REAL TEA. I love the tea selection here like the Hojicha and Scottish Caramel. The drinks taste so real and not artificial like many tea shops. The boba is perfectly chewy too. Drinks come out fast and the service is friendly. The shop is always poppin; I can rarely find seating especially on a weekend even though there are a good number of tables inside and outside the shop. There are a number of games inside the shop so you can stick around and play a game with some friends.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here to do some work and ordered their earl grey milk tea. Not my favorite but it was ok. I would come back and try their other teas though. Good ambiance to study/work!
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
My favorite boba place in SD, and in my list of all-time favs (coming from someone who used to work at one). If you're looking for a boba shop that puts the TEA in milk tea this is it. I have tried most of their menu but usually default to hojicha. Trust.
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
We visited this location after dinner at Menya Ultra in the same plaza. The menu is small and very simple which I can really appreciate because you're not overwhelmed by too many options. They use real teas and fruit, our drinks were mild and not overly sweet. The Scottish caramel tea bag was so delicious and you feel like you can have top notch boba milk teas at home. The service was very quick and the interior was comfortable and tastefully decorated.
google avatar

Dorian C.

Yelp
Camellia does it again with their rotating drinks! I would always drive out of my way to get my tea fixed on. Not really a fan of lounging at coffee shops but they do have a study space. Can get packed at certain times.
google avatar

Emily I.

Yelp
The boba is definitely delicious. It's a very strong floral flavor for the jasmine tea and it's great !! But my friends got chrysanthemum and genmaicha which were quite interesting. My friend described the chrysanthemum as a bit confusing, she thinks maybe it was brewing for too long but it's a fun try. My friend that got the genmaicha said it was very earthy. The flavors are worth trying if you're adventurous ! The employees were super nice and it looks like there's tables where you can play games and study in there ! I think since the flavors are so interesting they should offer mini boba flights to try a bunch of different flavors with less commitment. That would be delish I think !!!
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
Hmmm... still not impress. My friend loves this place for their chrysanthemum milk tea with chrysanthemum grass jelly. She ordered it and I tried it and honestly not my thing. It tasted too herby, like piney for me. Decided to get the jasmine milk tea with honey boba. Again, too much milk, and the boba was stale and too chewy. Just like how I remembered it 6 years ago when I first tried this place. Just not my jam and it's different for everybody. But just tasted like watered down milk tea with heavy load of milk and stale boba. Threw half of it away.
google avatar

Alice G.

Yelp
Camellia tea is great for boba because you can customize the type of tea and type of milk. Their boba is sweet, soft and perfectly chewy and coming from someone who doesn't usually get boba in their milk tea, says a lot. The employees are always friendly here. There are games available for customers to play which makes this a good hangout spot. I do always see people studying here, so it might be hard to find an open table. I usually order: -Jasmine milk tea with boba Located next to Daiso and Menya Ultra Ramen so the parking lot can be pretty busy.
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
Solid teas with a varied selection. When we had gone on Dec 7 they unfortunately were out of Hojicha which is typically our go-to, but they had temporarily replaced it with Roasted Barley which was still pretty good. Order was as below: Hot Cocoa Milk Tea [Seasonal] w/ Marshmallows $6.00 - this was combined with black tea which was intriguing and surprisingly worked! Provided an flavorful under-depth to the cacao bitterness of the dutch chocolate. Roasted Barley Milk Tea [Seasonal] $6.35 50%, Regular Dairy, Less Ice, Boba $0.70 - I looove roasted flavors and this was pretty good! SO really liked it as well as the chewiness of the boba. I prefer mine a little softer, but still yummy. Bamboo straws are also a huge plus :)
google avatar

Jessie Z.

Yelp
This place is so popular for their boba here! Very college student chill vibes and a great study spot with an abundance of outlets and wide plaza parking ( as a daiso). The noise level is medium with mainly krnb and the staff are nice + quick with the drinks. Pricing is typical boba price and they do have other drinks on the back of the menu. Also I saw a lot of people buy their tea leaves in my short time here. I got their mango fresca and it didn't hit me until later that it is premade like agua fresca and quite sweet. Initially you can taste the tea but as time goes on it washes away. Overall come here for study session and their milk tea is popular to locals/students
google avatar

Yelp
My absolute favorite boba spot!!! I came here last month and I'm hooked. I've been getting it every week. Camellia is located near Daiso, and there is always plenty of parking. They have a unique way of ordering where you choose the tea, milk, sweetness, and toppings! And let me just rave about the milks they use. They have Califia branded oat milk, almond milk, lactose-free milk. Such high quality milks. My go-to is the thai milk tea, or the matcha. The honey boba is soo good and flavorful. The matcha is strong and high quality! I am very picky about matcha, and this is definitely one of my favorites. There are some spots where you can study, as it is not that noisy. Service is great and they make the drink super fast. Thanks Camellia Rd!!
google avatar

Allen T.

