Canada Steak Burger

We found this restaurant on Google maps while on a road trip. We all ordered the gyros. They were delicious. Fries were hot and crispy because they cook the food while you wait. Staff was very courteous. We will definitely eat here again and I strongly encourage you to consider it. It is a small location without a lot of seating so we ate in the car. Well done Canada Steak Burger team!

I’ve been coming since I was little, and my dad came here before I was born, so over 40 years. The food is fab! I always get the gyros, usually with their tasty seasoned fries, and same with my son. My husband rotates between the cheese burger, the burger with gyro on it, or the gyro pita with fries. We definitely recommend trying this spot out.

The burgers and fries were great, but the chicken was pretty low quality and the steak tasted as if it had been frozen for a while and wasn't cooked evenly. I know most people aren't coming for a steak though, so still worth a 4 star burger and friendly staff.

I really wanted to like canada steak burger I had been here before and remember it being good and I'm not saying it was not good the food was just average nothing spectacular I got the philly cheesesteak and it was decent toasted bun meat had good seasoning I also got pastrami chilli cheese fries they were the best part of the meal and my wife got the gyro plate her meat was good seasoned well she liked her salad But the dressing was really gelatinous And she was very disappointed in the tezzeki sauce service was really good

their beef hot dog wrapped in pita was absolutely delicious!!! I just wish the onions were grilled more as they were pretty raw. If you dont eat pork and are ever wanting a hot dog- this is the spot for it!!!!!!

Everything is bomb here. My favorite is their Gyro meat. It's not dry and they give generous portions. I'll drive 30 min to eat their food.

The food is wonderful! I look forward to it everytime I visit San Diego. My go to is the chicken kabob with yellow rice and authentic greek salad with Kalamata olives & Feta cheese is served with pita bread for about $20. Their rich homemade salad dressing is incredible. I would love to get my hands on the recipe. They also serve porterhouse steaks, fish & chips and a large array of greek and Pakistani everyday foods with Baklava for dessert. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Great burger joint and if burgers aren't really your thing they have plenty of other stuff on the menu including Greek foods. The burgers are way better than anywhere else in North Park. Seating is limited. The hotdogs are great too. They are grilled and fully loaded with onions, mustard and more. Update 06-01-23 Stopped by for lunch. Ordered two hotdogs with onion and mustard. Both were delicious as usual. It also looks like the restaurant did some remodeling since my last visit. Parking is still difficult.

"Y'all better come up here and get one of these"... "what's that... it's a chicken salad".... Ok this is better than my original Yelp newbie review from years ago hahaha... Anywho... grilled chicken salad never disappoints!!! Also had steak skewer.. meat was like butta.. they cooked it a perfect moodium rare!!

I have been coming to Canada burgers since I was in high school and now I bring my own kids there. The food is still really good. I guess they now have two locations. Get the steak burger for a solid burger, then the gyros and the grilled chicken salad and we always get the fries. Last time I wanted something different and tried their steak sandwich. Wow, it was simple, but great flavor. The staff is very nice. I always call to order, so I don't have to wait too long. Try them, you'll keep coming back. You won't be left hungry

We were on our way back to Vegas from San Diego and we wanted a quick bite before we hit the road and I found this on yelp. Tiny little shack just on the corner of a community. Very nice and clean inside a few tables for dining in and it was perfect inside. They had a pretty good menu I did not grab a. Photo I forgot too sadly. They did mention they were famous for their burgers but I was in the mood for some Greek food based of the photos I saw on yelp. I ordered a gyro plate and a chicken and beef kabob. They were boot absolutely phenomenal they flavors were out of this world. The gyro meat was so tender and juicy the fries were seasoned perfectly and crispy. The kabobs were flavor packed and juicy. The salad with the Greek dressing was killer! They should be famous for those items as well! The staff was friendly and our food was prepared in a decent amount of time. They do have a restroom also inside. And they have parking around the location if you are driving. This community is very fortunate to have a staple serving this quality of food in walking proximity. Keep up the good work!!

I was on a work trip and decided to have lunch in between my meetings. I was told by a person in the meeting that this was a good place to eat. I came in and I was greeted by staff. The staff was very polite and knowledgeable. I ordered the chicken and ribs with Greek salad with garlic bread. The ribs were grill to perfection, very tender and flavorful. The chicken was delicious and the Greek salad was great. Portion sizes were great and well worth it. Next time I will try the burger because that what everyone loves. Ambiance is customer friendly. Great place to go for lunch or dinner.

