This is my very first time visiting this establishment, have heard great things about them in the past. Originally I planned to visit a different Bbq establishment but due to them being closed and my husband, my kids and I were craving for ribtips and when we arrived the parking lot was pretty busy and so was the inside so we knew we had made an awesome choice until we entered to be serviced. The cashier that started off taking my order was also multitasking (bagging and handing out orders to customers) but he rushed me the entire time. He wasn’t rude at all, I really believe he was a little overwhelmed with duties he was put up against at this time of the day so I understood him completely. He then asked me to give him sec., and another guy approached the counter and asked “How May I help you?” without a greeting nor any knowledge that my order had was already partially taken. After finally completing to take my order, I decided to sign up for their rewards program but the machine was giving me several technical difficulties and when I asked him for assistance, he replied saying “I’m a cook, I don’t know nothing about the stuff up here etc. It turned into a big debate. Very bad customer service experience!! Overall the food itself was pretty descent. Potato salad 8/10, Baked beans 7/10, Ribtips 9/10 very tender all way to the gristle and The Half Slab Of Pork Ribs 9/10.

Calvin is patient. He’s respectful and gives the building a home sense. The restaurant itself has an authentic atmosphere. Really makes you feel closer South

I ordered a rib tip sandwich through Doordash and my meat was RAW! It was not edible at all and the potato salad was mashed potatoes at best! At least the barbeque sauce was alright!

I have to places like this that are small businesses and I am most of the time happily surprised. This was the total opposite. Maybe it’s my fault for having high expectations but the place did not delivered. I asked for a 1/2 slab of ribs they were not fall off the bone good. A little chewy disappointment. They couldn’t accommodate to what I needed either. Unpractical not considering customers request. That’s a major no no. Will not return. Too pricey for quality

C&K used to be the Best barbeque spot in the St. Louis area. I remember my mother coming home late nights from going out somewhere and coming home with some C&K Barbeque. Her specialty was a whole order of spicy rib tips and potato salad and they would wrap it up in a white paper folded up, and the barbecue sauce would soak the bread on the bottom it was The Best! The small would wake you up outta your sleep 👍 But since the original owner has passed it down to their children now it's nothing like it used to be. They boil their meat , the sauce isn't as thick as it used to be. In my opinion it has gone down. I don't even eat there anymore, it's not a taste that I inquire anymore. But if you like your meat boiled well head on up there and bon appetit to ya. Cause back in the day their meat was grilled not boiled. So I go somewhere else to buy me some grilled Barbeque meat.

The food is AMAZING. The sauce is "shut your mouth" good. Thick, and hearty, and flavor-filled. All is the meat was tender, fall off the bone perfect... beef bbq, turkey ribs, bbq chicken. It is a classic neighborhood, somebody's grandpa on the grill killing it. There are no frills to the building or the customer service. Just no nonsense and darn good food.

Google
I I saw them on the food channel and decided to give them a try. Everything was great! The food was great, serve was right on point and nice prices. And the restaurant was clean.

Google
This C and K restaurant is a rip off. The snout/tip combo only offers 3-4 small tips and 4-5 small snouts for approximately $15.00. The meat was not thoroughly cooked/tough, untasty and really couldn't be eaten. Disgusting expensive and does not match the portions or quality. They should be ashamed as a business. I hope they lise their business

Yelp
Lovely food. As I hear, this is one of the first BBQ joints that opened in STL. One of the legendary BBQ spots in North City. I was pleased by my order, it was delicious, well cooked, and lived up to the reputation. I can't wait to try it again. Highly recommend!! Bad picture but I got a Snoot and Rib Tip combo. The sauce is EXCELLENT
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
We are not from St. Louis. We kept seeing advertisements for pig snoots and were dying to try some while we were here. C&K Barbecue got great reviews so we decided to try them. I got a pulled pork sandwich and my bf got a rib top sandwich with pig snoots. The pig snoots were not with our order and the rib tip sandwich was complete with gristle. Had to take the meat pieces out so it really wasn't a sandwich. Pulled pork wasn't smoky tasting at all, and was absolutely drench in sauce even though I asked for little sauce. I had to disassemble it was so messy and saucy. Cole slaw was very good though. Wish we could've had snoots!
google avatar

