Get Candy-Topped Boozy Fish Bowls at Candy Shack Daiquiris’ Newest Location - Eater Houston

"Houston loves its boozy drive-thrus, and now the city has another outpost of Candy Shack Daiquiris, which serves up booze-filled slushes topped with gummy candy for Houstonians on the go. The boozy drive-thru chain already counts three area locations, and over the weekend welcomed its newest outpost at 5111 Washington Ave. The shop offers a dozen classic daiquiri flavors like piña colada and hurricane that customers can order in giant to-go cups or fish-bowl sized servings, plus it has another dozen alcohol-fueled options under the “mixology” category like caramel apple or peaches ‘n’ cream. The boozy candy mashups accompany a half dozen chicken-focused food items like chicken sliders, wings, and chicken strips, all served with fries. For those who are more into seafood, Candy Shack also offers fish tacos and fried catfish or shrimp baskets in its board game-centric atmosphere. Candy Shack Daiquiris is now open at 5111 Washington Avenue and operates Monday through Thursday 2 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Friday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m." - Alaena Hostetter

Google
This cute little shop was a perfect fix for a late night snack. I got a small ($6) Daiquiri, Sunset and Hurricane flavours with Sour Fuzzy Rings candy on top. Really yummy! The lady inside was so nice and helpful explaining the options. Samples were available too. Parking is a little tricky. But overall would return to try more menu items.

Google
My vacation group and I wanted to find a drink . This place had a vibe . It had nice music, games, and small bites. And frozen daiquiri's. It's very tight though. Not much parking, had to park on the road across the street. You can have a stand alone flavor. Or they have mixed flavor options on the menu. I tried the pink panties. It was good. You can candy. I did not due to flies touching it. You can add a shot to it for $1 i believe. I would recommend going.

Google
Cool place. Extremely limited parking, one way in and is the same way out. Inside is small and only 4 or 5 tables. But it's ok because they can put plastic wrap around your cup and legally let you take it to go! The sizes are in the pictures on this review and are very close to Starbucks shape and size cups. The staff is friendly and helpful and will let you sample a few different flavors. Once you decide your size and flavor you can put candy in the top which is delicious and recommended. Inside echos so if you plan to hang out and drink be prepared. Great pricing and you can add extra shots!

E R.

Google
Really nice...but it is really small inside. They have food too I wanted to order the fried fish but they said it was unavailable/ they were out. That was a downer it was 9:30 pm, they weren't closing for hours. That's poor service to me. So we got chicken strips and fries

Google
As usual my drink was the right amount of strong not too much and not too little the creamy crack is very good mixed with a lot of different colors is awesome my husband enjoys the caramel apple but it tasted a little flat to me not a little watery but otherwise that this is the place to go with the kids they had a virgin daiquiri played a couple games and went home!!! Allyssa was amazing and helping us pick a new drink and we always forget we can taste them before we try them so I appreciate her reminding us of that she was very friendly courteous talking to her and knowledgeable appreciate it!!!

Patty D.

Google
The drinks are delicious and the people there are very nice. Also good prices and some drinks they decorate with Mexican Candy I love that. Also they have games and good music.

Jesus D.

Google
Tasty frozen drinks! Made for an easy and memorable date night. I got my drinks to go and took them to my apartment's courtyard area. I got the smallest size of frozen drink. Next time I'll get a medium or large. Very limited parking available on site at Candy Shack Daquiris. If possible, park somewhere else and walk.

Michelle

Google
Wish they had more than 1 virgin flavor, and the parking sucks...other than that pretty good time. Lots of games. Staff were very welcoming and energetic. I'll be back.

Yelp
Creamy crack !! You can never go wrong with it.. strong drinks at a good price with board games and music !! Check it out y'all !!
google avatar

Shawnie J.