Food is honestly amazing and this has always been one of my favorite spots and it's always been a little pricy even pre pandemic. But you guys really want $1.40 for an extra Tzatziki sauce?! Have you guys lost your mind? Especially when you guys are right next door to Lolita's and I just gave them a five star review for good prices with food and not raising their prices too insanity like everyone else. I highly recommend you guys rethink your strategy especially when you throw away that sauce at the end of the night. Like damn. Anyways would love to go more when prices go down.

I love this place the food is freshly cooked right off the grill. The customer service outstanding. It feels like a total family experience from ordering to the back door totally recommend.

What's not to love? A family owned and operated staple in the community for years with amazingly fresh food, wonderful customer service and reasonable prices! A picture is worth a thousand words and the pictures don't even do their food justice. I've been coming here for years and won't be stopping anytime soon!

Food is really good i personally love the chicken Greek salad. The burgers and fries are great as well. Only thing that sucks is parking and the little seating but it's a small lot so it's to be expected.

If I could rate this place more then 5 stars I would. This is mine & my boyfriends go to place when we want something fresh, healthy, & filling. The food is always delicious and they make it so fast! I usually get the chicken souvlaki (which is big enough to feed 2) and my boyfriend gets the half chicken combo. This is place is not to sit down & eat, definitely take out only as the inside only has a few small sitting areas that directly surround where the line is. Parking is also really bad so if you are going alone on a busier day I would be prepared to illegally park & throw on your hazards at your own risk. The staff is super friendly and is always good to us. They know us by first name now lol

I just left there a few minutes ago. I ordered two gyros they were awful. I have been to this place many times before and the gyros were on point. I noticed that the prices have increased but the quality had diminished. Normally you have nice thin uniform slices of meat. This time around there were hunks of dry chewy meat just about in cubes some pieces look like carne asada strips. The pita bread was tuff and dry not moist at all. I don't have free money to hand out for less than desirable food. I will not be returning going have to find a new gyro spot. They didn't even sprinkle any feta cheese on top very generic.

I stopped by here for food while I waited for my tires to get replaced down the street. Its been a while since I have been in here, years! The interior is nothing to write about as there are no decorations, just a few tables and chairs. The food speaks for itself. The place seems to always be busy so you know its good. I got a pastrami sandwich and was excellent! Definitely stop in here if you're in the area and support local!

The og location is good! This place is small but the food is amazing! They have a Mediterranean menu as well so I'll be sure to try that next time.

Conflicted about this review, love their food, good value, but have to say something about this skewer. I get food from here like 2 times a month, I usually get the gyro, patty melt, burger, Philly cheese steak, skewer meal, but this time I got a gyro sandwich and was extra hungry, so I decided to get something extra, which was this chix skewer that was $9.99. I thought that it would be a good size skewer but this was what I got when I got home. Like I said I like this place, and will continue to be a patron, but I will never get nor recommend anybody get this chix skewer for 10 bucks that was 3.2 ounces

The food was delicious, I ordered the grilled chicken salad, which comes with pita bread no onions. The cashier was very customer service oriented and friendly. It was a lot of room in the small little restaurant because nobody was sitting inside. Everybody was enjoying the outside area. Getting back to the food, Chicken salad had enough olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and the lightness of the dressing over the salad was simply divine. The grilled chicken was tender and very flavorful. I would definitely recommend this place.

I usually go to the Chula Vista location but I was in the area and decided to try this one. Bad idea. The place is way smaller and run down. It reeked of marijuana and parking is limited. Additionally, the food ordered to go was wrapped in wax paper. How's that supposed to keep it warm? Admittedly it's been a while since I was at CSB but I feel the quality has gone down. I ordered a daily special gyro burger and kid you not, they only put two pieces of gyro meat on it. Burger was subpar and overall I won't return to this location. TWO STARS.

Husband was craving Gyros and suggested Canada Steak Burger, we have been here before for their delicious burgers and decided to try our their gyros! Hubby got the Gyro Sandwich and i got the Gyro plate with half salad and half fries. First off the portion sizes are HUGE! I ate half of my gyro plate and plan to save the rest for lunch tomorrow. It was so good!! The Greek salad that came with it was so good and the sauce! Plenty of meat and French fries perfectly seasoned! Highly recommend!