Yelp
I needed a sugary drink to jumpstart my day and decided to find a nearby boba place. This spot had positive Yelp reviews, so I gave it a try. It's located next to Daiso in a strip mall. I visited on a weekday morning right after they opened, so it was quiet. I played it safe and ordered a classic black milk tea with boba. The drink was ready in about 10 seconds-super fast service! The inside was clean and bright. The 75% sugar level was perfect for me, and the tea flavor was nicely balanced. The highlight was the boba: chewy, just the right amount of sweetness, and great texture. The prices were pretty standard too. Overall, not a bad place at all, and I'll definitely stop by again.
google avatar

Ling L.

Yelp
Probably my favorite boba spot in SD because their hojicha milk tea is top tier!! I feel like the hojicha they use is very high quality and you can't find any other hojicha milk tea as good as Camellia's. Their Jasmine milk tea is also good, but my go-to is always their hojicha milk tea. Their boba is on the chewier side, which I don't mind. I like to come here to get work done and treat myself when I'm stressed from school. It can get loud when it's super busy because people play card/board games sometimes.
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Oh how I wish I lived closer so I could get Camellia Rd daily. Unfortunately, it's a 1.5 hr drive for me The jasmine green milk tea is so good--it tastes fresh, I love the flavor and strength of the tea, and the pearls are so soft and yummy (I wish I got full pearls instead of half pearls like I usually do). I had to buy some of the pearls to take home even though I work at a boba shop lol. My partner got the pu-erh milk tea. Pu-erh is pretty difficult to find, so it's surprising that they had it in the first place. He said it was mediocre, though. The cashier was really kind and allowed us to have samples before purchasing anything. I do feel bad because we held up the line, but she was very nice about it. There's plenty of tables for studying or chatting. People had their laptops out so it seems like a popular study spot.

Yelp
First time going to Camellia Rd based on my friend's recommendation. It was so good that I bought a second drink to try while we were catching up. They also sell their loose leaf tea and honey boba syrup in store which is pretty cool. The store itself has a good amount of traffic and seating indoors and outdoors. The service is efficient and quick. I got their Hojicha milk tea with grass jelly and a chrysanthemum milk tea. Both had good moderate flavor and were both super flavorful but not overpowering. I really enjoyed the Hojicha and house made grass jelly. The grass jelly was good in the sense that it's not overly sweetened and stayed true to the herbal flavor. I also appreciated that they cut the grass jelly in small pieces so it was easy to drink. I can definitely see myself coming back for more.

Yelp
This was my first time to this boba shop and I had such a great experience! I got the oolong milk tea and my cousin got the black milk tea. We also added the honey boba which definitely made it better! They're known for their teas and I love a strong tea taste especially in my milk teas. Will definitely be back again soon! It's also such a good vibe to be productive at as well, whether it's to study or work.

Yelp
Never tried a tea bar before but Camellia Rd Tea Bar has a great variety of blended teas. On a hot summer day, it's a great place to stop by for a milk tea with regular, almond, or oat milk option's. You can even choose what level of sweetness from 0 to 150%.

Yelp
Service: very quick, drinks made within 1 minutes Jasmine milk tea: uses actual milk and tea; not too heavy nor is it water downed Corn milk tea: taste like roasted rice tea like genmaicha; surprisingly good Honey boba: chewy, fresh, one of the best around sd Price: 6.35 with boba! Not bad

Yelp
Paid by card. Camellia is in the same plaza as Daiso and offers a lot of plaza parking. I went here on a weekend and it was packed! Only one cashier so I waited 10-15 minutes. Cute environment/decorations and they offer tea and boba for sale. I ordered the large Jasmine milk tea with zero sweet, less ice, and thought the tea was good but wasn't a fan of the boba since their texture was off, a little too chewy. Overall I'm not sure I'll go back to wait in the long line and get super chewy boba.

