Caña Rum Bar

Great atmosphere to have a business meeting with clients late night. Grab a some food and few drinks to have a solid time. The patio is very comfortable and spacious location. This place came clutch today. I would definitely recommend stopping by the location. I have been coming here for at 3 years now

Came here with some friends. Waited at the bar patiently only to find that the bartender playing some favorites. Definitely sees me and my friend with our credit cards out waiting to order despite us waiting patiently for him to finish making drinks for others. He goes to other customers who were vocal and totally disregards us. Didn’t appreciate and so I took my business and party elsewhere. Also the bathroom is disgusting. But they had a nice live band playing.

Great spot to smoke a cigar with a lot of specialty drinks. I’d recommend their “Brazilian Neck Tie” drink and staff has been pretty cool. Did New Years Eve and it was awesome. Membership fee is a great deal for the year. The patio isn’t that big but it doesn’t get too crowded and the inside is mainly for dancing. Cigar selection is alright but the vibe is excellent.

First time going. It is a very very small place. Its a bar/ dance club at night. Drinks were delicious. Atmosphere was inviting. It was very fun. Music was great. Not enough room to dance. It was very crowded. But its worth going.

Can I just say that the staff here is amazing? From the door guy to the several bartenders who just jumped in from nowhere to help the solo bartender on what would have been a quiet Monday night, everyone was authentic, kind and on top of their game. You can tell that everyone likes to work at Caña. It made me want to work there lol But of course, you gotta mention the drinks... they're unique rum cocktails (fiyah 🔥) and the music/vibe/crowd were all classy ratchet, I felt free to dance and not worry that I would be accosted. And dance I did. Yo perreo sola? Nah... Lol. Did I mention that they have a rum club with club hours? Damn straight I signed up. Lol 😂

Great place to unwind and relax with a date or get together with a group of friends. I love that there's parts that is dark and intimate while other parts is open and social to vibe with others. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks. A must see!!!!

I’m glad that my husband and I stopped by… The atmosphere is enjoyable and inviting… The drinks anre absolutely delicious… and Noel Was a delight to have as our bartender. We will be back and thank you for a wonderful experience.

What a cool spot. Came out to have some great rum and cigars after a long day at work. Not many options for cigars but with over 60 choices of rum, you are most likely to find something you like. Pull in at the entrance, park and walk to the front door. Caribbean music blasting as we walked down the dimly lit hall to the bar area. Ordered a glass of The Diplomatico, neat, paired with the Arturo Fuente Curly Head Deluxe stogie. Hung out in the patio room. High table, stools and fire place. Only draw back was there were no comfy lounge chairs. The vibe was good, the price was right and the service was great.

I attended Caña Rum Bar this past Sunday. Ive actually been wanting to go for the longest. I made it due to a DJ who i've been wanting to see live for the longest was performing there and it was my one opportunity to meet her. Long story short, Caña Rum Bar is definitely a vibe. Latin Vibes throughout the evening, I was wishing it was a Friday or Saturday night. Nonetheless, I am writing this review mostly due to the service I received by one of their bartenders, Alex! Alex is a mensch, he not only has great service but has the best attitude and is very welcoming. I will definitely be re-attending soon because of his excellence. Caña is my very first LA Bar I've ever been to, so I do have to thank them for the vibe they put out and the great drinks and cigar choices!! Bring Gia Fu back again please!!

Moody little space with dim lighting the night I went. I ordered the mojito which was strong! But delicious nonetheless. Refreshing drink. I had my first daiquiri here, it was a bit bitter for my taste so I know to stick with mojitos. Service was great, fast & friendly. They have salsa classes Monday, would be fun!

Long-time member that still looks forward to their Rum Society nights because Cana Bar comes 2nd to none when showcasing the best rums. The Puerto Rican Sonrisa showcase was fire this past Tuesday. The music selection @ Cana is always festive and I love smoking a bomb cigar in your vibrant patio. Thank you Noel & Letty for the craftsmanship!

I will be back for more salsa nights! I had such a fun time at this bar. The bar staff were attentive, the drinks were good, and the atmosphere is lively! Fun Latin music is playing and is great to salsa to. A live band plays later on in the night. Multi-colored disco lights were beaming on the walls of the dance floor which were fun, a bit mediocre feeling in the beginning but appreciated the effort to make the place groovy!

Came to LA for an event and was looking for a bar that played reggaeton and more Spanish music. We happened to cross Caña and it was the exact vibe we were looking for! And the bartender was amazing! I don't remember his name but he had long hair and listens to Charlie xcx LOL but the DJ was playing all the bangers old and new! Will def come back!