Yelp
It's so nice bright and welcoming from the front sign to the service we received from Thomas. We were able to taste flavors prior to purchasing. Now I don't remember the names but the baby mama, pina colada and pineapple mix I had with the works SLAPS (that means it's a hit!) and my opinion matters because I don't drink but I'm a sucker for a good slushee lol. You can connect your Bluetooth to the speaker and play board games as well, it's so nice and pink on the outside and inside of the restaurant. I'm from NY, I definitely recommend this place and will be returning on my next visit.

Yelp
I came by here about a week ago cuz I saw an old pic of me and my friend drinking some (nostalgic I guess) was closed and I'm pretty sure permanently cuz it looked like a construction site or maybe they're remodeling??! Idk maybe even robbed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ANYWAYS... I wish they were open because when I used to get drinks here they were great and cute!! *** Hopefully they see this and give an answer/explain what's up so I can update this review !! ***
google avatar

Sherelle L.

Yelp
Came in to find out all of their machines were broken except of one flavor... So why are y'all open? Needless to say everyone walked in then walked out.

Yelp
I came by here with my friend while visiting Houston, first and foremost. The customer service is 10 out of 10. I love that they allow you to play your own music, and it's just a friendly, fun vibe. I was very shocked at the prices they're very, very affordable they have plenty of interactive games, and ways to socialize in a great place. Whether friends are visiting town or you need a place to pregame. I highly recommend that they also offer food.
google avatar

Yelp
They serve nothing they advertise on line other than wings which Is TRASH don't do it

Yelp
Came here on our trip to Houston and had to try this cute spot. Parking was a bit confusing but we just parked across the street and walked over. they do have a tiny bit of parking in the front of the building tho. The drinks were really good i had got the yellow one , "I forgot the name lol" ,but It was delicious and you get to pick your candy toppings . We also ordered all the food on the menu and it was better the most of the restaurants we been to. Everything was fresh! Thank you so much if I'm ever in Houston again we will be back !
google avatar

Stacy L.

Yelp
Cool drink spot. They have many flavors & flavor combos to choose from. They even have some cool games set up on the tables for play. The staff is nice and allows you to sample the flavors. If you're there with the fish bowls are special price, go with that. It's an awesome value!!
google avatar

Erika J.

Yelp
Stopped her on the way to our hotel. It was pretty good. You can't beat the price. I had Lethal Weapon, sunrise, Incredible Hulk, baby mama. And island breeze. Topped with butterfly gummies. It was tasty. Next time I'll skip the lethal weapon (blue). Incredible Hulk was the best.

Yelp
Ok this is for the Washington avenue location. Started off with food order. The ONLY thing they had as far as food goes were the wings and fries; nothing else. I mean really?!? Luckily I have was in the mood for wings, back to that in a moment. Drinks; not so lucky. Was tasting me some strawberry shortcake. Ingredients not available for that. Okay let's compromise on the buttery nipple. NOPE, sorry no caramel available. So settle on the peaches and cream. Drink was strong but to watery. Now back to my food order. The wrong flavor was pointed out on the receipt and I was told not to worry it would be corrected. After 15 minutes of waiting; NOPE!!! Still screwed up my order and I had to wait another 15 minutes, even on a slow night with just two customers. On a positive note wings and fries were freaking delicious. On a downside, my wife and I both got sick the next day. Customer service was so-so. You know what they say about first impressions... won't return. Not to this location anyway. You've been warned.
google avatar

Coya G.

Yelp
Cute little place. Liberations were cost friendly. They had music inside so the vibe was cool. One table in the back had a large size connect the dots to play. Their are 4 menus that offer "bites" " classic flavors" " mixology" "sizes". The place is not very large over all. It has about 6 high top tables with 2 bar stools for each. It is around some other bars and places to eat. I would recommend trying the place. I got the two drinks in the pics. The mixologist mixed us a sensation. Well just call her "Fall-en For ya" !