Best gyros in San Diego!!! A friend brought me here with the intent of making me fall in love with this family run restaurant. Well, mission accomplished, I'm I totally in love with this place. Not only are the gyro plates very generous, juicy, fresh, full of flavor, and include the best taziki sauce I've ever had. Their burgers are also insanely delicious. The fries are big and I suggest you order them extra crispy just for fun.

Canada Steak Burger came up as a place to try their cheesesteak sandwich. This spot is a small burger shack in the Normal Heights neighborhood. There were several tables inside that could seat around 16 people and a few more tables outside behind the building. The parking lot was very small and could hold maybe six vehicles. The Philly Steak Sub was $7.99 at the time of my visit. An extra $2 provided french fries and a drink which was what I got. The sub was about 10" in length and had chopped steak, melted provolone and shredded lettuce. I didn't think it was that special or unique. The fries were large and crispy which impressed me more than the cheesesteak did. Steakburgers, salads, gyros, dinner plates, and other sandwiches were available on the menu too. Maybe I should have gotten a different item like one of the steakburgers because based on my experience, I gave Canada Steak Burger a three star rating.

I love this small burger restaurant because not only do they have delicious burgers but many other items to choose from too. I've never been disappointed with the food here. I always get the 8 ounce charbroiled steak burger with Gyros meat combo with onion rings and a drink. It's a filling meal and taste so good. I love this place a lot

It's not the place it used to be. There are hardly any main ingredients on sandwhiches other than burgers. I will say that they give you a lot of fries. They said 15 to 20 minutes. Which when arriving 20 minutes after ordering. The sandwiches weren't even made. We waited another 10 minutes, and their was no line. When we called about the lack of ingredients, their response is somewhat intimidating and of the impression of "Oh well!" I was even surprised as to it being a Friday night and only a few sitting patrons. And there was no line when we arrived. But after last night's experience. I know why.

This place never disappoints. Small location and small parking lot, near North Park but the food is always so fresh and delicious. Call in ahead of time to order, the meat is nice and juicy and I really enjoy the salad they have here. I also really like the burgers and the combination plates are worth it! Big portion and really good pricing

TERRIBLE. After eating here, I suffered stomach pain like I had never experienced while trying to sleep later that night and here's why. The "souvlaki" was basically bricks of meat. Dry and disgusting. I'm shuddering even thinking about it. How that meat ever left that kitchen is beyond me. I'd pack in my knives and head straight home if I ever fed that to someone. The gyro meat was also dry, which baffles me. How in the world do you dry out fatty gyro meat? The gyro also had charred chunks in it! Imagine chewing up bits of burnt pieces from the grill in your food. Again--pack your knives and go, Canada Steak Burger. Uck. This place gives me the creepy crawlies.

Went to try this place out as I have had other people recommending this place to try out. The burger was a large burger that I definitely could not finish. The chili cheese fries were a lot of chili and cheese for the large order. Great portion of food. I just honestly wish the customer service was a little better. When I walked into the place no one said hello or greeted me. I had to say hello and they just smiled. Overall not bad but would I be back probably not.

Have not tried everything here but what I have tried (most) is always excellent, number1 plate is gyro salad with a pita. Burgers are out of this world tenders great too. A s.d gem, but iunno if the gyro meat changed it tasted different

Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. Customer service is fantastic. The food is next level good lol. My favorite is the Canada streak burger. The fries are nice and crispy, the cheeseburger with the gyro meat OMG lol it's life changing highly recommend getting that if your a first timer.

Went today for lunch. Super tasty. Some of the best onion rings I've had in town. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich combination. Chicken was very moist and tasty. Want to go back now and try the gyros.

I've eaten here many many times and it is always consistent. The burgers, gyros, kabobs, pastrami are all delicious. The Greek salad is huge for the price and I love their dressing. The customer service is always great. You're greeted by a friendly person at the register every time. They will customize your order with no problem or hassle. I can say I've been a loyal customer for almost 30 years. I no longer live in the area and am so glad they're available on Door Dash now. When you have a chance stop in for a great experience or Dash it.