Fun atmosphere! Good dj on Saturday night! My friends and I got the Cuba Libre! I recommend the drink to anyone that doesn't like a strong alcohol taste. There is a quiet outside area with a cute fireplace or the inside louder dance section.

Such a fun spot! I visited for the first time last night and really enjoyed myself. From very friendly staff, cozy and fun ambiance, tasty drinks and great music. I had the 10 out of 10 as I like tequila and it was very yummy. The dj was playing my reggaeton faves which had everyone dancing. My favorite part was just seeing everyone having a great time enjoying themselves and being so friendly. I'd love to go back.

This has become my safe, go to spot whenever I want to go dancing in LA. The type of music ranges from Cumbia, salsa, merengue, Reggaetón and sometimes hip-hop. The venue is pretty small and does have an outdoor patio section where many people smoke cigars. Cigars are sold on the premises. Drinks are all rum-based and are typical LA prices ($16-$18). You do need to pay a membership fee that is good for a year in order to get in. You are able to bring three other people with you everything you go. If you like Spanish music, I think it's worth the price of membership.

Nice spot that needs a little bit of love in the form of cleaning certain areas of the club. Mirrors, walls and little paint etc. The environment is electric and crowd that was there added to the atmosphere and ambience. Drinks are pretty good and the staff all seemed very nice. Overall we had a great time.

The Latin music and lively atmosphere at this spot were definitely a highlight of the night. However, my experience was dampened when my brothers and I were charged an entrance fee upon arrival. This was a bit unexpected and not something I've encountered at similar venues before. It made the night start off on a slightly sour note, especially considering the already overpriced drinks. While the vibe inside was enjoyable, the surprise entrance fee left a bit of a negative impression. If you plan on visiting, be aware that there might be an entrance fee, which isn't typical for places like this. 3 stars for the music (cumbia, banda, merengue) which was the best part.

Excellent mojitos. Happy hour mojito is $10. Regular price is $14. Both excellent! The thing I didn't enjoy was folks smoking cigarettes inside the place. Boo.

We went here on a whim after having dinner right next door. I am not sure about parking as we walked over. But there is a parking lot right next-door to El cholo which is right next-door to the bar. It is South Park so don't freak if you don't see anyone there signs there was a barcode for you to scan the pay for your parking. We went about 8:05PM which was perfect as it is members only before 8.This was on a Monday by the way. Out front there is a huge neon arrow with the bars name on it so it is easy to see. As you go in the direction the arrow is pointing it is through a parking lot and the bar is in the back. There was a gentleman there to greet us. He was very nice personable and professional. The bar was not crowded at all we were actually the only ones there at that time, being it was a Monday night. When you walked in the place it was such a chill, cool, hip, and laid-back relaxed vibe it was kind of dark but it was real sexy for a romantic mood. It's a dive bar, so that's usually the vibe. It's also a cigar lounge we discovered as we walked in. They had ambiance upon ambiance upon ambiance. It was so romantic as it was just myself and my dinner companion so it felt exclusive and intimate, which it was. As we sat at the bar we were immediately greeted by the bartender. He gave us detailed description of the signature drinks to help us decide. We decided to go with the bars signature drinks and they were "off the chain" ( outstanding) lol. They weren't too sweet or too weak or strong, they were just perfect. I was looking around the place when i discovered the outdoor patio with fire place for cigar smoking, very cool. Cozy for a relaxing drink after dinner as well. The fire place is such a nice touch. We like the bar so much we inquired about how to become members. We were informed by the bartender and the manager as he walked in. They informed us that all we needed to do was to give our name and email and pay $50 for the whole year and we can become members and come anytime we want. When you are a member you get more exclusive services such as being able to drink after 2 AM if you pleased because the bar is able to serve until 5 AM being an exclusive members only bar. So we decided to become members. I am looking so forward to going back to this place and trying other drinks and enjoy the ambience. There is music playing but no too loud for your listening pleasure. As we were leaving we saw a DJ setting up. We didn't inquire about it so I am assuming after a certain hour they may have a DJ. I will inquire the next time we go which will be tonight to see how it is on a weekend . Great bar that we are now members of because we liked it so much .

This place is freaking epic! The drinks are ridiculously overpriced, but the girls are abundant, and they are ready to fornicate!