Yelp
Basically a take out place, C&K is the best bbq in St Louis!! Pork spareribs, beef ribs, snouts, pulled pork and more. Dynamite sauce, not too spicy hot or bland ... none of those plastic squirt bottle varieties that the mediocre joints in town use as a distraction. And this is not the barely-smoked meat they offer. True que worthy to be called the best, right up there with the great ribs I've had in Oakland CA, Mobile AL, and the Los Angeles areas. Worth the drive !! Nothing fancy - just great food!!

Ci C.

Yelp
If I could give it zero stars I would. Orders a beef Polish because they didn't have any snoot for the day. The Polish was clearly microwaved and rubbery. The potato salad was disguising and it was drenched in bbq sauce so it was super soggy

Yelp
I have never stepped foot into C&K BBQ. I have however had their food for many years. They used to cater our Saturday lunches. We would order Chicken, Ribs, Sausage, and best of all Rib Tips. What caused this review to happen I was trimming my ribs I had purchased into "St. Louis Style. When you trim the ribs correctly you are left with a bunch of waste that appears to be useless. These are the rib tips and are the most flavorful pork you can ever eat. What separates C&K from other places is their sauce. It's a thin sauce that they absolutely load up the black pepper. When you purchase this sauce, it is a "green" sauce. Not green in color but the sauce needs to be heated up before use. This is only for the gallon jugs that they sell at the store. It has been 7 years since I have had their food. I have no idea why this popped into my review suggestions, but I am happy it did. I thought I had written, and I hadn't. If you like adventure and want to try some authentic ribs tips with some of the best potato salad in the land this is your place.

Yelp
First things first, my very first time in Saint Louis, wishing Sweetie Pies was open. very nice people. Traveling back to Ohio and hubby wanted BBQ. I type in black owned and you guys popped up as the best in St Louis! We ordered the turkey tips excellent! Chicken wings, excellent! Had a little mix up on our ribs we ordered beef but received pork, minor mistake was taken care of, and the beef ribs didn't disappoint. Baked beans are great! Potato salad good. I tell you it's the best I've had since leaving Cleveland Ohio. Sorry Vegas! Great atmosphere filled with locals. Thank you for good food and service.
google avatar

Allisa S.

Yelp
The chicken wings were good. The service was fair, but to be fair, the young man was working the front and the back by himself while I was there. I had an issue with trying to place my order online, so I had to wait until I got to the restaurant, not realizing there was a kiosk I could've ordered from as well. Next time I will be ordering from the kiosk rather waiting to place my order for 10 minutes. There was nothing significant nor extravagant about the "ambiance". There were seats for waiting while inside, and that was enough for an in and out establishment.

Sherrie B.

Yelp
Disgustingly ill prepared food. Portions don't match the prices. Snout/tip combo only has 3 under cooked tips and about 4-5 small pieces of snout, small side for $15.00. The meat was undigestably undercooked, bread was so soggy it could not be eaten. Most of itvwas thrown away!! Rip off!!! Cook your own food. I hope go out of business. They do not deserve the communities support, at all!!!!

Yelp
Good salmon sandwich I would recommend if you're looking for a healthier option. And very affordable too.

Yelp
Quick and polite service has always been the case. It's take-out only with plenty of parking and my favorites are the snoots and tips combo, and the hot links, and the beef links. I prefer chunky potato salad so I eat theirs but don't really care for the smooth mashed potato consistency that some people love. Still the meat is good so I do go back.

Charlotte M.

Yelp
Food was horrible what I did receive. Wrong soda, and tips were very tough. Never order from there again.
google avatar

Alisa H.