I recommend Canada steak burger to the universe. The quality and flavor of their food is consistent. There's love cooked grilled chicken salad off the chain 10 stars chicken kebabs just everything delicious and consistently delicious.

Canadian? I don't think so. But that's ok, we like them anyway! Went here because a coworker said they had the best fries they'd ever had. Did they disappoint? Hell no! The prices are ridiculous. You'll get twice the meal at half the price of other burger spots. Friendly folks too. Small off street parking and smaller interior dining, but you're not paying for amenities here. Rate it: GOTTA try it

Ate here twice. Very consistent. Staff is not outgoingly nice, but they are even keel, good humans, clear and polite communcators. Seats inside are few but both times, I went, there were still open seats. Also both times I went, there was a study influx of people ordering food. Its a solid restaurant with that hole-in-the wall vibe. Chicken is marinated well, veggies are clean and fresh tasting, burger was tasty (but if you want it cooked medium well or well, you should specify-- I didnt know and mine was pink), fries are delicious, chili cheese fries and good too... i mean just get your food here and enjoy it, that's really all there is to say about it.

Delicious chicken kabobs, my favorite! Really friendly and hardworking people. Just make sure to order over the phone before getting there. Unless you're like me and don't mind waiting a bit to get your food.

Service is if you order an hour before they close and if they "feel like" answering the phone. So maybe they needed to get out tonight or didn't want to serve. I tried calling more than 30 minutes ahead and no one answers. I drive in to location and all three employees standing there and tall lady boss comes from back telling me they cannot serve me. It was 8:50. They close at 9:00pm. wtf.

Ordered pickup after Sunday worship. We had an order of baked chicken and another if bbq chicken. Both cooked to perfection. Served with salad, rice or fries and garlic bread. Everything is fresh and delicious This location is small, clean, friendly staff. Area for dine in or tables outside. Order pickup usually twice a month. Worthy!

Tried the cheeseburger combo. Just your average burger. The meat quality could be better (probably frozen). The fries were great.

This place needs a major cleanup and new paint job and maintenance. It states it has been around since 1981 and I believe nothing has been done since then. The service is just enough to not walk away. I ordered the gyro sandwich which was just ok. They tried to charge me for more tzatziki sauce when they gave me one only half full. Then they gave me an attitude. The employees take smoking breaks right outside next to where you are eating. This place stinks, the eating area is next to the dumpsters. Wont be back again, ever!

We hadn't had a Philly Cheesesteak here in quite a while, so we decided to go here. What a waste of time AND money. First of all, why is the meat finely chopped to shreds ? Shouldn't it be thin slices? Secondly, we were told they don't have any mushrooms - a staple in a REAL Philly Cheesesteak. And then it had no bell peppers (the girl @ the register said they're probably just finely chopped, but they're in there - NOT!) And finally, no flavor. Being from Philadelphia, this is the most disappointing version we've had yet, especially compared to what it used to be. We understand that most stores are making everything smaller, but this samdwich is simply ridiculous. Jersey Mike's is the place to go.

Got my sandwich and it was totally squished and soggy. Wouldn't recommend ordering anything to go. They over stuff the bags.

Very salty fries, but they were hot and crisp and over salted as with my pastrami sandwich. And the pastrami was stringy and just a lot fatty I went to pick up my order and then I went to get to the cashier and there's like expected a tip. I wasn't sure why they expect a tip since it is expensive and I am already paying for them to cook it and why am I giving her shit for her to ring me up so she looked at me and said thank you call so rude.

Perfect chicken kebabs. best in San Diego, way better than Kebab Shop. Burgers are really good as well. Most importantly they are consistent.

We did take-out. I ordered the Gyro plate. It was delicious! Lots of meat, delicious pitas and wonderful greek salad. The best i've ever had.

I had lunch at Canada Steak Burger on 12-16-21. I ordered the gyros sandwich daily special for $10.50 that came with a can of soda, fries and a small container of tzaziki sauce. They were out of the chicken wings that I wanted. I was the only person ordering at that time, and my order came up pretty quickly. The gyros came on a pita with tomatoes and raw onions. It was tasty, and the fries were good as well. The bathroom was clean, although one wall was covered with graffiti. There is a parking lot, but it only has 5 spaces. Next time I'm trying the eponymous burger.