I LOVED this bar! I'd been wanting to go for YEARS, but I don't live close and I'd been daunted by the "membership" I'd heard was required to go. But then I received an invite to a book release party hosted by Angel City Press, so I figured that was my chance! The event promised $5 parking in the attached structure, from which I took a cool vintage elevator up into the lobby of the historic Petroleum Building, where Caña Rum Bar is located. The lobby security guard was very nice in pointing out where to go to enter the bar. The cocktails are carefully crafted, so there can be somewhat of a wait at the bar, but I just adored all three drinks I had: the Havana daiquiri (my favorite of the 3), the Cuban No. 2, and the El Boricua. I was impressed with the variety of their rums and the inventive spins they offer on traditional drinks. The book event occurred in the atrium area -- which I was delighted to find out was where Mrs. Doheny grew her orchids. It's a very charming space, one I'd love to see in the daytime or at magic hour/dusk with a little more light outside. I can't wait to go back!

Incredibly disheartened and disappointed by the way I was treated here. I had been here in the past and even celebrated my birthday here recently. Brought in a crowd of nearly 20 for someone else's birthday. There was a situation where I stepped in for someone who's card got declined due to a large charge being marked as a fraudulent charge (should have been a red flag). I went ahead and tried paying for them and my card was also declined, because it was also marked as a fraudulent charge. When I asked the bartender for the itemized receipt they immediately got defensive, as I suspected something was off with a seemingly large bill. Rather than continue a very calm conversation the bartender got security involved immediately and specifically kicked me out. I can't help but to conclude that this specific bartender was trying to dupe my friend to pay more. Will not be returning here. Otherwise, the DJ was incredibly friendly, the people at the door were friendly, and the ambience is constantly very chill and fun. Be careful with the bartenders.

No this place is a hidden gem. Granted it is hard to find but very much worth looking for. The place is super cool with their outside patio. Staff was amazing. Super friendly and great at suggesting drinks!

It's a one time fee but I definitely recommend it. It's super cute inside. It made me feel like I was in Havana lol the bartenders are great. The drink selection is very slim if you don't like rum lol but definitely an experience the music was great, the crowd was relaxed and the ambience is super cute dim and intimate.

I noticed this place has a high ratio of pretty girls (unseen in LA) and in groups too! It's like LA's lady's night secret or something. Drinks are ok-good, place is clean, even has a patio, lighting is great, not too dark, not lit up, and we'll the DJ is pretty good too! A place where you actually see people dancing and not participating in a staring contest. Maybe cause girls feel more comfortable to dance with other girls and less guys around This place is great, BUT, it sucks that the door is often closed and you can't tell when they are open or not. That must hit business hard. Unless "the ladies" are the only ones that get the correct number to call to enter seriously, barely any guys. Leave the door open and you get that 5th star. Also no one answers the phone EVER lol

Great music and original drinks! We liked the open patio in the back but try and get your drinks inside as there is one person attending the patio but too many people for one bartender once it's busy.

Cana Rum bar is a unique place. First, it is a members only bar. I believe the reason for membership is so they can sell cigars because it is a private club. This makes sense here because rum pairs well with cigars and the theme is very Caribbean. Would lean Cuban (I believe) if Cuban brands were legal here, but we settle on the rest of the Caribbean which isn't bad. Membership is $50 per person for the year and you can bring up to 3 guests. However, they waived the membership at the door and let me in as a guest. Very nice customer service! I was prepared to pay. Second, it is somewhat geeky. In fact, I hung out at the bar to learn a few things myself and found that many of the customers were in the same situation. That is, they asked for recommendations for the rum in their drinks. I started with the classic Mojito. Didn't need help picking this as it was at the top of my list coming in. The rum choice was Dominican and was very good. I have had it with Havana Club in other countries but never Dominican rum. I enjoyed this combination. The Rum Old Fashioned is served with 1888 Rum, also from the Dominican and I must say it was also very good. 1888 is a very smooth and aromatic rum and I will be sure to look for it in the future. I had an extra shot on the side so I could taste the rum solo. Third, if this was not a specialty bar, I would call it a Dive Bar. But somehow, despite the dark divey ambiance, this bar gets past that. Probably because it is purposeful and deliberate. The music fits, the bartenders are knowledgeable, and the suggestions are spot on! Dress is very casual. I will be back with friends!

The 1 star is for the cute patio they have inside. Other than that- ghett0, small, too overcrowded on busy weekends for such a tiny place, $50 for a membership ?, bathrooms are always messy as shit and too dark to see, some workers don't know anything about their rum, and an absolute fire hazard. There's only one exit/entrance one way in and one way out- awful.