Yelp
Really heavy on the sauce. Could ease up just a little. Ordered multiple dishes. Wings, beef link, brisket and rib tips were all very tasty. However the wings were a little tough. Otherwise every thing was awesome. The customer service was excellent. Will be back when I'm in town.

M C.

Yelp
12/30/24 I brought a beef rib 30$ the rib came bone up. I turn the rib over and all the meat was curved from the bone. Meat at the top to hold the rib together & meat in between the bones. I've cooked many beef rib and know the different SAD BLK PPL

Kenya C.

Yelp
Love the rib tips and service! The sauce is so tasty and pairs well with the potato salad and baked beans.

JULIUS R.

Yelp
Went there today. Placed an online order and love the simplicity & convenience of it but I don't like the restaurants trying to add Tips to online orders. Why should I pay a Tip for you to just make my order? There's nothing extra you're doing. I'm not getting anything extra or discounted. I'm never leaving a Tip for an online order I'm picking up! Now back to the food. I use to stay directly across the street from C&K. As a matter of fact I was there when they 1st opened and have been going there every since. Their Ribtips have always been hit or miss. Today(07/13/24)it was barely fair. I ordered the Ribtip sandwich($12.99)with baked beans and a pint of potato salad($7.99). You get about 10/11pcs. of ribtips on the sandwich. I have always loved their smooth, sweet potato salad. I also paid 10cents for extra BBQ sauce that I didn't get. I had sauce that barely covered the bottom of the container. I usually get more when I don't ask for extra! You also get 2 slices of bread. The Ribtips were medium tender with a slight smokey taste. I couldn't taste any other seasonings on the meat. The sauce is sweet with a little red pepper heat to the BBQ sauce. The baked beans had way too much red pepper added to the sauce. They taste like they were made from scratch and had a homemade taste. They would have been good if not for all the pepper. I only go there roughly once or twice a year. You don't get enough for your money nor is it really that good. It's more of a nostalgia thing and I pray I can luckup on some good BBQ that day! When I arrived there to my surprise there and no customers. I thought I was avoiding the crowd by playing an online order. The potato Salad is always good and has never changed! I think it will be another year before I return!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while- Primarily because they offer beef ribs in most barbecue places do not. First things first. Let's talk about the sides. I really enjoyed the coleslaw as it was creamy but a bit on the watery side- although The taste was really good. The potato salad was of a whip style and definitely on the sweet side with some relish added. Not my favorite but still that's a personal choice And not meant to be a criticism of the quality. The baked beans or salad in the french fries were just me. I am a french fry-aholic (I have a serious issue) so I enjoyed them but they were not particularly crispy. The beef ribs were tender and extremely tasty!! The sauce complemented the ribs well. The turkey ribs were meaty and very tasty with the sauce. The chicken wings were also outstanding. The sauce was a little sweeter with the smoky flavor and I liked the spices in the sauce. I thought it really complemented the meat very well. All the meat came with white bread, your standard bunny bread style. Didn't really eat that as I'm not a white bread person I did have one bite it was sopped up with sauce. The young man who took my order was friendly, courteous and my food came relatively promptly as I ordered when I got there and did not order ahead of time. Glad I stopped by C & K and I will definitely be back for those beef ribs.!!!

Terri M.

Yelp
Food is delicious especially the rib tips and snoot combo I only wish that they delivered the food so disabled people could get some of that delicious food!

Yelp
No-frills carry-out BBQ spot that has been a staple in North STL since 1963. I came on labor day and they were extremely backed up. It took 50 min for me to get my food! They were very apologetic however, and gave me a free orange soda as compensation. I got a pulled pork sandwich (which came with mashed potatoes) and a side of french fries. The sauce on the pulled pork sandwich was amazing, however the meat itself was very fatty left much to be be desired. The fries were solid. It is hot as h*** inside the place, as the residual heat from the grills amps up the temperature, and they only have one fan to cool it off, however they have a patio where you can sit and wait as well.