Yelp
I came here about 15-20 mins prior to closing time. I walked up to the door and it was locked. I walked to the window and knocked on it to grab the two associates attention and mentioned to them that I am trying to come in with my obvious body language. These rude associates both looked at me shook their head and kept walking around ignoring me. With the window being clear I could see them talking underneath their breath and just waiting for me to leave. Confused since the shop should not be closed, I continue to wait patiently by the window expecting them to open the door again...they just continue to ignore me until I knocked again and one of the associates clearly looking unhappy FINALLY walked over to open the door. As I look through the window again, the shorter heavy build one was rolling her eyes and being very annoyed with me walking in. The business closes at 12 all of the machines were still on and running and all the lights were on in the shop! Nothing was stopping these two ladies from simply pouring a drink into a cup for me except their attitude. After reading several other reviews based on the terrible customer service I do agree that these two women working that night were very unprofessional and not courteous at all considering the business should not have been closed and doors locked. The drink I had was not good the flavors were very plain but yet still tasted like a medicine tart/bitter and everything in between. The strength would be the only positive factor. I will never be coming back to this location.

Yelp
The daiquiris a really great. The owners are so nice and will make custom blends, like the Mango Colada, that is great. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun spot! They have about 10 different fun daiquiri flavors ranging from pineapple, green apple, strawberry/peach, cherry, and creamy rum (but they all have way more fun names, just ask and the friendly staff will explain them!). I got some gummy bears on top of mine which were a fun touch. They also have one virgin flavor (no alcohol!) which is mango flavored. You can also do some mixology and elevated your daiquiri with fun toppings and flavors (like you can add caramel sauce to the green apple and oreos to the creamy rum). They have a bunch of unique combos that make a desserty drink. The prices are very reasonable! A 12 oz daiquiri is $6 and a fishbowl (shareable) is only $16. They can give you the drinks to go as well. The parking lot is pretty small and got really busy around 7-8pm. I suggest arriving before 6:30 if you want to find a spot. Inside they have tables for sitting with giant jenga and connect 4. Fun place to relax, hang with friends, have some music on in the back, and drink some tasty drinks!
google avatar

Preston I.

Yelp
The daiquiris here are delicious and pretty strong as well. I can't remember the flavors I got, but both tasted really good. The service was quick, and there was no line when I came on a Saturday afternoon. Only negative is that parking is very limited here. There's an adjacent lot, but it's very small and can be hard to navigate with other cars in the way.
google avatar

Bradford G.

Yelp
TLDR: Candy + Strong Daiquiris = Game on! Do it. Visit: Weekend Order: Custom suggested daiquiris made by the staff... had some fun and got to taste test their suggested combos! Rating: 9.3 This delicious daiquiri spot off Washington has a fun atmosphere, great service, and good vibes. Get ready for a sugar rush because these babies are strong. With numerous combinations and toppings, you can't go wrong here.
google avatar

Caitlin K.

Yelp
There are so many flavors to choose from! Some have fun names that make it a bit harder to estimate the flavor, so asking the bartenders is super helpful! You can mix the different flavors as you wish or follow their recommendations. They only had gummy bears at this location this week but it seems like they may switch it up. The drinks themselves were very sugary but delicious! Inside is a little small (only 3 or 4 tables) but they have fun games you can play! Overall great experience.
google avatar

Bianca F.

Yelp
great place!!!! Great prices, great taste, and great presentation. You can get it with or without all the candy. I was able to add an extra shot for $1 and I also got 2 Jell-O shots for $1. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a fun drink to try! I can't wait to go back for happy hour Tuesdays.
google avatar

Israel T.

Yelp
Such a cute spot nestled into what looks like a garage. When we got in, we weren't quite sure on which flavors to get so we allowed to try them all! The service was excellent. The daiquiri itself was yummy, not too strong though so I think a bit on the pricier side. The candy garnish was such a nice finish. We also tried some of the food items they had (chicken wings, chicken tenders, fries), but I would say save your money on those. Get your food elsewhere then stop by here for the drinks! The decor was fun also as they had cards and Jenga to play with while you wait. Fun music in the background, this place is certainly a vibe!
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
My friends and I had such a good time here!! We came in on a Wednesday evening, the place was empty. After trying a couple of samples, we opted for a fish bowl made of three different flavors. My friend choose one of the coconut mixes which I was not a fan of. However after stirring the bowl all together, I couldn't taste the coconut at all. They also have several card && jumbo games for you to choose from and play. I would definitely recommend stopping by for a daiquiri, specially because they are at such a great price. Eat the candy ASAP though before it get hard in the slush!!