Yelp
Camellia is one of the better boba places in SD, and I can tell there is a lot of care put into the preparation of the tea itself. I enjoy the variety of teas offered, as well as the rotating monthly specials. I have had 2/4 successful attempts at coming here; one time I accidentally came on Monday, when they are usually closed, and another time I came on a Sunday but they had to close that day for equipment issues. The store is pretty spacious, with ample seating inside and a few tables outside as well. There are charger ports and the wifi is good. This is a pretty good study spot, though it can be a bit loud at times. They play music but not too loudly. The first time I came, I got the Scottish Caramel milk tea with chrysanthemum jelly. The tea was INCREDIBLE, subtly sweet and smooth with no bitterness. I could actually taste the caramel it was steeped with. The chrysanthemum jelly was super well-made, with a good texture and and chrysanthemum flavor. Unfortunately, I found out that day that I am not a big fan of chrysanthemum. It was still an enjoyable drink though. The second time, I got one of their monthly specials, the pineapple mint oolong. You unfortunately cannot customize the sweetness levels and I found this drink a bit too sweet. However, the flavor combination was delicious and so, so refreshing. There were copious amounts of chopped mint leaves, and the pineapple was honey-sweet. This is definitely one of my favorite SD boba spots. They were out of hojicha when I went so I hope I can try their hojicha next time.

Yelp
We ordered... - Chrysanthemum milk tea with Chrysanthemum jelly is good and unique. Feel fresh when drinking it. It goes very well with jelly. The aftertaste is a little bitter maybe is because of Chrysanthemum tea. - Thai milk tea with honey boba is alright. It is regular flavored that you could get anywhere. Nothing is special. Even it is a top three popular tea in the shop but this tea is lacking of Thai original tea flavor and can't even smell Thai tea. It is very sweet. Love the honey boba. The service is good and very busy not much available seats to sit. The restroom is clean.

Yelp
Wow!! Came along for the ride and decided to try a boba, so glad I did! Haven't had a boba with this perfect soft chewy texture tapioca balls since Taiwan. Not only are the balls a perfect chew, they're not overly sweet, plus you can customize for any condition you have. Lactose intolerant/sensitive people can order milk substitutes or leave it out completely (which is cheaper, and if you have a glucose problem you can order with less or NO sugar. Absolutely love this place!! Had the Earl Gray with no milk or sugar, but had a tad of sweetness from the boba added and my glucose monitor shows that it didn't affect my glucose much nor for long. Definitely coming back & spreading the word! Came Sunday afternoon, no wait. :)

Yelp
The perfect tea shop! We got the seasonal black sesame milk tea w/genmaicha and 25% sweetness and the hojicha w/25% sweetness and lactose-free milk, and both were super good! I love the cute decor and the spacious tables for studying or hanging out. They also don't play loud music, so it's just the perfect tea shop. The service was good too! We asked which tea would pair with the black sesame, and she recommended a couple to help us narrow it down. After they closed, we walked around Daiso, which is in the same center. There's plenty of parking too, and the bathroom is clean! (Bathroom code is 0987 at time of writing.)

Yelp
Definitely boba on the pricier side but you get what you paid for - I don't make the rules :). Definitely a high quality tea house where they source the best of the best. I'm extremely picky about my matcha and I think this place has the best matcha milk tea. Sometimes, I switch it up and get the chrysanthemum for a more herbal taste. The two drinks are astounding every single time for the past 4 years - even during Covid time. It is a definitely study spot but seats are relatively limited and get busy extremely quick. Lovely interior nevertheless. Service has always been pleasant. The ordering process is easy. There's not much room to wait for drinks if the seats are packed, so you might have to wait outside. But service is fast!

Yelp
My favorite boba place in SD !! There is ample seating and their drinks are sooooo good. Huge parking lot and right next to a Daiso! I like to come here and get some work done. There are outlets and big tables for groups to come and study, and small tables for smaller groups. We got: - chrysanthemum milk tea w boba - strawberry matcha latte

Yelp
Finally made my way here after all these recommendations of boba. I'm not a huge boba aficionado by any means but I can appreciate a good milk tea. I am unsure about the parking situation as it shares a spot with Daiso and Menya Ultra. When we arrived around 30 minutes before closing (there were still people ordering) I got the hojicha and made it 25% less sweet and thought it was still kinda sweet. It was good though - and customer service was good as they offered to adjust it if I wasn't satisfied.