Kina S.

Yelp
This food was a big disappointment. The rib tips sandwich had bones and every single rib tip How am I supposed to eat a rib tip sandwich with bones in it ? the side of green beans really small smarter than a child portion of green beans also, I ordered a hotlink pork sandwich and a side of potato salad. They put the potato salad on the sandwich, not on the side like it says when you order they put it on the sandwich. I feel like it was a big waste of money, the flavor a little good but overall out 0 of 10 never recommend. Oh, and I ordered this on DoorDash for those wondering they will never get a single dollar out of me again.

Willie T.

Yelp
Good food. Lots of menu choices. First tried to place 2014 on a road trip. Their turkey ribs were something I couldn't forget for all the right reasons. Their chicken wings are amazing as well. Revisited recently on another road trip and same order from 9 years ago. Turkey ribs and chicken wings. The fries and baked beans weren't anything special. I'm not big on other people potato salad or coleslaw so I usually stay away from ordering those items. All in all this place is awesome BBQ and a staple to Saint Louis. I've had other STL bbq restaurants and it was bland. C&K only ones I will revisit in Saint Louis.
google avatar

Anthony A.

Yelp
Based only on the food. My To-Go order of BBQ sandwiches looked as if the meat was placed in the styro-foam container, a slice of white bread tossed on top, then everything covered in a Maul's BBQ type sauce. The meat did not taste of Bar-B-Que, at least any BBQ I know of. With the many BBQ choices in STL now, there is no reason for this place not to step up their game and deliver a better product. If they were to take time and make an effort with To-Go orders, perhaps more people would be interested in stopping inside. I would love to support a longtime STL company. I'd love to give them my money for a strong product. But they won't fool me again. The two young women who took my order were helpful and friendly.

Yelp
Okay here we go! Place your hands on your stomach and rub while licking your lips. This hole in the wall BBQ joint has been HANDS DOWN the BEST rib joint for over 40-years!!!! Black owned and NOT commercialized nor watered down. Food: You get the delicious southern style side dishes, the WONDER BREAD type bread to sop/soak up the DELICIOUS BBQ sauce. Pick up falling off the bone TENDER BBQ, BBQ sandwiches, (hot) link (polish sausage) sandwiches, etc. A variety of beverages (non-alcoholic). Atmosphere Always clean! It's located in a converted fast food restaurant. I've always gotten my food to go (because I don't want to slobber around folks!!) Just try it! You'll want them to freeze it and ship it all over the world where ever you are! Yum
google avatar

Bex M.

Yelp
My partner and I are on a mission to try more new restaurants, especially black owned restaurants. We found a list and will be making our way down the list. C&K was one of the first spots we went to and we made a pretty big order. The potato salad was pretty tasty if you like your salad on the sweeter side. I ordered pulled pork and was not really impressed. The pork was not pulled, it was just pieces of pork on a bun, so that was disappointing. The bbq sauce was good though. My partner got the ribs and wings and LOVED both. The fries were no his favorite so he barely touched them. Overall it was a good meal. If I'm in the area, I wouldn't mind going back.

Virginia C.

Yelp
I come here to buy their bottled sauce (2/$5). It's locally made, in-house, and it's sweet/smokey. I only like to buy a bunch and pair it with other sauces from STL BBQ joints to create the best care package to my friends in the east and west coast for the holidays. But on to the food- the speciality is snout. And honestly- I'm just not a fan and I don't eat a lot of pork, never-mind snout. It's not the same type of BBQ as Pappy's or Salt n Smoke, but it's def. and worth the trip/try - even though it's in the middle of nowhere for me. For some reason- everything is also served on white bread. BTW- there is no seating in here (besides a bench)- this is a take out only type of place.

Tasha C.

Yelp
Every time I come home to visit my family in STL, I stop by C&K for the good BBQ and tripe sandwich.
google avatar

Jessie P.