Yelp
I stopped by Candy Shack Daiquiris with a friend on a Saturday night. Candy Shack is located close to the corner of Washington and Shepherd in The Heights. They're right across the street from Lincoln Bar and a bunch of other bars and restaurants. While they do have a parking lot, it's really small and tight so I'd avoid their parking lot unless you're just picking up. If you've never been to a daiquiri spot like this, you're missing out. They had nine or ten different flavors and you can sample some before you pick your poison. They have some flavor combinations you can choose off of the menu or you can make your own. They also have four different sizes. I went with the second largest cup and mixed three flavors. They add some candy to it at the end. I also ordered the catfish, shrimp, and fries. They were out of a couple of items so this entree was my third choice. The food took a while to come out because they said they had a big order that was placed but I appreciated the heads-up. It ended up being your typical Cajun fare. The drink was solid and they pack a punch! Don't be deceived by the tropical look to them. They do the job! The bar is pretty small. While they do have a couple of tables, I see it as a better grab-and-go spot. All the seating is backless bar stools which I hate. Give me some back support!
google avatar

Morgan M.

Yelp
Very cute place! Friendly and helpful staff. I had a great time, and always talk about going back when I visit Houston.
google avatar

Briona J.

Yelp
The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because the parking is a struggle. Other than that, I'll give Candy shack 5 stars. This place is such a cute concept. I lived nearby so I brought all of my out of town visitors here. You get a pretty good buzz from the daquiris alone, but I suggest adding a shot. The food is pretty good too. I like Candy Shack as a pregame spot, and the owner of this particular location is super sweet.
google avatar

Shiffon S.

Yelp
Nice quick lil vibe. Its really small but the daiquiris are REALLY good. They have small bites. The music is the vibe. Try it for a quick drink.
google avatar

Tahashma W.

Yelp
I thought place was good. The Daiquria were average but the food was great! I had the fish and shrimp plate that was out of this world. Properly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The girls were personable and knew what they were talking about as well as offered quick service.

Phillip L.

Yelp
Me and a friend wanted to check this place out after seeing the cute pictures and tasty looking menu. Lots of curb appeal with all the pink colored paint and lights, but the cute vibes end as soon as you walk in the door...yikes. 0 customer service skills by the 2 girls behind the counter. Their attitude and presence was very off-putting, dismissive and disrespectful. We almost decided to just leave, but we were so excited to try this place so we held out. The drink was way too sugary even without the candy topings, and I felt sick halfway through, but I can't be mad ab that, it's literally called the candy shack daiquiris lol Lastly the music was so loud me and my friend couldn't have a conversation while sitting directly next to each other. Is it a food vendor, bar, nightclub, hangout spot... like what exactly is this place supposed to be and what is the target audience? Lol again, unprofessional, overbearing, unsatisfactory and disappointing. This place has a lot of potential if it were more inclusive and considerate to all of its customers.

Yelp
How did I have no idea that there was a daiquiri spot in Houston!? After a Sunday Funday of beer drinking and bar hopping, my friends and I stopped in. The staff was super friendly and helped us make our choices! I can't rave enough about how awesome the staff was, they kicked off our visit and checked in with us a few times while we were there, great ladies! The candy on top is an awesome little treat to go along with the daiquiri! We snagged a few different flavors to share within our group and we liked them all! Tons of options and you can mix! The music is poppin and the ambiance is great- stop and snag a picture in front of their neon sign. I can't wait to come here again soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Thankful for brandy my daquiri expert ! She hooked us up with nice virgin daiquiris and super sized uno cards ! Had a great date night here ! Open til midnight !