First time at this bar and we didn't know that membership was required after 8pm. However, the bouncers were nice enough to let us in! It is a very cool, dark bar with a spanish/latin music DJ. They specialize in rum so of course most of their cocktails have rum in them; they are also just like any other bar so you're still able to get your typical cocktail if wanted. The bartenders are super friendly and are more than willing to recommend their specialty cocktails! Beware as a lot of their cocktails are strong, but they are still pleasant to drink! :-)

What an amazing experience and night. We were in from out of town, and everyone welcomed us as if we were the local regulars. From the bouncers, to the bar tenders. I gotta say, this will be my go to spot moving forward when I visit L.A. Their drinks are phenomenal!! We must have tried at least 6 different drinks, and ALL were impressive. Fresh ingredients, made in front of you. I will ALWAYS recommend this location if you're in downtown LA.

Its unfortunate because the place is nice but the people that work the front are scammers they made me pay $100 to get in at the door because I didn't have a membership. The guy that has the ski mask and the one with the braids they charge people $100 to come in the bar When they already have a membership

Absolutely NOT!!!! After waiting in line for 20 mins they told us we needed to be members to get in and requested we paid $50 to join. Nonsense.DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! It's not that serious for a drink and cigar after a concert. It's not good business to hustle people into a "membership" like your joining some society to get into an establishment.

I had a great time in a recent rum tasting. They recently changed tastings to Monday nights and I'm so glad I went. I learned so much and it was such a chill, fun experience. The bar itself has a dark, moody and sexy vibe. The entrance is inside a parking lot. But you can't park in that lot. It's street parking and can be tricky in the area. Indoor and outdoor seating. The back patio is outside and has fun lighting but people smoke out there so I tend to stay inside. They have a strict policy on shoes for safety reasons so ladies, don't wear sandals without straps in the back. Big shout out to the awesome manager, Calvin. He made me feel like family. I'll definitely return.

Came to DTLA for an anniversary trip and wish we were closer to come here more often. The entire staff we encounter from security to the bussers were so friendly and talkative. There are two areas: one is a cigar open air room with a nice fireplace if you want to hangout and talk with your group, the other room is fun, packed, and sweaty from all the dancing going on. The dj was so good it made for a fun night. The drinks are very delicious and with just 2 drinks it was enough to let loose. Next time I'm back in the area I might just sign up for the membership to try to come to the area more often.

Little, adorable, hole in the wall bar located inside a parking garage...yes..u must go in the parking garage... super fun... Not a fancy, place by no means. We(two couples) had just been to convention center to pick up race bibs for a 10k the next day. Place was empty but again we old folks were there early 4-5pm. No charge to get in an it was happy hour. Drinks were ok nothing extravagant...on the happy hour list. It's a small bar with a tiny patio and fireplace outside. It-shirt a tiny place! There was a very cool display of Rum bottles that we enjoyed looking over. Bartenders and staff were not that cheerful and friendly ... they never smiled and seemed to have a ... yeah.... what do you want..eye roll kind of attitude. We didn't stay for the music as a result and decided to walk over to another place nearby that had better service and more of an LA casual hipster feel. Although, we won't be going back i do recommend people check it out at different times and different days. It's cool to have to walk in through a parking garage. It's almost like it was a back storage room for the garage .. converted into a non fancy Rum bar.

Been here several times. It's a really unique place in Los Angeles. Amazing rum drinks and they have a outdoor area where you could smoke cigars. Great Cuban and Latino music. Nice people a lot of fun. Private club but it cost like $20 to join need to bring for guests every time you come for one year. Next to the staple center

I so adore this place. I love it so much that I am counting the days to the weekend so I can come back here to drink some rum and dance. It is a members only place but I guarantee you that it is so worth it. You can also take 3 guests with you which is not a bad deal. You just feel special because you are a member and they are not. Haha. The rum options are amazing. The bartenders are fantastic. The drinks are yummy. The music is upbeat. The place is small and dark but that gives the place a cozy and intimate ambiance. The crowd is pretty mixed, which is great because you do not feel that you stand out or anything. The best part... it's only a cigar lounge. Live music, rum, and cigars... sign me up! They do offer other alcohol options if you are not a rum drinker. Parking is a bit complicated since we went on a week night but scored street parking. We were meant to go to Caña that night. I just wished I have went sooner but hey I'm here now.

Good assortment of rum be prepared to get some Cigar smoke though. There is a designated smoking area but the doors are always open so you will get smoke inside too.