Yelp
The barbecue here is good, I love the customer service too. Put an order in and the food is usually done ASAP

Hadiyah W.

Yelp
I ordered a rib tip sandwich..this was the worse BBQ I have had... we were unable to chew or digest. It was great for our pet, after rinsing the sauce off...please return to boiling the meat or return to cooking the meat like it was back in the day.. I do not know if it's under new ownership but definitely not the same as when Lonnie was there. Would not recommend or return until it's edible!!
google avatar

Ty B.

Yelp
On 7/19/2020, I purchased a whole beef rib and this is what I received. This is Unacceptable to say the least....I tried calling them yesterday and today and no one is answering the phone? I not happy with this at all! I I ordered a full slab of beef ribs and got 6 ribs? They have always gotten my order correct and the food was great but when I ordered this time(the same as always) I got home to explain my experience and the young lady acted like I was trying to get a free meal or something..wow.
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
This place is absolute fire! Easily the best carryout BBQ in town. Large portions at a small price soaked in sauce straight outa heaven!
google avatar

Steven E.

Yelp
I ended up reading a review, about how good the Turkey ribs are. So I figured I'd give them a try.It was about 20 minutes out of the way.But the barbecue was excellent it was a decent price the cashier was courteous and the food was prepared and served quickly.Keep up the good work
google avatar

Sonia K.

Yelp
I'm always a happy customer here, food be fresh and so bomb every time. Rib Tips with the bread on bottom and too yes sir!!

Mandy G.

Yelp
I don't get the hype. The sauce is good but the quality is bad. Was just a box of greasy slop.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
BBQ needs grilling and smoke. Unfortunately this place appears to do neither. While having a very good sauce and a very good baked bean side, the main courses were very disappointing. Baked BBQ is a waste of very good meat. There are many other BBQ places that do it right. Sure wish this was one of them.

MissAlmondeyesstlmo1 T.

Yelp
I came to this restaurant 4/.17/21 with some family members and since they were not practicing safe social distance three of my relatives decided to go sit in the car. The heavy set girl with the braids taking orders identified herself as a manager and if I owned this restaurant she would have been fired immediately with her nasty tone and what she was saying to customer because she was DUMB and could not count. I WILL NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS RESTAURANT AND MY RELATIVES I WAS WITH SAID THE SAME. I will be passing the word around she was a real piece of work to deal with. We've been supporting this business since it opened back in the day. You want people to support black businesses but you hire ignorant unprofessional people to work in them.
google avatar

Kimyada G.

Yelp
Stopped on a Wednesday night, got rib tip, potatoe salad, and polish. Rib tips sauce was ok, the meat did not taste smoked and really didn't have a BBQ flavor more like baked or something. Meat fell apart and tender but not in a good way. I've never had a gristle that soft in my life! She showed us the container the tips would come in and we chose it bc it was big enough, but it was not full! Polish was small and we didn't get the potatoes salad on top we paid for. Also the potatoe salad was SUPER sweet and too mushy and too many sweet pickles throughout. Won't be back at all!!!
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Gross. Period. On the menu? Snouts. Tripe. Pigs' ears. I tried for a pulled pork sandwich. They were out. Pulled beef? Out? Links? OK. The guy disappears in the "back," a dark abyss, where he arrives with a paper sack, and I scurry out. You see, there's no seating on the premises. You must take out only (which, in hindsight, is a good thing.) The sandwich? One link, split in half, sitting on two grease-SOAKED pieces of bread. GROSS. Move on.

Brenda V.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst! The potato salad was runny , the meat was just not good
google avatar

Ramona B.

Yelp
The barbecue is good. The location is carry out only. The barbecue sauce is really really good. We buy it by the bottle and we use it at home on lots of things, including baked salmon. My son in college also takes a bottle back to school with him. I am glad you can order on line now.
google avatar

Cran C.