Yelp
Okay... 1) The drinks are amazing & the candy on top makes for perfect photo ops 2) Location is perfect for ppl watching on a Saturday evening 3) Music is A1 4) Customer service...unmatched Stop reading this review and just head there already!

Zaira G.

Yelp
The experience was great. Very helpful, friendly employees . It was our 1st time and they made sure to let us know what every drink was, and they gave out samples! Very needed . The daiquiris were SUPER good and affordable. But I lost my ID... contact me if u find it please lol.
google avatar

Yelp
Even though they are short staffed sometimes, the drink and candy idea is very new to me, but the atmosphere is so nice & very fun My favorite so far is the Texas Tea Wish they could get sour patch
google avatar

Eboni S.

Yelp
First time going here. There is not lots of parking but there weren't many people when I stopped by. They are practicing social distancing and have footprints on the floor where people should stand. Two ladies were working there both very polite and wearing gloves. I got the Tropical Passion Mix with an extra shot and candy and it was very good. Everything is to go.

Khadijiah P.

Yelp
I had an awesome time.. Cameron hospitality was off the roof.. they made me feel so special especially when I'm visiting from Georgia... I will definitely come again and recommend others as well...Thank U
google avatar

Jay M.

Yelp
First let me start off by saying that this review is weeks late from my actual visit. The staff was great and helpful and the drinks are definitely strong. However, the parking is inadequate and the space itself is way too small considering the circumstances of Covid. For this reason is why I have to give this place 3-stars.
google avatar

Yelp
We came in on Sunday around 3:30pm since we heard they had a family game type of environment. Perfect place to go after a birthday brunch or so we thought. The lady at the register had an extremely stank attitude and demeanor for no reason. I came in 15 minutes after our party of 15. Everyone had ordered food and when I went to order she stated that the cook was getting ready to leave and they wouldn't be serving food again until 6pm because she didn't want to be overwhelmed. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Overwhelmed?!!! Ma'am our party is the only people in here. Mind you the cook was already cooking my male cousins order and would literally have to cook the same thing. I again said you literally just took my cousins order and she again stated that it would be too much for her.I asked if it was ok if my husband went to get a pizza and bring it back and she just shrugged her shoulders. I was over it and went to play cards with my family. Another one of my male cousins asked to order food and the cook walked by and said it's nothing for me to make him some food so I get out of my seat and ask the cashier (after she's finished taking her shot) if I could order since she just let my cousin order and she said no. I politely stated you just let my cousin order and she said that was the cook not me. What!!!!! Lol. So now I'm assuming since I'm not a good looking man I'm not eating. Needless to say the cook never left, she was there until I left. I will not be back to this weird establishment with rude employees. Plenty of places in Houston to give my business too.
google avatar

Mariam A.

Yelp
Absolutely TERRIBLE ! I came in on Sunday at 12:30 and had to wait for 15 minutes until someone came out to take my order. When she finally came out, she looked really disheveled and her pants were sagged and her boxers were hanging out. Gross, gross, grosssss ! I finally placed my order because I had already bought the Groupon and had to use it. I asked how long it would take and she said 15-20 mins ( really for fries ?????) Anyway I decided to take a walk outside because the place was so damn hot. I come back after 25-30 mins and she says it isn't ready and it will be another 15 mins. Get the FFFF out ! Also, the only virgin Daq they have taste like crap and their food is mediocre. Never again
google avatar

Cynthia V.

Yelp
I am so happy this place opened up! What more could you want besides sweet daiquiris topped with more sweet candy? They have lots of different flavors that you can mix any way you want and a list of suggested mixes. Try the Tropic Passion if you want to play it safe or the Caution if you like to live on the wild side.
google avatar

Shed-laure R.

Yelp
This place is the TRUTH!! My friends and I came here two days in a row. Yes, the daiquiris are just that good! We were allowed to sample any flavor and/or daiquiri mix that we desired. The employees gave great suggestions for daiquiri flavors depending on what I was looking for. The daiquiris are strong! Also, they are not selfish with the candy. They put a lot at the top of each drink. You can request no candy, but who wouldn't want candy? There was great music playing and the 2nd day we returned, there was a live DJ. There are games to play as well such as connect four, jenga, uno, etc. The vibe was just right. Candy Shack Daiquiris is a must when in Houston!
google avatar

Rio V.

