"Those in search of vibrant nightlife vibes on the Westside will do well at Canary, where colorful LED lights, tropical foliage accents, and DJ-spun tunes bring a clubby atmosphere to downtown Santa Monica. Expect plenty of tiki drinks to keep everyone at the party well imbibed." - Crystal Coser
"Canary Santa Monica is launching a new jazz night on Sunday, December 8, complete with burlesque dancers and, of course, cocktails." - Farley Elliott
"Santa Monica’s nightlife scene is getting a bit of a boost soon, thanks to the upcoming opening of a new live music venue and lounge called Canary. Canary is expected to open this summer inside the former West End address just off Arizona near 5th Street. The owners, who hail from Belmont, Bruhaus and Neat, say they hope to turn the venue into a lush green and gold hideaway, with room for live music multiple times per night. As of now, the club will host live acts on Thursday and Friday from 10 p.m. to midnight, with DJs filling out much of the rest of the evenings. Sundays will feature jazz, similar to the new jazz and funk nights happening nearby at Ingo’s Tasty Diner in Santa Monica. On the food and drink side, expect basic snacks alongside a variety of classic and tropical-inspired cocktails from barman Devon Espinosa. There is no firm opening date for Canary just yet, but expect hours from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., Wednesday through Sunday." - Farley Elliott