Yelp
Just like the other reviewer said, how do you give a place low stars based on what they serve?! That's stupid. I actually went there for the snoot, not for me but for my partner in grub and he said they were cooked perfectly, not too fatty, crisp and the sauce was good. I had the rib tips sandwich which were good. Some pieces were a little dry, some pieces a little fatty but that's typical with rib tips. I liked the sauce and I didn't find it to spicy at all. Would I go there again? Yep.
google avatar

Yelp
Based on reviews we read on Yelp, we decided to try C& K when we were visiting St. Louis. We decided to stick with ribs. They were good, but not great. We found them to be meaty, but lacking smoky flavor. After we left C &K, we were driving down a nearby street and saw a local vendor with a smoker selling BBQ. I wish we had skipped C & K and tried the local guy.

Cherilyn H.

Yelp
I am a true fan of C&K BBQ joint and although I no longer live in the S-T-L, in my way out, I stop by to get either the chicken or the turkey ribs to go. You haven't had bbq until you try C&K. So glad you're still open and doing the dog gone thing. I have not found a place that compares the real taste of bbq like C&K. Watch out, you might get hooked like I am.

Beverly H.

Yelp
I am a customer since the 1960's. Recently I stop by to pick up a Beef Rib Sandwich, it was so tender and juicy. Thank you for still serving our St.Louis Community.

Gary H.

Yelp
I have been eating at C and K BBQ for over 30 years and they are the only BBQ restaurant in St. louis I will patronize. I love their ribs, ribs tips their bbq sauce and their smashed potato salad,so delicious. I buy bottles of their bbq sauce that they sale.

Josh R.

Yelp
All the other reviewers are nuts. This place was great. How does somebody complain that this place serves snoot and tripe? Those are something this place is known for... Also, you can see the food being prepared, just not from where you order. After you order if you walk to the other end of the counter, you can see into the kitchen. Why would you wait at the cash register anyway? I also don't get how somebody complains that there is no seating. This place is take out only, thats just what they do... Anyway, I had the snoot plate, it was fantastic, nice and crispy, great bbq sauce at this place. Be forewarned though, this place is in a pretty bad neighborhood. People who live there were definitely staring at me, I was very out of place.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
I went to C&K with hopes to find another bbq jewel in this area. I order the spare ribs, pulled pork and snoots. The ribs were awful they were so tough i couldn't even eat them. No smoke flavor, hardly any rub and they tasted boiled. I asked the lady who took my order what kind of wood they use to smoke the meat and she said they don't used wood just carcoal so there ya go. The pulled pork was ok but contained alot of fat. The snoots were not cooked or prepared properly. I could not eat even half of them, they were soft and chewy. The best thing was the sauce which was decent. Not worth the trip stay away!
google avatar

Saucy G.

Yelp
I loved my rib tips from here! The sauce is what brought it together. Came with mashed potato salad...only way to say that one lol but its a standard side to me that goes with BBQ places. You can totally tell they are made in house but I had no problem with that, eat em hot bc they will get tough. Now for smoked rib tips must one go elsewhere, but if ur around the way its right off 70 and Jennings, easy in and out.
google avatar

Rich C.

Yelp
My wife had some of the best ribs she's ever eaten here but I thought they were overly dry and too spicy. I don't like that when you order, you can not see the guy preparing the food. Who knows where it came from, but it was ok.
google avatar

Kiki M.

Yelp
I've been eating here since I was a kid. My favorite dish from here is a snoot sandwich. It comes covered in bbq sauce, potato salad on the sandwich and bread smothered in the sauce. I love it. When I visit other establishments, I ask them to add my potato salad to the sandwich and cover it all with sauce. Still yummy after all these years.

Yelp
I LOVE C&K..ALWAYS HVE ..BEST IN TOWN.. hell im grwn now.. dont need momma to take me nomore. Lol i live the sauce..nd those deserts.. them delicious cookies.omg!