Yelp
The Instagram was really cool and the idea is nice. I just wish more would be done with the service. It's during a pandemic so I can understand why they wouldn't want to be there. It's a tough call for me to really rate this place but didn't feel too welcomed and the staff didn't quite help me. Maybe half the flavors were out but just better standards would help! Doesn't hurt to try this place versus the competitors.
google avatar

Maritza M.

Yelp
First of all, this drink tastes like nail polish remover. Absolutely disgusting. This place is also very unethical. In their Group On they try be deceptive by putting at the veryyyy bottom of the group on that the group on doesn't even cover alcoholic beverages... what?! That doesn't even make sense when their business is based on alcoholic beverages. Makes sense that when we went on a Saturday night there weren't even that many people there. Disgusting disgusting disgusting drink. And did I mention the parking is basically in a shack and it's almost impossible to get in and out? Thanks a lot Candy Shack for ripping people off and being dishonest.
google avatar

Isaac S.

Yelp
First off the drinks taste like garbage. No flavor whatsoever. Now on to the business itself.Do not come here with the GROUPON, they count on you not reading the fine print where it says you cannot purchase alcohol with this Groupon. It makes zero sense when what they base their business on is mostly selling alcoholic drinks. How stupid. Totally deceptive business practices. Worst $30 I've ever spent
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
Tasty. Great prices. Nice staff. Fun place to hang out and listen to music, drink, and play games. I got the smallest size with an extra shot but I was feeling pretty buzzed by the time I got near the bottom so I stopped to give myself time. Would definitely return the next time I'm in Houston.
google avatar

Sheniqua W.

Yelp
Sooo I frequent them whenever the Kiddo is away I don't know why I never wrote a review. I've been to many many places and Hands down THEY ARE THE BEST. I'm very snobbish when it comes to my food and drink. I don't know how they do it but at each location I've tasted every flavor. Although i don't always like all the flavors they are flavorful. They don't taste like cheap wine let's clarify that right now ((CLAP CLAP)) lol!!! Strength: They are full bodied people the alcohol sneaks up on you so beware LOLOL!!! Why do I warn you?? In most of them you cannot taste the alcohol. It's more like a really good slushy. Candy Shack because of you I can't even go to N.O. or B.R. without being biased ((insert shoulder shrug emoji)) IM A FAN!!!!
google avatar

Brookie B.

Yelp
Stopped by here to grab a quick daiquiri with my bestie! Let me start by saying the parking was non-existent and the super small alley they do have is big enough for 4 cars! The service was good, they explained the flavors since we had never been there before! The drinks were good just a bit too sweet for me, I do recommend the candy, it gives the drink a nice touch! I honestly found myself needing a extra shot, the drink was not strong at all. They have games at the two - three tables they have on the inside.

Simone H.

Yelp
I go every time I'm in Houston. The baristas are great, good recommendations, and great tasting daiquiris. Idk what else to say, but you should go !
google avatar

Chandra M.

Yelp
This place is a really fun, delicious daiquiri spot! Their neon sign inside makes me really feel like I'm in a candy shop and their drinks are not to be messed with! The drink names are absolutely hilarious too! We went on a whim, maybe a Wednesday, and there were a couple others before us, but it was chill. Perfect for a day date with the hubs. We had a little connect four fun while playing make believe that we were on a tropical island sipping on our delicious daiquiris. They come with an umbrella and it's that good, the only missing is a beach! The candy is also a huge plus!! Go! So good!

Yelp
Nope I don't know what they use a the alcohol, but it made me sick. Not hungover sick, but made my stomach feel like it was twisted sick. Like I had a reaction to it. Not for me.

Our first time here and the lady in the front was so sweet. She gave is a run down of all the flavors and let us try whatever we would like. All of the ones we tried were really good.
