Yelp
The heat in Tulum is tortuous. There's really no way to describe it. I was visiting in February for my birthday and decided to do some sight seeing. It was 93 degrees that day, wow! I had some time between a walking tour and was seeking a place for ice cream and shelter. Campanella Cremerie was one of the first places on my Yelp app, so I walked over. Campanella Cremerie has a cozy, modern space. Out front are a fair amount of seating and tables. I walked in instantly feeling cool and relieved. The menu features gelato but also hot/cold food, pastries, and beverages. I would say, its more of a high end, modern cafe more than an ice cream shop (as I had thought). The staff immediately served me and were very attentive. The gelato flavors are a little more unique than what I've seeing the U.S. Yes, they have the standard vanilla but you'll find it in-between a pistachio flavored ice cream, or yogurt con fresitas treat. I opted for a regular sized cup of stracciatella (vanilla gelato topped with chocolate shavings). There was also an option to try a sample of the cheesecake which I definitely jumped on. After getting my treats, I found a quaint spot in a corner and just relaxed with my phone and music. The gelato was PERFECT! just the right amount of sweetness and the texture was soft and creamy. I loved it. I did not like the sample of cheesecake, I just didn't like the taste, a little bitter. Staff were very kind, attentive, and personable.
Overall, it was such a calming and great experience on a hot day. I was almost sad when I finished my ice cream. I cannot wait to return to Tulum, as Campanella will be among my first stops. Thanks for a great experience!
